Mascara -Marcelle - Power Volume
rated 4 of 5
Canadianadia 9/2/2012 9:29:00 PM

This is another 2-for-1 purchase I made at Winners some time ago for $4.99. Although the mascara itself isn't good enough to gain holy grail status, if I could always get it at this price I would but it again and again. I had a minor mishap with one of my tubes and when I was closing it, a piece of the cap broke off, and for sanitary reasons I had to toss this mascara a little sooner than I would have liked. I didn't have this problem with my second tube, so hopefully this was just an anomaly or a user error.

Mascara -Marcelle - Volume Precision
rated 4 of 5
Canadianadia 9/2/2012 9:21:00 PM

I bought this Marcelle Volume precision in a 2-for-1 pack for $4.99 at Winners a few months ago and now I wish I bought more. It puts a nice base coat on my lashes and seperates them. Once this is dry I use a light coat of thickening mascara on top to give more volume, Although I would prefer a formula that provides the length and thickness in one product, burfor the price I have no complaints.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 3 of 5
Canadianadia 11/22/2011 4:48:00 PM

So I like the idea of this product, but the Urban Decay Primer Potion was a pretty big dissapointment to me overall. It didn't stop creasing at all for me, and it is overpriced. I have the horrible old bottle/doefoot version of this product that wastes more than half of the product unless you cut it open (but it has since been redesigned into a tube). I much prefer Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy to UDPP (although the Fyrinnae website says that it isn't supposed to be an eye primer, I think it works way better than UDPP)

Eye Shadow -Stila - Kitten
rated 2 of 5
Canadianadia 11/22/2011 4:35:00 PM

Kitten is waaaay to frosty on my tan skin. The fallout from this product is ridiculous, and it doesn't blend nicely on me at all. The shadow is overpriced (stila website is selling it for $18USD for 0.09 oz.). I suppose this might look better on women with cool skin tones, but that still won't help the fallout-a-rama. There are so many less expensive better quality eyeshadows on the market these days, so I would suggest skipping this one.

Loose Powders -RCMA - Invisible Setting Powder
rated 5 of 5
Canadianadia 11/13/2011 3:43:00 PM

I bought the 10oz RCMA powder for $20 on Camera Ready Cosmetics. Although I said that I'd purchase the item again, I think I might have enough product to last my entire life (well if I wasn't so clumsy and didn't spill it everywhere). I am a woman of color, and I haven't had any problems with strange color casting with this powder. I usually apply it with a velour powder puff over my foundation and knock off any excess with a fluffy powder brush. I makes my makeup last hours longer without looking greasy, creasy, or cakey. The packaging of the 10oz jar is very basic, not great, in fact I tend to dump it everywhere, when I put it in a smaller (more easy to use) container. Even when I consider only the amount that I am left with "post-spillage" it's still a steal. I recommend trying this one

Loose Powders -Fyrinnae - Fyrinnae Mineral Finish: Oil Control
rated 5 of 5
Canadianadia 2/28/2011 1:32:00 PM

I love Fyrinnae's Mineral finish: Oil Control. I use the tiniest amount on either my powder brush or my kaubuki brush and I blend it in over my foundation, until it disappears on my skin. It gives my makeup a finished look, and helps it last throughout the day. I purchased a sample on fyrinnae.com for around 2.50$ and it came in a small jar without a sifter. I dropped it one day and I almost cried. I ended up ordering a full size for around 7$, that includes a sifter and a few sample sizes for travel. (fyi~If you spend 40$ or more on your order, then shipping is free). The product is WHITE in the jar, but don't let this scare you. I have dark skin and I have no problem blending it in with little effort. Just use a small amount on your brush, and dust and blend, you can always add more if you feel it is neccessary. If you go nuts with it, the whiteness may show (I know because I did that when I dumped it). If this happens, just take a clean large fluffy brush and dust away/blend in and voila- all better! I will absolutely repurchase this product.

Lip Treatments -Vichy - Nutrilogie Lèvres-intensive care for dried out lips
rated 1 of 5
Canadianadia 9/14/2010 6:57:00 PM

This lip treatment has an unusual texture. It feels like it sits on top of my lips for a long time before it slowly absorbs. For the first week of use I thought it might be working for me, but slowly over time I noticed my lips becoming increasingly chapped, and dry. It became so dry at one point it actually cracked. I have stopped using it and my lips have returned to their normal condition. So this one is another one for the trash bin from Vichy

Moisturizers -Vichy - Myokine Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Care
rated 1 of 5
Canadianadia 9/14/2010 6:44:00 PM

This is yet another miss for me with Vichy. I bought the Myokine Intensive Anti-wrinkle care (about 30$) to decrease the appearance of some small lines that are forming on my forehead. I found this product had a slight stinging, tingly feeling when I first started using it - in a way that I wasn't immediately concerned, but it was mildly noticeable. Unfortunately After some continuous usage, I found it makes me break out in large bumps. I looked at the list of ingredients and there were so many that are foreign to my usual products, that I am not surprised that I had a reaction. For those who are curious the long list of ingredients included methylparaben and butylparaben

Treatments (Eye) -Vichy - Myokine intensive anti-wrinkle care 15ml
rated 1 of 5
Canadianadia 9/14/2010 6:22:00 PM

I bought this product to help minimize the lines around my eyes. Unfortunately, I found this product did nothing for me. I find I haven't had much success with Vichy products in general, and I don't think I will be purchasing any of their products again soon. :(

Cleansers -Vichy - Purete Thermale Demaquillant Integral One Step Cleanser 3in1
rated 1 of 5
Canadianadia 9/14/2010 6:10:00 PM

This stuff did dot remove any of my makeup. To me it seems like an over-priced watered down lotion. I do not recommend this.

Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Chubby Eye Stick
rated 2 of 5
Canadianadia 9/14/2010 5:26:00 PM

I purchased the Chubby Eye Sticks in the shades "Bronzilliant" and "Glampagne". The colors look gorgeous when I tested them on the back of my hand, but when I use them on my eyes, the application is blotchy and not at all blendable. Because the Pencil is "Chubby" it doesn't fit in a standard sharpener. The "casing" of the pencil is made out of plastic, and it sharpens in a strange way compared to the standard wood pencils. The chubby sticks are not expensive when on sale (I think I purchased them as part of a 5 item for $15 deal), but considering the fact that they just don't work, they are not even worth trying. I would not recommend this product to anyone, nor will I be repurchasing them.

Eye Shadow -Fyrinnae - Loose Eye Shadow in Montalivet
rated 5 of 5
Canadianadia 9/5/2010 4:25:00 AM

I absolutely adore the versatility of Fyrinnae's Montalivet. It shows up as a beautiful shimmery nude color on my Tan skin. I like to use it just under my eyebrows to highlight my brow bone together with Finnegan's Wake. I then smooth pixie epoxy on my eyelid only and use any of my favorite trios on my lid such as my copper combo: Rapunzel had extentions, Lust Bunnies and BBQ Sauce As another use, I occasionally smooth a tiny amount of Montalivet on the center of my lip, on top of my lip gloss, to add some depth to my lips. I find myself frequently reaching for Montalivet, and I will certainly be repurchasing it in the future.

Eye Shadow -Fyrinnae - Arcane Magic: Feline Familiars
rated 5 of 5
Canadianadia 6/25/2010 5:46:00 PM

When I received this product I thought they made a mistake. The Fyrinnae website describes it as: "a versatile, shimmery rich "chocolate" shade with a subtle hue change. Away from light it has a burgundy cast with subtle flashes of turquoise and orange shimmer, but changes to a light bronze highlight in brighter light". In the container, and on my skin, it seems like the burgandy is the more dominant tone than the chocolate. It's beauty isn't immediately apparent, in fact when I first put it on, I was a little disappointed. But when the light hits it in that particular way, it's just stunning. I suggest using this product over Fyrinnae's pixie epoxy, to minimize fallout, and maximize adhesion. I love using this in my crease, and when this sample runs out, I will certainly repurchase.

Makeup Brushes -Borghese - Kirkland signature for Borghese
rated 4 of 5
Canadianadia 6/25/2010 5:27:00 PM

For the price of 20$ for this 15 piece brush set - it's a great value. There are certainly parts of this set that I love more than others. When I first started using these brushes, some of the color would bleed off when deep cleaning them, but I wash my brushes after every use, and this is no longer a problem. My favorite is the Large powder brush, it is perfect for buffing my powders to a nice finish. I would definately repurchase this set.

Lip Gloss -Smashbox - Lip Enhancing Gloss - ILLUME
rated 3 of 5
Canadianadia 6/25/2010 11:46:00 AM

Smashbox illume is a sheer pink with tiny flecks of shimmer, (or glitter). It's an good color for adding shine, but the pink tone seems to disappear on my dark lips. The applicator is a brush, which I like, but the hairs have a tendency to go a little wayward. Overall this product adds a great shine to my lips, but plain and simple - it's over-priced. There are certainly less expensive equivalents on the market, so despite the fact that it's not a bad product, I wouldn't repurchase it.
