Lip Gloss -MAC - Emancipation
Burningdesir3 2/10/2011 5:53:00 PM
I hadn't written a review in a while but after trying this product, I just had to. This is such a beautiful colour! It's a nude pink gloss with a sensible amount of fine sparkles. I'm pretty sure this colour is dupable though. I bought this in store because I was hesitant to get it online in case the colour wasn't really that amazing, but I was sold after I swatched it in the MAC store lol. The formula is just like the lipglass formula so it is pretty sticky but I personally don't mind it because I feel like it lasts longer. This is part of the MAC Wonder Woman collection and as with about half of the collection, this gloss is a jumbo size.. like massive. It is $24CDN for 0.37oz, versus the regular-sized $17.50 0.17oz lipglass, so you do get more bang for your buck. The wand is also jumbo-sized which for some was a concern. I have no problem with applying the gloss - they made it so most of the gloss will be drawn just on the slanted tip. My only one issue is that when I do draw the wand from the bottle, sometimes it pulls out too much product and some of it falls onto the outside of the tube or whatever surface I'm working on.. not sure if it's the suction but it's a waste. So just remember not to yank the wand out of the tube lol. I really don't mind the packaging at all, in fact I really like it! It'll just be kinda funny when someone sees me pull out a ginormous Wonder Woman tube of lipgloss out of my purse to apply lol. Cheers! PS. I think this would pair beautifully with MAC Cremesheen Creme Cup l/s.

Liquid -Clarins - Everlasting Foundation SPF 15
Burningdesir3 7/3/2010 2:38:00 AM
This is probably the best foundation that I've used so far. It does everything that I want a foundation to do. First off, you get full coverage. With some other foundations, I find I still gotta use some concealer but with this one, I don't need it. Second, the texture is great - it's smooth, doesn't look cakey (but I guess it has to do with the way it's applied), easy to work with and lasts ALLL day! My makeup still looks great at the end of a long shift. Third, it smells frigging awesome!! Lastly, it doesn't cause breakouts which is awesome because I'm so incredibly acne prone. I use my MAC 130 brush to apply this foundation and one pump is more than enough. The only minor drawbacks is their limited colour selection and the price. I use 110 honey (I'm NC25 without any tan) and its a fairly good match, however, it looks lighter in pictures with flash. I resolve that by putting a finishing powder that adds more colour. The next one up (I believe is 113) was wayyy too dark but it might suit me now cause I got tanned. This product is $40CDN (or $42.. I can't remember lol) for 1.2oz at SDM. Kinda hefty but I'd definitely repurchase because it's sucha great product!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
Burningdesir3 6/16/2010 1:34:00 PM
Great mascara - it's volumizing in one coat (although I like to use 2-3) and best of all, it holds my curl! Keep in mind, it has to be the waterproof version in order for it to hold on to the curl. Price is right too :)

Pressed Powders -MAC - Mineralize Skin Finish Natural - Medium Plus
Burningdesir3 8/10/2009 12:15:00 AM
Simply the best powder foundation I have ever tried. I wish I could've came across this product A LOT sooner. I wore this over a liquid foundation for a while but man, it looks fabulous on its own! I watched the transformation in front of the mirror today when I applied it and I was totally impressed lol. First off, the finish is flawless. It doesn't look cakey and looks completely natural on my skin. People can't tell I have makeup on! Second, this is great for my oily skin because I don't need to wear liquid but I still get good coverage. This provides light to medium coverage although you can get close to full coverage. Feels light and keeps my skin looking matte. Thirdly.. no breakouts! =D I use my MAC 189 foundation brush to apply it (which by the way is an amazing brush). A nice, dense brush will do the trick. I'm NC25-30 and medium plus is a perfect match. I have to buy a shade darker though cause I just recently got really tanned. I've been recommending this product to people eversince I first tried it. So amazing <3

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Ed Hardy Perfume - Love Kills Slowly Women's EDT
Burningdesir3 7/10/2009 12:05:00 AM
I've been eyeing this one out for a while and then my best friend ends up getting me this for my bday =) The only thing that concerns me is that it's staying power isn't so long and I'd eventually need to respray. But I was told that its that way because the scent is so sweet. It smells sooooo good. It's a sweet, flirty, fun scent appropriate for going out. I'M IN LOVE <3

Cleansers -MAC - Cleanse Off Oil
Burningdesir3 6/9/2009 12:13:00 PM
I didn't even know there was such thing as cleansing oil til I read about it on MUA. I thought it was kinda crazy putting oil on your face like that but it kinda hit me when I thought about it. This whole concept of using oil to take off makeup is just basic chemistry, stuff we learnt in highschool and in university - likes dissolves likes. Very basically speaking, solute molecules will dissolve in other solvents of the same type of molecules. A lot of the types of makeup people wear are emollient-based so it will dissolve in the cleansing oil thus, taking off makeup ! Am I a nerd? maybe =P ----- As for MAC's product, I'm very satisfied althought I have not tried other products to compare. MAC's has a range of oils including olive, jojoba, lavendar and other various fruit oils. I use about 2 to 3 pumps of this stuff, apply it on dry face and rub away. It took every trace of my makeup off.. It even takes my stubborn, waterproof eye makeup off.. which is amazing cause I don't have to use irritating eye makeup removers now =D Putting oil on your face seems like a scary thing but I'd recommend following with a cleanser and doing your regular routine to avoid leaving oil residue behind. I have acne-prone skin so I'm not risking it lol. What prompted me to try this was the fact that I was running out of makeup removing cloths but more importantly, I like the fact that I don't have to aggrevate my skin too much.. you know, first you gotta take makeup off with eye makeup remover.. then you gotta wash or wipe off the face makeup, thenn you can finally proceed with your regular skincare routine (I must do a good job of taking off makeup, otherwise, I wake up the next day full of zits). Oil glides smoothly on the skin and so you don't have to worry bout too much aggrevation. I don't like the pump cause pumps and low-viscous products don't work so well so someone needs to innovate something. It has a nice scent. At $25CAD for a 150ml bottle, it seems expensive but I think it would last a long time. I'm happy with this product and would purchase again, though I might just try other brands when I run out. I get bored easily haha

Lipstick -Christian Dior - Coral Lace 439
Burningdesir3 6/8/2009 11:38:00 PM
This is an absolutely stunning colour ! I was at SDM looking to purchase a coralish colour with an even balance of pink and orangeyness and this was what I left with. It's not a subtle colour but it does have a slight kick to make others notice you do have colour on your lips. There's not shimmer, but it does have a glossy finish. Perfect for spring and summer but why not where it all year round?? You can wear this for all occasions - I find its very suitable for work. I'm pretty sure you can find a colour similar to this for much cheaper cause this baby is $31 which is ridiculously expensive for a lipstick. But I love Dior and am in love with this lipstick colour <3

Masks -Arcona - Raspberry Resurfacing Peel
Burningdesir3 6/8/2009 11:28:00 PM
I can't really remember how I came across Arcona products.. they're really expensive and they're not even available in Canada =( ! I've definitely fallen for their marketing but more so, I really like their philosophy and the way their skincare products work and using natural ingredients (check arcona.com). I haven't tried their products for long enough to really see any devastating results but I definitely do really like them! I just recently purchased more of their products so I'm excited =) This mask is full of good stuff: mandelic alpha-hydroxy acids, lactolymer, pineapple enzymes, salicylic and malic acids, rasberry, grape seed, cranberry, mango and wine extracts, green tea and lycopene (all listed on its label). This mask is not for the light-hearted - it stings like crazy and I don't even have sensitive skin lol. But it is supposed to 'tingle' and I guess it does so because of all the acids and enzymes working their magic. I apply this mask after I cleanse my face and keep it on for abou 10 minutes and then follow with the rest of my regular routine. After each use, I notice my skin is radiating - it has a natural glow. I find my skin is a lot smoother. However, I can't justify spending $68US for 2oz of this stuff when I can get the same results with another product that is wayyy cheaper. Buttt I would repurchase this again IF money ain't a thing for me and because I do really like using products that are full of good-quality, natural ingredients.

Loose Powders -MAC - Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder
Burningdesir3 6/8/2009 9:39:00 PM
I was going to try MUFE's HD powder but I figured why not try MAC's cause it's cheaper and I've read fairly good reviews on here. I have really really oily skin so I'm always down to try something that will help control it. In the few times that I've used this, I have found that it has help controlled my oil to a degree. I think nothing can ever really reduce oil drastically but this has done something. The more important factor for me, however, is that it minimizes shine! I'm use to getting really oily later in the day but after a shift at work one night, I came home and to my suprise, my face still 'appeared' matte.. which is awesome cause usually I come home looking really shiny. I apply this over my foundation and before I apply a finishing powder with my MAC 187. For days when I don't wear makeup, I'll just apply over my moisturizer and it'll keep me matte for a good amount of hours, depending on what goes on during the day. You don't need too much.. basically I judge how much is enough by feeling my skin after I've applied it on - if it feels smooth and not sticky anymore from the foundation or moisturizer, it's good enough. The MA told me it will help with the appearance of fine lines and pores and I find it definitely helps with minimizing the appearance of large pores. My only complaint is the packaging - as with all powders in jars with sifters, it's sooo messy and fussy. Otherwise, good stuff ! =)

Lip Gloss -MAC - Smile Dazzleglass
Burningdesir3 6/1/2009 11:51:00 PM
What I really like about this lipgloss is that it's very long-lasting. This is contributed by its thick consistency. Has sparkles in it but its not too overly tacky when applied on the lips. This dazzleglass also has a very pleasant scent, its vanilla-ish. What I wish is that it had more colour pay-off. My lips are pretty red so the beautiful colour in the tube doesn't show up which sucks =( I think this would look really nice over a nude lipstick. Pretty pricey - $21.50 CAD for a tube. Great lipgloss but I wouldn't repurchase because I want some more colour. I'll stick to the lipglasses.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel in Blacktrack
Burningdesir3 6/1/2009 11:38:00 PM
I really really like this product. What a freaking cute jar lol. I apply this with my 208 and/or 210 MAC brushes. Great payoff and easy to work with. I removed one lippie because I find that its soo thin and liquidy. This is a small issue for me because I have pretty shakey hands sometimes and its so easy to make a mistake with the slightest movement. It might be a little bit more easier to work with if it was a tad bit thicker. I write this with my previous experience with Smashbox's Jet Set Gel liner which was thicker. I wanted to try this because it was much cheaper than Smashbox's. Also, I wish it was waterproof =( Otherwise, great product. I'd love to try other colours !

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #217 Blending
Burningdesir3 5/31/2009 12:54:00 PM
I don't know why it took me so long to buy this brush. The 217, 219 and 239 I call the dangerous trio cause these brushes together are amazingg but the 217 was the one that made it complete. If you were to buy just one eyeshadow brush from MAC, it must be the 217. It's really versatile - it can just deposit colour all over your lids, its awesome for blending, it's tip gets in the crease. I can create the perfect smokey eye with this brush !! I originally purchased the 224 for blending but it is wayyy too big for my tiny asian lids for that lol so I exchanged for this one and it is definitely not a disappointment. I'm in love !! =)

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
Burningdesir3 5/24/2009 2:10:00 AM
I think I've finally found my hg liquid foundation.. I've tried so many and I have not been able to find the one for so long now. I usually wear mineral foundation, but I need liquid foundation for those days when I need maximum coverage. I just finished using up my BB oil free foundation, which I was okay with, and decided to give this one a try. I've only asked for a sample because I have a tendency to break out with a lot of liquid foundations so I needed to test it out first before I committed. It's been almost a week now and I'm sooo completely satisfied with it =) The first thing I noticed when I first used it was the texture - so amazingly light !! This is awesome for my oily skin. I just took a small dab onto my foundation brush and it covered almost half my face.. so a little bit goes a long way. The coverage is medium with just the one layer and its buildable for full coverage. I found a good colour match but then I just recently got really tanned over the last couple of days so I'm gonna have to end up purchasing a darker shade. My once NC25-30 skin was a good match with MUFE 140. I think I'm gonna switch to 153 or 155 now cause of my tan. Best of all.. no breakouts =D (but it is still a bit early to tell really but if I do breakout from foundation, it'd be the next day). The SA told me that she hasn't heard from others who have broken out from this so it should be good.Ask for a sample first to give it a try! I am totally in loveee and I think it is well worth the money!

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle
Burningdesir3 5/22/2009 2:15:00 AM
I've been lemming an MSF for a while and I finally got this one today and wow.. I LOVE it !! It's so sheer and there's not too much colour that its' use is limited - which is why I believe it would be great for all skin tones! I use it two ways: 1) All over the face for a glowy effect. I use the MAC 187 brush with a very light hand and apply it all over the face, pretty much as a finishing powder. Looks awesome.. especially for the summer. But I stress the light hand! Don't wanna over-do it and turn your face into a discoball lol. 2) As a highlighter. I use MAC 165 brush for this. Its more dense and can pick up more product and since its small, it's easier for precise application over cheeks, nose, etc. This MSF is also great for the brow bone! Awesome texture and quality. I can't wait to get more MSFs =)

Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Foundation Brush
Burningdesir3 5/20/2009 2:04:00 PM
So what do I like about this brush.. I think it's cute with the orange bristles. It feels soft.. but that's about it lol. It all comes down to the application and for me it's so streaky! A sponge can apply foundation way better than this brush. Perhaps the bristles aren't fine enough but it didn't work so well for me :( I'm going to try MAC's foundation brushes since they got good reviews.
