Shampoo -L'Oreal - EverCreme Cleansing Conditioner
CupCaked 2/26/2012 1:42:00 PM
Nope, don't like this, not at all. I had to keep checking the label to make sure I didn't buy a conditioner "only" instead of a cleansing conditioner. The label says it's supposed to lather. A "low lather" I think were the words. It does nothing but sit on your hair despite trying to weave the product into the hair and scalp. After rinsing well (VERY well) it leaves the hair (my hair, anyway) with a slick feeling, like it hadn't been washed at all. The smell *is* nice, though. Will I buy it again? No. In fact, I'm looking for somebody in the family to finish this bottle of product.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)

In one sentence, this stuff works! I've purchased it again and again as it's simply the best at what it does. I've tried others, but always come back to UD Primer. I like the original, not crazy about the other tinted or glittery versions. The only downside is the container. There's still a lot of product in it when it looks like you're at the end. Just pry off the top (the ribbed part) and there's more under there!

Shampoo -Clairol - Shimmer Lights
CupCaked 4/8/2011 1:56:00 PM
I started getting gray back in my 20s and now my hair is VERY gray, just about white, actually, but I get a lot of compliments on it. I used to use a violet shampoo/conditioner duo from a home shopping channel that I liked a lot. When it was discontinued, I decided to look around for something comparable. That's when I started using Clairol's Shimmer Lights. First of all, if you use it as directed, it's very subtle, but it does work to make gray or white hair look bright and luminous. For the life of me, I cannot understand what all the fuss is about the scent. I had to go back upstairs to open the bottles to take a whiff because I honestly don't know what all the kerfuffle is all about. It never bothered me at all, the shampoo or the conditioner. One thing on the negative side I do have to add is that the conditioner doesn't work well. I add a squirt of my own favorite conditioner along with the Shimmer Lights conditioner and apply them together for the effects of the product and for decent conditioning. That seems to work for me. Another remedy to the non-conditioning aspect of Shimmer Lights conditioner is to use a leave in conditioner of your choice. I use either Mop or Terex Crema.

Fragrances -Alexandra deMarkoff - Alexandra Essence Mist

I received a sample of this scent when I ordered another makeup item from Alexandra de Markoff years ago, and I immediately became a big fan. It's at once exotic and heady without producing a "spice"-induced headache like, say, Opium. This fragrance is a strong scent, without a doubt, but it is also very feminine and soft, which is a hard combo for any perfumer to manage. It is the kind of fragrance that you wear for yourself, to just have near you to enjoy, but rest assured that you will get compliments when you wear it, too.

Fragrances -Floris of London - Malmaison

This is probably my very favorite scent in the world, and that's saying something for a makeup/fragrance/skin care junkie like myself. I first came across this brand, Floris, during a trip to London years ago. The Savoy hotel used the line for their hotel guests. I had a chance to visit the London Floris store on Jermyn Street and quickly became enamoured with Malmaison. It is the perfect foral scent without going too far over the top with a flower-y smell. It's soft and light and very, very feminine. You could truly wear this for a visit with the Queen ;-) I love the legend behind the malmaison carnation, too, that Oscar Wilde (a favorite writer of mine) used to wear one daily in his lapel, but he would dye it green to mark his Irish ancestry.

Fragrances -Floris of London - Cefiro
CupCaked 11/10/2006 8:28:00 PM
I found Floris' Cefiro for the first time years ago when we stayed at the Savoy in London, and this was their brand (and scent) of choice for their guests. After that, I became a Floris fan, with Cefiro and Malmaison being the top two scents for me. I tend to wear Cefiro in the summer, when I like something lighter and more citrus-y. My hubby can also wear this without feeling too bogged down in scent. It is truly a unisex fragrance and one that would be great to give as a gift to a man whose taste in scents you do not know well (yet.)
