Powder -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Mineral Rich Loose Powder Makeup SPF 12
BigPrimpin 4/14/2013 2:13:00 PM
I love this powder! My color is Intensity 2.0. I usually just swipe this on with a big, fluffy brush vs. the time consuming swirling that's necessary with BE and other minerals. Sometimes I do use the enclosed puff, which delivers more coverage. What I love about the puff (besides it being cute) is that it doesn't hang onto the powder and waste product. It really does all go onto my skin. This goes on so smooth and natural looking that at first, I don't see much difference. When I look in a different mirror, you can't even tell I'm wearing foundation, yet my skin looks smooth, clear, and luminous. I haven't had any oiliness, irritation, or breakouts and the powder does last all day for me. (I have not gotten to wear it in the heat yet.) The jar is so pretty on my vanity. I can see how it would be easy to spill, so be very careful opening and handling. My only complaint is that there is no indication of sunscreen on the box or container of this formula. I believe the previous version did contain it, but I can't find any info that says if this one does. While I'm not crazy about the price, you get 11g and I don't wear it daily. I will definitely repurchase.

Hair Color -John Frieda - Precision Foam Color

Medium Natural Blonde 8N -Hair type & color: Wavy/curly, very fine but not super thin, frizz prone/Natural color: Medium golden blonde with lots of red tones, picks up bright blonde highlights if I'm outside for any length of time.- I recently began getting some silvers (not white, straight silver) and wanted to find something close to my natural color. I have read that using hair color that says Golden will pull red, and Ash can go green or gray (definitely not what I want.) I know two women who have used JFPF and both came out exactly like the color on the box. (One brunette, one very light blonde with no warm tones.) After reading tons of reviews, I was still nervous because it seems that brunettes have an easier time in general coloring their hair (ie. less catastrophes). I chose Medium Natural, figuring I don't want to go too light in case it looks awful and I end up with darker roots. The application was a piece of cake; no mess, great gloves, the smell wasn't too strong, and I only had to wait 20 minutes. Not only am I relieved to not have a disaster on my hands.. I am loving the color! It didn't pull my red tones too far at all, no brassiness and definitely not too cool. The balance of warm and cool tones is just right. It's a medium-to-light *golden* blonde with lots of shine. The conditioner that comes with it is excellent. I left that on for a full 5 minutes. I am so pleased with this product! I paid $11.99 and will happily do so again as that beats $100 at a salon any day. (Grey coverage: Right now, I don't have that much silver hair but it appears to be covered.) *Update: After several washings, this color settled down beautifully. I liked the initial color but the color now is perfect. I think I will go for Light Natural Blonde next time, after all. I would recommend this to anyone looking for something so easy to apply that it's virtually foolproof and good quality. Just be sure to read the instructions. :)

Liquid -MAC - Face and Body Foundation
BigPrimpin 11/29/2012 2:34:00 AM
I tried MAC Face and Body foundation years ago but found it far too watery and sheer for my needs at the time. I recently picked up another sample and, with it, two suggestions that have made a difference: 1. To rub it between my fingers (to warm it) before applying for more coverage. 2. Pat it onto my skin rather than rub it in. The result: a beautiful, glowing, dewy complexion that looks natural. Due to lack of sunscreen, I don't wear it alone unless I'm indoors all day. Instead, I am loving this to add both warmth and a glow to my slightly too pale, longer wearing liquid foundations. I mix it with Estee Lauder Double Wear (Linen) or Revlon ColorStay (Buff)- both of which are a bit too light but the closest to my skin- and end up with a smooth, healthy looking, easy-to-blend, never too matte finish that wears for hours. I'm giving this an overall 4 because of its flexibility and how it increases the quality of other products that I blend it with. Bonus: I like the scent and haven't experienced any breakouts from it so far.

Liquid -Rimmel - Match Perfection
BigPrimpin 3/26/2011 10:02:00 PM
What I like: -spf 15 -pleasant scent -very easy to blend (I use my fingertips) -covers nicely -doesn't look heavy, or too matte -stays put all day -hasn't caused a single blemish! -easy to remove -the finish...which looks more natural than most liquids I have tried* I bought a bottle of Match Perfection in Warm Ivory one week ago and haven't used anything else since. (I am fair: MAC C2/C3, and Warm Ivory fits) The bottle is cute, but I would prefer a pump. *Re: the finish of this liquid, I hate matte/long wearing formulations with their mask-like finish. They never look natural or soft (on me) and tend to emphasize what I want to cover. The problem I often find with non-matte/long wearing liquids is that they slide off half an hour after application. I'm pleased all around with the durability and finish this provides. *Update* I found an even better color match for the colder months in Ivory. Great product for the price.

Foundations -Bare Escentuals - bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation

This is my everyday go-to. I have stopped my search...for now. I've been using BE original in 1GLight for almost 2 years and haven't looked back. I recently purchased my 3rd container & I'm not done with the 2nd one yet, just don't want to run out. Unless I was looking at the wrong thing, it looks like they put a little less in the new containers, but the price is the same.

Powder -Chanel - Double Perfection Compact
BigPrimpin 10/16/2010 11:07:00 PM
The color selection is too limited. When I use self tanner, which is rare, Light Beige is a good match. The rest of the time, not a single shade comes close to matching my complexion. This covers so nicely and has never caused me to break out. It seems to wear all day and makes my skin look velvety. Maybe it's a good thing that I can't find the right color match...it is pricey for an everyday foundation.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear
BigPrimpin 10/16/2010 10:50:00 PM
Liquid foundations rarely look natural on me 2 minutes after I apply them. I have far better luck with powder & minerals in general. That said, for long wear, I'm very pleased with ELDW liquid. It covered everything I wanted to cover without looking thick or mask-like, and never broke out or dried out my skin. Given that it takes me much longer to apply and blend, as well as to wash off this longer wearing formula, I don't reach for it often. It is good stuff though, and I think I would use it more if I hadn't gotten my skin under control (finally) and if I lived in a more humid area.

Powder -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder Makeup
BigPrimpin 10/16/2010 10:40:00 PM
Before trying Double Wear, I used MAC Studio Fix. I found the perfect color in Linen, but recently discovered that I can also pull off Sand (particularly in warmer months). I always apply Double Wear with a soft brush & am done in just a few minutes. While the powder itself is more 'stiff' than Studio fix, it seems I use less of it to cover my entire face. The coverage is build-able, looks natural and stays on ALL day.

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
BigPrimpin 10/16/2010 10:31:00 PM
I've gone through several compacts of Studio Fix as I used this almost exclusively for a few years. It has 3 things going for it in my book: color match, coverage, and convenient compact. I changed skincare about 3 years ago and once my skin cleared up, I didn't need as heavy of coverage. I also noticed that it seemed to "break up" and mottle a little over my face lotion {in said skincare line} and just wasn't wearing as well. I still have a couple of compacts around that I haven't used up & are good to keep on hand for when I need to get ready fast.

Liquid -Rimmel - Renew & Lift
BigPrimpin 10/13/2010 11:10:00 PM
This is one of the best liquid foundations I've tried (comparing it to much higher end liquids) as far as coverage and finish- which is natural IME & close to flawless. While my skin is a little on the oily side and acne prone, I live in an arid climate and dislike matte foundation on myself. This looks softly dewy and wears well. I like the light scent and pump bottle, and it's very affordable. If they would revamp their color choices (the lightest shades are too pink for me, the darker shades are too dark) and add sunscreen, I would probably wear it every day.

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
BigPrimpin 10/13/2010 10:59:00 PM
I bought this in Vanilla because I'm usually in the top 3-4 lightest shades and it looked more yellow toned than Shell. (I'm MAC C2/3 & BE LightG) It was, however, way too light. I bought a second bottle in Nude, and somehow, it's a great match. I have an easy time blending it, it doesn't cake or look heavy yet provides very good coverage, and it stays on all day. I like the spf20 and that it easily washes off. I don't like that if I wear it 3 or more days in a row, it breaks me out. This is the only liquid foundation I reach for anymore, I prefer powder/minerals.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
BigPrimpin 10/13/2010 10:43:00 PM
I tried to like this, but if you simply touch your face, it wipes right off. Too bad, because for the short time I had it on, the finish looked pretty nice. Color match: Ivory was too pale; Nude was ok, but a little too dark.
