Liquid -Unlisted Brand - FACE atelier Ultra Foundation

This is my favourite foundation. It's the kind of foundation that gets people wondering why your skin is so perfect. I use it for special occasions/date nights when I want to look my best. The coverage is amazing, a little goes a long way. I only need to spot conceal redness around my nose and some pigmentation. I gave it to my mom to use, and it works wonders on her mature skin which needs more coverage. I'm shade 04 (MAC NC20/25). It is pricy in my opinion, so I don't use it everyday...I would if I could!

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
rated 2 of 5
Chingers 12/4/2009 10:47:00 AM

Pros - Great selection of undertones! The "warm" selection is very yellow based! - Best for oily skin (I have normal/combination skin and crave more moisture) Cons - Needs to be blended very quickly before it dries to a 'powder' finish or else it will look caky - Poor lasting power (without primer) - Low-medium coverage at best

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Black Out Mascara

This needs to be waterproof. Period. There is nothing worse then a super black mascara that runs at the first sight of emotion...or wind...or rain. The dark circle smudges I had are monstrous.

Lipstick -Unlisted Brand - Thevi - High Impact Lipstick

This is a well-made product. Unbelievably moisturizing. It doesn't feel heavy and glides on very smoothly. The lighter shades has a pearly finish, I'm not sure about the darker shades. No shimmer or sparkles though, just a nice sheen on the lips that makes them look fuller. I love wearing this:)

Powder -Silk Naturals - Mineral Foundation
rated 5 of 5
Chingers 10/3/2008 4:48:00 PM

Custom mix foundation: what a fabulous idea! No one knows your skin tone better than yourself, so bring out the inner make up artist. (sorry, do I sound like a paid sales rep? Well, I assure you I'm not). At first Silk Naturals only had three bases to choose from, but recently they expanded their selection to five colour bases and three coverage levels. I was already satisfied with their original selection, but I found adding a bit of Peach base to my mix improved the match even more...and since the original formula overs light-medium coverage, I ordered the heavier coverage formulas. Now this is everything I am looking for. I have combination skin that rarely breaks out, so I haven't experienced any side-effects reported by other users. It's just a great formula, very well priced too! I highly recommend everyone at least give it a try.

Mascara -NYX - Doll Eye Mascara - Volume
rated 5 of 5
Chingers 8/17/2008 7:23:00 PM

On NYX Doll Eye Volume: First I must confess that I have only used pharmacy brand mascaras before, so of course compared to those, Doll Eye is AMAZING. Thanks to aishiteru21's in depth review and technique tutorial, I learned to make the most out of this mascara and I am quite pleased. Never have I seen my lashes so long and lush. I don't have very many lashes to begin with, but I like how this mascara coats each lash without clumping. It is also smudge free, even when I take it off at night with make up remover it does not give me panda eyes but simply flakes away in little rinsible pieces. One thing I wish this mascara would do is hold a curl. No matter which eyelash curler I use, by noon the curl disappears. Stupid Asian lashes.... I find that I have to combine this mascara with another one with a waterproof formula to help the curl factor. Next time I will get the waterproof version of Doll Eye Volume, I am sure it would be my HG then!

Bronzers -Unlisted Brand - MAD Minerals - Loose Mineral Bronzer - Bronze
rated 5 of 5
Chingers 7/22/2008 8:56:00 PM

I absolutely love this bronzer...and I am not really into tanning, ironically! It is highly pigmented and finely milled with a gorgeous golden shimmer (not glitzy/glittery or fake). The first time used it I used too much! I am a light/medium toned and I use a tiny amount as blush and/or to contour, or dust over the forehead/bridge of nose for a great sunkissed look. I would highly recommend for light-medium gals, for very pale girls definitely try the Baby Bronze.

Eyes -Unlisted Brand - MAD Minerals - Mineral Eyeshadow/Eyeliner Sealant
rated 5 of 5
Chingers 7/22/2008 8:43:00 PM

I got the sample bottle of this product and it is AMAZING for wetlining/ foiling. Not only do I use it with powder eyeliner, I also tried it with shadow for extra adherence. I recommended it more for liner usage as it dries rather quickly and would not allow for effective blending of eyeshadow powders (although packing colors on is no problem). A very small drop is enough. It dries quite fast once it is mixed with the powder, which means minimal drying time once applied, but on the other hand, this means one should apply it immediately. A note though, I find that minerals from other brands may not work as well (pigment payoff not as good to begin with). Even with one brand, the color payoff and texture of different powders differ (through no fault of this sealant), and some colors are just not meant to be used wet.

Makeup Brushes -Coastal Scents - Mini Italian Badger Brush Set
rated 5 of 5
Chingers 7/14/2008 4:15:00 PM

I would like to disagree with the previous viewer that the brushes are too small to be suited for everyday use. As far as I can tell, the only thing that shrunk is the length of the handles. The density, size and softness of the bristles are comparable to full size brushes. In fact, I see the shorter handles as a bonus: no more bumping into mirrors! As someone who is space deficient and on a budget, I have used this set on a daily basis for several months (N.B. I am a make up newbie). The brushes do shed a hair or two once in a while (especially the crease brush), and it certainly maintains its initial softness (with frequent washing) All I have to say is that I love this set very much, and it is such a satisfying tool set that I haven't had the desire to purchase additional brushes.

Powder -Unlisted Brand - J.Lynne Mineral Foundation
rated 5 of 5
Chingers 6/18/2008 12:34:00 PM

I got several shades of this foundation as samples when they had the sample baggie clear out sale back in April. I am Asian with yellow/peach undertones and in the winter I wear Fair Warm 0.8. "The coverage is on the heavy side, especially with the wet method. It's comparable to Meow Cosmetics Flawless Feline formula." *edit: I now decided that J.Lynne's formula is heavier than Meow's Flawless Feline. Even the texture of the powder is coarser just by looking and feeling it through the plastic sample baggies. Since I like applying my mmu wet with Fix+, this just means that I spray more Fix+ and apply it quicker to avoid caking. I have combination skin with dry patches, so unless I use the wet method I run the risk of looking cakey. I can imagine this line as an excellent option for oily skin. Don't know about breakouts since I don't react to anything. In terms of the packaging, I like how they used a baggie with a thick resealable band. With other companies I end up tearing the baggie and making the mess...not with J.Lynne! The customer service was great! Normally the shipping to Canada is over 5 bucks which I would have gladly paid, except J.Lynne emailed me a day later, told me that my baggies fit into a small envelope and refunded part of the shipping fee. How awesome is that?

Eyeliner -Unlisted Brand - MAD Minerals Indelible Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Black Cherry
rated 5 of 5
Chingers 6/7/2008 6:49:00 PM

After all the raves, I gave in as well. It took me a few tries to learn how to work this product properly because the balm-like texture requires a stiffer brush for the correct application. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of the correct tool for application. The colour is exactly what I am looking for. Not a boring flat black. For a everyday look, the soft black is excellent. It is also very layerable for deeper shades. What got me addicted, is the fact this eyeliner stays exactly where you put it. No budge, no smudge. Superior to any pencil liner out there. With practice (which would only take a day or two), it's just as fast to dip a brush in and apply on compared to traditional eyeliner. Since the texture is dryer than liquid eyeliner, I use a tiny bit of this to lightly shade and shape my brows. The little jar lasts FOREVER! Talk about value! NB: keep the damn pot tightly sealed at all times! I left it open for a day and I could tell some of the moisture escaped. Luckily the consistency hasn't changed and I didn't waste any product. So, it's not the end of the world if you did leave it open for an hour, but why would you do such a thing to such an amazing product?

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - Mad Minerals - Oak Bronze
rated 5 of 5
Chingers 6/7/2008 6:36:00 PM

Oak Bronze is featured in many of the colour chart photos on MAD mineral's web page for a great reason: it is fabulous! It appears much darker in the sample baggie, but to get the marvelous colour pop you do need to wetline or wear primer. You don't need very much, the colour payoff is amazing. But it is such a rich and warm shade of copper. Because of my yellow/peach Asian skin tone, at times Oak Bronze can appear a bit too warm/orangy depending on how I pair it with other colours. I can imagine it would be beautiful on darker coloured gals or fairer folks though! Give this colour a try, if you want to bring some serious colour pop to your daily neutrals and generate attention to your eyes...Oak Bronze is the way to go.

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - Mad Minerals Eyeshadow - 7300
rated 5 of 5
Chingers 6/7/2008 6:30:00 PM

I love love love this colour. I agree with the previous reviewer that the photo doesn't do it justice. I could tell this colour was special as soon as I saw it in the sample baggie because the bag was multi-dimensionally coloured by it. The sheen ranged from warm peachy tones to lusty metallic golden green. This makes 7300 a very versatile shade: pair it with warm and firey oranges, to chocolate neutrals, to vibrant greens. It can also be a great highlighter, owing to the high shimmer content. Some times I dust a light coat of 7300 over my gel eyeliner to make it a shimmery multi-dimensional green...boring eyeliner no more! The texture is very fine, which makes it a delight to wear! One of my must have HG eyeshadows. Just try it!

Eye Shadow -Rimmel - Cool Touch Shadow
rated 4 of 5
Chingers 4/10/2008 9:46:00 AM

I got this in Champagne in a bargain bin. Champagne is a warm copper and looks gorgeous when tested on the side of my hand. First I thought this shadow would work as a liquid liner....oops. Too thick and dries cakey and flakey. I almost gave up on it! However, I now discovered that I needed to use a light hand (ring finger) to spread the shadow quickly and evenly over the entire lid for an instant shimmer and brighten effect. I agree with the others that this product dries too quickly. Little also goes a long way, and putting on too much is a very unforgiving mistake. A light hand and spare use is a must with this product! Although I can achieve all day wear with this shadow, it doesn't feel very good on, my eyelids can feel tight (skin wants to breath) and I have to remember *not* to touch it! *update* I find the feeling of tightness less of a problem now that I have worn it for weeks. The staying power is amazing! Also makes a fabulous base. I have changed my initial impression of this product. If I can get this again for under $4, I totally would!

Foundations -Signature Minerals - Foundation
rated 3 of 5
Chingers 4/7/2008 3:08:00 PM

I wish this foundation works for me. I had high hopes after reading about the quality of the ingredients and noting the generous product sizes. I was also happy to see testimonials by Asians on their website, so I thought this foundation was for me. Well, the shades I chose were all too dark and too yellow/olive! The coverage was light...even after I applied several layers with a flocked sponge! I understand that most of their clients wanted a natural look, but I felt that the foundation offered no coverage! The product did not feel cakey in anyway, however. I also tried the multitasking concealer and was not happy with how my skin just "ate up" the concealer and the redness stayed! This is the first company I decided to try and the lack of results almost turned me off mmu completely! Where's the glow, weightless and flawless coverage I've been hearing about? Not on my face. So this product did not work for me. I didn't find the right shade, nor did it offer the coverage I was looking for.
