Treatments -RoC - MAX Wrinkle Resurfacing System
Blplunk 2/13/2013 9:22:00 PM
I have only used this product a few times over the last week. This is a two step system you put on before bed. The first is the MAX anti wrinkle treatment with retionol, which is followed by the resurfacing serum. I have not been using it long enough to rate the anti aging properties, but I will say my face feels like satin when I use this. I'm giving it 4 lippies right now just based on that. I will update my review when I've been using it longer and can judge actual improvement in my skins appearance. If it helps in that area too I will bump it to 5! So far I've had no adverse reactions ie burning, stinging. :)

Tools -Sephora - Glass Nail File
Blplunk 12/15/2012 5:51:00 PM
I just bought this and have only used it once so far so this is based on that, but I really like it. It left the edges of my nails nice and smooth. I have fairly strong nails, but have always had a problem with peeling. I was starting to think maybe it was my nail file causing a break at the nail edge allowing water to get in and then peeling. I'm hoping a smoother edge will stop this. Mine came a nice case to keep it safe in my purse. I will update later and let you know how the peeling goes... But so far it's a keeper!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Volume Exact Waterproof
Blplunk 2/22/2012 2:04:00 PM
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet. I used this for years before branching out and trying new products with good reviews on MUA. I pulled this back out of my makeup drawer this morning after months of using the others and I can't for the life of me remember why I was even looking for something different! I have naturally long lashes, but this mascara just makes them look so perfect. It's a true black, seperates my lashes, doesn't smudge or flake on me and keeps my curl all day. I was starting to think I was getting dark under eye circles, now I realize it was just smuding from the other mascaras I was trying. I will never stray again. Welcome back old friend!!

Foundations -Tarte - Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full-Coverage Foundation SPF 15
Blplunk 2/14/2012 11:14:00 AM
I recently bought this after liking the sample I got at sephora. Always been and ELDW girl, but as I age my skin has gotten dry. I compare the coverage on this as equal to my DW. but not nearly as drying. Dries to more of a satin finish rather than matte I was able to find a decent color match in Light, which is still a bit yellow when I first apply, but blends well and actually matches better than my DW did once blended. I have been applying with my fingers as I find this gives me the best result. It's a little pricey, but I get almost twice as much product for a few dollars more. I wouldn't call this full coverage, more medium. I don't find it settling into my laugh lines or undereyes, but if you have sun spots you will still need concealer. I will update when I've been using it longer, but right now I'm thinking I may have found my new HG. Let's hope it continues this way :) *UPDATE 2/22/12* Started noticing small dry, flakey spots on my face today that are way exaggerated by this foundation. I was told it was moisturizing, while it's not a drying foundation to me, it's not moisturizing enough. I guess my hunt for a moisturizing foundation with decent coverage continues :-/ I still think this is a nice foundation, so I will leave my rating the same, but would not repurchase.

Liquid -Sephora - Perfecting Cover Foundation
Blplunk 1/22/2012 7:51:00 PM
I'm surprised by the number of good reviews on this. I rarely write negative reviews, but I could NOT get this to work for me. I bought this today at Sephora looking for a cheaper full coverage foundation. When I got home I tried applying it several different ways and it just never ended up looking good. I tried fingers, beauty blender, and sephora #55 brush. I actually have my skin feeling pretty rough from washing my face so much tonight. Back to my HG EL double wear tomorrow. So wanted to love it, just didn't.

Moisturizers -Garnier - Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Sun-Damage Moisture Lotion SPF 28
Blplunk 1/22/2012 7:23:00 PM
I have been using this now for a couple of months. I really like it. I'm a huge fan of citrus scents in general, so the scent really doesn't bother me. This actually makes my skin feel like butter and works very well under my foundation. I also use the moisture rescue cleanser by Garnier which I also love. I tend to have very dry skin in the winter and as my HG foundation is EL's double wear I need heavy moisture under my makeup. If you have oily skin better skip on this one. Great for dry/normal skin. I have noticed "slight" improvement in my sun spots, but nothing drastic yet. I may try using this as my nightitme moisturizer as well as my derm said the sunscreen wouldn't hurt anything overnight. I like the higher SPF factor as well. I will continue to buy this until they discontinue it. (hoping they dont)

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Complete Salon Manicure - Clear'd for Takeoff
Blplunk 10/19/2011 3:53:00 PM
This stuff is the bomb! The brush is wider & covers my whole thumb nail in 2 swipes. Does not bubble or streak. I have on right now just as a shine to my natural nails and haven't tried as a topcoat over polish yet, but having used the color polishes in this line as well I don't forsee any problems! It's a little pricey for a drug store polish, but worth it in my opinion :)

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Reversa UV Anti-Spot Lightening Cream
Blplunk 10/13/2011 12:29:00 PM
I've been using this cream for about a month now. While I don't expect a Glycolic to lighten my spots my skin is much smoother and redness is diminished. I would have to use a skin bleach to really lighten my spots. But having used Retin A first, I prefer this glycolic for exfoliation. I have had no dryness or irritation from this product. I would buy it again. I love the texture of the cream and the pump is nice, but a full pump is too much. Really only need half a pump to do my whole face. I think given 6 months - a hear as you're supposed to for full results this will work well for me. I will continue to buy :)

Liquid -L'Oreal - Visible Lift Smooth Absolute
Blplunk 10/11/2011 12:08:00 PM
For the reviewer below that asked, I bought the brush version today and had been using the pump version. I like them both. I think the brush version is a little more moisturizing and gives a more dewey finish than the pump version. The pump for me was more of a satin finish as I have dry skin. I think between the two I woukd buy the brush version again first. The brush is nice, but I still blend with my fingers after applying. Haven't worn this one long enough to say about the smoothing properties, but I will update on that later. I like the coverage and it feels like you're not even wearing foundation which I like. Can't wait for the concealer to hit store shelves. Walgreens didn't have it yet :(

Liquid -L'Oreal - Visible Lift Serum Absolute Advanced Age-Reversing Makeup
Blplunk 9/16/2011 11:41:00 AM
After Clinque mucked up the Repairwear I was forced to find a new foundation. I read some reviews on this product and decided for half the price it was worth a try. I have to say I am VERY impressed!! I think I even like it better than my Clinque. The girls in the office asked me right away this morning what I was wearing. This may end up being an HG for me. It's very light weight, but still delivers medium coverage for me. I've seen reviews calling this a dewey finish, I guess it depends on ur skin type, but for my dry skin this is more of a satin finish, but not too matte like my ELDW was. After years of spending $30+ for foundation I never thought I would go back to a DS brand, but L'oreal has a winner in this formula. Let's hope they leave it alone!! Try this, at this price it's worth a shot. Hopefully you'll be just as suprised as I was for $15. :) *update* 9/27/11- I have been using this for a few weeks now and still LOVE it! I have found it also applies nicely with a foundation brush ( I have one from Revlon that works well with this) I have had NO breakouts, and actually even noticed the few stray pimples I usually get go away faster. :)

Lip Treatments -Palmers - Cocoa Butter Dark Chocolate & Peppermint Lip Butter
Blplunk 9/15/2011 7:04:00 PM
I really like this lip balm. I have a bit of OCD and tend to pick at my lips when they get chapped, making them 10 times worse than they were, almost to the point where they get callused to protect themselves from me. This lip balm in combination with keeping my hands off finally healed my poor lips! I LOVE the smell of this. It's a shame it doesn't taste like chocolate too. It really has no taste at all that I can tell. It goes on very slick and adds some shine. I feel like this really moisturized my lips and considering I still catch myself with my hands on my lips it lasts fairly well. I literally have 7 different balms/treatments in my purse right now. I just emptied them onto my desk to count them. I find myself reaching for this more than any of the following (that were also in my purse) blistex medicated lip ointment blistex five star protection ( I like this one too) Carmex Blistex medicated balm with SPF15 Vaseline lip therapy (also very good as it is the active ingredient in all other lip products) and Lip Medex

Liquid -Clinique - Repairwear foundation [DISCONTINUED]
Blplunk 7/20/2011 12:47:00 PM
I have been wearing EL's Double wear for the last 2-3yrs, but lately it seemed to be really drying my skin out. Perhaps my skin is just becoming drier as I move up in the age brackets, but this sent me on a quest to find a foundation that covered as well without drying me out. After reading reviews on the Repairwear I picked up a sample and was pleased enough to buy a bottle. Yesterday was my first day wearing it and my husband actually noticed!! I was floored! He always compliments me when we're dressed up to go out, but it's the first time in a LONG time he complimented my everyday work makeup! He liked that my face wasn't as matte looking as it was with the double wear. I like the coverage & consistency of the formula, still playing with the best application method. Yesterday was just fingers, today tried my beauty blender with it, but goes on too thick that way. Tomorrow may try a brush, but right now fingers is looking like the way to go! Also doesn't settle into my fine lines the way my DW did. I hear they're going to be "improving" the formula soon. Let's just hope they don't muck it up! Right now it's a keeper! *edit* Well apparently they mucked it up! I am so bummed! On a quest to find yet another foundation my skin can tolerate... The new 'improved" formula from what I read on their website is horrible. Not even gonna bother trying it. Was great while it lasted...

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Mia
Blplunk 5/22/2011 1:25:00 PM
My wonderful husband and kids got me a Mia for Mother's Day this year. I have used it nightly since and I love it!! I did have an inital purging period, which seems to be dying down now. (this could have been from the Retin A too, though I've been on that for about 3 months now) My skin feels silky smooth after using this. I was initally afraid it would make the Retin A absorb more and therefore make it more harsh, so I dropped down to every other night with the Retin A for a week to make sure and worked back up to every night. I use my Mia with the Garnier Moisture Rescue cleanser which is quickly becoming and HG for me as well. I had previously purchased the Olay Pro X brush and I liked it as well, but it really doesn't compare to the Mia. I know a lot of people said it was a dupe, but this is another testimate to "you get what you pay for. " I remove my make up first by washing by hand and then wash again with the Mia. I feel the texture of my skin has improved greatly in the last few weeks, if you're on the fence you should really give this a try!

Cleansers -Garnier - Moisture Rescue Fresh Cleansing Foam
Blplunk 5/19/2011 4:56:00 PM
This may just end up being my HG cleanser!! Thanks to Retin A for sun damage my skin had been REALLY dry & flaking, but the other moisturizing cleansers I tried were no match for my EL Double wear foundation (my other HG). This gets my makeup off, and doesn't make my face feel like the Sahara! It is still somewhat dry & I still need moisturizer obviously, but this is a huge step! Also I have to add this is the first cleanser I have bought in a LONG time that does not leave a film of any kind on my face & rinses clean!! I have also used this with my Clarisonic with good results. I hope this helps someone, this product is certainly helping me!

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Maximum Coverage Foundation
Blplunk 5/9/2011 2:08:00 PM
I don't see how anyone can use this as a foundation, way too cakey & thick and settles into fine lines making them look deeper. That being said... This is my HG concealer for imperfections, I would not dare use this under my eyes but for all other skin imperfections it is AWESOME. I have several hyperpigmentations and large freckles and this hides them like a dream. I dab this where I need it over my Double Wear foundation by EL and it's fabulous! Final conclusion- great concealer, not so great as foundation! I like the tube packaging, and since I only use as concealer this tube will last me a LONG time, so price evens out in the long run :)
