Lip Gloss -MAC - My Favorite Pink - Dazzleglass Creme
rated 4 of 5
BeautyTakesTheCake 12/10/2009 5:19:00 PM

Unlike traditional MAC Dazzleglasses these are NOT sticky at all! I really don't mind the sticky thing but it does get annoying when my hair get stuck to my lips repeatedly.Pinks never show up well on me because of my skin color and my pigmented lips but what can I say? I'm always pining away for the perfect pink to come along and sweep me off my feet! I have to say I was really impressed this showed up on me at all. I've nothing on except the Dazzleglass Creme itself. Scrubs -MAC - Volcanic Ash Exfoliator
rated 4 of 5
BeautyTakesTheCake 12/10/2009 3:21:00 PM

This stuff really rocks! It leaves skin so clean and soft. What really sets it apart from other exfoliators is the foaming action. Even though it only foams a little bit, I think foaming makes the exfoliating process feel bubbly. It's a really nice unique feeling. Most other exfoliators just feel like I'm sandpapering my skin. There is a strong smoky smell to this and it seems it's either a love it or hate it type of scent. I personally do not mind the smell, but I'm really super sensitive to smoke - I blame my weak nasal passages. When I use this on my face I have to work fast or else I get a tickle in my throat and feel like coughing. Liquid -Shu Uemura - Face Architect Smoothing Fluid Foundation
rated 4 of 5
BeautyTakesTheCake 12/10/2009 3:12:00 PM

I've put this foundation on a variety of ways and there's just NO WAY to mess it up. I've used only my fingers to dab & smooth it on when I'm in a rush, I've used a sponge applicator to smooth it on, I've stippled it on with the MAC 187, and I've even used the Shu Natural 18 Foundation brush to apply it. However you choose to apply this, it goes on beautifully. It gives medium to medium-full coverage and has a bit of a powdery finish. What I love is that this foundation never cakes and it lasts through an 8 hour day. I don't recall ever needing to touch-up my face with this foundation. I've seem some forums where people say this foundation has oxidized on them and turned orangey. I tested it out and I didn't have a problem with oxidization but I also disagreed with the original shade the SAs picked out for me. They chose #754 for me but it was a bit off - so I self-corrected afterwards. The only real complaint I have is I can "feel" the foundation sitting on my skin as it's drying. Even though it dries fairly quickly, every now and then during the day I get that feeling of The Foundation is ON again. This cleanser was...meh. It's not bad but it really isn't anything special.

Eye Makeup Remover -Christian Dior - Duo Magique
rated 5 of 5
BeautyTakesTheCake 9/25/2009 10:54:00 AM

Great oil-base eye makeup remover. Does not sting. Works great on water-proof mascaras too. Love how the bottle has a small opening so you don't spill/waste any of the product when you're using it. To use, shake the bottle and soak a cotton pad. Hold the soaked cotton pad to your eye for about 5-10 seconds and then wipe away. Repeat if needed.

Masks -Mary Kay - Clarifying Mask Formula 3
rated 4 of 5
BeautyTakesTheCake 9/23/2009 2:17:00 PM

I really like this mask. It's inexpensive and it does what I need it to do - draw out the impurities from my face. I had to deduct 1 lippie because it does dry out and tighten skin. I like to apply to my T-zone only because of this but overall great results and a great price! Primer/ Corrector -Givenchy - Mister Mat
rated 2 of 5
BeautyTakesTheCake 9/23/2009 2:01:00 PM

Received a sample of this at Sephora but was not wowed by it at all. The silicone texture feels heavy when applied felt like I was plastering it on - 2 lippie deduction. It did not glide on as easy as the Body Shop's Vitamin C Skin Boost which I've been using as a primer. Also it made me oily in somewhere between 3-4 hours so another lippie deducted.

Mascara -Giorgio Armani - Eyes to Kill
rated 4 of 5
BeautyTakesTheCake 9/23/2009 1:47:00 PM

Truly weightless mascara - I always forget that I'm wearing mascara with this on. Does not flake even after a 9 hour day and is easily removed. I had to deduct 1 lippie because it does not provide any curl but I can eaisly remedy that by crazy-curling my lashes with my shu curler. Only other gripe is that it can get a bit clumpy during application but I think that's my fault. I've got a knack for clumping mascara so no deductions for user error :) Read more of my reviews at www.beautytakesthecake.blogspot.com

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Face Touch Up Stick
rated 5 of 5
BeautyTakesTheCake 9/23/2009 1:21:00 PM

Great for concealing blemishes. The best way I've found to apply on blemishes and acne scars is apply primer, then lightly dot BB Face Touch Up Stick onto the blemish and if needed blend in the edges. Then I apply SKII Air-Touch Foundation (shade BP-4) on top and it looks flawless. Very creamy but does not clog pores. Stays put all day, none of the product slides off. Small and compact so it's easy to take along. Also 1 stick has lasted me 6months with use 4-5 days per week. There is still about a quarter inch of product left which will probably last me another month. It's a cheap alternative to Cle de Peau's concealer (in Ochre) which is $70 for about the same amount. I'm MAC NC25 and was matched with #4 but I think it's a bit too dark/yellow. I will repurchase in #3 or #3.5 next time. Read more of my reviews at www.beautytakesthecake.blogspot.com

Foundations -SKII - Air Touch Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
BeautyTakesTheCake 9/22/2009 10:55:00 PM

My HG foundation! This works best when I moisturize and prime my skin and apply concealer over blemishes - my skin looks absolutely flawless! I even use it alone on casual days as it improves the "look" of my skin tone. I am a MAC NC25 and I use the shade BP-4 (Beige Pink). Asia counters offer a lot more color choices but not this one - I dunno why. It oxidizes red if it's applied thickly in 1 instance. If I want more coverage it's better to apply a thin layer, let it dry/set and then apply another thin layer. The foundation ONLY adheres to areas with moisture so it will not get on hair or clothes. The color shade shown on the refill packet is actually a see-through window and you can "see" how much of the foundation is left in the package. Although it's hella expensive and looks like a teeny amount, 1 pack with 5-6 day use/week for sheer-medium coverage has lasted me 6 months and there's still about 1/4 of the product left. It could last me another 1-2 months easily. The battery hasn't given out on me yet (bought in April 2009) but I'm worried it may be difficult to replace. Masks -Kose - Medicated Seikisho Whitening Mask
rated 5 of 5
BeautyTakesTheCake 9/22/2009 10:41:00 PM

Love this mask! It's actually black and it's almost like latex skin when it's dried and ready to peel off. You can feel the impurities that get pulled off your skin as you peel this off and it leave skin so soft and smooth. Read more of my reviews at www.beautytakesthecake.blogspot.com

Palettes -NARS - Bridal Palette
rated 5 of 5
BeautyTakesTheCake 9/22/2009 10:35:00 PM

I love this all-in-one palette! It is perfect for travel as it has all the essentials. The only draw back is that you need to take your makeup brushes along to apply the products. The colors are "safe" so for more adventurous beauty addicts out there this may not be dramatic enough. I think it's quite versatile and can easily be used to create different day and night looks. Moisturizers -The Body Shop - Vitamin C Skin Boost
rated 5 of 5
BeautyTakesTheCake 9/22/2009 10:23:00 PM

This was an impulse buy that the SA talked me into when I made a stop at the Body Shop store. Since I've been using it, it's become a staple in my makeup routine. I use it primarily as a primer and the fact that it's choc-full of Vitamin C is just a plus. I'm not sure if there is any effect of this to help with old acne scars, but I'm really loving it as a primer. Just 1-2 pumps is enough for my whole face. I like the gel like texture that is not like thick silicone textured Smashbox primer. The Smashbox primer although effective, feels like it's plugging my pores and causes me to be even more oily and made me breakout. This stuff is great - it is so light-weight and my skin can still breathe but the surface of my skin becomes so silky and smooth. The price is pretty average - not too cheap nor expensive. I like the pump dispenser but I wish the bottle were clear to see much product is left and also if the tube of the pump was flexible so that you can get to the corners to get all of the product. Toners -Caudalie - Beauty Elixir
rated 5 of 5
BeautyTakesTheCake 9/22/2009 9:35:00 PM

I love this product! It's a great hydrating mist and toner - you have to shake it up before you spray though. There is a strong smell but I actually enjoy it and feel the scent wakes me up. I love taking the smaller size for travel to mist on after a long flight. I took 1 lippie away from the packaging because I wish they would not put this in a heavy glass bottle. I think the glass is really thick because just 1 or 2 pumps depletes the amount in the bottle quite noticeably. Read more of my reviews at www.beautytakesthecake.blogspot.com

Masks -Kinerase - Kinerase Clear Skin Regulating Mask
rated 4 of 5
BeautyTakesTheCake 9/22/2009 9:31:00 PM

I received a sample of this and I really liked this product. I used to have very oily/acne prone skin as a teen and this would have been fantastic then. The mask REALLY draws out all the sebum from your skin but for me it was too drying and I had to apply moisturizer like crazy. I deducted 1 lippie because it is quite expensive but if you have oily/acne skin, I think this product is worth a try. Read more of my reviews at www.beautytakesthecake.blogspot.com
