Mascara -Revlon - Grow Luscious - waterproof
Canuck317 2/24/2011 10:29:00 PM
I was excited to try the waterproof formula in this mascara, since using waterproof is the only way my lashes will hold a curl. I'm a fan of the brush.....it might be a nostalgic thing, but it makes my lashes pretty and feathery. For about 10 minutes, and then this mascara strangely begins to dissolve. After an hour I had a bit of smudging on my lids and undereye area....within 3 hours it had smudged so badly that there was more mascara on my lids and under my eyes than left on my lashes! My lids are not oily, nor is my face, so how a waterproof formula dissolves this rapidly is beyond me. This formula also made my eyes tired, red and sore.....good thing I keep Visine at work :) The regular price of this is around $9.99 Cdn. but I bought it on sale for $6.99. It isn't worth $0.99, so I'm going to try to return it..... I'm sick of spending money on mascaras that don't work. It's one of my 2011 resolutions :)

Lip Treatments -Neosporin - Lip Health Daily Hydration Therapy Suncreen SPF 20
Canuck317 10/27/2009 11:32:00 PM
I'm a lip balm addict and I've tried them all. My bff swears I re-apply at least every 20 minutes and she's probably not exaggerating that much :) But this stuff is really amazing, and I find that I don't feel the need to re-apply very often. My lips are definitely softer...not that they were ever really chapped to begin with (how can they be when you are putting on lip balm every 20 minutes?). Neosporin has replaced my beloved Kiehl's as my HG lip balm/treatment....and I love that it's less than $4 US. I'm not bothered by the white colour since it's not meant to be applied like lip gloss. A little goes a long way with this product.

Lipstick -Merle Norman - Luxiva Lip Color in Penny Lane
Canuck317 6/22/2008 6:39:00 PM
Love this colour! I agree that the fragrance/taste could be changed, or eliminated altogether, and is probably one of the reasons why Merle Norman is still regarded as an "old-lady" line of makeup. I mean no disrespect, since I've reached the early stages of middle-age myself! But the colour is really pretty.....it's great with a neutral eye, or with nothing at all, and just brings a little extra warmth to my face without clashing with my hair. On me, it's a light coppery-peach, more copper (as in penny...duh) than peach, has a barely-there shimmer, and the staying power is really good.

Eye Shadow -Merle Norman - Eyeshadow Quad in IVY
Canuck317 3/9/2008 4:53:00 PM
Just picked this up the other night (my first MN purchase) and wore it for the first time today....really beautiful!!! I used the lightest green over the lid, and the darkest green in the crease....and it makes my dark blue eyes look amazing! I rarely buy e/s in quads because I end up only using one or two of the colours, but this was one of those rare collections where I liked all the colours....even the light yellow one, which has a nice little iridescent finish to it. I used the MN eye pencil in Copperized (another great product...and waterproof!) with it and a sheer l/s in the new Tulips To Kiss.....very very happy with the overall look. Very fresh and ready for spring. I will definitely be checking out more of the MN products as new collections come out.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Viva Glam VI Lipglass
Canuck317 2/24/2008 9:09:00 AM
LOVE LOVE LOVE this lipgloss! The staying power is good, and I love how it looks on me. I wear it anytime, day or evening....the sparkles aren't huge bits of glitter that would make me look like one of those freaky-40-something women that are desperately trying to look young and trendy and just end up looking like a cartoon character. I would definitely purchase this again, and if I even get a whiff of a plan to discontinue it, I would buy it in bulk.

Polishes -MAC - Whirlwind
Canuck317 8/26/2007 7:18:00 PM
This is a LE polish from MAC, which is why I've already purchased a backup bottle.....I love this colour!! I should mention that I'm a fair skinned redhead with freckles, so this is a little out my comfort zone of pinks and reds, but I can't stop looking at my hands! It is a teal shimmer, but depending on the light and shading, it changes from blue to emerald green....its like having a peacock feather on your fingers! It might not be for the faint of heart, or for a boardroom setting, but it's a gorgeous fun colour that wouldn't look out of place in any season.

Polishes -OPI - Romeo & Joliet
Canuck317 10/4/2006 10:01:00 PM
I LOVE THIS COLOUR!! I can't stop looking at my nails! I'm very warm toned (red hair, freckles) and this looks perfect on me. And it's the first time that I've been told that the colour I was wearing was very sexy. If that doesn't move this shade up to my top 5, I don't know what would! It's just a gorgeous blend of brown and bronze.....definite holy grail of nail polish!!

Polishes -Nicole - Nail Polish in Fanatical Fuschia
Canuck317 9/17/2006 11:01:00 PM
This colour has just been bumped up into my top 5. I absolutely love it! Two coats creates a deep fuschia/purple that flashes a deeper purple/blue. Reminds me of OPI Pompeii Purple, but Fanatical Fuschia is much more on the purple side. It's hard to describe, but it's gorgeous. I'm a warm toned, very fair skin, and received many compliments. It's a very bold colour, and I'm sure it's going to look amazing as a pedi too! I'd definitely repurchase if I can ever get my hands on it again!

Polishes -Essie - Tennis Corset
Canuck317 8/12/2006 9:02:00 AM
Now this is a pretty polish! It's a little more sheer than Mademoiselle...not as milky, but just enough to soften up the look of your tips. And the gold flecks add just the right amount of "bling". I prefer this to Nude Beach and Anniversary Gala (both Essie) because sometimes I'm just not in the mood for iridescence, but Tennis Corset is a very polished look with just a bit of extra. Two coats was very smooth, no streaking, and no chipping. I'm sure it would look gorgeous as a French mani. I would re-purchase this colour again.

Polishes -Orly - Des Fleurs
Canuck317 8/3/2006 10:55:00 PM
I agree that this colour is a little oddly "garish" for such a beautiful bottle colour, but that's only after 2 coats. I put one coat on over Essie Mademoiselle and it turned into just the perfect amount of barely-there pink. Very pretty on my fair skinned, warm toned hands. It also has a very slight shimmer to it. I don't think I'd get through an entire bottle of this, so I doubt I would have to repurchase it. But for now, it's a nice clean look.

Polishes -Orly - Dish It Out
Canuck317 8/3/2006 7:44:00 PM
This is a very pretty sheer dusty pink, and looked very nice on my fair skinned, warm toned hands. I had no problem with application, it went on very smooth with no streaking. I probably wouldn't buy it again because there are other sheer pinks that I would use more frequently, like Essie Sugar Daddy, but this one is very pretty too.

Polishes -OPI - My Daddys the King
Canuck317 7/8/2006 12:04:00 PM
Nice colour, but on my fair skinned, warm toned skin it just looked.....ok. Nothing special. I needed 3 coats to make it completely opaque, but the application was typical OPI...lovely. It's a beautiful colour....very soft peach (no pink that I can see)....but I guess beautiful peach just doesn't compliment my tips. It might looks great on someone with a tan. It's a shame, because I love the name....maybe I'll try it as a pedi.

Polishes -OPI - Girls Love Pink
Canuck317 7/8/2006 11:58:00 AM
Great colour!!! This looks so good as a pedi that I didn't want to remove it....it's perfect for summer or for feeling girly without TOO much glitter. It even works on my tips, where I usually shy away from glitter, but this is understated glitter...no chunks, just fine "glitter dust". The colour looks wonderful on my very fair, warm toned skin so I'm very happy with it.

Polishes -OPI - Dont Know Beets Me
Canuck317 6/21/2006 10:30:00 PM
I can't stop looking at my nails! This colour is fantastic! I'm very fair skinned, warm toned, and I love how this deep hot pink looks on me. No shimmer, no glitter, just a beautiful creme finish. Great summer colour....would look amazing on toes as well.

Polishes -OPI - Valen-time for Love
Canuck317 6/21/2006 10:28:00 PM
One of my favorite colours to date.....beautiful hot pink with a fuschia flash. On summer toes it is amazing to look at.....and it always looks great on tips. It's bright, but it's not crazy look-who's-trying-to-be-all-trendy bright. Application is perfect, as with all OPI polishes that I have had. No streaking, wore for 5 days with just a teeny bit of wear at the tips, but no chipping at all. Definite repurchase.
