Eyeliner -Essence - Gel Eyeliner

Was looking for a good gel eyeliner and came across the new essence booth at my local drugstore and heard pretty good reviews of the brand. And for that price?!? GRAB. I was very excited to try it. However, when i swatched it, i was very disappointed. Then i later realized why- i swatched TOO much product. It was too thick, hence it did not set properly and smudged everywhere. In fact, this product has such good PIGMENTATION, just one dip per eye is enough. It is a true, solid jet black. Smudge proof? It held on pretty well, once i forgot i had this eyeliner on, i rubbed my eyes and then quickly took a look at the mirror. Not entirely smudge proof, but very MINIMAL SMUDGING. Therefore i'd say it's LONGLASTING. Waterproof? Yes, when entire dry AND when it's not a thick layer- else it'll crumble. Creamy? Yes. Very. Easy to apply? From above, yes, creamy. But, this eyeliner can get onto your eyelashes pretty easily. I wouldn't be surprised if people started dipping spoolies into the pot and combed them on lashes. They made mine bold and thick. Packaging- If you look carefully at the pot, it's not a lot of product. But it's fine, since gel eyeliner dries out pretty quickly and you're always set to buy a new one. And for the price? Totally okay. Glass packaging is really solid too. Now, this is where i took 1 star off. REMOVING THIS THING IS SUCH A PAIN. My regular eye make up remover couldn't do the job, and i had to keep tugging. I have a few make up removers so i tried with different ones. In the end, i realized good old OLIVE OIL is the best for removing this! Simply dip a cotton bud in some and you'll find that the product just melts away. Also, because it dries pretty quick, it's another pain to clean your brushes as it just sticks together and it's clumpy gunk and all. A quick spot clean WILL NOT do the job. You'll have to deep clean it with soap and olive oil. I guess it's that hard to remove because of it's staying power. But overall, i highly recommend this. It can be really nice to apply. DON'T BOTHER with the essence gel eyeliner brush though. Too thick for an angled liner brush.

Makeup Brushes -Essence - Gel Eyeliner Brush
rated 3 of 5
Camuika 1/4/2013 2:43:00 AM

When i first washed the brush, i was highly impressed. The colour actually didn't get washed out at all and no bristles came out, thought it did start to fray. It was dense and solid against my hand. And i like that the handle is thin. However, when i dipped it into my essence gel eyeliner, the experience was pretty bad. The brush picked up A LOT of product, and i was certain it was too thick. I swatched it on my hand, then went on to draw my eyes. Again, it was too thick to really control the brush easily and the sharp end doesn't really fill in gaps. Even after drawing both eyes, the swatch on my hand wasn't dry. This shows that the brush picks up too much product and it's too thick to be called a gel eyeliner brush. I think it'd be good for eyebrows, but definitely not eye liner. You can't create a really precise line with this. Good quality, but it doesn't fulfill it's uses.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Ego QV Face Moisturising Cream SPF30
rated 3 of 5
Camuika 9/1/2012 4:41:00 AM

Was looking for a moisturizer with SPF of at least 30 to save time on my morning skincare routine, and I thought this was going to be my HG for sure. It didn't contain the chemicals that ironically causes skin cancer, claimed to be for sensitive skin, and it was such a steal for a moisturizer with SPF under $20 and such a generous amount (75g) at that! However, it smells very strongly of sunscreen more than a normal cream. It fades off after a while though, and it is that after a while that I regret my decision of buying this. MY FACE WAS SO STICKY AND LOOKED INCREDIBLY GREASY. It moisturizers a little too well for my combination skin, and into the afternoon when I gave my nose a little rub, it left a whole streak of oil on my fingers. I was shocked as I had never been that oily in simply a few hours in my entire life! This is probably due to the tropical climate I live in as well. Nonetheless, it's a great product I'd recommend for anyone who has dry skin or as a miracle that will save your skin for cold, dry and harsh weather like winter or spring. And about the claim on it being suitable for sensitive skin, mine is mildly sensitive and it didn't break me out, so that's great :)

Foundations -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector Daily All-In-One
rated 3 of 5
Camuika 9/1/2012 4:25:00 AM

I was really excited to try this product. Truth be told, it's not too bad. Medium coverage and conceals my redness well. My zits still show through though. The coverage is kinda lithe what you get at the end of the day when your foundation's been on for hours. Close up, it's cakey. But it doesn't feel that heavy on the skin. Ok, now, the BAD PARTS about this. 1, the colour selection. Where I live in, it's only available in one shade. 2, the PRICE. I know this is pretty affordable for other people living in other countries like the USA where they can get it for under $10 at target or Walmart. But where I live in (Asia), it retails for $18.90, close to $20. No biggie for a tinted moisturizer/bb cream. BUT, when I took it out of the average sized box, I got a huge shock. The tube was SO SMALL. It didn't go further than my average sized hand, vertically. And when I read the contents, it stated that there was only 20 ml. So basically, you're paying SLIGHTLY UNDER A DOLLAR for ONE ML. And that, is EXPENSIVE for a middle quality drugstore brand. If it were higher end brands, i'd understand. But $1/ml for this was ridiculous. When I first tried to squeeze some out on my fingers, the whole packaging felt very empty. I thought I'd gotten a used bottle. I like the squeeze tube function for its hygiene, but it's a lot bigger than how much product it holds inside, which is REALLY DECIEVING. There's a fair bit of air in the tube to make up for the little product, and that causes it to squirt out all of a sudden sometimes, meaning there's not much control, unless you squeeze out the air first (kinda like a moisturizer cream in a tube you're about to finish). Also, I didn't find it moisturizing enough and application with my fingers was a little hard and streaky. 3 stars for the coverage, and will not repurchase because of it's price.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Yogurt Mask
rated 5 of 5
Camuika 8/10/2012 8:01:00 AM

Excellent! One of my 2 favourite masks i have ever tried and will ever use on my face! I add one table spoon (or a little less) oatmeal to one tbs plain yoghurt and use a clean foundation brush (only used for masks) to apply it cause it makes application much easier. I actually wanted to add a little bit of honey for moisturizing benefits, but i would advise against it as it makes the whole yoghurt mixture very runny and hard to apply- feels as if it's gonna slip off your face any moment and you're gonna have a hard time cleaning up! It's the cheapest and best mask ever and it's done WONDERS at clearing up my acne (i've never had acne free skin for about 6 years now) You can feel the yoghurt really tightening your pores and the acid forcing your pimples to "ripe" or pop, but it's not drying. My only qualms about adding the oatmeal is the mess in taking it off cause it takes effort to clear up and not clog the pipes. The yogurt alone is brilliant and fuss free! I'd recommend this to everyone!

Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub Blemish and Blackhead Control
rated 4 of 5
Camuika 8/10/2012 7:34:00 AM

It's not bad, but it's not the best scrub either. I like it's beads and i actually kinda find it too small, but some people feel it's too big to be used for face. I use it to "burst" my pimples whenever i'm having breakouts cause i have the tendency to pick at them. Using this is definitely cleaner for my face. I also like to use on days i wear make up to really get deep into the pores and get all the leftover make up off. The formula itself is not too bad and i can feel my skin more moisturized after using it, so i don't have to use such a heavy toner after that. I've had it for several months and i'm only about halfway done. Just a small squirt goes a really long way. It's affordable and it's good enough for me. Will repurchase if i cannot find a better exfoliator :)

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
rated 2 of 5
Camuika 8/10/2012 7:24:00 AM

Doesn't go on smoothly and it actually turns a little rough in the casing itself after a while. Definetely prefer my Za powder over this. Cheaper, has a wider shade range and smells really nice too. Doesn't get rough like this mac one. For it's price, i think there are so many better foundations out there. The clasp also tends to get loose after some time.

Bronzers -Unlisted Brand - W7 - Honolulu Bronzer (Benefit Hula Copy)
rated 1 of 5
Camuika 8/10/2012 7:19:00 AM

I really wanted to love this, but turns out i couldn't. I bought this on a whim thinking it was a really good dupe for the benefit hoola bronzer as many people claim so and got it on ebay for about $10 in my currency, quite a difference for what some people living in the uk can buy for 2-4 pounds. It was packaged really nicely though i would have preferred a flip open cover like the hoola so you don't have to worry about the product getting all over your make up stuff because this has SO MUCH FALL OUTS. The product is a very dark brown in the box, a far cry from the hoola. Pigmentation is not there, and it takes a few swatches for the colour to show up. What really turned me off was that it looked orange-red on my face, almost like i got sunburnt, not kissed. Definitely does not give a natural finish like the hoola does and it's slightly hard to blend. Also, the smell is terrible. It smells quite strongly of iron that the ingredient list on the box states may contain, while the hoola one smells really nice, almost like a soft and lightweight foundation powder. The brush is the only good thing out of the 10 bucks and its bristles are really soft. But the handle is longer than the brush itself, and that makes accidentally scratching yourself a very easy thing to do. However, the brush is terrible at picking up any pigments, and instead causes more fallouts. I would recommend gently rolling your fingers over the product (or fallouts, if you don't want to waste them) to really get a decent amount to apply on your face. Overall, i'm not very impressed by the product after all the great reviews of it online (i think this is its first bad one) and it definitely cannot compare to the hoola. Save your money to get the real deal or a better bronzer. Will not repurchase.

Bronzers -NYX - Tango with Bronzer
rated 1 of 5
Camuika 4/30/2012 3:14:00 AM

Terrible bronzer! Mine is in bronze ensemble, and the two shades are either too orangey or too glittery. Mix the both together and you get orangey, glittery patches on your face. Doesn't blend well on my skin.
