I have looked my entire life for non-smudging mascara. No lie. Something about me - my oily skin, the fact that my eyes are deep set, and my eyelashes are pretty long - blonde, but long, but mascara smudges like mad on me. It got to the point that I just gave up and dyed my eyelashes - you can buy the kits in the UK, Germany, Iceland, basically everywhere but in America. Probably afraid some idiot will mis-use it and sue them. Anyway! This mascara does NOT smudge. I don't use it on my bottom lashes - honestly, who does that anyway? I use it on my top lashes - barely a touch, and comb it through. Two applications is too much - it looks overdone & clumps a bit (but still, no smudging, no flaking) It's a MIRACLE. Plus, unlike the Japanese mascaras (Fiberwig) that were my last non-smudging choice, it does not dry up in a month. Genius stuff.
This is my signature scent. My husband and my daughters adore it on me. I kid them that it's because one of the notes is CHOCOLATE. I kid you not. Very sophisticated, sensual warm fragrance. I don't wear it in the summer b/c it's a bit heavy for the hot days. The lotion is delicious. I am always getting compliments about how good I smell - I mean, really, it's so nice when you give someone a hug, and they step back and say, "You smell amazing!" I never spray fragrance behind my ears - someone told me once that that's where your natural pheromones are - could be rubbish, but whatever. I spray in my decolletage, down my back, my wrists, and my inner elbows.
I've never purchased a Chubby Stick - it's always been a part of a gift with purchase. (And confession - I got some freebies when I was working in PR.) But, they last forever, they are a good alternative to lipgloss - without about the same staying power (not great) but very moisturizing. And there's something about it that is just adorable. The colors are the best - very wearable, even the colors that I would not usually think would work for me - because they are so sheer. Plus, in a pinch, it doubles as a blush touch-up. A great all purpose product to throw in your bag when you are running around all day. Plus, the older I get the more I am all about the sheer and the moisturizing. Works a lot better - matte lipstick can be aging. DEWY! That's the ticket. How great is it that I don't have to carry a sharpener?
I've been dying my hair since I was 20 - when I moved to England, that was the norm, really. So, I'm a veteran. In my mid 30's I switched to using Feria b/c the colors were really fashion forward for the States. However - I had to stop with the Feria, b/c it was taking the wave out of my natural loose curls. My hairdresser clued me in - he told me that I needed to switch brands & eventually my curl would come back. He was right - and I've avoided all L'Oreal brands since then.
I love this product - it's not easy to find a leave in conditioner without silicones - but it is stupid expensive. I think the people who were disappointed in it are used to the results of a silicone product & perhaps they want a mirror sheen - I'm not going for that - I want some smoothing into curl definition & liveliness. I don't blow dry - I just work this into my hair after my shower w/ a little Ouidad Tress FX & I'm good to go. I like that it is not too heavy on the moisture so there's no worry about greasiness.
Why this product is special in a nutshell: it delivers crazy hydration & curl definition WITHOUT SILICONE. My hair hates silicone- that plastic may smooth, but it builds up my thick hair, weighs it down so that it looks like some kind of giant wig. Almost every product on the market has dimethicone or some cone right up there - finding a product without it is a challenge. The price point is high - but it's reliable & since I color my curly hair sometimes I just have to have a sure thing. I've been using this for over 10 years - I used to make a special trip to the salon on 57th Street to buy it. (Never had my hair cut there though!) TIP: works great as a leave in conditioner as well. That being said - I have no patience for the blow drier / heat treatment they recommend - I barely have a functioning blow drier (it's for guests!) Still works great though!
