Skincare - Face -Clinique - 3 Step System
Callisto83 3/3/2013 12:33:00 PM
My skin is very dry, and I'm cursed with atopic dermatitis since childhood. This is the ONLY cleanser and toner I've ever used that for some reason works amazingly on my skin. I was almost hesitant to try based on some of the horrible reviews, but I'm so glad I did. The thing with me is, all these hyped 'organic' oils etc that a lot of "healthy" skincare contains now days, cause terrible allergic reactions on me. My face goes bright red and I get bumps all over. But this really doesn't. In fact my skintone has evened out a lot since using this, and it's like my skin texture has smoothened out. I need less make up and I get compliments! So I really hope Clinique doesn't discontinue this, because I have finally found a brand I can settle with, that works perfectly for me. (For reference I use the number 1. And I use the 'Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion' as a serum, before I apply some thicker creams on top. My skin is THAT dry..)

BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream
Callisto83 11/16/2012 5:05:00 PM
Could it be... Could this drugstore BB cream be HG material? It sure can!!! Over the years I've bought loads of foundations and tinted moistueizers, all with the hope that 'finally', something that would work and look ok on my extremely dry skin (starting to develop fine lines..) This is amazing! It is gel like, applies so smoothly - and I mean smoothly; a lot of my foundations that's supposed to be hydrating are almost grainy in texture, and looks really artificial blended on to my skin. This doesn't for some reason, it just smooths out my complexion and is easily buildable to gently cover up red areas. Although only sheer coverage, it is pretty much foolproof. I have yet to look cakey or weird with this on. In fact, out of all my 20++ foundations through the years, I actually got a compliment with this one on! And that's amazing considering I have eczema and a difficult canvas to work with. I don't know if the ingredients are super healthy, but then again, a lot of ingredients that's supposed to be "natural", organic and what not, gives my skin severe allergic reactions. This works, and I haven't had any troubles so far. It doesn't dry out my skin like so many other things do, and it just fits me like a glove. My shade is Light, and its a perfect match. I can't believe I've spent $$$ on all sorts of expensive stuff when this little gem was sitting in a drugstore shelf all along. Please don't discontinue this Maybelline, I'm in love and all I can say is HG.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - MACADAMIA NATURAL OIL Deep Repair Mask
Callisto83 10/7/2012 3:45:00 PM
Ok... Wow! I'm so glad I endend up buying this deep conditioner, because it is AMAZING, especially for my dry and highlighted hair. I followed the directions and left it on for 7 minutes, then rinsed it out. And when I was done blowdrying my hair it felt amazingly soft and healthy. Like how I feel normal hair should feel like. I was amazed, I kept walking around touching my hair all day, sometimes smelling it and pulling my fingers through it. People around me must have thought I was borderline crazy, because I just couldn't stop fuzzing with my 'new' hair... I really recommend it, it smells great and makes my hair so soft and nourished, almost thicker in a way, and it just made a big difference. I will definately purchase this again, and just for the record, I also appreciate the other products Macadamia Natural Oil has to offer - but if you had to just choose one - this is it!

Treatments -Ren - Rose Synergy O12 Restoring Facial Serum
Callisto83 6/12/2012 10:20:00 PM
What's with the smell?? It's extremely overwhelming, and one time when I accidentally squirted out a little bit too much and applied it to my face - it gave me a headache after a while... I prefer the Max Moisture serum to this, as this just feels like putting cologne on to the face, and it really isn't that hydrating. It also has a few potential skin irritants in it, so I would probaby advise curious people with sensitive skintypes to give it a try before they purchase. I do like (and own) quite a few REN products, but this was disappointing unfortunately.

Toners -Dermalogica - Multi-active Toner
Callisto83 6/12/2012 10:09:00 PM
This felt a bit like spritzing liquid potpourri on my face, which surely can't be a good thing after every cleanse... I much more prefer for instance Avène's thermal water, or La Roche Posay's for that matter, because this made me itch quite a bit and I wonder if it's due to some of the potentially skin irritating ingredients.. I'm sorry Dermalogica, but this product didn't work for me, although it was reccomended as part of a 'dry skin' routine.

Moisturizers -Vichy - Nutrilogie S2
Callisto83 6/12/2012 9:58:00 PM
I suffer from eczema and chronic dry skin, and have gone through many a moisturiser claiming to help out, and I can honestly say Vichy's Nutrilogie 2 is one of the best I've ever stumbled upon! HG material for sure! Not only does it moisturise, The effect lasts really long and it doesn't make me shiny or uncomfortable. It's actually a moisturiser that sinks into my skin and does domething.. I do not know exactly what a 'sphingo-lipid' is, which this apparently contains, but keep em coming Vichy, because this I will repurchase again and again!!

Moisturizers -Dermalogica - Intensive Moisture Balance
Callisto83 6/12/2012 9:43:00 PM
I was reccomended to give this a try after I heard so many people say it was awesome at giving long lasting moisture to dry skintypes, but for me and my desert-dry face it unfortunately didn't do much - except being an average moisturiser with a HUGE price tag... It's sad really, because I really wanted this to work. On the bright side it didn't sting upon application, and I think it has some beneficial ingredients in it, but this wouldn't be enough for me either for daytime or night as I would be dry within the hour again. AND it makes me shiny... So basically I only looked like greaseball, but didn't feel like one, does anyone see the obvious irony?!? I do honestly think there are better moisturisers out there, and at this price you could probably buy several of them. I sadly won't be repurchasing.

BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector - Light/Medium
Callisto83 5/6/2012 11:14:00 AM
Ok, so it doesn't preform miracles, but it's actually OK. I know it's supposedly not a "real" asian BB cream, but I think Garnier did their best. They provided us Scandinavians with something similar, that can actually be tested in a store before being purchased, unlike all the other brands we have to search for online and order from abroud. I would say it gives a light to perhaps medium coverage, that is if you apply more, and it's quite moisturising on the skin. Whenever I have it on it looks like I'm glowing for the first 30 minutes, then it calms a bit down and gives me a light dewy look. I think it does an OK job evening out my skin coulour too, and it doesn't feel really heavy on my face throughout the day. I'm not an expert on BB creams, but I think for the price and the availability it's an ok investment. Perhaps a bit too greasy if you have really oily skin, but that's not an issue for me.

Foundations -Unlisted Brand - Mineral Hygienics
Callisto83 5/6/2012 9:04:00 AM
Mineral Hygienics would be perfect for me IF I had more oily to normal skin, and maybe not so many fine lines on my face. It's a great product, it covers well and at least on my skin it does not itch or cause any discomfort / breakouts. I also think their foundations colours matched perfectly. But as much as I really do want to be using this everyday, it tends to dry my skin out after a while, even if I put a layer of moisturaising cream underneath before application. But if you're not so dry skinned, and looking for a great mineral makeup brand (without Bismuth), that stays on your face all day, then go for it! I would highly recommned it.

Masks -Avene - Soothing moisture mask
Callisto83 5/4/2012 8:31:00 PM
So, I'm basically one of those unfortunate individuals with really REALLY dry skin, and with eczema, that can only watch others play around with fancy schmancy facial masks and various exciting products, because if I did that, I would not only experience slightly discomfort - my skin would go into total meltdown. But since Avene had a soothing moisture mask specifically aimed at sensitive skintypes, I gave it a go. And I'm glad I did. It does everything it says on the package; it sooths, it provides moisture and the best part is that you can either wash it off if you want, but you can also safely wipe excess off with a pad and leave it at that. I love it, and I can fell it really hydrates my skin, which it desperately needs. Mild and sensitive even for me, and for that reason I would highly recommend it to others. My only bad comment would be the price, and the ammount of product you actually get for it. After all, you do need quite a bit to cover all your face in a nice semi-thick layer of soothing delisciousness - which my skin loves :) I will definately repurchase once I'm out!
