Moisturizers -The Body Shop - Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream

My skin is more oily than dry, but in winter or thereabouts i require something with just that little more moisture. This cream seems to be doing a fantastic job of keeping excess oiliness at bay during the entire day as well as providing a pleasant, nourishing feeling when i apply it in the morning, It's texture is both soft and creamy as well as gel-like. It distributes across the skin easily and evenly, absorbing quickly. My skin feels perfectly comfortable and ready for makeup/suncream which subsequently becomes much easier to apply. UPDATE: Three weeks later, the cream still does a decent job of keeping moisture in my skin but perhaps not enough, as my skin seems to be producing more oil to compensate resulting in a slight sheen by the end of an eight hour period. I am now giving Olay Complete a go. Much cheaper too. Cheers!

Loose Powders -L'Oreal - Translucide

Great loose powder, lasts the entire day and gives the face a nice glow. I dont use the puff provided, i use a micro-fibre powder brush. Very happy with the results- obviously having dark skin means i chose the appropriate colour powder and so far as long as i use the correct base liquid foundation i am stoked with the results.

Liquid -Guerlain - Parure Extreme

Best foundation ever. I knew instantly when i felt it's texture and saw waterproof on the label- this is unlike any other foundation i have ever used. Not only is it a dream to apply but it is like a second skin and one of the rare brands in which i found my perfect match! The price tag is high but for the benefits and the massive bottle which could well last you a year, it's worth it for beautiful skin. Highly recommend.

Treatments -Clinique - Total Turnaround Oil Free

Wicked product, totally saved my skin at a time when my acne was absolutely killing me. I think i have this product to thank for curing my problem skin and giving me a great skin texture and complexion, i would receive complements when i was using this product. The only reason i stopped using it was because the dollars were big :( It came to a point where i could not justify spending $70 aud on a serum every month. Was a loyal buyer as i saw it as my saviour :)

Moisturizers -Nivea - Oxygen Power Reviving Night Care

Not what i would call a super-moisturising product but i think it is appropriately regenerating for my young skin. I wake up with a fresher complexion and given time i think it will work very well. I do not tone before applying this at night.

Mascara -Bourjois - Yes to Volume No to Clumps
rated 1 of 5
BlissBubble 10/14/2008 8:19:00 AM

Argh, pretty let down. There's no clumps and...no nothing. My lashes looked OKAY, they looked natural and defined and clean. But i am looking for more volume! I have bought Lash Blast by Covergirl. I used to use Volume Glamour Ultra Black but i can't seem to find it in store anymore :(

Mascara -Maybelline - Define A Lash Volume Mascara
rated 1 of 5
BlissBubble 10/14/2008 8:15:00 AM

Yeah pretty crap :( Three coats was like one coat. A positive was that i felt it was better for my lashes as it didnt have a drying effect- the downside of this is that there were no volumising properties at all. Someone with a big fan of lashes already would be quite okay to use something like this but i was very unhappy with the shape and look of how my lashes sat. I have small lashes and so i really need something that actually adds to my lashes. Pretty much all this product does is define your lashes. Common sense will tell you that you can't really have volume with much seperation, anything that is going to thicken your lashes will clump to SOME extent.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Lash Architect Mascara [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
BlissBubble 10/11/2008 4:38:00 AM

I have used this mascara twice in my time on this earth, i absolutely LOVE the false effect this mascara gives my lashes, i do three coats and it lengthens and darkens my lashes so there's max volume- very hot. However unfortunately after about three to four weeks of using the mascara it starts to clump and then my lashes don't look cool at all, It seems the formula does not have a very long shelf life, it says six months on the tube but i can imagine how clumpy it would be at the five to six month mark :( Lets just say the reason i had to give it three lippies rather than five is because for the first three weeks i am absolutely stoked and give it five for what it does, and then after that point it is so clumpy and non-workable i would have to chuck it :(

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse
rated 4 of 5
BlissBubble 10/7/2008 8:01:00 AM

I definitely went through my phase of using this foundation and loving it but after a while i found i had skintone and coverage issues- it was lumpy rather than smooth as time wore on and their tan range was all too dark for my skin, whereas medium was too light. This is nothing new to me with foundations, i struggle to find my shade in any brand hehe... i love the idea of this foundation but given i cannot find the right shade i cannot say i would use it, plus the texture means coverage gets worse over time. No breakouts or dryness on my combination skin, it was fine.

Scrubs -Unlisted Brand - Sense - Rice Bran Polisher
rated 4 of 5
BlissBubble 10/7/2008 7:44:00 AM

I have had problems with other products in the Sense range but this scrub really does the job and agrees with my skin. It's not harsh and i can use it every second or third day if need be. Beautiful experience to use as well, i can literally feel the skin loving ingredients as i scrub :-D

My skin looks pretty nice when i wake up in the morning and i have used the day version of this cream and found it to be quite good in the past however i have found this night cream is causing some breakouts, or it is definitely not helping my skin's texture. :(

Cleansers -Kiehls - Foaming Non-Detergent Washable Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
BlissBubble 10/7/2008 7:31:00 AM

Just so everyone knows, a cleanser is not designed to anything more than clean your skin. We cannot expect it to erase marks or prevent pimples, the only extent a cleanser can prevent breakouts to is that of the normal cleaning process. I'm surprised to hear people disappointed in their skin condition remaining the same... acne is not going to disappear because of a cleanser. Given it only stays on your skin for a minute (if you're lucky) any supposed active ingredients would have NO EFFECT. This particular cleanser has pretty much no active ingredients, it simply cleans your skin. My skin is combination and if i use the wrong products will either be oily, or start of super dry and then subsequently overproduce more oil making me oily again. I found Kiehl's cleanser perfect for balancing my skin's PH which is basically what we need. There is a bit of an art to foaming the stuff and when you have a lot of makeup you'll need a couple of washes with this stuff but it does what it's meant to and i have honestly experienced much better skin since using it- less pimples, less troubles, less oil. Love it. P.S- Dry skins, don't let the creamy texture fool you. There is a milk cleanser in the range which would be more suitable, foaming cleansers are a no-no for sensitive dry skins.

Moisturizers -Nivea - Aqua Sensation
rated 5 of 5
BlissBubble 10/7/2008 7:20:00 AM

Great product! I have combination-oily skin and have struggled to find a moisturiser that does it all for me- this is the one. It leaves my skin more or less matte for most of the day, it hydrates appropriately hence reducing breakouts and overproduction of oil, skin is smoother and clearer after less than a month of using it. I don't remember what made me pick up this gel-cream, im pretty sure it was a mistake- serendipity even ;) but after two years (i have tried other things inbetween as i get restless easily and find it hard to commit to one product for too long) i always come back to Aquasensation simply because it works the best and trust me, i've tried to knock it off the pedestal but can't :) Im sure i will continue to try and use other moisturisers out of curiosity but i know for a fact i will return to this one as long as my skin remains combo-oily. TOP PROD
