Fragrances -Serge Lutens - Chergui

Such an interesting fragrance. A few weeks ago a friend of mine smelled delicious, a mix of roses, smoke and vanilla so I had to ask her what she was wearing. She told me that she had also smelt Chergui on a friend and it was so good she went straight out to buy it. My friend had a LOT of this on so by the end of the evening I was in 2 minds about it as it was a little overpowering. I ordered a sample of this on Ebay and I am wearing it today, I love it!! My worries about this smelling too much like tobacco have completely disappeared, on me this starts out with the tobacco/hay smoky element but it turns into the most delicious slightly smoky vanilla scent. It smells expensive and exotic and I can't wait to wear this in the summer as I have read that the fragrance works well in the heat. I have ordered a full size bottle today :-) Thanks Serge!

Fragrances -Versace - Crystal Noir

I am always on the lookout for interesting new fragrances and as I often overlook Versace scents I was keen to try this out. Many reviews have noted the underlying coconut note so I thought this might be an interesting perfume. Sadly it isn't very 'noir' as it is actually quite light on me, the main issue for me is that it smells very similar to Sensuous Nude on my skin and as I already own that fragrance there is no point having both is my collection. Back to the search for that elusive signature scent!

Fragrances -Boucheron - Trouble

I first sniffed this in a department store a couple of years back and it really intrigued me. Cue a few years later and I ordered myself a bottle online. Oh dear :-( I had high hopes for this but I just can't get past that odd citrus note. It really reminds me of lemony raw cake mix but not in a good way, it is just a bit cloying. It is kind of a powdery lemon vanilla bomb but it smells as if the notes just don't blend. This certainly doesn't live up to its name, as 'Trouble' makes it sounds as though it should be sexy and alluring but actually it is inbetween a day and evening fragrance and quite strange to boot. Might work really well on some but not for me.

Fragrances -Carolina Herrera - 212 Sexy

There is a note in this perfume I really don't like, it reminds me of Tom Ford Black Orchid which I'm afraid I have a very low tolerance for these days (people have a tendency to douse themselves in it and I could cry, on the right woman it smells nice but woah...) I didn't find it sexy myself but for those that love Black Orchid I can see that this is a more wearable light version.

Fragrances -Bulgari - Jasmin Noir

I really wanted to like this, I like Bulgari fragrances in general (particularly Blv, Blv Notte and Pour Femme) and I wanted to try something that would be good for evenings. I sprayed this in the store and thought it smelt great but then my opinion changed. It is a little too sweet for me, plus I realised it smells incredibly similar to Estee Lauder Sensuous in the drydown (which I already own). A nice scent but there are better ones in the Bulgari range.

Fragrances -Moschino - I Love Love

I like this! It does smell a lot like D&G Light Blue (I can't believe some people are saying it doesn't, initially it smells almost exactly the same!) but with a hint more grapefruit. I used to wear Light Blue a lot but then too many people wore it so I gave it away. I was in the mood for a citrussy scent so I thought I would try this. It is available online quite cheaply. Initally all I could smell was Light Blue, but a grapefruit element quickly followed. It stays in this mix of Light Blue with added citrus fruits for a while but the dry down is slightly more floral and musky than Light Blue. To be honest I find that the Light Blue drydown is better but this scent is very pleasant. My boyfriend thought this smelt really good which is typical, he doesn't really like any of my exotic scents but a lemony one pleases him :-)

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Sensuous Nude
rated 3 of 5
Colourpop 8/26/2011 11:32:00 AM

I own the original Sensuous and I wear it when I am in the mood for a honey-smoky scent. I am a nightmare with perfumes, I have so many and I have to be in the right mood for certain ones :-) I sometimes fancy a bit of a coconutty or tropical scent but so many of them are too cloying or sweet, I heard that this had coconut water in it so I was intrigued. On initial spray it isn't great, it smells a bit like the original Sensuous gone wrong, then as it softens it smells a lot better, there is the faintest hint of coconut but it is essentially a mild version of the original Sensuous. The main issue with this is the lasting power, it is terrible! About an hour after I spray this I can hardly smell anything. It isn't offensive but I wouldn't buy it again, I like the coconut element but the original Sensuous is better. This could have been a really good light summery version of sensuous but it hasn't quite worked. EDIT: I actually do like this more now, it definitely doesn't last very long but I would buy this again

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle
rated 3 of 5
Colourpop 8/26/2011 11:23:00 AM

I love the original Hypnotic Poison, in cold weather it wraps me up in a delicious bitter almond/vanilla cloud. This one however just seems a bit pointless, I sprayed it on today and the floral element is actually not very nice on my skin, it has some kind of note in it that is making me feel a bit ill. It just smells like a weaker, diluted HP with some drab florals mixed in. Sometimes these flankers just seem to be money spinning ideas that have no real worth. Stick to the original Hypnotic Poison, it is 100 times better. Yes the original HP is strong but spray it with a light hand, it is way more sexy than this one.

As I am having a love affair with all things Tuberose I decided to try this fragrance. I am not a fan of celeb fragrances as they tend to be too sweet but I thought I would give this a go. On first spraying this the scent is a very strong, powerful tuberose with something sweet in the background. It dies down after a while and is a lot more pleasant but then it just fades into sweetness. It is a lot better than most celeb fragrances but there are so many better Tuberose fragrances, from Kilian Beyond Love to Michael Kors, Fracas etc.. This is just a bit too sweet, but for a cheaper Tuberose it isn't bad. I still think the Michael Kors fragrance is my favourite as it is soooo creamy.

Fragrances -Marc Jacobs - Eau De Parfum
rated 3 of 5
Colourpop 8/16/2011 6:55:00 AM

I think I had higher hopes for this fragrance. Recently I have become more and more addicted to Tuberose and also some Gardenia fragrances. I read that this fragrance was a milky Gardenia so I thought it would have more depth, I also saw the dreaded word 'aquatic' written in a few reviews but I chose to ignore it...I have always had an issue with fragrances that are a little too aquatic, they just have a note that is a little too sharp or fake on my skin. This perfume is very nice and clean but it just isn't anything special on me. Yes it is light and easy to wear but I want something with just a little more edge. I will use it from time to time but in terms of rich flowery perfumes I will stick to Tuberose. This will probably be lovely on a lot of people, it just isn't right on me. If you want something that smells really 'clean' I prefer Estee Lauder Pleasures.

Mascara -Chanel - Inimitable Intense Mascara
rated 5 of 5
Colourpop 2/23/2011 7:01:00 PM

I love this mascara! I have tried so many mascaras and I find that most of them never live up to the hype. I use Lancome Hypnose and L'Oreal Telescopic as I find that they do actually give body and length to my fine lashes. I have tried the normal Inimitable before and was disappointed, it gave me very average lashes. This however is very different, the black pigment is fantastic and my lashes look full, long and really black. This mascara is expensive but it is fantastic, definitely an HG.

Fragrances -Gucci - Gucci Rush
rated 2 of 5
Colourpop 12/2/2010 9:05:00 AM

I used to wear Gucci Rush when I was around 19, but even then I liked it for a couple of months before my love turned to hatred :- ( I understand that scents are very particular to the wearer so this is just my personal opinion. There is something about this scent that now makes me feel nauseous when I smell someone wearing it, I am not sure which note it is but there is something too harsh, chemical and acidic. Maybe with the right chemistry it smells ok but I can never wear this one again! It has such an odd smell, not distinctive in a good way but overpowering. I like unusual perfumes but this one is on my list of baddies.

Fragrances -Valentino - Valentino V Absolu
rated 3 of 5
Colourpop 11/26/2010 11:15:00 AM

I found this in a TK Maxx store, I remembered using 'Very' by Valentino years ago and I usually enjoy his scents. Initially it is a pleasant fragrance, quite creamy and sweet but not too cloying, quite fresh. Unfortunately as some other users on here mentioned it then turned into something very odd with a hint of a spicy curry type smell??!! I smelled the sleeve of my coat thinking 'what is that curry smell?' and it was this! Strange, and maybe my nose has gone crazy, but I won't be using this anymore...

Fragrances -Michael Kors - Michael
rated 4 of 5
Colourpop 9/2/2010 7:43:00 AM

I have had a complete reversal on this, I thought I couldn't wear it but now I love it :-) I first smelt this on a friend earlier in the year, she smelt incredible, like a tropical cocktail, floral yet creamy. She told me it was Michael Kors so I bought myself a bottle. Sadly it just didn't work, I thought it was way too strong on me. Cue several months later, I was curious to try this again so I bought the EDT. Although more subtle it doers not have the same creaminess as the EDP. I gave in and bought the EDP last night and now I adore it. The tuberose note I was scared of is now less of an issue as it fades quite quickly on my skin and I am left with a delicious cloud of creamy florals. Lovely!

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle 05
rated 3 of 5
Colourpop 8/25/2010 6:27:00 AM

I love the way this colour looks in the advert with Vanessa Paradis, sadly on me it looks totally different :-( I am fair with blue eyes and my lips are quite pink, on me this showed a lot of orange which surprised me, the assistant on the counter agreed. She said it can have a slight coral edge to it on a lot of people. I like the texture and if the shade works for you I'm sure this looks great, for me I will look for something else. To be honest I feel like there is a lot of hype surrounding the Rouge Coco range and the fact is that matte lipsticks can be very difficult to wear-the power of advertising lured me in!
