Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorskin Forever Flawless Perfection Fusion Wear Makeup (new - 2011 version)
CrisAlex 11/21/2012 7:02:00 PM
The coverage is great and it feels flawless. However, this foundation has a reddish tint to it that is so unnatural looking. That being said, it seems that this foundation is geared towards those with cooler complexions rather than for those with warmer tones. I'm warming this up with my MAC powder, but once it runs out, I will not be repurchasing. For reference I am C40 and was matched with Diorskin 040.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Sun Protecting Lip Balm SPF 8 with Passionfruit
CrisAlex 7/31/2012 5:08:00 PM
It's not that bad, but it's not that good either. I got this on the recommendation of a friend who said that it kept her lips from getting overly dry. I liked that it had some SPF, but there are better lipbalms out there with higher levels of SPF. The smell is awful and smells NOTHING like passionfruit. I feel misled by that claim because I was really hoping for a nice smelling lipbalm. This one smells like plastic. I just might throw it out since I have various other lipbalms that work SO much better.

Eyeliner -Smashbox - Limitless Liquid Liner Pen
CrisAlex 7/1/2012 6:36:00 PM
Just horrible! What's limitless about this eyeliner is the frustration that it brings. For 25 dollars I would expect a liner that at the very least would be pigmented and long-lasting. In addition to going over the line several times just to get a decent black line, I also have to contend with smudging that is so bad that I look like a racoon! For me, the real test is being able to go for a run and having a liner that stays put - those would be the Estee Lauder double wear (about the same price) and the Gosh waterproof liners (8 dollars less in Canada). But this one can't even pass the test of a morning doing errands! I've only had it a few weeks and it's drying out. Save your money and skip this one.

Tinted Moisturizer -Tarte - Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Mosturizer (Smooth Operator)
CrisAlex 5/28/2012 2:17:00 PM
Unfortunately, this product did not work for me. I spent over 50 Canadian dollars for this, and all it did was make me look like a white greasy ghost! I really wanted to like this and tried to make it work by dusting a darker powder over it, but in the end, I threw it in the garbage. No sense in giving it away to make someone else look just as bad. For reference, I'm NC40 and bought the Agent 14 that the Sephora SA recommended for me.

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose Doll Lashes
CrisAlex 4/2/2012 6:23:00 PM
Even though I technically didn't pay for this (I got it with my Shoppers Drug Mart optimum points), this product is such a waste! This mascara does nothing for my lashes. All I end up with is a set of separated lashes, which many MUAers here describe as doll lashes. No volume! No thickness! Maybe I got too used to the dramatic look I get with Hypnose. But seriously, I could have used my points for that instead. Now I have to go out and get myself a new mascara. This one's going to the trashcan.

BB Cream -Estee Lauder - Daywear BB Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Creme SPF 35
CrisAlex 3/12/2012 11:10:00 AM
This product is really expensive (about 45 dollars CDN), but it does come with a primer and a high SPF, which makes it worth every penny. I'm on the fence about the smell, which seems typical of several EL products, but it works great as a foundation for me. I dot on some concealer, apply this, and then dust on some powder and I'm good to go. The only thing I don't like is the opaque container - I have no idea how much I have left but then again, it's the product that counts, and in this case, it's a winner for me. EDIT: Okay, so looking at myself in different lighting, I noticed that this BB cream gives me a grayish-ashy look. While I still love the coverage, the fact that I look like a corpse is a deal-breaker. Now I have to find a new foundation because I don't want to keep looking like the living dead!

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Ombre Essentielle 51 Mahogany
CrisAlex 1/11/2012 9:28:00 PM
I'm surprised that there is just one review before this one! Like the other reviewer says, this shadow is a great deep matte brown. I use it as a liner, as a crease colour, and even to fill in my brows. A little really does go a long way, and it doesn't have the fallout that other shadows have. I love it!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Million Lashes
CrisAlex 9/6/2011 7:54:00 AM
This mascara is really crappy! It does nothing for my lashes and the brush is rough. The packaging isn't all that nice either. I bought it because I thought that maybe L'Oreal would have a good mascara, but lo and behold, this one is a real disappointment. Even my dried up Dior Show does a better job than this. What a waste of 12 dollars.

Eyeliner -Lancome - Le Stylo Waterproof Long Lasting eyeliner
CrisAlex 8/10/2011 6:21:00 PM
An awful product, especially considering that I spent 27 CDN dollars on this! Firstly, it tugs on the skin. Not only that, but it also the eyeliner breaks so easily. So little product, so poor quality - never again.

Lotions/ Creams -Cake Beauty - Decadent Hand Creme - Strawberry Shortcake
CrisAlex 8/6/2011 4:13:00 PM
Talk about memories from the 80s! I used to love Strawberry Shortcake when I was little and now she's back and my four year old loves her too. I really didn't need another hand cream but the smell was just too good to resist. And the packaging was oh so cute too...In terms of the cream itself, it's actually pretty good. Yes, the smell is a little plasticky and smells more like an exaggerated version of strawberries with marshmallows, but it's not over the top like some Body Shop creams. It's pretty rich and moisturizing, so I guess that despite its steep price (20 dollars CDN), it's not so bad of a deal, especially since it does its job. Would I buy this again? Yes - it's limited edition so I'll probably buy a couple more before they run out.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
CrisAlex 4/19/2011 9:11:00 AM
Nothing special at all. Really. Of course, the name itself was too good to be true, and all it does is thicken a bit and nothing for lengthening. Even at 5 bucks, this was a waste.

Lipstick -MAC - Spitfire
CrisAlex 2/15/2011 10:19:00 PM
I like this colour! I usually shy away from bright colours and tend to stick to the nudes but I decided to try something different. And the colour actually stayed on for a couple hours, which is reeeaaaallly long for me. Of course, I cannot do a smoky eye with this lipstick but it really does brighten my face. I'm not really a fan of the packaging though - kind of childish for my taste, but hey, it's the product inside that counts.

Eye Shadow -LORAC - Green Room
CrisAlex 2/2/2011 10:35:00 AM
As the other reviewers have noted, this colour is very intense and gorgeous. That being said, I do hesitate to wear it all over my lid. Instead, I use it as a crease colour and/or as a lower lash eyeliner. Just beautiful and nowhere near as irritating to the eye as all those MAC eyeshadows that I had to get rid of. Honestly I don't know if and when I will repurchase because this will last me a very long time but if it were to fall and shatter to pieces, yes, I would buy this again in a heartbeat. I give it 4 stars - I had to take one off for the lid (I hate screwcap lids) and the price.

Lotions/ Creams -Vaseline - Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning lotion
CrisAlex 11/20/2010 4:39:00 PM
I can't believe I still haven't reviewed t his product despite the amount of hate I have for it. Sorry to be a downer on all these positive reviews below but this product is so not worth buying. My partner bought a 3 pack of these at Costco and it's been torture trying to finish it. The smell is atrocious and NOTHING like cocoa or chocolate. In fact, it smells like some disgusting medicine. And the moisturizing power is not so great either. It stays on the skin like a nasty layer. Gross gross gross. Thankfully we're almost out of this garbage.

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Confidence Rouge Allure Extrait De Gloss
CrisAlex 10/10/2010 11:22:00 AM
Confidence is a really pretty pink colour that suits my skin tone (NC 40) really nicely. I've seen online swatches of this on many other skintones as well and they look great on them as well. I think this colour would look great on many skintones. Pros: 1. This colour is very wearable and work-appropriate. I wear this with Pink Explosion blush (also Chanel) on the cheeks along with MAC Patina and Chanel Mahogany (eyeshadows) and MAC On the Hunt (black liquid liner) on the eyes for a pretty but not overly done daytime look. 2. The staying power is actually really good too and the feel is nowhere near as sticky as the MAC glosses. 3. This product has a faint powdery smell that I find pleasant. Reminds me of baby powder. 4. I really like the applicator! The applicator is kind of wedge shaped and feels like a makeup sponge. Not hard at all like many other gloss applicators and you get no gloopy mess on your lips or on the tube. Cons: 1. It comes in a black tube (I have to look at the bottom so that I don't confuse it with Emoi and I have no idea how much product I have left) 2. The price is quite steep at 37 CDN dollars. But then again, there is a lot more product in it than MAC glosses so if you use these, then it is totally worth it. Despite the above cons, I know I will be using this one up and I will definitely repurchase!
