Cleansers -The Body Shop - Tea Tree Oil Face Wash
rated 5 of 5
BoAlove 3/14/2004 11:21:00 PM

I absolutely LOVE this product-- it cleanses my normal-oily skin effectively, removes oil, grime blackheads & light makeup & clears clogged pores without drying the skin out or irritating it. It also calms a serious pimple outbreak & controls it all in just one wash. I must say it is a must try for combination, oily & acne-prone skins.

Polishes -Fasio - Sparks on Nail Quick Dry Nail Polish
rated 4 of 5
BoAlove 1/31/2004 11:23:00 PM

Another Fasio product worth looking out for. It comes in a wide range of bold, outrageous yet trendy & eye catching colours. It is easily applied, but the polish can form lumps on the nail if not applied in thin layers. With rosemary extract & Apricot Kernel Oil to nourish nails. It is chip resistant for at least one week. This polish however, will fade over time, and so needs to be re-applied. Cheap too, for a 13ml bottle of polish. Worth a look, at least.

Loose Powders -Canmake - Canmake Micro Loose Powder
rated 3 of 5
BoAlove 1/31/2004 11:14:00 PM

A mirco-grained weightless powder that spreads out smoothly & covers pores. It doesn't absorb excess oil well, however, & so an oil blotter is needed. Come with UV protection but doesn't protect against the drying effects of air-conditioning despite claming to do so. The powder will also fade after 4-5 hours. It comes in 3 non-pigmented shades, 2 of which are shimmery. The packaging also ensures that the powder won't spill out. It's nice to apply over foundation, but there are better buys out there. Canmake is an excellent drugstore brand, but this product is one of its few misses

Lip Gloss -Etude - Fruits Tube
rated 5 of 5
BoAlove 1/24/2004 7:54:00 AM

One of the better glosses out there. Quite cheap too. Loved the packaging (tube was long & thin with a slanted plastic applicator.) I got an over-riped strawberry (deep red) coloured & smelling gloss which will look great on non-pigmented lips. The gloss was a tad too sticky, but it was easily spread with a finger & it lasted reasonably long too. Wear it alone for more natural lips or on your eyelids with some eyeliner for some smooth sheen. Will definitely repurchase!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Delights (all shades) [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
BoAlove 1/19/2004 5:40:00 AM

Got this in Crazy Rose in Singapore, a candy-pinkish red shade. The constituency was silken smooth, light to the touch & pretty pigmented when I tested it at the shop. Had been eyeing this for some time, so bought it. Made a mistake! This thing was barely pigmented on my eyelids, and went on sheer & shimmery instead! Was irritated enough when I discovered I needed to pile up 4-5 layers with my finger to see the colour. Further more, it started to crease & fade off within 1 hour! Verdict: Waste of money. This eyeshadow has made me wary of creme eyeshadows. Buy powder ones instead-- the best of the lot!

Foundations -Za - Two-Way Foundation SPF20 PA++
rated 5 of 5
BoAlove 12/29/2003 6:58:00 AM

Over time I've tried numerous foundations, from L'oreal to Maybelline, Wet 'n' Wild to Whitia, but I still say this tops over them! It gives a fabulously sheer, radiant & flawless, yet natural look. Goes on velvety & smoothly too! Doesn't stay on very long though, & there is a need to blot after a few hours. But in this wretched Singapore humid weather, who's complaining? (I have normal to oily yet sometimes sensitive skin) Didn't clog my pores/caused any breakout. TIP: Apply this foundation lightly, with medium coverage on the cheeks only, & then blend at jawline towards neck. Finish off with a touch of the non-pigmented Canmake Micro Loose Powder in 02/03 on the cheekbones & neck area for a shimmery & bright finish.

Fragrances -J. Lo - Glow
rated 1 of 5
BoAlove 12/25/2003 10:00:00 PM

Can I ask J.Lo- does she use this sucky, cheap & absolutely faint & nausea -worthy scent that smells like *not worth describing it* For your sake, just try any other scent on the market (I especially prefer Flower by Kenzo-- so uplifting), nothing can be worse than this! How can it sell? Only thing I like was the clean, curvy bottle. (0[]0)

Eye Shadow -Canmake - Eye-Shadow
rated 4 of 5
BoAlove 12/18/2003 10:13:00 PM

Got this shadow in a pretty brown & baby pink duo. It went on smoothly, and stayed on long enough, with a silky texture. Pretty pigmented too, & the colours make you look so sweet and cute! Much better than many other drugstore eyeshadows, but also more expensive too for the same amount, and without an applicator too. But still a good buy, really! Check out www.canmake.com for more information (its in Japanese, but just click on the 'ENGLISH' button on the left-hand side & read away!)

Toners -Za - Energex Lotion
rated 3 of 5
BoAlove 12/8/2003 7:10:00 AM

I love & hate this product. GOOD POINTS- It moistures my normal to oily skin well, but I don't think it is suitable for dry skins. Great for horribly oily skins though. Acts more like a toner than a moisturizer. Use the rich Energex Cream instead. I like to use this after washing my face, but always alternate it with my Za Whitening Emulsion, which moisturizes better. Also, leaves my skin smooth & soft, and there was hardly any oilliness on my face even after 4-5 hours after application! Hardly need an oil blotter (must be the Vitamin B inside this stuff.)Only suffered from the occasional spots after using this product for some time. BAD POINTS- HELP! this is REALLY bad! I don't konw why, but after application, blackheads started popping out on my nose (& there were no blackheads on my nose to begin with)! I suspect it must be the shockingly high alcohol content, for the same problem persisted even after switching cleansers. Nothing like that happened to the other parts of my face. Weird!

Misc Beauty Tools -Clean & Clear - Oil Absorbing Sheets
rated 4 of 5
BoAlove 12/4/2003 10:46:00 AM

This litle gem sucked up oil & even sweat from my face quickly & efficiently, with no residue. I took one lippie fown though as other brands were just as good aka nothing special about it. I am now using fasio's blotting sheets (which sucks up gunk just as effectively, has a bigger surface area and a more silky & foldable texture which makes it v.easy to reach every single part of the face, but will repurchase C & C soon

Deodorants -Nivea - Deodorant
rated 4 of 5
BoAlove 12/4/2003 10:37:00 AM

I got this in 'Whitening', which promises to lighten your underarms while offering protection. It subtlely lightened my fairly dark underarms after a week, but will have to use it longer. The fresh, caring scent lasted for at least 10 hours. Great, but the only complaint I had was that I didn't remain totally dry- still sweated from the underarms, but at least no odour.

Lip Gloss -Za - Two-Duo Lip Gloss (all shades)
rated 2 of 5
BoAlove 12/3/2003 9:26:00 AM

I felt cheated after buying this product- imagine paying SGD13 for such quality! I bought this in orange without considering for I had run out of lip gloss & had to attend a major party in 2 hours. I regretted it all right, making such a careless choice- it was too sticky for my liking and stuck onto my lips & finger like gum. It was also hell to blend- had to keep moving my finger all over my lips and ended up with more gloos on my finger than on my lips. The packaging sucked- the gloss leaked out all over my bag. Hardly lasted long, had to reapply again an hour later. It looked okay when worn over lipstick though (but for all that trouble I went through?). You want cheaper+ better glosses? Stick with Etude, Maybelline & Canmake(my top 3 picks!)

Cleansers -Biore - Milk Moisture
rated 4 of 5
BoAlove 12/1/2003 1:43:00 AM

I totally agree with sencha83. I have normal to oily skin, & this cleanser was great- it didn't dry skin during cleansing and still managed to remove oil & dirt. Skin feels moisturized after cleansing with no oily/sticky film or residue, so there was hardly any need to put on a moisturizer (Dry skins may need to, however)

Lips -Nivea - Lip Care
rated 4 of 5
BoAlove 11/30/2003 9:12:00 AM

I received the Vitamin Power lip treatment in late november from a cousin, & was I greatful. It had a delicious fruity smell- kind of like fruity candy but wasn't too artificial tasting or smelling (smelt closest to overipe summer peaches and strawberries.) Its enriched formula drenched my lips luxuriously, and kept them silky smooth & moisturized for hours. Great for those with dry (but not chapped) lips with deep lines. There is no need for daily use- thrice a week will do. Also own Repair, a formula that goes on my lips milky-smooth, & puts the chapping & dryness under control.

Concealers -Wet 'n' Wild - Coverall Stick
rated 3 of 5
BoAlove 11/21/2003 10:40:00 PM

I gave it 3 lippies, because it moisturizes my eye area, blends quite well & covers up my dark undereye area. However,IT didn't do anything for my zits at all- made them even more obvious (in the form of a skin coloured bump), despite proper application. Cover redness well though, but IS NOT TO BE USED as a highlighter. Good for eyecircles though, but I recommend you try Maybelline, Canmake or Shu Uemera instead. You pay more, but get much more \(*o*)/
