Treatments -Aussie - 3 Minute Miracle
BronxBaby 11/28/2004 7:43:00 PM
I adore this stuff and use it each day! I have fine yet thick hair that tangles VERY easily. As a result, nearly every conditioner I've ever used forced me to use a spray-in detangler afterwards. Having found 3 Minute Miracle, I've managed to eliminate that step entirely. I can finally comb through my hair after washing it without getting caught in knots and tangles. It also seems to tame my frizzies and make my hair more sleek overall. Finally, the bottle is well designed so you get every last bit out.
It's readily available and cheap, too. Better yet, Sally's has a generic version for the same price that's 24 ounces instead of 8! The original is only a few dollars, but I've found this to be just as effective--with fewer trips to the store.

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Moisturizing Cream
BronxBaby 11/28/2004 7:27:00 PM
At long last, my beloved HG of moisturizers!! I have moderate rosacea with blemish-prone, dry skin, but this product gently and effectively moisturizes my skin without causing breakouts or irritation. It's especially wonderful during the winter when my skin has a tendency to become dry and flaky. It's also a nice body treatment, as well.
Ounce per ounce, Cetaphil Cream is very cheap and readily easy to find. Plus, using it every single day, the full-sized jar has still lasted me well over 10 months! Between the low cost and the high quality of this product, I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone with rosacea or sensitive skin!

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Forbidden Fantasy
BronxBaby 11/3/2004 1:27:00 PM
Great scent :) IMO it really smells like a cross between Love Spell and Pretty in Pink. Like Love Spell, there is that familiar fruity/'grapefruity' scent, but it's slightly more powdery and gentle like Pretty in Pink. Perfect for people who like Love Spell, but want a softer version of it.

Treatments -Clean & Clear - Advantage Acne Spot Treatment

I'm a rosacean and have been on the search for a decent BHA/salicylic product since more and more rosacea experts seem to be recommending this route. However, this is one product that I wouldn't recommend for rosaceans or sensitive skin types. I stupidly purchased this product without checking the ingredients and was later quite surprised to see alcohol and fragrance so high up in the listing. In fact, I'm pretty certain it was those very things which caused it to irritate my skin terribly--leaving it very splotchy, red and inflamed. I couldn't even tell if it was freeing up my pores/preventing future break-outs because my skin looked so horrible overall. It definitely wasn't ideal for day use under makeup, but to its credit, it didn't dry my skin out.
I'm so glad it works for many other gals, but this isn't one I'd recommend for us sensitive skinned types.

Treatments -Clinique - Total Turnaround Visible Skin Renewer
BronxBaby 8/18/2004 2:46:00 AM
I have rosacea/blemish prone/dry skin. The first few times I tried this product, I used it infrequently & many days apart. At that time, it seemed to be functioning like other BHAs: somewhat unclogging my pores & improving the overall clarity of my skin. However, once I started using it every nite-and then every other nite, I had the same bad reaction that other gals are reporting. My skin became irritated, red & I completely broke out. This product may work very well for some gals, just maybe not for us rosacea/sensitive skin types.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Color Juice Raspberry Smash
BronxBaby 6/19/2004 1:24:00 AM
Great example of a color that looks like the perfect, girly red in the tube, then goes on your lips bright fuschia. I think CJs are fantastic in how long they last on your lips & how glossy they are...but this color isn't quite what I'd thought. Edited: Added one lippie. The color isn't so bad when ya don't go overboard with it.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipgloss- Cherries in the Glow [DISCONTINUED]
BronxBaby 5/29/2004 1:45:00 AM
I've never liked wand glosses, so I'm surprised at how much I like this! Cherries in the Glow is one of those great your-lips-but-better shades..very pretty and classic! Neatest thing about SLs is that they look like you've applied a lipstick and then put a super shiny separate clear gloss over them. I'm really amazed at how glossy these look, as well as how long they last. Taste isn't fantastic, but it's not overpowering enough to be bothersome. A definite staple :)

Masks -Freeman - Pure Ambition Purifying Facial Clay mask with Avocado and Oatmeal
BronxBaby 5/24/2004 2:15:00 AM
Rosacean here. I tried this as an alternative to QHMJM and was thrilled with how, comparatively speaking, creamy and luxurious it feels. Also unlike QHMJM, I find this to be moisturizing and more gentle fragrance-wise. However, I think the oil in it may be breaking me out. Every single time I've used this product I've woken up with terrible irritated skin....not purging....just horrible skin. Shame because this stuff is a great deal. I agree with the other reviewer who said this is probably more suitable for mature, non-blemish prone skin.

Lip Gloss -Little Shop of Beauty - Martini Lip Balm- All flavors
BronxBaby 5/17/2004 11:18:00 PM
These are like the AstroGlide of lip balms. I'm amazed at how smoothly they go on---like nothing I've ever tried. The flavors are good and tasty, but not overpowering. Gentle tint. The cute see-thru tube lets you know how much you have left. A bit more than I like to pay for my lil balms, but they're definitely unique.

Treatments -St. Ives - Hair Repair Intensive Conditioner Moisture Treatment
BronxBaby 5/14/2004 1:39:00 AM
I first bought a sample packet of this and adored the cool, tingling sensation. Upon buying the bottle, I found that the tingling only came when I used the stuff weeks apart. However, it weighs down my baby fine hair & doesn't help with my tangles...

Cleansers -Alpha Hydrox - Foaming Face Wash
BronxBaby 5/14/2004 1:28:00 AM
At long last I've found you, my HG of cleansers! My ultra-sensitive skin (Rosacea) has reacted badly to every single cleanser I've ever tried... including Cetaphil, Olay Sensitive, Purpose, Clinique Mild, etc. This is the only cleanser I've found that doesn't leave my skin itchy, raw, irritated and/or red. It even removes all my makeup beautifully. As other reviewers have said, it can be a little drying (like most cleansers). Fortunately, my Cetaphil Cream is heavy-duty enough to combat that lil issue.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Repairwear Day SPF 15 Cream
BronxBaby 5/10/2004 1:32:00 PM
Like the reviewer below (Kimmi) I also had a bad reaction to this. My skin became really itchy/ uncomfortable and it began to break out. The night version has never given me any problems whatsoever, so I suspect it's the sunscreen ingredients that I can't tolerate. I have sensitive skin, though (rosacea) so this may work just fine for gals with normal skin.

Lip Gloss -Burt's Bees - Farmers Market Lip Gloss
BronxBaby 4/28/2004 3:55:00 AM
The price is great but (as others have said) this stuff is definitely not as good as the classic Beeswax Balm. I found it difficult to remove the gloss from the tub because of its harder consistency and I didn't care much for the somewhat chalky taste. There is a very faint taste of whatever flavor you pick, but it seems to be a bit overwhelmed by the other ingredients.

Misc Beauty Tools -Tweezerman - Blackhead/Blemish Extractor
BronxBaby 4/28/2004 3:51:00 AM
This is a great way to feed the face-picking obsession...without all the damage. I prefer using the blackhead removing end because the other side sometimes tears my skin. But then, I probably haven't perfected the Tweezerman's art yet. This is a great tool to have around....especially after using Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask.

Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Lipslicks - Edgy
BronxBaby 4/28/2004 3:47:00 AM
Guess I'm in the minority on this one. I like LipSlicks (except for the taste)....but Edgy seriously makes me look dead. I have really fair skin and it gives my lips this odd purplish tint that corpses have. I probably just need a tan, but I'll stick with Hipster from now on. :)
