Powder -Hourglass - Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light
D-Girl 3/1/2013 8:15:00 AM
I was very skeptical about all the hype surrounding the Ambient Powders. How could a powder recreate the specific effects achieved by lighting? Well, skeptic I am no more. Dim Light really does recreate the look you might hope to achieve using a more dim light to blur imperfections. It doesn't make you look sallow or shadowed, though. Instead, it creates this special blurred effect that looks really quite amazing. I have since gone back and purchases the Luminous Light and Radiant Light because I am interested in seeing if they live up to their claims as Dim Light does.

Eye Shadow -Inglot - Rainbow eyeshadows
D-Girl 5/14/2012 8:57:00 AM
I absolutely adore the Inglot rainbow eyeshadows. They are super-pigmented, smooth as butter, and long-wearing. I honestly can't say enough about these. I own all of the current shades and while some of the neutral ones are a bit redundant, I still think it is worth having each one.

Eye Shadow -Inglot - Freedom System Palette
D-Girl 4/26/2011 1:58:00 PM
I can't rave enough about Inglot eyeshadows and the freedom palette system. The quality, pigment, wear, and blendability of these shadows completely dwarfs virtually every other eyeshadow I have tried. The colors are vibrant, long-wearing, and numerous. They really have colors for everyone whether you are a neutral lover or wild child. I currently have 2 20-pan palettes and 2 10-pan palettes and I am already contemplating my next purchase. My only (small) complaints are that there aren't more stores in the US and the palette system doesn't allow for easy access to the shade names or easy removal once it is in place (I've injured a few of these babies in the process). Still for the $4.50 price tag, I'm willing to have a few casualties.

Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - Synthetic Flat Top Multipurpose Brush
D-Girl 4/26/2011 1:49:00 PM
I really, really love this brush. I use this for liquid and cream foundations and it gives an excellent finish and allows me to use quite a bit less foundation than my sponge or more traditional foundation brushes. It is the perfect size to use pretty much everywhere on my face and I find myself using this brush everyday, even at the expense of some of its pricier counterparts. This brush can be somewhat of a chore to find at your local target as it is always sold out (no surprise considering how amazing it is), so if you see one, I highly recommend you pick it up.

Polishes -Sinful - Glass Pink
D-Girl 8/17/2010 9:32:00 PM
I have recently become somewhat obsessed with sinful color nail polishes and this particular one is a stunner. It's a beautiful sheer pale pink with tons of gorgeous silvery pink shimmer. It creates a stunning look on the nails and you can't beat the $1.99 price tag.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - ColorIcon Palette in Lust [DISCONTINUED]
D-Girl 5/8/2010 5:58:00 PM
My, oh, my...what a find. This palette has officially converted me to matte shades. These are some of the richest, butteriest, creamiest, most pigmented shades I have ever used. They are beautiful and they blend like a dream. Despite how creamy they are, they also wear really well. These are an absolute steal at $5. Can't wait to try the rest of the shades in this line.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - HiP Color Chrome Liquid Pencil - Blue Spark
D-Girl 8/1/2009 12:02:00 AM
I can't say enough positive things about this eyeliner. First off, it is a beautiful, vibrant blue that really works with my brown eyes. Secondly, it is very smooth and creamy and it applies like butter. Of course, I was skeptical about how it would wear because overly creamy products tend to fade or smear on my oily lids. However, even though it is rich and creamy when you apply it, it dries down after about 30 seconds and does not budge. I have tried and liked UD 24/7 pencils and MUFE Aqua liners, but I LOVE the L'Oreal ones.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - HiP Kohl Eyeliner in Brown Kohl 803
D-Girl 1/1/2009 5:25:00 PM
I really wanted to love this product because the color is soooo pretty. Unfortunately, even after using a base, it transferred like crazy. After about an hour of wear, the product had moved from my lash line to my eyelid crease. I do have Asian eyes with a hooded crease, but most other liners I use don't move like this. Also, when I used it on my lower lash line, it flaked and fell underneath my eyes leaving me looking like a raccoon. Unfortunately, this product did not work for me as it seems to have for others.

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Maybelline Mineral Power Finishing Veil Powder ] ] [DISCONTINUED]
D-Girl 11/15/2008 10:47:00 PM
I think this is supposed to be used as a finishing powder, but honestly, the coverage is so great that I use it as a powder foundation. I got it as a BOGOF when I got the Mineral Power Liquid foundation (which I also love) and was pleasantly surprised with how nice it looked both over the liquid and on its own. I immediately went back and bought a few back ups to keep in all my purses. Great price, great product.

Eyeliner -Calvin Klein - Electric Edge Liquid Eyeliner Pen (ALL)
D-Girl 11/15/2008 10:43:00 PM
I have this eyeliner in black and I really like the quality and ease of use. Also, this eyeliner stays put. It is in a felt tip pen form so no messy liquid or too soft brushes to deal with. It is a true jet black and it applies very smoothly.

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
D-Girl 11/15/2008 10:39:00 PM
I have never really been a big fan of MUFE's foundations, so I was a little skeptical when I saw this one. I was impressed with their color selection and decided to try a sample of their golden-y olive shade (#123). This has now become one of my all time favorite foundations, right up there with my Armani LSF. The coverage is medium to heavy, but it feels light weight. The color is a perfect match, which is usually hard to find for my Eurasian skin tone. The price is a bit steep, but it's a good size bottle that will probably last a while.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Telescopic
D-Girl 6/28/2007 10:54:00 AM
I was skeptical, but since this was on sale, decided to give it a try. I actually like this mascara. The first time I used, I used too much and noticed the clumping issues that others reported. The next time I used, I just wiped off the excess from the wand by swiping it alongside the brim of the tube and voila! perfect application. It lasted all day on me and looked great.

Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation - Intensive formula [DISCONTINUED]
D-Girl 6/26/2007 5:34:00 PM
I cannot rave enough for this foundation. I have tried several mineral makeups including Bare Escentuals, Philosophy, etc. and none have even come close to the Everyday Minerals formula. The other mineral foundations I've tried looked great for about an hour and then completely disappeared after that. Also, the coverage was usually to sheer for me. Everyday minerals stays on all day and has amazing coverage. Also, the color selection is phenomenal.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - Nutri Gloss for medium to long hair thats damaged
D-Girl 5/2/2007 10:34:00 PM
I have been a huge fan of Kerastase for years. Amazing for the hair, torture for the wallet. I figured I'd give the L'Oreal Vive line a whirl since they are owned by the same company. Well, I'm glad I did. While the Vive Nutri-Glosse is not quite as good as my Kerastase, it comes close enough. And the price tag makes it unbeatable. My hair was left feeling soft and silky and it looked shiny and healthy. Raves!

Lip Gloss -Bobbi Brown - Sandy Beige Lipgloss
D-Girl 1/18/2007 7:49:00 PM
Beautiful slightly shimmery neutral brown beige. It has a slight golden shimmer and is the perfect nude gloss. One of the best Bobbi Brown colors ever.
