Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara
Centro 10/5/2010 5:11:00 PM
Bought this back at end of July as I needed a waterproof mascara for camp. I'm so glad I made this purchase because I haven't been this happy with a mascara in a really long time. Alright so maybe calling it "falsies" is a little exaggerated, but I get superb length and volume, I'll tell you that. I love this even more than CG Lashblast and I thought that was already above my level of expectation. It was love at first swipe... it was able to coat most, if not all my lashes. The colour is deeeeeep black and unlike Lashblast or Voluminous, it stays true to colour (not a gross greyish tint) and glossy for the whole day. I use an eyelash curler; it holds curl like no other. My lashes manage to stay curled all day long from 7:30am to 8pm through sweat and my bad habit of eye-rubbing. This baby also passed the swim and tears test. Trust me on this one, it doesn't ever smudge or flake. I have to admit at days I feel like it's TOO dramatic for me but hey, this is supposed to give you that big look-at-me lashes look right? One thing I have to mention though is that it's a b**** to remove; you really have to work an oil-based makeup remover in. It's now October and I can tell it's drying/running out... I find myself taking out a lash comb more often to get the clumps off. Honestly though it still looks fabulous on. I think I'm gonna have to go out and grab another tube of falsies. Kudos to Maybelline, you've won my heart! My HG? Perhaps. Will I recommend it? Definitely!
Sorry to disagree with the majority of the reviewers here but I didn't enjoy this mascara as much as I wanted to. I understand that this is supposed to be nothing dramatic, but just a simple everyday mascara. It did very little to my lashes... they somewhat lengthened but no noticeable volume was added. I like the fact that it never clumps. However it could not hold a curl and my lashes ended up looking droopy. I found the formula too wet for my liking. I would not buy this again.
Eye Makeup Remover -Neutrogena - Oil Free eye makeup remover
Centro 6/13/2010 10:10:00 PM
So basically previous reviewers already said it all. But I feel like I should add my 2 cents. THIS MAKEUP REMOVER IS THE SH**! I've tried Lancome's Bi-Facil at my friend's house and I can honestly say I am more impressed with my Neutrogena. I can get rid of ALL my waterproof eyeliner & mascara in 1 fully soaked cotton pad. I love the fact I don't have to tug my eyes to get rid of eye makeup; it's almost effortless to get the job done. I have been using it every night before shower and I question myself why bother trying a new makeup remover when I'm already happy with this? In case you're wondering It did not sting my sensitive, easily irritated eyes thank god. One thing I'd like to add though, is that if I don't completely wash it off, there will be some white residue (looks like flaky skin?) left on my lids.
Eye Makeup Remover -Almay - Moisturizing eye makeup remover liquid
Centro 6/10/2010 4:48:00 PM
Stay away from this makeup remover! I was happy with the waterproof eyeliner so I decided to try out their makeup remover. Horrible mistake. I had to go through at least 5 cotton rounds to get ALL my makeup off. And the thing is I only wear eyeliner and mascara on a daily basis. It is fairly expensive for drugstore brand and you don't really get a lot of product for the price.
This nail polish looked great on the outside. It looked like a promising, solid baby pink colour. The formula was decent, but still much better than "Fiji". Why did I give it 2 lippies? It turned friggin ORANGE after my nails dried. I examined the bottle carefully and nope, I don't see a tiny bit of orange hue in it. I love essie but Van d'Go is a no-no.
I first heard about using Visine for reducing blemishes' redness from a close friend. I was curious and surprised at the same... I mean, hey you use it on your eyes for the same purpose right? But I wasn't sure if it would actually help so I decided to give it a try, I got nothing to lose. I first put a drop or two of Visine on a q-tip. Before I stored it in the freezer, I placed it inside a small plastic baggie so that it wouldn't have direct contact with the compartments, which are full of bacteria. I took it out of the freezer after about an hour. I pressed it hard against a recently developed pimple. It felt sooo cool and nice but when I lifted it, it seemed to swell up even more. I was obviously a little disappointed but within 15 minutes the blemish was noticeably smaller. The redness also seemed to vanish as well! I have extremely sensitive skin so next time I will be sure to be gentle. Definitely recommend this to everyone, it is super convenient to have a couple q-tips ready after you pop those little devils. Yes they really work :)
I received this in a swap last month and I have been using it everyday in my morning routine. I have sensitive and combination skin: oily t-zone, normal on cheeks. The so-called "lightweight" moisturizers I have tried in the past tend to fail me because they either break me out or I find them too greasy. Matte Chance was a pleasant surprise. It absorbs very quickly and the matte finish lasts for a good couple of hours. Although I wish the effect lasted longer, the blemishes on my forehead have drastically reduced over the weeks all thanks to this moisturizer as it keeps the oil at bay. It's does a superb job and this is exactly what I need for summertime. The smell isn't a major concern (It smells like vanilla mixed with chemicals). I find the airless pump design quite useless. I have to shake it to get the product out and it dispenses different amount each time. **EDIT: The pump finally stopped working and when I untwisted the top I found out there was still a lot, and I mean A LOT of product left in the jar. Not impressed with the design at all.
Conditioner -Alberto Vo5 - Strawberries & Cream smoothing conditioner
Centro 5/6/2010 8:25:00 PM
Definite no-no! I purchased this condition mostly because the strawberry & cream packaging sucked me in. It smells artificially delicious... which strangely appeals to me; think strawberry creme campino candies! Now in terms of the effectiveness of the conditioner itself, I am going to give it thumbs down. It leaves behind a heavy, cheap feeling type of coating on my hair and I have a really hard time washing it off. Basically it makes my hair looks smooth and flat but definitely not soft to touch. I would not recommend as it seems like I put wax on my head.
TERRIBLE PRODUCT.. I bought this by accident thinking it was the retractable eyeliner. The tip of the liquid liner is so stiff and sharp that it hurts to apply on my lashline. The liquid itself is hardly pigmented and very little colour shows up. It fades away within an hour. I can't believe I wasted $10 on this piece of junk.
Before you read this review, I would like to point out that I'm very picky when it comes to mascaras. I have been using Voluminous everyday for about 2 months now. Initially I really didn't like this product because I found the formula to be too wet and it ended up being quite clumpy. It started to grow on me after about a month or so, the formula became drier and it was easier to separate lashes with the wand. The clumps have reduced to about 60% or so. The colour payoff was great, I bought this in black and in my opinion, it is as dark as the Carbon Black version (which I hated unfortunately). In terms of volume, it is buildable but just like many of the mascaras I tried, applying 2 coats will simply result in spider legs so I usually go with just one. I found that CG's LashBlast provided more volume for my lashes whereas Voluminous added both length and volume (not as much as LashBlast though). Voluminous also has a certain gloss to it which I like since LashBlast made my lashes look stiff and dry. It held my curl all day so that's always good. Although this wasn't waterproof, it managed to stay on through sweat and minor tears (heavy yawner here) without flaking or smudging. I will probably purchase again but I'm still in search of my HG mascara.
This fantastic multi-tasker should be a staple in every household. My absolute favourite use for Vaseline is to depot it into a small clear sample jar and keep it with me on the go as lip balm. It especially comes in very handy during wintertime when you just want to lock in moisture on your ankles and knees. Some may say it is too greasy and I agree, but it delivers what it is supposed to do. And really, for the price can you possibly complain? You name it, Vaseline does it!
Concealers -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfector [DISCONTINUED]
Centro 4/15/2010 11:52:00 AM
Due to the many positive reviews here, I decided to purchase one and see for myself. At first I was uncertain of applying it under my eyes, because from past experiences with concealers they would either make my dark circles to appear even more noticeable or just looking dehydrated around my eyes. I was astonished at how well it covered up my dark circles! I gave it a few minutes to set and my eyes looked visibly brighter and more awaked. It matched my skin colour almost perfectly and did not look too dry. If I took a few steps back from the mirror it looked so natural and I dare to say, flawless! I also used it to conceal my blemishes and it did an above average job. The downside to this concealer is that it does not last very long and tends to fade away in the middle of the day. The highlighter is amazing, it emphasizes my brow bones and cheekbones without screaming I have makeup on. **For those who notice fine lines after applying concealer, be sure to moisturize your eyes well beforehand. It also makes a whole lot of difference if you look up (instead of looking straight) when blending so that the liquid itself won't crease under your eyes.
Conditioner -Dove - Go Fresh Energize Grapefruit & Lemongrass conditioner

Could not agree more with previous reviewer. The conditioner is almost useless- it just didn't feel right and left heavy buildup on my hair. Only good side is that it smells amazing.
Shampoo -Dove - Energize Grapefruit and Lemongrass Shampoo
Centro 4/14/2010 1:23:00 PM
This is a review for the original yellow bottle. I absolutely adore the scent of this shampoo, even more than Herbal Essences. It smells so refreshing and clean.. which always gives me the urge to shower. It is however, unfortunate that the shampoo did not do much to my hair and left my hair feeling rough and looking dry. Below average product and hopefully their new formula will be improved.
Polishes -Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri Whirlwind White
Centro 4/13/2010 6:24:00 PM
My friend recommended Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri line to me a while back. Initially I loved the way the brush is shaped and how east it is to apply the polish in just one stroke, with the exception of my thumbnail. Then I realized the nail polish's quality went downhill within 2 months. The formula gradually became goopy and rough, which led to visible strokes leaving behind. It also eventually lost its glossiness which made it look like as if I had white out on my nails. Not impressed and will not repurchase.
