Blush -MAC - Matte Blush - Bite Of An Apple (Venomous Villains)
rated 5 of 5
Buttercup86 10/6/2010 11:51:00 AM

Well, I had to throw my hat into this pile too. I usually do not care for hyped products or LE products. When I do makeup hauling, I am always on the look for new and interesting products. In my collection I did not have a bright coral/red matte blush, actually I didn't have anything that compared, so I picked this up for that reason. I have to say I never thought I would really like it, and I bought it under the influence of swapping. However, I used it the next morning, and I was really in awe by how pretty it was. I am NC-15 for reference, and this blush, when applied with a LIGHT hand, looks so so pretty. I would describe it as a very natural blush, almost the exact color my skin turns when I blush. I love that it is matte too, I don't think it would work if it had shimmer. I'm sad about this being LE, because it is actually one I really like and would recommend. If you can find this, I suggest picking it up.

Eye Shadow -MAC - She Who Dares mineralize shadow duo (Venomous Villains Collection)
rated 5 of 5
Buttercup86 10/1/2010 11:13:00 PM

Before this collection, I had never owned a mineralize shadows, they just didn't look like anything special. When I saw these swatched online I knew I had to take a look. I ended up getting She Who Dares, and I tell you...it's love. It's super glimmery blackened green and royal blue, tons of color payoff. Tonight I did an extreme smokey eye with this, I used Slick Black as the main base and dabbed a little bit of Fyrrinae's Pixie Epoxy on top to give it something really sticky to cling to. The results were more than awesome! The black made the colors about 10x, and the stickyness of epoxy made the shadow stick and look like liquid metal on my eyes. I seriously, seriously love this duo. I am NC15 for reference, and I have blue eyes, blonde hair. I loved this one so much that I ordered "My Dark Magic" to see if it compares. I might love that one too, but I won't love it as much as I do this.

Lipstick -MAC - Pet Me Please
rated 5 of 5
Buttercup86 9/2/2010 4:44:00 PM

I know this lipstick is extremely frosty and garish, but I really don't care..I LOVE it! It takes a certain amount of self confidence and knowing what to wear with this lipstick to make it work. The color is not so much a pink, but a dusty mauve with a slight silvery frost. I usually find frost lipsticks tend to make on look either very aged, or very 80s, I don't know why this one is so different. I think this lipstick leans to the cooler side (but I am about NC20 and I wear it with no issues) and it looks very good paired with more cool colors. The Palace Pedigreed quad looks really lovely paired with this. I have found using a reverse lip liner is best for this lipstick, and even though this is a frost lippie, it is very opaque. Overall this is a very fun lipstick, but I don't think it is very everyday wear at all, more of a fun going out color. I might purchase a backup.

Mascara -Revlon - Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
rated 1 of 5
Buttercup86 7/19/2010 4:49:00 PM

I bought this mascara on a whim after hearing a few board ladies rave about it. Unfortunately I was NOT impressed with this mascara, and I can make almost any mascara work for me in one way or another. The brush is HUGE, I figured it would be cool, I had never owned a big brushed mascara before, but I was wrong. The brush does not seem to get that much product, and the mascara itself is very dry. I prefer a more wet formula in mascara. So with its dry texture, uneven application, and abnormally large brush, this mascara was a total flop for me. I even took it back to get my $7 returned, I disliked it that much.

Shampoo -Redken - Hair Cleansing Cream
rated 5 of 5
Buttercup86 7/19/2010 4:16:00 PM

This is my go to shampoo for clarifying. I love the fact that it's a cream too. Even though this is a deep cleaning shampoo, I find it is not too harsh on hair. I have highlighted/lowlighted (lol) colored hair and I swear when I use this it makes my color look more vibrant and refreshed. I used this about 1x week for about 6 months and I am just now emptying the small sized bottle, so a little lasts a long time. I about shoulder length, lots of hair, fine in texture. This shampoo also foams very nicely too. The only negative thing about it is the smell, which most people like. It smells exactly like those disgusting orange slice candies my grandma used to try and give me as a kid, yuck. But other than that this is a fabulous product that I am about to repurchase.

Eyes -MAC - Photo Realism quad Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection
rated 5 of 5
Buttercup86 7/19/2010 4:11:00 PM

Ahh Photorealism, I was finally able to get my hands on you! I first bought this palette at a CCO...unfortunately it was not the original palette, it was sold with Nylon and Club, I have no idea how that happened. Anyway, I was able to track down the REAL quad on Bridgette's Boutique for about $40, a little marked up but nothing ridiculous. I have to say I do not regret paying a little more for this at all. I absolutely adore all the shades in this quad, and the fab textures of the Velux Pearls and Frosts. Photo Realism is like a slight silvery green color, I use it as the highlight and on the inner corners. Next is Fresh Approach, the most beautiful mermaidy foam green, this looks amazing over a black base! The third color is Image Maker, and it looks like a deeper version of Fresh Approach, I really like putting these 2 together on the lid. I use the last color, Grey Range, as a crease color to deepen the look and give it depth. This quad would look beautiful on all eye shades, and it's so versatile I don't see why anyone wouldn't love it. I am going to try and use mine sparingly because I don't want to run out. LOVE this, one of the best by MAC in my honest opinion.

Scrubs -Victoria's Secret - Pink Go Natural Sugar Scrub
rated 5 of 5
Buttercup86 6/20/2010 7:18:00 PM

I love this scrub!!! I picked up 4 bottles of it during the semi annual sale. It smells lovely, a little strong at first, then it fades to a somewhat sweet/clean scent on the skin. I also don't understand how this is not heavy duty. It was quite grainy, and provided plenty of exfoliation. I also like the fact that it's mostly sugar, and not jagged pulverized nut shells. One of my favs, wish I would have gotten more. I got this for $3 a bottle too!

Makeup Brushes -Sigma - F80 Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki (was SS197)
rated 5 of 5
Buttercup86 4/30/2010 3:57:00 PM

As soon as they are back in stock I am ordering another one. This brush is absolutely fan freaking tastic. There is not a day that goes by I don't use this brush to apply my foundation. It buffs perfectly, and the effect is completely blended, perfected skin. Not only is it great for ALL foundations, it's super cheap, very soft, dense, and I've given mine several good washings and it has NEVER shad a single hair and it retains its shape. There is absolutely no reason not to adore this brush. It is even better than the EM flat top brush because this brush is denser, and the bristles are shorter and they don't do that odd flaring out shape either. Kudos to Sigma for making my absolute favorite makeup brush! *EDIT* Just checked the site and it's back in stock!

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Face & Body Foundation
rated 5 of 5
Buttercup86 4/9/2010 11:18:00 AM

Well I have to be honest, I never thought I would really like this foundation, and now I considered it to be as close to HG as I know. The descriptions of this foundation being sheer and light turned me away from it for so long, but after hearing about it over and over again I was almost brainwashed into trying it. I purchased this from Sephora, so I knew if I ended up hating it I could return it and get a full refund. Now I run usually in between an NC15-NC20 in MAC, maybe NC25 after being tanned, and I ordered the shade 20. When I first received this in January it was a TAD too dark, but nothing I couldn't blend out and work with, now that I have been in the sun a bit, the color match is perfect. The texture of this foundation is so unique, it's like a lumpy watery gel, which sound terrible, right? However it is the unique texture and formula of this foundation that makes it so incredible, and there is nothing that I've ever tried that compared (and believe me, I can list at LEAST 20 foundations, if not more that I have tried over the years). The smell is a little odd, but I have no idea why lots of people make a big deal about it, it fades away almost immediately. Now, I've tried several methods to apply this foundation, and I've actually developed my only routine to get this foundation to build up some coverage, and it's quite easy. What I do is works in sections, I apply the foundation to the left side of my face with just a standard fdtn brush (I use Clinique's) and I apply the first layer. The trick is just to place the fdtn on, don't blend yet (and I know you guys are freaking out right now). Then I let that side of my face dry a bit, and I place the fdtn on the right side of my face. After I am done with the right side of my face, I take a flatop brush (I CANNOT sing the praises of the Sigma SS197 enough) and I buff it in to blend, then I buff the right side out. So at this point I have my first layer down, and because I gave a chance for the fdtn to "dry" a bit (this is a water based fdtn) I got a little more coverage than I would immediately blending it, which I find takes a lot of product off the face. Now for coverage in the areas I need, I go back with my fdtn brush and I apply another light layer over my problems areas (a few areas of discolorations, redness) let it set for a minute, then buff. This foundation gives an absolutely beautiful finish, and WILL NOT CAKE. This is the first and only fdtn I have ever tried that does not cling to any dry areas or areas that need to be exfoliated. I normally have somewhat oily skin with flaky patches and this foundation does not make me oily and it does not enhance my flaky areas, it's like magic. The foundation does leave a dewy finish (it is mostly water) that I just set with a mix of my Clinique transparent powder and silica microspheres. The foundation last all day, looks good all day, and photographs beautifully. When I am ready to go full time with my makeup artistry career, I will definitely use this foundation in my kit. Now, this foundation isn't going to cover all problems for someone with acneic skin, a concealer will still need to be used. If I want fuller coverage fdtn, I use MUFE HD (which is also great if you know how to use it). Bottom line, beautiful fdtn, lasts forever, you get a ton of product for $38 ( I know, maybe a lil $$$) and honestly I haven't really reached for anything else lately (but Clinique's acne solutions is impressive too). 5 stars, and I will be using this foundation for a long time to come.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Coral Reef
rated 5 of 5
Buttercup86 3/19/2010 11:00:00 AM

I love this lipgloss!! Revlon is really stepping their game up, and I know I have some HE things that aren't as good as Revlon. This color is a true coral, no pinkness to it at all. The formula is smooth, non sticky, and the color payoff is amazing. I think these feel as comfortable as cremesheen lipglosses from MAC, and they are half the price. I love wearing this gloss over my Nyx "vitamin" round lipstick and I just know it will be beautiful over Everhip from MAC (getting this soon I hope). You won't be disappointed in these lipglosses, I hope to collect the other 2 pinks (I have this one, and the lilac one). For reference I am NC15 in MAC, MUFE HD, Revlon colorstay in buff.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Lilac Pastelle 200
rated 5 of 5
Buttercup86 3/18/2010 9:08:00 PM

This is a review for the new Revlon Superlustrous glosses. Revlon is probably the best drugstore line IMO, and these glosses are no exception. This is a beautiful, milky lilac shade with VERY (almost invisible) subtle shimmers. The gloss is very comfortable on the lips and the pigmentation is awesome. The feel of these really remind of MAC's cremesheen glosses. I love wearing this over lilac or pink lipsticks. It looks especially lovely over Blooming Lovely from the Liberty of London collection. For reference I am NC15, MUFE HD 117, Revlon colorstay in Buff, PR in Shell.

Lip Gloss -Victoria's Secret - Very Sexy Lipgloss in Hottie
rated 5 of 5
Buttercup86 3/17/2010 5:17:00 PM

Wow, I am really surprised by the low rating on this gloss. This is such a pretty red gloss with gold glimmers. I find it to be pigmented enough to wear on its own, and really pretty layered over a red lip (Viva Glam Cyndi is my fav). I don't think this gloss is sticky at all, much less than a MAC gloss that's for sure! My tube hasn't leaked at all, and I've had it quite a while (since Sept. 09). The price was right, and it's really pretty. For reference I am NC 15 in MAC.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Lucky Green
rated 5 of 5
Buttercup86 2/14/2010 10:07:00 PM

OMG.....I cannot tell you how effin excited I was when I found out my MAC counter was selling this color as a part of the permanent line. Honestly, this is the most beautiful limey green color I've ever seen. The texture is the exquisite, creamy veluxe pearl formula, and the pigmentation is just out of site! I really cannot say anymore about this eyeshadow that has not already been said, but if you like green shadows this is a MUST in your collection. This color looks beautiful paired with olive greens, black, Humid, and bright green colors. This is probably my favorite MAC shadow and when (not if) I hit pan, I will definitely repurchase. Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam Cyndi [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Buttercup86 2/11/2010 10:23:00 PM

I've loved Cyndi Lauper since I was a child and heard "Time After Time" for the first time. I was so excited when I learned of the new Viva Glam collection with her and Lady Gaga. I immediately bought both colors and I have to say Cyndi is my fav. I can pull off reds really well and this one is AWESOME! It's a lustre formula so it applies sheer, but can be built to a nice cherry red with a hint of coral. I love this lipstick because it's so versatile, it can be worn anytime. I wore it to work today with a simple neutral eye and I wore it tonight with a heavy smokey eye. For reference I am MAC NC15, MUFE HD 117, lipstick was $14 USD and this Viva Glam collection is LE and I believe it is only available for year. And because it is Viva Glam, it cannot be obtained with Back 2 MAC products. If you like trying new reds do get this one, you won't be disappointed. Mascara -Max Factor - Volume Couture - Rich Black
rated 5 of 5
Buttercup86 2/5/2010 11:28:00 AM

Well, I am completely 100% pissed that I fall in love with a Max Factor product right as it is going out of business in the US. (PS- Drugstore.com still has Max Factor, I don't know when they will stop carrying it). This mascara can definitely give SEVERAL high end brands a run for their money. I love the look this gives, long black (I like mascaras that a little wet looking) and tons of volume. I use this mascara daily, and it has never let me down. I still rank my YSL above this, but I reserve the YSL for special occasions. I would give my approval of this being the best drugstore mascara available, and lots better than high end brands. WHY Max Factor, why are you leaving the US? Don't take Max Factor, take Cover Girl....
