Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - Triple Moisture Shower Cream-All scents
rated 5 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 11/28/2010 1:46:00 PM

I have the Secret Wonderland shower cream. This smells divine, like fresh fruit with jasmine, amber, and musk (they say it's strawberries.) Usually I would find a mixture of the last three scents to be disastrous but the fruitiness perfectly balances it out. This lathers up well and moisturizes. I mainly love this because the smell lingers so well. When I step out of the shower, I'm still surrounded by a cloud of Secret Wonderland. When I layer this with lotion, and NOT perfume, it creates a long lasting scent. I can't comment on its ability to clean dirt/oil because I use this in my morning shower.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Vanilla in the Mist
rated 4 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 11/14/2010 1:14:00 PM

When I told the LUSH SA I really like vanilla scents, she suggested I try Rockstar. But I smelled it and it had a strange plasticky scent, so I tried this and instantly fell in love. The vanilla smell is not the least bit candy like, but a real sophisticated vanilla that has a hint of sweetness from maybe coconut or something and a smokier, coffee tone. I could not smelling it! Mmmm. I cut the chunk into about 1" by 1" chunks so it wouldn't melt in the shower and wet it and smooth my hands on my body to clean it. Lush soaps don't really lather, but they clean well but leave the skin soft. Unfortunately the smell doesn't linger, but it is heavenly while it lasts. Would repurchase!

Shampoo -LUSH - Seanik
rated 5 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 11/14/2010 1:09:00 PM

I used to be a hair product junkie and would use a lot of products in my hair, and because of all the styling would become "dry" at the tips, then I would over moisturize, causing scalp irritation, and it was all a vicious cycle. After getting my hair cut I decided to cut down to just a really cleansing shampoo and light conditioner. (LUSH Veganese.) That is where Seanik comes in. It is a gorgeous blue freshly-perfumed bar (although after being trapped, wet, in the container for a while the seaweed makes it start to smell fishy) that has nori seaweed and sea salt and lathers amazingly and cleans without giving me that squeaky clean stripped feeling. My scalp irritation is gone, my hair is smoother and softer than ever. My hair is much more manageable and healthy now. I will repurchase!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 4 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 10/30/2010 4:39:00 PM

This has been super hyped since 2007, I think? I have been meaning to try it for a long time now but have only gotten around to it last week. When I purchase a washable mascara my hopes are very low, and I set myself up for disappointment. (I have stubbornly straight asian lashes) They never hold curl and clump. But I could not deal with the difficult/sometimes time consuming removal of a good WP mascara anymore (even with a cleansing oil.) Lash blast is really the best a washable mascara will get in terms of holding curl. It holds the curl in one coat, but one coat is not that dramatic. When I build it up, it droops but when dry it can easily be re curled. With about 3 coats this stuff gives me my longest and thickest lashes ever. It doesn't smudge at all and flakes a little bit. It is easily removable.

Skincare - Body -LUSH - Mange Too massage bar
rated 5 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 10/17/2010 9:39:00 PM

This massage bar is the best! It smells very sweet, but not in a sickly way. It is a very natural vanilla/chocolate smell with just the smallest hint of mint. All massage bars are sort of oily but they absorb nicely (if you want to matte out the oil you can dust yourself with LUSH dusting powder) and leave super soft and fragrant skin. I would repurchase!

Lip Treatments -C.O. Bigelow - Lemon Lip Cream
rated 5 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 10/3/2010 2:45:00 PM

I am in love with the Bath and Body works lip shines, they are so much fun, wearable, and totally affordable. I have quite a few tubes but I love this one the most. It smells great, like lemon but not too astringent or 'zingy' so it's not like cleaner; it almost smells like a lemon dessert. My favourite scent would be the vanilla one, but I love this for the texture. My lips are really dry and without maintenance they are gross. Most lip glosses are thick and feel super uncomfortable, they don't sink in, etc. This is light and moisturizing and comfortable. It gives a moderate shine and remarkable softness. Love!

Skincare - Body -LUSH - Each Peach Massage Bar
rated 5 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 9/6/2010 4:13:00 PM

My favourite things to use from LUSH are their massage bars. I've never seen anything quite like them. Each Peach, I believe, is their only citrussy/fresh smelling one. The others are warmer scents. Anyways, I love the smell of this! Lime, Orange, and Lemon, but Lemon is the most dominant smell. Massage bars melt between warm hands. I use them as a solid moisturizer and it makes my skin really soft and scented. I didn't find this one to be as oily after application as their other ones. I would definitely recommend!

Lotions/ Creams -Olay - Touch of Sun Body Lotion with sunless tanner
rated 4 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 8/28/2010 3:35:00 PM

I don't know if I'm reviewing the right thing because mine isn't Quench like in the picture, maybe it's the old version? anyways, I have been using this for many years. I like to have a very subtle tan on my body, but I don't like sun damage and a real self tanner is too much work for me. Body lotion with gradual sunless tanner is where it's at. They're easy to use and look even. I use one for lighter skin every day, and I use the medium-deep one when I need some glow ASAP because it gives me a tan that looks like my skin does after a day outdoors in one day. If I build it up any more, it becomes a little too orange/dark. I often get compliments on my "tan" when I use this. Have repurchased!

Lip Treatments -New York Color - Lip Sliders Tinted Lip Balm ] ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 8/26/2010 1:54:00 PM

I bought these because I heard that they were similar in texture/formula to the L'oreal HIP Jelly Balms/MAC tendertones which I love and can't get my hands on anymore. They were about 2 dollars for a ton of product, 9g if I remember correctly? Anyways, they are great! They smell like vanilla, have no shimmer, and are super thick. Very moisturizing. Packaging flimsy, but cute. I got: Sugar Fairy: mauve colour in the pan, almost clear/MLBB on the lips. It is very pretty for everyday pink/cool looks. Sugar Angel: coral red in the pan, on the lips, a warm MLBB-amped-up colour. Sugar Rush: Deep purple plum in the pan, deep pink on the lips. Great for fall and winter. Sugar Coated: The famous dupe for MAC boy bait cremesheen glass. I am biased because I don't like nude lips and this looked white and gross on my lips.

Concealers -Revlon - Age Defying Moisturizing Concealer (New) [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 8/20/2010 4:00:00 PM

I've always heard from people that concealer is the one product you need to look really pretty, fresh, and do your makeup quickly. I guess I have never found the right one, because usually it made me look worse, lol. So I have been walking around all this time with dark circles, and if I had a few break outs, I would wear foundation. My undereye circles are not really blue/green/purple toned or sunken in, because I have monolid asian eyes and they aren't very deep set. Instead, they are kind of pinkish-brown hyper pigmentation, so when I used to use pink toned concealer I just looked grey. Ew! I got this based on the rave reviews. Wow! For only $8, I get a smooth, moisturizing, but full coverage concealer that is the perfect shade. (Light medium matches my NC20 face) I can use this yellow toned shade to lighten my undereyes and even though it is marketed for dark circles, I can cover spots/redness with this too. The thin tip, about 3 millimeters across, is perfect for distributing it onto small spots. It is awesome! For refrence, before I used MAC Studio moisturecover NC20 which didn't really cover much, and L'oreal True Match in 123 Neutral which was really dry, thick, and pink.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst in Fuschia
rated 5 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 8/14/2010 11:01:00 AM

I was given Fuchsia by a friend. The colorburst formula is very creamy and not too matte or glossy, and lasts a good amount of time. I have never really tried a true blue based fuchsia before and I was not disappointed! I lightly built up the layers until I had a candy-pink fuchsia lip for summer. It is gorgeous! Very flattering on my NC20 skin tone. This is one of those products that can wake up and polish your face by itself. I would definitely repurchase!

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Petticoat [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 7/24/2010 11:40:00 AM

This is such a pretty powder! The pink is light rose, and the veining is like a rosy copper colour. The shimmer is smooth but quite large, because this powder isn't too pigmented but when the light catches it it looks very bright raspberry. It is easy to blend. When I wore this I got many compliments on my "glowy" cheeks! The only thing is that the pink isn't that pigmented and when my brush picks up more copper my cheeks look a little blotchy until I blend it out.

Mascara -Sephora - Lash Plumper
rated 5 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 7/19/2010 10:34:00 PM

I am always on the hunt for that perfect mascara. I usually use waterproof because the ability to hold curl is the most important aspect of a mascara for me, and while they keep my lashes dramatic-looking usually they make my lashes crunchy and glued-together looking up close, gross. This mascara holds my curled lashes (probably because it is not too wet and gloopy) and looks soft, and somehow seems to multiply the number of lashes I have and catches inner and outer lashes well. I end up with fluttery, light but long and full lashes, perfect for a daytime look. It flakes a little bit but not enough to bother me, nothing a touch up with a q-tip can't fix. I will repurchase!

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Colour Juice Cherry on Top
rated 4 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 6/28/2010 10:53:00 AM

L'oreal color juice lip glosses are sticky but smooth and smell great, fruity but not overly sweet. The texture is thick and comfortable but I find that they won't "glide" over dry spots, but "drags" over them and so make sure to keep your lips smooth/exfoliate. My favourite type of lipcolours are berry/cherry pink because they look natural but give colour...Cherry on Top definitely delivers! It is cool-toned, I would say, but surprisingly flattering on my NC20 skin. It's a mid tone berry colour, but natural because it's not too bright or pink. I love this!

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal Waterproof
rated 4 of 5
Blackrosesyellow 6/21/2010 1:56:00 PM

I love this mascara! I have used the Maybelline normal volume express before, and it was pretty good. I have also tried lashblast which some people compare this to, and this is a million times better. I have the typical asian lashes and my biggest issue is curl-holding and smudging. Because this is a volumizing mascara with a huge brush I expected clumps, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the definition it gave was pretty clean. The brush is easy to maneuver and held my curl completely. Most waterproof mascaras only hold it for a short amount of time, and still droop it down a little it I build coats. Not this one! My lashes look really long and fluttery with this mascara. It is difficult to take off, but I am willing to go to that trouble for amazing lashes! I got many compliments on my lashes when wearing this, some people even asked if I had falsies/extensions!
