BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream

I tried this today. I didn't find it to be blendable. I feel like it was sinking into my flaws, not airbrushing them out. Try Almay Smart Shade instead. Light, better consistency and blendability.....nice and light. I will try it again, maybe with moisturizer underneath. If I change my mind, I will update this post :)

Bronzers -Physicians Formula - Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Powder - Light Bronzer
rated 4 of 5
CroGirl89 9/27/2011 8:14:00 AM

I think this is a fantastic bronzer for those with light skin who just want to look healthier. It has just a touch of shimmer, and transitions great from day to night. The color is very natural. You don't have to pile it on....and just like ANY bronzer if you are too heavy-handed it will get muddy. Just use a medium-sized face brush and sweep it on your cheeks, tip of nose, brow, a bit on the jawline and blend into your neck and decoltage (sorry if misspelled!) blend, blend, blend for a natural, lightly bronzed look.... I absolutely love the little pink heart, where you can sweep a little pink into your cheeks for extra oomph. It is a very flattering color when blended in. My only complaint is that the pink is such a little area, so it is harder to get the pink evenly on your brush (and you will have to use your own; the packaged one is a throwaway) I really look forward to trying the blush versions of Happy Booster line. So adorable with all the hearts! it is bulky to carry in your purse...but worth it to carry for touchups, although its staying power is pretty good....I just like knowing I have it. I could smell the flowery scent when I first purchased, but it has no staying power past sticking your nose in it for a whiff. The smell is a little gimmicky....so it is probably better that it is not overpowering. Someone said it smells a little like scented tampons, and they might have a point. I recommend this product! For the 11 or 12 bucks, you get a lot for your money, and you could discover it is your HG. I would definitely give it a try before you blow your money on an expensive brand. there are many more pluses than minuses here.

Pressed Powders -Almay - Smart Shade Smart Balance Pressed Powder
rated 4 of 5
CroGirl89 5/19/2011 7:56:00 AM

I really like this. It blends surprisingly well and works well with the matching foundation. I use a larger brush to apply it. It really does work with your skin tone, and I find that it even offers a bit of a brightening effect. Someone else noted that the powder doesn't go all over the place/fall apart and I agree.....and that is very nice. I hate the cheap plastic container it is in, though.

Liquid -Almay - Smart Shade Smart Balance SPF15

I am surprised to see the negative comments. I've had a good experience with this foundation so far. The best part about it is if you are like me and have a hard time finding a good match for skin tone....this really does offer a solution and you should at least try!!! It blends easily and goes on light....it doesn't cause breakouts....the coverage is sheer but not overly so. If you have serious skin problems to hide though, this probably won't be enough coverage for you. The tube is very hygenic (are you listening, Maybelline Age Rewind?) I really like this foundation under the matching pressed powder.

Bronzers -Physicians Formula - Solar Powder SPF 20 Bronzer
rated 5 of 5
CroGirl89 8/18/2010 8:16:00 AM

this is for the light bronzer. Personally, I love this. It has been in my m/u bag for a while, and I dont know why I never gave it much of a chance before now. If you are pretty pale (I am a very light olivy tone with no pink) and need a little healthy oomph to your skin, this is for you. No silly flecks of shimmer, the 3 colors blend beautifully. I use a big brush (the brush it comes with is a bit useless....maybe use for your eyelids), swirl, tap and then apply to cheeks, nose, jaw and eyes....then a couple of sweeps up and down my neck and chest to blend..... It is a nice bonus that there is an SPF and a mirror. This has replaced my blush, at least for now. I look healthy and glowing........for the price, it is worth a try

Fragrances -Dolce & Gabbana - Fragrance Anthology L'Imperatrice
rated 4 of 5
CroGirl89 9/19/2009 1:07:00 PM

I guess this was only at Nordstrom's for a while....but at Macy's it's a new arrival. I passed the frag counter and stopped on a whim to check out the new line of D&B fragrances (I think there are 5).... this one was the standout for me. Watery peach and watermelon....not sugary/cloying....just fresh and watery. I don't really smell the floral (identified as a fruity floral), but I think anyone who is a fan of light, fresh, fruity frags would appreciate this. For the 65 dollar price tag, it seemed worth it as a little treat for myself. :) UPDATE: I realize now this is a lot like Prescriptives Calyx (but I think it's better/more complex. HTH!!!!

Styling Products -Rusk - Jele Gloss

CroGirl89 1/19/2009 10:18:00 PM

I think this stuff is pretty great. I have fairly straight, medium hair......and it def. gives some thickness boost. I can't say in all honesty I'm super shiny from it.....but it's not dulling either. Weird side note....I think it keeps my hair cleaner for longer. I'm not kidding. I can go for 3 or 4 days and not wash my hair (winter only, I'm sure)......it's pretty remarkable. Anyway...it's not sticky at all...it doesn't build up....two thumbs up for me! I'll definitely repurchase.

Cleansers -Cerave - Hydrating Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
CroGirl89 1/15/2009 1:50:00 PM

I'm actually shocked that this is getting so many poor reviews. This is my HG wintertime cleanser for my combo/acne-prone skin. I don't wear a ton of makeup but what I do it removes just fine (but i do wash twice...it's a habit I've always had) it leaves my skin soft, hydrated, never irritated.....and it doesn't break me out AT ALL. I hate hate hate Cetaphil. It leaves a coating on my skin and totally breaks me out. (I'm talking original Cetaphil cleanser...the one made for oily skin is my HG for summer months, actually. It's totally different) But Cerave is amazing. If you hate Cetaphil but like the IDEA of Cetaphil....try Cerave.

Shampoo -Charles Worthington - Dream Hair
rated 3 of 5
CroGirl89 11/23/2008 12:55:00 PM

I bought the thickening formula (purple) and it did NOTHING for my hair. It may have made it look worse/lifeless and limp. The package is pretty in the shower, and the pump is a good idea in that it will prevent you from overusing product....but the pump isn't the best quality. BUT....the smell is so pretty. Like old 50s glamour scent or something like that. Classy. Soooooo....I've been using it to handwash my delicates. And it works so great for that!!!! It leaves my undies and bras smelling sooooooo good and since it's shampoo and meant for hair it is delicate detergent. So if you are out of woolite.....I highly recommend this! ;)

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
CroGirl89 9/9/2008 8:33:00 AM

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE NORMAL-TO-OILY VERSION, NOT THE ORIGINAL...... I have been searching for an HG cleanser for just about forever......... Recently, I've been faithful to Paula's Choice One Step....but it's always a pain to order it when it runs out. I went to the store to find a temporary solution (it's usually the new Olay antioxidant wash, which is pretty good)...and came upon Cetaphil for normal-to-oily skin. Now, I hate the original Cetaphil. It breaks me out, it feels filmy on my skin....so my impression of Cetaphil is not good one....but I had to admit I never saw, nor tried, the normal-to-oily version. What really push me to try it (other than the completely different ingredients from the original) was the reasonable price and the fact that it was in a convenient, well-made pump bottle (very hygenic!).....so I thought "why not".....well.....I've been using it for 2 days, and I think it is great so far. It cleans very well including eye makeup, but I don't feel stripped. It has a consistency similar to Purpose face wash, which is OK by me. It doesn't break me out (so far...knock wood) in fact I think it may offer a bit of a calming effect to my skin. I took off a lippie because it smells like deodorant tampons....exactly like it, in fact.....and they really should just go frag-free or choose a much milder frag. But I have to say, so far I am impressed and I'm hopeful that it is something I can rely on long-term...and perhaps even turn into an HG for me. Anything is possible!

Fragrances -Comptoir Sud Pacifique - Amour de Cacao
rated 4 of 5
CroGirl89 5/10/2008 11:05:00 AM

I get the most compliments wearing this. I think it makes me smell like cocoa pebbles, but I constantly get asked what the vanilla scent I'm wearing is. It lasts a long time, esp. on clothing. I don't like the fact that it has no cap. It's just an exposed spray bottle. And I think they charge too much for it (but I got it in a swap, anyway!) This is the only gourmond scent I have, and I use it often!

Lip Gloss -Physicians Formula - Plump Potion - Pink Potion
rated 4 of 5
CroGirl89 4/11/2008 4:26:00 PM

I actually like this. The color is nice and natural. Yes, when I first took the wand out the smell was noticeable....but honestly once I put it on I don't smell anything. It definitely is making my lips look full. There is some tackiness...but not that bad. I have felt much, much worse on my lips. For the price, the fact that it actually gives me a plumpier pout and the color that is very attractive, I have to give it a thumbs up.

Liquid -Maybelline - Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Foundation ] ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
CroGirl89 2/26/2008 4:40:00 PM

I had been staying away from liquid foundation for many years because I hate the heavy mess of liquid....so for a long time I used concealer, then generous amounts of powder. But now as I get older (31 now), and my skin is drier...I'm back to trying out liquid foundations. I bought this on a whim, mostly because I was impressed at the color selection (I was really at CVS to buy the Age Rewind cream foundation, which, I must admit, is quite good) 1st thing I like about Mineral Power: the packaging. It's minimal. The squeeze bottle is genius...you only squeeze what you need...no waste! 2nd thing I like: the color selection. I bought light 2, which is just about as perfect a match as I've ever found with a liquid drugstore foundation. 3rd thing I like: the consistency. It is just about perfect. It just smooths on and blends beautifully. It looks so natural and feels so light. 4th thing I like: It has sunscreen in it. Always nice to know. As far as coverage, it will definitely even out skin tone. It does an OK job of covering old red acne marks, but it's "just OK." I find myself still dabbing on a bit of concealer on those problem areas. I haven't had a bad zit in a while, but I would imagine that this foundation would not cut it if you had bad acne to cover (but, I stress as a person who is acne-prone...so far no breakouts from this..which is great!!) So if you are looking for something that looks and feels like bare skin and gives you an even skin tone, this is definitely worth a try. Considering all the gross sludge out there they pass off as "foundation"...this is a wonderful drug store (or ANY store) option, and I doubt this is the last bottle I'll be purchasing.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Obey Your Body - Peeling Gel
rated 5 of 5
CroGirl89 2/9/2008 1:35:00 PM

on the expensive side..but AMAZING during xmas rush I was stopped by one of those annoying nail buffer people, but they had skincare too......he sucked me into trying this on my hand.....and I could see all the dead skin that was coming off....and I was curious. I've had acne problems since about 17, and I've tried so many things...things that either broke me out from ingredients or dried me out and made it worse....... I've tried AHA type of peels to remove dead skin cells, and never cared for the way that they made my skin sensitive and burning...but I knew that taking off dead skin was essential to preventing breakouts...so I thought "what the heck" when I saw this alternative to AHAs. I'm SO GLAD I tried this product. It is wonderful. It is unreal how much dead skin it takes off.....and it does it without even a little irritation. In fact, my skin feels calm and smooth afterward. Now it's February, and my skin is better than it has been for years. Not since I was on the pill has my skin been so clear. (I got off pill about 2 years ago, and struggled with the consequences of acne being worse without them) To start, I used it every night for about 2 weeks. Then I tapered it off to about 2 times a week. Not only has the acne cleared up big time (only occasional, small pimple that goes away much quicker) but the tone and texture of my skin is WAY better. It is worth the price)....it's a great pump, with one of those bottoms that gets higher as product is used so you get every bit out of it.... and the package is clear so you can see when you are running out. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. This is one of the best things I have ever added to my skincare routine. If you have flaky skin, clogged pores, and/or acne, you MUST TRY THIS!!!!!!! I can't wait until all my red marks from past acne are gone, because I think with this I have a chance for skin that I can actually go out without makeup!!!! I hope they never stop making this, because I don't know what I would do without it!!!!
