Moisturizers -L'Oreal - Youth Code Dark Spot SPF 30 Day Cream
Beauty2Behold 2/22/2013 3:56:00 PM
I thought it was very necessary that I wrote a review on this cream! This has been my go-to day cream for over a year now and I have to say that I am absolutely in love with it. I'm normally not too into L'Oreal products in general, however I liked what this product was meant to do; Illuminate the skin, while keeping it hydrated and protected with SPF 30, all the while lightening dark spots and giving a youthful appearance. That was just what I needed. I have to say that this product does what it claims. I love the way it makes my red/blotchy acne prone skin look even and luminous immediately after application. My skin feels plump and healthy. I went on a trip to Mexico for a week last year and decided to use only a sunscreen for moisturizer as opposed to this which was my everyday face cream. When I came back home, I noticed a HUGE difference in my skin's appearance, it looked patchy, aged, dehydrated and most of all, my dark spots were ten times worse (which does all happen because of being in such extreme tropical weather). I immediately went back to this cream and it evened out my skin tone within a week of daily use and quickly faded any new dark spots! I have tried the other L'Oreal youth code day creams and this one I found to be the best as it DOES lighten dark spots with persistent use and does not break me out which is a HUGE plus for my acne-prone skin. I will continue to use this until I find something even better and have recommended it to my sisters as well. After a year I'm still using this every single morning and now night as well.

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
Beauty2Behold 1/10/2013 2:27:00 PM
I wore this primer non-stop for a full week under my eyeshadow and it was top notch, I'd say equal to Urban Decay's Primer Potion. However for the whole week that I wore it, my eyes were unbearably ITCHY! I thought maybe it was the eyeshadows I was using, also Too Faced from the Sweet Indulgences palette, however I tried them the following week with my UD primer and my eyes weren't itchy at ALL. I know it was this, as soon as I stopped using it, the itchyness went away. It was a great primer, but obviously something in it caused an allergy, maybe the Talc? Not sure :( Gave it to my sister, she had no problem.

Liquid -Maybelline - SuperStay Makeup - New Version
Beauty2Behold 8/27/2012 5:43:00 PM
First off, let me start by describing my skin type; I have extremely oily skin with very large pores and acne/blemish/whitehead prone. I have redness in my cheeks and T-zone, and also have freckles that tend to look more like acne scarring. So, all in all, I have terrible skin, not to mention ingrown hairs in my upper lip area that keep coming back no matter how much I try. I decided to check Jean-Coutu for the new Maybelline SuperStay 24hour foundation, because if anything could withstand the oil in my skin, it would be something designed for 24hour wear. WRONG! Well, the SuperStay foundation was a huge disappointment for me. The packaging for this isn't bad, it comes in a nice heavy duty glass bottle (just like Revlon Colorstay) and it has a screw-cap which I like. My HD MUFE foundation lid broke because it kept popping off onto the floor. Although no pump for this which means product being wasted and possible sanitary issues. Pretty standard for most drugstore foundations. The color options seemed pretty decent, although the only option for us paler girls was porcelain Ivory Light 10 which is what I chose. This shade is far too dark for me by about 1 or 2 shades. When I first applied it (using my hands), It felt very moisturizing and smooth, and I noticed it didn't cling to any dry patches at all. I applied it over my Lancaster mattifying sunscreen and Revlon photoready primer (which works wonders for me). This was a shock to me because as a foundation being advertized for long wear, I expected it to be hard to blend, and drying. It blended quite well and I was satisfied after the initial application. Coverage wasn't bad either, but again, it was too dark for my light ivory skin tone. I evened out the tone with my lighter pressed powder by Covergirl in 110 Ivory, (this I have been using religiously for about 10 years now). After this, I topped it off with my usual UD eye makeup, Nars blush and bronzer. Everything looked okay, but already I could tell that my pores looked a little accentuated (even after using a buffing brush in my T-zone). By the time I left my apartment and got to my bus stop (approx 45 minutes after applying my makeup), I checked my compact mirror to see how everything looked in the sunlight. My skin looked SO OILY already! Usually it takes another 2 hours for me to notice oil peeking through my makeup, so I thought this was strange. The whole reason for me trying this product was for it's longevity qualities. By the end of my workday, the makeup did not last at all, it got blotchy and oxidized bad! My T-zone virtually melted the makeup off, even after blotting all day. I feel like this foundation is suitable for normal to dryer skinned people who want their makeup to last all day. Although it's advertized as being a 'Super Stay' foundation, it definitely cannot combat oil and is meant to only combat sweat and heat. It's hard to explain, but I feel like it would have worked well if I wasn't so oily, because the spots where I don't get oily stayed perfect and the makeup only moved around the pores in my T-zone. All in all, not impressed with this foundation, My makeup did not last, even after applying a primer. I felt cakey and gross by the end of the day with patches of orange around my T-zone. I'll be going back to my BB cream until I find something that works *Sigh*.

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Fit Me

I purchased this product because it had a very good color match for my skin. I'm very pale and usually have a hard time finding makeup that blends well with my skintone. My HG powder compact is still CoverGirl in Ivory. I found this product was way too sparkly to use all over the face. It gave me an ashy appearance. It also accentuated my pores like crazy and made me look even more oily than I usually am. I'm still however going to give the product 3 lippies because the packaging is great, I love the flip mirror, it blends well and works excellent as a highlighter. In fact, I use this regularly as my highlight on top of my CoverGirl powder.

Foundations -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector Daily All-In-One
Beauty2Behold 5/14/2012 11:25:00 AM
I had to write a review on this! I'm actually very impressed with this product, more so than I thought I would be after reading the reviews. My skin is very sensitive, acne-prone and very oily. I was looking for a good skin base that didn't break me out, gave a medium to light coverage and lasted throughout the day. Because my skin is so oily, makeup tends to cake off at noon if applied around 6 AM. I applied the Garnier BB Cream in Light-Medium (which is a bit too dark for my complexion), but as it settled, it seemed to match better. I applied it over my spf face cream and Revlon ColorStay primer and MAN, it gave me an almost flawless finish and looks incredibly natural! It illuminated my face a tad as well, which is a bonus. I really like this product because it's not too heavy on my face and behaves like a better version of a tinted moisturizer. I previously have used MAC's moisture tint in light, which worked well but didn't blend as well as Garnier's BB cream (which I was not expecting from a drugstore product!) Once set with powder, it really stays put and looks much more natural than foundation. So overall, I'm quite happy with this product, and until I purchase and try the Asian Dr. Jart BB Cream, I'll continue to keep this in my daily routine. For oily skin, If combined with a long-lasting matte face primer and face powder, this product really works wonders.

Primer/ Corrector -Revlon - PhotoReady Perfecting Primer (color 001)
Beauty2Behold 4/10/2012 4:36:00 PM
I had to write my own review on this product, it really does a lot for me. First I should clarify that my skin is an acne-prone, large-pore, oil-producing MESS. It's also very fair and sensitive so it takes a lot of work to make it look good. I have tried multiple primers before, including the MakeupForever HD primer but I can safely say this one is the best I've tried so far in regards to keeping my skin matte for the most of the day. I usually blot my face between 5-6 times a day. When I use this primer, I notice it has reduced the shine and pores on my face considerably and I blot a lot less. I also notice I no longer need to use a pore-perfecting balm/serum anymore when I use this primer, it has it built in! The finish is matte and silky as opposed to being very liquidy and shiny and my foundation stays put and blends really nicely. It also does not make me break out. For a drugstore product, I am really impressed. Cons: -The price for me is a little steep however, $18.99 CAD at my pharmacy. -The clear cap cracked on my second week of using the product because it kept popping off and landing on the floor. -When I was down to my last bit of product, the pump no longer allowed for any product to come out even though it looked as though there was still a bit of usage from it. Either way, I am so happy with this face primer, I am on my second bottle of it. It is the only primer I have found that is able to withstand my oily skin during an 8-hour work day.
