Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
BritRose 10/30/2011 3:48:00 PM
I'm one of the few for whom this product just doesn't work. It's supposed to work with all color types, but on my fair, cool skin it just looks silly. I wanted to love it, but instead returned it. The good news is, BeneFit has several similar shades that work for us fair-skinned gals who just can't wear NOB.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Coralista
BritRose 10/30/2011 3:17:00 PM
I really like BeneFit blushes - they are well pigmented, not too sparkly, and last a long time. Coralista is my latest BeneFit blush. It's great for fair skin, and makes my blue eyes really pop. Because I have pink undertones, I sometimes "pink" this up a bit by adding a dash of BeneFit's Throbbb on top. Well worth the price, as it lasts forever.

Mascara -Tarina Tarantino - Fleur De Lash in Black Opal
BritRose 2/23/2011 6:55:00 AM
LOVE this mascara! I'm so picky with mascaras because I have sensitive eyes, and I can't tolerate flaking, smearing or clumping. This mascara is thick, and the wand takes a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, you'll have thick, LONG lashes that stay put all day and night. It washes off with soap and water, and has no irritating scent. I usually prefer a little more natural look, so I actually put a coat of this on top my regular curling mascara - on the top lashes only. It darkens my light lashes perfectly and adds the volume I need to highlight my eyes. On my third tube, and will certainly buy again!

Misc Beauty Tools -MAC - Brush Cleanser
BritRose 7/31/2010 3:10:00 PM
Great brush cleanser! It just seems to desolve away even the gooiest residue on brushes, yet never damages the bristles. Works with natural or synthetic bushes, and rinses clean with just a little water. Brushes are an investment... I keep mine for ages using this cleanser at least once a week. The best.

Lip Gloss -Stila - Lip glaze
BritRose 7/31/2010 2:49:00 PM
I'm picky about lip gloss, but I particularly hated this one. Although it comes in a wide variety of colors, the formula is too sticky. It feels gross (and even burns a little), tastes horrible. It's so thick that it doesn't even look nice. I returned mine.

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30
BritRose 7/31/2010 2:44:00 PM
Great stuff! Very little scent, no stickiness, and no white residue. I have this in SPF 30 for body and SPF 50 for the face. Not for daily use, but whenever I'm outside for a long period of time, I protect with this. It's expensive, but worth it to protect without the sticky gross feeling of other sun blocks. Love, love, love it!

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
BritRose 7/31/2010 2:32:00 PM
I got this in a kit and didn't use it for months... what a pleasant surprise when I did! This worked better than my UDPP, which I'd thought was the gold standard - at a fraction of the price. What makes it better is that the tube packaging does not allow the product to dry up, so there is no balling, flaking or waste. Shadow Insurance won't settle in lines, and disappears quickly with no color or sparkle residue. Holds my creme and powder shadows all day without creasing, and even hides any vein lines on lids. I've already purchased another, and have found my new favorite shadow primer!

Scrubs -Boots - Organic Face Smoothing Polish
BritRose 7/24/2010 2:42:00 PM
I've been using this for over a year, and love it - one of the best beauty deals out there. My skin is very sensitive, and can get dull & blotchy with enlarged pores. This scrub keeps all those nasty effects at bay, without drying me out. I use (gently!) every evening after washing my face, and my skin is smoother, more even, and with almost invisible pores. I love that it's organic because there is nothing in it to irritate my skin, and zero scent. The best part is the price - dirt cheap! My only gripe is that it's only sold at Target, and they are sometimes out of stock. When I'm out, I really see a difference in my skin, and can't wait to get more...

Concealers -Amazing Cosmetics - Amazing Concealer
BritRose 7/24/2010 2:06:00 PM
My new favorite concealer! Normally I'm skeptical of cult-status products, but this one is worth they hype. I have fair, transparent skin with dark blue circles since my early 20's. Now add on a few fine lines, and my concealer has a tough job to do! Amazing Concealer is up to the task: it covers, blends well, and NEVER sinks into fine lines. The color will not budge or change all day, even in hot, humid weather. The one important thing to note is that you can easily overdo it with this - I never even squeeze the tube. Instead I just take the tiny bit that pools in the cap or around the dispensing hole, and apply with a medium firm concealer brush. Then I hold my finger gently over the applied area to warm the concealer (helps it to blend in), and I'm all set! It disappears into my skin for the rest of the day! I'm worried that in Winter the lightest shade may be too dark for me (we'll see), but for now, I don't leave the house without this on!

Blush -NARS - The Multiple in Orgasm
BritRose 7/20/2010 7:21:00 AM
This just didn't work for me, and I'm not sure about all the hype around it. The color was the main thing - too bright and un-natural for my fair skin. But what really made me return it was that it creased like crazy on my lids, even with a good primer. Just not worth the $ IMO. I use The Balm's Hot Mamma, which is a peachy-pink that I think works much better and wears all day. A good recommendation for those who find NARS MO doesn't work for them, either.

Cleansers -Olay - Daily Facials
BritRose 5/22/2010 11:55:00 AM
I haven't washed my face with anything else for years... these cloths are the best. They are gentle. soft, with just the right amount of cleanser. I have very sensitive skin, but never break out or dry out using these. They're even effective for taking off mascara, as long as you don't use a waterproof formula. I use the sensitive skin ones in Summer, and extra moisturizing in Winter. Convenient for travel, too!

Lotions/ Creams -Neutrogena - Norwegian Formula Hand Cream
BritRose 5/22/2010 11:21:00 AM
I started using this years ago, and have yet to find anything better. Though I was disappointed to find that they've added scent (the old formula was scent free), this stuff remains the most concentrated, effective product for seriously dry hands and feet... even provides relief from chapping during LONG cold Michigan winters. It's pretty cheap, too... I have one in my travel bag, one on my night stand, and one at my desk at work. HG, for sure.

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Lancome Juicy Tubes
BritRose 5/22/2010 10:59:00 AM
I got a sample of this, and have to admit I love the color. But the texture is just too goopy for me, and really didn't make my lips feel softer or moisturized. Note that I am probably way too picky about lip glosses, so the texture might not bother everyone. I just think there are better, cheaper glosses out there that are less... distracting to wear.

Loose Powders -Bare Escentuals - Mineral Veil
BritRose 5/22/2010 10:53:00 AM
I hate BE products because I swear they make me look dramatically OLDER - and I've noticed that effect with many other women, too. I've tried the products several times, but the older I get, the worse they make me look. Mineral Veil is the one exception. This is a really good finishing powder - super fine-milled with just the tiniest touch of illumination - NOT sparkles. When applied lightly with a kabuki brush, it sets make-up nicely and looks invisible close-up - which is what a setting powder is supposed to do. Not sure I'd buy again because there are so many cheaper products on the market, but it really does work nicely.

Mascara -Lancome - Definicils Mascara
BritRose 5/22/2010 10:43:00 AM
Yet another mascara I bought and returned. I adore Lancome products, and have to admit this mascara goes on nicely at first. But it smeared after a few hours, and left me with racoon eyes - simply not tolerable for a high end mascara. Also, while I found it lengthening, but a little too fake and stiff-looking for my liking.
