Polishes -Catrice - Ultimate Nail Lacquer - #905 Steel My Soul
BunnySlippers 9/13/2012 3:40:00 PM
This colour just came out with a bunch of other products for Autumn 2012. This polish has a new formula called a 'brushed metal effect'. And the effect/ texture of this polish is exactly what it claims to be: a very cool semi matte/ metallic finish, just like brushed metal! The colour: a cool purplish taupe. I know a lot of people will love this colour! Esp. on fair/ pale skin this will be a beautiful colour. I have a medium brown skintone and I do like this colour, but it can look a bit dead with my skintone, maybe b/c it is such a cool purple/ greyish colour combined with the rough brushed steel matte finish. The consistency is a bit thicker than other nail polishes by Catrice, but still easy to work with, although you may have to work a bit faster in order to prevent streaks. Plus, if you are not fan of the matte-ish finish you can always use a high shine topcoat, but the effect is really unique and unlike anything in my stash so I kinda like it. Will I repurchase: well, I actually never repuchase nail polish since I never finish nail polish, BUT I always answer this Q: will I (in hindsight) still purchase this polish given what I know now? YES, it is very different from any nail polish in my stash or from what I have seen around, so very special! Plus, it is dirt cheap, always good to give it a try ;-)

Lipstick -L'Oreal - rouge caresse
BunnySlippers 5/8/2012 9:43:00 AM
I have this in 3 colours: Impulsive Fuchsia, Rock 'N Mauve and Hypnotic Red. I can't compare them to Revlon Lipbutters, since they are not available where I live, but I was very excited to see these in my local drugstore since they seem to have identical claims. The packaging looks nice, reminds me a bit of the Dior Addict Shine lipstick packaging (which is my HG glossy lipstick.) It is a clear tube, but what I love the most: besides the colour sticker with the name on it on one side, the other side has a metallic-y top in the colour range of the lipstick (so bright pink with Impulsive Fuchsia, purple on my Rock 'N Mauve etc.) Very convenient. The texture is smooth and soft like a lipbalm, but still a good colour pay-off. not opaque, but not sheer at all, and very glossy. I have very pigmented lips, and the colours I mentioned above show up really well, they might be a bit brighter when you have less pigmented lips. It has a fruity kind of scent (can't really tell what exactly since my hay-fever flared up terribly..) Lasting power: decent, don't expect miracles. It is like a lipbutter/ lipbalm so these kind of lipsticks don't tend to have long lasting power, but don't mind reapplying at all. The colour range is pretty decent too, they have bright, more bolder colours, esp. love my Rock 'N Mauve, since it is hard to find a nice wearable mauve colour, esp. with a DS brand. They do have more muted colours too if you are into that. The lighter colours don't show up on my pigmented lips, but I am used to bolder colours anyway. The price is rather steep IMO, about 14/15 euro's. I usually only buy HE lipsticks, so compared to that they are a lot cheaper, but still.. For a DS brand I don't like to spend that amount of money. Thank goodness my DS has a lot of special sales (2nd half off etc.) on DS mu, so I waited to purchase mine when such a deal came along. Comparison: Dior Addict shine: colour pay off is more intense with the Dior one, partly because they also carry darker colours than the L'Oreal one. I like my Dior ones, prefer them actually (texture wise), but with quite a big price diff they are a good second, plus the Rock 'N Mauve L' Oreal one is awesome, and Dior lacks these kinds of colours, so it may be a tie actually.. To sum it all up: Pro: - Good colour range for a ds l/s, nice mauves etc. too! - Lovely smooth lipbalm texture - Nice glossy finish - Good colour pay-off. Con: - Price, still rather steep for a ds l/s, rec to wait for sale - Lighter colours don't have such a good colour pay-off when you have pigmented lips (not really a con if you like just a hint of colour) I will def repurchase, maybe I will get some more, but only if I like the rest of the bolder colours (like cheeky magenta, rest is not for me.)

Blush -Essence - Soufflé Touch Blush
BunnySlippers 5/8/2012 9:03:00 AM
I mainly use HE products, but I love to buy Essence and Catrice since it is so cheap and they really have some nice and surprising products. I picked up t his blush in Frozen Strawberry and was expecting more of a cream blush. It is however, as the name promises, more a souffle like texture, quite watery and more gellike in my opinion. It has quite a strong smell, which doesn't bother me, but I know that it can put some people off. Best way to apply it is to take a small amount of product on your fingertips and gently dab it on your cheekbone and blend it out. I made the mistake of applying a bit too much and start rubbing it on my cheek, since it has such a light texture it was absorbed rather quickly and I ended up with a big stain of blush, not pretty at all. But dabbing it on works great, and you can build the intensity but it still stays natural. Another special thing about this blush, besides the fact that it is dirt cheap, it has a nice cooling effect. Great for summer! Powder tends to fade on my combo skin in humid/ hot weather and cream blushes can be too heavy. This however is light and cooling and lasts all day. The packaging is decent, comes in a nice jar and since you don't need a lot of product it will prob go bad before you finished it. I never recommend to keep this kind of products in your car or bag when it's humid or hot, since I think it will go bad way sooner.. They only have 3 shades, 4 if you count the LE one from the Fruity collection, so it is rather limited. Frozen strawberry was the only one that appealed to me and looks nice on me (BB stick foundation in Honey, LM oil free TM in Almond) plus the LE one from the Fruity collection is nice too. To sum it all up: Pro: - Cheap - Cooling effect - Light but buildable texture -A little goes a long way Con: - The scent (I don't mind it, but it is rather strong) - Colour range is very limited Overall, great find, esp. for that price, hope they will add more colours. Will def repurchase, but I don't expect it to be finished anytime soon, prob will go bad before that time, but at this price I don't mind.

Top/Base Coats -Essie - Good to Go! The Fastest Drying Top Coat
BunnySlippers 12/16/2011 4:51:00 AM
I must say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this topcoat. This works especially well with creme or sheer nailpolish underneath (like a lot of Essie n/p). It gives it such a glossy finish, no other topcoat does such a good job. Yesterday, the sunlight literally reflected of my bright green nailpolish LOL At first I was a bit hesitant, b/c I thought the brush was kinda small. And I prefer a brush that will cover your entire nail in one swipe (like OPI). But it is actually not bothering me at all, because of the thin substance of the topcoat (unline seche vite) it is easy to spread. It dries quickly, and it really makes my nailpolish look so gorgeous. So even, superglossy, almost like gelnails, so professional. I must say: I am prone to chipping my nailpolish, I don't know what is wrong with me, it just does. But this definitely makes them last longer, it still differs but at least it doesn't chip the same day. Also, there is no to minimal shrinkage at the tips, so that is a big plus too!! Overall: Pro: - Very very glossy finish, great with cream np - Quite thin consistency, not so thin that it is annoying, but very easy to spread with the little brush and give a nice thick even, glossy coat on your nails. - Dries fast Con: - Price, not the most expensive, but you can find cheaper ones. Will purchase again!

Fragrances -Valentino - Valentina EDP
BunnySlippers 10/6/2011 9:41:00 AM
I have never tried a perfume by Valentino. I am very peculiar when it comes to fragrances. I prob hate 99 percent of what is out there, because it stinks or simply is too generic. I want a perfume to match ME, a scent that will take on my skin and make every layer smell divine. Well, at first: the bottle is gorgeous. It is a glass see through rounded bottle, with a simple metallic band on top wich shows the name 'Valentino' in the front and in the back. The signature trademark of this bottle are the beautiful flower petals and leaves in a pinkish and creamish colour hanging from the metal ring on top of the bottle. The spray head is very special too, it is not just a plain metallic one, but consists of a black marble (didn't want to use ball *snickers*) and you have to press a flat topped round metallic coinshaped top to spray perfume from the marble. The only 'downside': this special spray head is covered by a very cheap plastic top, stating: remove before use. Well, I could have figured that out myself, and you can see the plastic top is not part of the design, but I am still keeping it on when I am not using the perfume, since it makes me believe it will benefit in keeping the scent fresh. Then, the most important part: the scent! The notes feature bergamot, white truffle, white flowers, strawberry, cedar, amber, vanilla, orange blossom and tuberose (plucked this info from the internet.) The scent is developed by Alberto Morillas and Oliver Cresp, and is described as a 'Floriental'. I generally dislike very candysweet scents or too floral (greenish) perfumes. I love more powdery scents, esp. for fall: not too strong, has to blend in with my skin and a soft warm smell that changes but stays during the day. This really is a winner for me: the smell is just gorgeous on my skin and even at the end of the day it leaves a nice soft flowery/powdery smell on my skin. I've been smelling my wrist all day, so has my so. This perfume starts out a bit stronger when you first spray it, wasn't really into it (I mean, it was nice, but didn't discover anything special yet) but after a few minutes the scent developed and it was just gorgeous. I find it very hard to describe a scent in words, since it is generally more a smell and feel yourself kinda thing, but to give you a pic I will name some other perfumes that I love, so you can see wether you identify with my nose or not. Do keep in mind, I can't imagine anyone not loveing this scent, though it is still not something generic, but really special and unique on it's own. My go to scent for this fall!! I will use this in fall, next to my Love, by Chloe (which is a lot stronger). In summer I lean to more fresh, fruity, floral scents like EL Bronze Goddess Soleil, Annick Goutal - petite cherie and Prada infusion de fleur d'oranger (will prob use this in fall too, bc of it's clean smell.) I really recommend you to take a sniff and judge for yourself! I will definitely buy this one again, I already regret not buying a bigger bottle, which says a lot from me and my sensitive smell.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Allure Velvet # 39 La Somptueuse
BunnySlippers 9/14/2011 3:18:00 PM
I am a total lipstick junkie, my fave make-up product ever! I love matte lipsticks, but I find they usually tend to be very drying. But not this one! The colour is gorgeous and rich, and the lipstick actually feels hydrating. The application is so smooth and the shape of the lipstick makes for a perfect application without needing a lipbrush. I have never had a lipstick that contoured so nicely, and I think the matte look attributes to that. I chose this colour, since I already have a few bright reds and wanted something with a brownish undertone. I am a product of mixed parents (half Dutch/ half Indian) so I have a medium brown skintone (although a bit on the paler side, with yellow undertone.) The colour actually lasts for a long time. I am a smoker (yes, I know), and even after a few ciggies, a sandwich and a drink the colour was still there (of course not as potent as before, but still!). The lipstick is a bit more drying than other hydrating lipsticks, it is the price you pay for a matte look, but it isn't bad at all, and I have very dry lips so trust me. The packaging is very luxurious, what can be expected from chanel, beautiful black casing, with gold top. It has a click mechanism, which I like 'cause the risk of the cap coming off in your bag is less high. The matte look will be really lovely for fall, and there are diff colours to complement each skintone. Very expensive, but worth the money, will def purchase again! The weird thing is: I only find Dutch sites that mention this lippie, and in other countries the release date seems to be a lot later. Well, that's a first for me!

Treatments (Eye) -Yves Saint Laurent - Top Secrets Flash Touch Wake-Up Eyecare
BunnySlippers 6/30/2011 6:56:00 PM
I came across this product and I had never heard of it before. It was quite expensive, but for some reason I got it for half price. When I came home and googled the product I found out it is actually a brand new product in the Top Secrets range from YSL! I am really into skincare and am constantly trying different products looking for my HG. Let's start off with the packaging: it is an eye roller with the same clicking technique as Touche Eclat, Size: 2.5 ml. For first time use you have to click it 10 times to activate the product. After that it's one click per eye. Formula Secrets (from YSL website) - Plant complex enriched with arnica to erase signs of fatigue (puffiness and dark circles) - Extract from Silver Birch buds combined with pink-coloured correcting pigments to visibly smooth out the eye contour area. - Glycosylated taxifolin, a powerful flavonoid extract from larch, to protect the eye contour area against free radicals and prevent it from the effects of cellular ageing. The application instruction read as follows: 'This roll-on pen can be used whenever you desire on the eye contour area, before make-up application. 1) Click on the top of the roll-on pen, to release the desired amount of product (one click is enough for each eye). For the first use, click ten times to activate the product. 2) Apply to the eye contour, focusing on puffy areas and dark circles, with alternate circular movements from the inner corner to the outer corner of the eye. Then massage with circular movements on the crow’s feet. 3) Finish with light pressure points from the inner corner of the eye to the crow’s feet, to stimulate decongestion.' I am 22 so I don't really have wrinkles yet, but I find it is good to start early on, better to prevent it! Besides, if you really have profound lines around the eye area, this product is probably not for you! The roller feels nice, and one click is definitely enough for one eye. The roller feels nice and cool, love the feeling of it in the morning, the cooling effect alone wakes you up. After use the skin around my eyes does look more radiant and feels nice and moisturized without a sticky/ greasy feel. I'm not sure if this is suitable if you tend to have very dry skin 'cause it really is quite light. As promised: great as base for make-up. Blends in perfectly, which is mostly the contribution of the light texture of this product. I have only been using this for about a week, so I can't comment on the long term effects. Will definitely place an update in a few weeks! The first and only negative I could come up with this early on: although the packaging is clean, luxurious and simple, which I like, you can't see how much product you have left. I would definitely be annoyed if I am getting ready for work early in the morning and as a big wake-up surprise the product is empty.. So, this is my review for now, in a few weeks I will place an update. Overview: Pro's: - Clicking technique very effective, just the right amount of product, so no waste - Roller feels nice and cool - Clear instructions included - Great make-up base - Light texture - The cooling effect & massage does make you look more radiant - More hygienic than rubbing your fingers around the eye area - Packaging is clean and simple, and very important: compact and light . So easy to take it with you. Con: - You can't see how much product is left. - Maybe the price, I got it with a 50 percent discount (I think) and I paid around 20 euro's. I don't know how long it will last, so can't say anything about that yet. Hope you like my review, and see you again in a few weeks!

Polishes -OPI - Teenage Dream (Katy Perry)
BunnySlippers 6/30/2011 2:37:00 PM
Really fun and girly nail polish. I am usually not into those cutiepie nailpolishes, but this one I really like! The glitter goes on opaque, I use 2-3 layers and of course a topcoat, it will last longer and will give it a nice shine. Without a topcoat it feels a bit rough (due to the glitters) which will make it chip faster. It is very versatile: you could wear it as an opaque glitter, or over another nailpolish to just add some sparkle. It is not just a random glitter nail polish: you have small and bigger chunks of glitter, and a variety of pinkish silvery glitter with a nice reflection. Cute, but due to the natural nail pinkish colour (meaning not Barbie pink) it is wearable during the day (as long as you don't work at a more formal place) The only pain is removing this nail polish. But that's a negative for all glitter nail polishes, so won't take away a lippie for that. Would buy again.

Powder -Kanebo - Total Finish
BunnySlippers 6/28/2011 7:42:00 PM
I use this product daily, and am already using my 4th refill. I have medium brown skin and use Amber Beige or Almond beige. What I like about this range is the variety of colours. It really can be hard to find a good powder for medium brown skin since a lot of brands tend to have a extensive range for lighter skin, and one or two for the darker skin which tend to be too dark. Really annoying. In winter I use a sponge for application, it gives a good coverage, gives me some colour and evens out my skintone which tends to get very pale (yes even tinted girls can get a pale unhealthy look) and uneven. It feels velvetty smooth, but can look cakey if applied to thick or in the wrong lighting. I have combination skin, with an oily t-zone but very dry skin elsewhere. A big con is that I sometimes have flaky skin in winter and it gets really noticeable if you apply powder over it, since it can be quite drying. Love the casing, with the separate compartment for your sponge, very hygienic. Plus no unnecessary packaging due to the refills. In summer I apply this with a brush for a more natural look. I know it is a foundation powder, but I actually use it as a setting powder over EL daywear sheer tint or my foundation. 'It gives my face something extra, and when applied lightly with a brush it doesn't get cakey. Plus, I can't seem to find a irridiscent powder for my skintone, since they always leave a white-ish talc-y sheen on my skin. Pro's: - wide range of colours (also for the (medium) brown ladies!) - good coverage - velvety smooth Con's: - The price - CAN be cakey and drying (especially during winter of when your skin gets lighter or more tan due to the weather) - With oily skin and/or hot weather the staying power isn't very long, you really need to reapply during the day. I will buy this product again, since I haven't found a better one which matches my skintone, and when applied right is does give a natural look with good coverage. Great for gals wo hate the feel of liquid foundations.

Lipstick -Christian Dior - DIORIFIC -- Gypsy Red
BunnySlippers 6/28/2011 7:24:00 PM
I have medium brown skin with a yellow undertone, and this lipstick looks really nice on me. The colour is quite BAM in your face, but because of the matte finish and brownish/plum undertone it is also wearable during the day if you keep your eyes very natural with just some mascara. I think this colour is really made for us beige/amber/almond skintone ladies. Can definitely suit caucasian skin, but daywear will be a lot more daring. It is a longlasting lipstick, like it says, but there comes the mayor downside most of the longlasting lipsticks have: it dries out my lips like crazy!! I must say, I only used it in winter, so I already had quite dry lips, but I needed to reapply lipbalm over my lipstick all day, because I hated the drying feeling. Really a downer for me, I personally prefer to reapply my lipstick a few times a day than having a longlasting one that just makes my lips feel all Sahara Desert-y. Ugh.. I don't really like the casing of the Diorific lipsticks, but that's personal. They look really outdated and although a vintage look can be really nice, this just gives me a 'We just found a dusty box full of these way in the back, dunno how old these are'-feeling.. I stopped using this lipstick because of the drying effect, such a shame since it is quite expensive and the colour and matte finish is lovely.. Maybe I will dig it up and give it another chance, but I will definitely NOT repurchase!

Lip Treatments -Yves Saint Laurent - Exfoliating lip balm
BunnySlippers 6/28/2011 7:10:00 PM
I actually got this product with a 70 percent discount, so it really didn't cost me a lot, about 12 euro's. So I couldn't resist taking it home with me! I used to have quite dry and chappy lips, especially in wintertime I sometimes had to cop a feel just to make sure they are still there...Horrible. Since I have been using more moisturizing lipsticks it has approved a lot, good to take in account. It comes in a cute tube with the signature golden cap, and it is a very girly pink colour. The packaging recommends two types of use: the first by rubbing it gently on your lips and to wipe it off with a tissue. Or you can leave it on longer and then wipe it off. I actually rinse it off, since I use this product right before I take a shower. It is gentle on the lips, and leaves a very moisturized layer on your lips, it really is a balm and not just an exfoliator. The smell is really peppermint-y and feels really tingly and cooling on the lips. I really like these kind of luxury products to pamper myself from time to time, but I don't consider this to be a must-have. My lips do look great and I really see a nice effect and improvement (especially when I apply my lipstick afterwards.) But the scrubbing beads dissapear rather quickly so I don't think it is the solution for very dry chappy lips. Maybe if you use it regularly, a big plus is that it is very gentle and moisturizing so you won''t damage your lips and it isn't painful at all (and ladies who do have really dry lips know what I am talking about.) I have only used it three times, and since it is summer I can't really tell what the effects are in winter. I will place an update after I used this for a month! So, to sum it all up. Nice fun luxury product, but not really a necessity. I agree with the other reviewers that you can find a cheaper alternative. But I like to splurge on these products and it does look nice on my vanity. Will I buy it again? I don't think so. It is a nice and fun product to have, but if you consider the price it is really expensive. If I ever see it on sale again, I may buy it, but no way I will be spending the normal retail price!

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Crystal Lipstick in Crystal Orchid
BunnySlippers 6/28/2011 6:30:00 PM
I actually got this lipstick as a free gift when I purchased a LOT of EL skincare products. It is a fullsize lipstick in a gold cover (so not in a pallette, like some of the reviewers have.) I really can't imagine someone not liking the smell of these lipsticks!! I love love love! the smell! I actually catch myself just opening the lipstick to take a whiff, But I guess it's personal. I have medium brown skin with a yellow undertone and my lips are quite pigmented. I really like this colour, it is one of my faves! Personally I'm not really into shimmery lipsticks, I like a nice creme shine, but no sparkly glittery stuff. This lipstick does have some shimmer, but it is very subtle and really turns the colour into something special. The colour on me is not very easy to describe, it's kind of a red with a hint of plum and a subtle gold shimmer. I really recommend everyone to just try it out in a store, since my description is not really clear and lipstick colour also depends on your skintone and pigment of your lips. If I read my own description it sounds kinda ugly lol, but it is really pretty. I wear it in the daytime as in the evening, maybe it is my skintone but it really is appropriate for the daytime. I usually keep my eyes very natural, with just a touch of mascara and some highlighter under my brows. DEFINITELY will buy it again! If I ever finish it of course.

Masks -Mudd - Original Masque
BunnySlippers 6/11/2011 6:36:00 AM
I have combination skin, my T-zone is normal to oily and especially my cheeks are quite dry. I bought this mask yesterday in a local drugstore, it was a loose sachet (trial pack). Before applying the mask, I steamed my face for approximately 10 minutes (I put in a Lush Vitamine C toner tab in my steambath). I then dabbed my face with a soft towel and started applying the mask. There is really a lot of product, so my face was covered well. Looked kinda funny greyish/ green. Thank god I told my boyfriend beforehand that he shouldn't make me laugh, since it would crack my mask. I really can't remember the smell too well, so it could not have been disgusting or overwhelming, which is a good thing. The mask dries quite fast, and it REALLY gets very dry! It tightened my face like you couldn't believe. I just closed my eyes, because the slightest movement (blinking an eye, turning your head to look at the time) really felt uncomfortable. So I would suggest to just sit/ or lie with your eyes closed and just relax. I looked really funny though, since it got so tight even my normal face expression was rendered impossible> I had the most hilarious stoic/ no emotions at all look on my face. At least I couldn't even laugh if I wanted to, since the mask was way too tight/ dry for that. I left it on for approximately 15 minutes. I then used a soft washcloth and used the leftover water from my steambath (in the mean time it cooled down to a nice warm temperature) to wash it off. If you use plenty of warm wather on you cloth it comes of rather easy, but it takes some time to take it all of. When I completely removed the mask, my skin felt very dry and tight, it actually felt if there was still some residue on my face which kept it tight. My skin felt very smooth though, and my pores were non-existent! The tight feeling afterwards could be uncomfortable for some people, and I would definitely NOT recommened this for people with dry and/ or very sensitive skin. After I rubbed the product off of my face I cleaned my face with a cotton pad with tonic (Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean fresh balancing lotion for combination skin) to remove any residue and close my pores. Then I used my regular moisturizer and eye cream (Bergman 24 hour guard day & night cream, Bergman Smooth Look eye cream). After I put on my moisturizer the very dry feeling was gone. I still experienced some tightening but I could feel with my hands my face was really hydrated (because of the moisturizer.) The next morning (while I am typing this) my skin felt very smooth and soft, and it really reduced/ dried out any impurities and my pores looked great, very minimized, the mask also drained impurities (like blackheads) from my problem areas such as the side of my nose and jawline. It didn't experience servere stinging like other reviewers, it did feel really uncomfortable to leave my eyes open, but I really don't mind to relax for a bit with my eyes closed. Pro's: - The price, inexpensive - Drains out all impurities - Dramatically minimizes pores - Dries the larger impurities, by the nex day they are almost gone - Absorbs all excess oil (very suitable for combination or oily skin) - You could really feel it working, which is a plus for me - Easy to rins off using a washcloth and warm water - Easy to apply, no need for adding water/ mixing anything etc. Con's: - Really dries your skin, nothing a good moisturizer can't fix for those combination/ oily skin gals, but wouldn't recommend it to women with very sensitive or dry skin. - The very tight feeling can be uncomfortable for some people. Conclusion: I've only used it once, so I can't tell what the long term effects are, but I will definitely repurchase!

Lipstick -Christian Dior - Serum De Rouge
BunnySlippers 6/9/2011 7:43:00 AM
Let's start off with a description: I am half European/ half Indian so my skintone is light brown (winter) to medium brown (summer) with a yellow undertone. My lips are quite pigmented, which can be a problem with lipsticks. I used to have very dry lips, which looked horrible with lipstick on. I came across Dior Serum de Rouge while shopping with my mother. We both like Dior a lot, and there happened to be a Dior make-up artist present at that time due to a promotion. She picked out #880 plum serum and started to apply it. I immediately felt the buttery soft creamy texture which made my lips very moisturized. When she showed me the result in the mirror I was at awe how great it looked! It has a nice shine, but not over the top or glittery so still sophisticated. This colour really complements skin with a yellow undertone! And the best of all: I didn't even scrub my lips to remove flakies or put on a lipbalm first, but my lips were just perfect and smooth! This lipstick immediately became my favourite one! I used it almost everyday during winter, the worst period for dry, cracking lips, but once I applied it, you couldn't see anything of the sort! I don't seem to have a problem with the 'clicking' packaging like other reviewers. You will never overextend the stick with the risk of causing it to break. I dont have a problem putting the cap on, I never scrape excess product, since you can control how far the stick is extended. There are a few downsides though: First of all, the price! I was expecting it to be expensive while standing at the check out counter, since I am used to buying products from Dior, but my my.. I was quite startled when she showed me the price. But I must say it is totally worth it! Yes, 2g seems very little, but it really goes a long way, because of the buttery/ creamy texture, you don't need a lot. I've been using it everyday during winter, and still am using it now and I guess I have still a long way to go. This leads to another downside: I like the clicking system, BUT you can't tell how much product you have left. I find that rather annoying, cause I liked to know exactly the current state of my make-up stash. Another downside of the packaging as mentioned by another MUA review, you can only see the number at the bottom of the stick, not the colour. The testers in the store have coloured caps, so you can immediately see what colour it is. Since I have 2, I also purchased #870 Ruby serum (which is actually a beautiful bright bright red toned pink), it is almost impossible to see the difference. I actually kept the silver Dior sticker on the #870 so I can see what colour it is by the blink of an eye. Something that can be a con, but is just a matter of appling it well: because of the buttery texture, you really have to watch smudging it with your fingers, or rubbing some on your face while blowing your nose (charming haha). The colours I have are quite dark/bright so it stains quite easily. Nothin a bit of good ol' rubbing and some compact powder can't fix, but you just have to check it once in a while. The lipstick doesn't last very long, I have to apply multiple times during the day, but I really don't mind that at all. It doesn't dissapear completely though, it leaves a hint of colour on my lips which looks rather nice. Also, since I have been using this I really don't have dry lips anymore! I am able to use other lipsticks now, like it worked like some kind of liptreatment! What I do love about the packaging? Well, it is just stunning, love the slim packaging, and it is rather heavy > like the feel when holding it. It gives a very luxurious feeling when applying this lipstick. Plus, I can easily work with the slanted tip which makes sure your lipstick always is at the perfect angle for application, unlike 'normal' lipsticks which tend to to lose the tip and become round after using it for a while. I will be looking for some more colours! The colours I have are great for pigmented lips and a yellow skin undertone. Not all the colours suit me, the lighter ones are a bit boring for me. I also feel that some colours differ very little, and I don't like to buy nearly identical colours. To sum it all up: Pro's: - Great colour and texture for pigmented lips - Moisturizes and has a nice shiny/ creamy finish - Application: love the slanted tip and the texture makes sure it just glides on easily - The packaging looks absolutely gorgeous, and has a nice heavy hold. - The clicking system prevents you from overextending the stick to prevent any damage. - GREAT for dry lips. Even in icy cold weather when your lips consist of cracks and flakies and you feel they can just fall of: you don't need to scrub or use balm, it makes your lips look smooth and moisturized, and works as a liptreatment in the long term. - Last quite a long time if you take in consideration everyday use with multiple touch ups during the day - A few great colours for us yellow undertone gals! Con's: - The price, EXPENSIVE! - You can't see how much product is left - Due to the texture it has a tendency to stain/ smudge if you are not careful - You can't easily tell which colour it is if you own more colours, since it is lacking a coloured cap/ bottom. - Not longlasting, need to reapply multiple times a day - Little difference among some colours I really love this product and would definitely repurchase! I will just close my eyes for a sec while she scans it at the register $$$..

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle 05

I actually don't own the fullsize version of this lipstick. I got a very cute luxury miniature rouge coco mademoiselle, same case and everything, just smaller as a sample! I already looked up a lot of swatches online and although the colours looked very pretty I wasn't sure it was for me. I am mixed myself (half European/ half Indian) and have light/ medium brown skin. The natural colour of my lips is a bit darker pinkish red, so too soft/ nude colours often look terrible on me because the colour of my lips changes the original colour into something way too light/ pale for my skincolour. When I got this at first I didn't even try it on, cause I expected that Mademoiselle, being a soft pink/ natural colour just wouldn't work for me. A few weeks ago, while cleaning out my make-up stash I found it again and WOW. It does really work for me! I was really very surprised since I expected it to be only for fairskinned women or women with a light natural lipcolour. I love how this lipstick looks almost great on everyone, and creates an unique shade depending on someone's skintone and natural lip colour! For example, on my very blonde friend with quite light lips it looks like a very soft natural pink, just a tad darker than her own lip colour, but very sophisticated. On me it stands out a bit more, since it does make my lip a tad lighter, but stil manages to hold a beautiful colour and texture! Great way to make my lips grab the attention without having to grap a bright lipstick! I have very dry lips, but I can put this lipstick on without having to put lipbalm underneath it. I actually discovered that my lips are a lot less dry, almost normal moist lips, since I started to use lipstick everyday, and not the longlasting kind, which tend to be drying, but ones that also hydrate your lips. This is definitely not a longlasting lipstick, it fades rather quickly and leaves a nice pinkish creamy hue. I really don't mind to apply my lipstick a few times a day, or my lipstick stash will never get smaller! The only downside is probably the price, although I really think this lipstick is worth it. It is a colour almost everyone can wear, is an everyday colour and complements with almost everything. For these everyday lipsticks I don't mind to pay more money, since a good everyday lipstick is worth a lot! So, to sum it al up and a few extra's: Pro's: - very creamy, not dry - NOT glittery, I hate that, they tend to end up all over my face - Visible, yet natural colour, perfect for everyday - Suits a lot of skintones - Very luxurious packaging Con's: - The price (although it IS worth it) - Not for gals looking for a more longlasting lipstick.
