Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Blending Brush
rated 5 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 3/10/2013 7:07:00 PM

This brush has eluded me for about 2 1/2 years, I really wanted and hunted for this brush when I got serious about my makeup a few years back and first started building up my kit/brush collection. I saw it used in almost every YouTube tutorial, so I made it a point to keep my eyes open for it when at Target. I didn't want to pay a higher price by ordering online when everyone else was getting it for a dollar so I decided against buying online, plus unless I know and trust the brand I like to buy brushes in person. I eventually forgot about it and got so tired of cheap drugstore low quality brush sets and singles and not being able to find a DS blending brush for the life of me, that I purchased a 12 piece professional eye and face brush set + some extra brushes and other stuff from Sigma. Here I am 32 brushes later and I happen across this brush the other day at Food4Less :/ Figures this whole time I was looking at Target where they're supposed to be exclusive in carrying the whole ELF line :/ I have never seen this brush anywhere in real life so I knew this might be my only chance :D I compared brushes in store and picked which one looked best to me :) I doesn't look like any of the other blending brushes I own, its very small and crease brush looking instead of full fluffy tapered blending brush looking, I have only used it once so far but I can tell it's gonna be a favorite that I reach for everyday ,this brush is awesome. I have large eyes with alot of lid space and this brush works to pick up a good amount of color and pack it into the crease as well as blend it out beautifully. It did shed a little on first wash, and about four fibers when actually used, which is to be expected, it' did cost one dollar :/ other then that no problem. I hated the eye shadow shading brush from this same white handle line, but love, love, love this one and will run to Food4Less to buy a few backups soon. I guess good things really do come to those who wait ;)

Eye Primer -E.L.F. - Eyelid Primer
rated 5 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 9/18/2012 6:06:00 PM

This is a really good product by ELF one of they're best in my opinion, I spend alot of time applying, blending, and perfecting my eye makeup and once it's on there it better stay put through my sometimes 10+ hrs of wear, if you think about it eyelid primer might just be the most important product you put on your face/it's the base of all your beautiful es colors :) I picked this up @ Target when looking for my usual eyelid primer/Loreal Decrease, I didn't see it and since I've seen this around for some time for a dollar I decided to try it, I thought I might like it better than Loreal Decrease, and I do :) The formula applies creamily and dries to a matte beige/white finish not sheer like the tube suggest not a problem for me. It does not crease and holds up es very well on my oily lids, I will say that it does absolutely nothing for pigmentation/popping es, neither did Decrease so not a factor personally issue solved with a good base. I'm more worried about the crease issue with oily/hooded lids. After a few uses I went back to Target and purchased 5 more tubes :) (I had to go to the same store twice, they were out first time around and I was determined to stock up! :) I do recommend trying before you buy high end brands, you might like it you might not, if you don't it was only $1 :)

Blush -NYX - Mosaic Powder in Truth
rated 5 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 7/9/2012 11:35:00 PM

This is a pretty golden/yellow toned bronzer on my dark skin, I have yellow undertones and this bronzer gives me a light fresh faced sun kissed glow :) it is super pigmented and the first time I applied it just to see the color on I used my Sigma Large angled contour F40, the same brush I use for all bronzer and blush application. The brush picked up too much of the pigmented product, and it came off super shimmery, so much I could see the shimmer chunks :/ it also has a hint of metallic, which I like. I used my Ecotools Bambuki/Kabuki finishing brush to buff the color in and knock off a lot of the extra shimmer chunk. The result was beautiful, on me buffed in it isn't an obvious bronzer look, and just enhances the yellow in my skin giving a healthy look :) I also really like that it has different colors of bronze in this one pan so I can create my own color but mixing or using one or two colors to match with the rest of my face for the day. This was an excellent buy from my favorite discount cosmetics store (Cost me ¢70 USD) Love it. I will repurchase, and for 70cents per powder I might just get some for gifts :p I really need so little because of pigmentation that it might be a while. This is one of my first NYX products and I am impressed and looking forward to trying others. Recommend :)

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Finishing Kabuki
rated 5 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 7/9/2012 11:30:00 PM

I brought this brush while browsing for a kabuki in the cosmetic section of my local Wall-mart, even though it looks obviously different from a traditional kabuki I thought I'd give it a try since it looks like a jumbo short handled version of my Sigma Duo Fiber F50, that I use for liquid foundation, blush, bronzer, and setting my face with my loose powder. I originally started using it just to set makeup, then one day decided to try and use less brushes, so I used it with my Revlon Photoready liquid foundation, and I don't know what all the raves are about because this brush sucks to use with liquid foundation!!! I applied a little pump of foundation to the back of my hand to warm it, stippled this brush into it, stippled onto my face and tried to buff/blend the foundation in and it didn't do anything! This is how I use my Sigma Duo Fiber. The white hairs stuck together so bad, it took forever for me to finally get the foundation moving around and buffed into the skin. Its sorta kinda dense but nothing really special for me when it comes to foundation. Good for setting though, doesn't pick up much product. I have so many brushes that I love, so I haven't used this until the other day I used and angled contour for a new uber shimmery bronzer and picked up way to much product, so I used this to buff and knock off a lot of the sparkle. Worked like a charm :) made the cheap bronzer look like an expensive Mac MSF. I will have to try it next for blush. You get a lot of control of the product being applied because of the short handle. Also this thing takes about two days to air dry, and sadly because of the bulkiness of the handle doesn't fit into my Sigma Shape and Dry:( A plus that its super soft and not at all rough or prickly. Hasn't lost a single hair either. I wouldn't repurchase because I really don't use it that much and don't see the pointing of having multiples and its virtually indestructible so I'm not at all worried about it falling apart. I recommend if you are looking for something to blend/buff in powder products quickly, with minimal effort , and beautifully.

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorBurst in 070 Soft Nude [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 6/17/2012 4:19:00 PM

I love Revlon Colorburst/Colorstay lipsticks and glosses!!! And Revlon Colorburst Soft Nude/070 is my HG lipstick, I have a lot of lipsticks and when I say alot I mean more than an average woman should probably have, lol (You fellow makeup addicts know what I mean) . Soft nude is among one of the first nude lipsticks I tried when I just started in makeup. This one has an peachy- pink beige undertone, so it works on my African American med/yellow undertone skin perfectly :) It doesn't give my lips that white dry ashy look, like Nude Attitude did, so not cute. Other reviewers are right when they say it fades/disappears after about 20-30 mins but I am constantly checking/reapplying whatever lipstick and gloss combo in wearing for the day, so it really never gets a chance to fade, no worries there for me :) it is very moisturizing, I layer a balm under and a lipgloss on top anyway. It can be worn for me without a gloss but I like my lips glossy, so with this I wear one of the following three... All Revlon Colorburst glosses: 024 Gold Dust, 004 Pink Ice, 040 Crystal Water, depending on the look. I love the packaging from this line, I think it looks more expensive/HE plus its super cute. I do recommend and will buy again and again, after I finish the one I'm currently using and the one I have in my traincase on standby :)

Palettes -Coastal Scents - 88 Metal Mania Palette
rated 5 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 6/17/2012 4:17:00 PM

I have owned this and the CS 88 Warm palette for about two and a half yrs. now. Purchased through the CS website during a sale (Mother`s day I believe, yeah I buy myself presents don't judge me, lol). I was just getting into makeup and had seen endless tutorials on YouTube using these and had no shadows and now idea where to start, plus these are an amazing deal. So I went over to CoastalScents.com and brought a basic starter kit/combo package, barely $40USD for everything. (Metal mania, warm, 10 blush and some brushes). It was extremely well packaged like others said and nothing broken :) I used to use this everyday religiously for work with the 88 Warm palette for whatever mattes I needed. I started buying more es and up until recently packed these away and didn't use them, then just the other day I pulled them back out and fell in love again. The jewel tone Metallic colors in this palette are to die for, so pretty. I love the perfect mix of neutrals and dark colors so you can get sweet or vampy ;) I've done some amazing smokey eyes with this. I think all of mine are equally pigmented :) although some of the lighter colors are not true to pan, if it looks orange I'll swatch it on the back of my hand and it'll just be basically white shimmer :/ But for the most part all pan color, pigmented, blendable, beautiful. I don't think all these colors are metallic, to me some seem shimmer, frost, satin and of course metallic :) apply wet to bring out the colors/finishes more plus they last longer. Some fallout/slight fading but nothing to cry about. I do recommend and would repurchase but I don't see that being necessary.

Treatments -Garnier - Dark Spot Treatment
rated 5 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 6/14/2012 9:25:00 PM

I first saw this while flipping through a celeb gossip magazine and thought, something new I can try to get rid of my hyper pigmentation/acne marks, I've tried treating them before by using Ponds Clarentb3 face cream and it worked my skin was clear and glowy... for only three days...boo. so the search continued. I brought this in Mexico on one of the many days the dollar was kicking the pesos ass, lol, so it cost me $8 at DAX <3. I thought the tube was kinda small but with this a little goes a long way so you actually get alot. The tube is also a little hard to squeeze because its metal, but if its has to be like that to protect what's inside (like other reviewers noted) then I don't mind. The smell is kinda overpowering at times. This is an awesome moisturizer, isn't greasy and wears lightly. I'm not really acne prone but do have slightly oily skin so from time to time I experience small breakouts. I started using this on 6/03/12 I do see a improvement it my most recent hyperpigmentation spots, also like another reviewer noticed more rapid healing of freshly opened pimples, which is true. I love that this stuff starts healing right upon application to open skin :) it looks like its taking a while on the older spots though. I'm going to come back and do an update in about two or three months, then I can say if I love it or not but so far I like it and its working :) UPDATE: I'm still using this treatment once or twice daily, its been five weeks to the day. And all I can say is... I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! HG moisturizer/hyperpigmentation spot treatment! So glad I tried this before I went and got Philosophy`s Miracle Worker. This stuff works so well and pretty fast too, I could've come back and wrote this update 2 and a half weeks after my first day of using it, that's how fast it works. My skin looks brighter, healthier and I have an overall glow :) Its beautiful. Some of the most recent hyperpigmentation spots are completely gone! Yes gone, like they never even existed! And since I've started using a new face soap I haven't broken out in weeks, so my skin isn't producing new spots that need healing. It is taking a bit longer to get rid of the older spots but they are diminished in size and color, and barely noticeable so I only have a few more to go till I reach perfection :D I really should have taken before and after pictures because the results are amazing! I now have a new found confidence about my skin:) its allmost like its not even my face, lol. I do reccomend and I will be repurchasing once I get low (I have seriously only used about 1/3rd of the tube) now that my skin is just about cleared up I'm going to start the search for an clinical strength anti-aging cream so I can alternate every other day between the two. I can go on and on about this product, if your reading this trying to decide if its worth it or not, I'm telling you it is :)

Concealers -Hard Candy - Glamoflauge Concealer
rated 5 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 6/14/2012 9:18:00 PM

I've been using this for a few months now and I like it for the price but I don't exactly love it :/ I have it in Tan which works with minimal blending. The packaging is nice, liking the squeeze tube. You get a ton of product that will last to the end of time, a little goes a very long way. I use it to cover hyperpigmentation spots and the slight darkness under my eyes, Works great for the latter, no creasing on me and I have a lot of folds under the eyes, just set it right after application with a good powder. Also can be a little drying so moisturize a few mins. Before application well. As for the hyperpigmentation spots, not so well, doesn't completely cover them just tones them down a little, which is really weird because I used it once out of curiosity on my tattoos and they were almost gone, maybe I'm just over blending. The thing I absolutely love is the little concealer pencil it comes with, I use it almost everyday on my waterline and it stays all day :) gives the eyes a lot of brightness and pop. I really wish they would make a full sized one, I love these little things and am terrified of losing them, lol. I will keep using Glamoflauge till I find something better, won't repurchase because I have two tubes, so I'll never in a million years run out :)

Pressed Powders -Hard Candy - Welcome Matte Mattifying Powder
rated 5 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 6/14/2012 9:16:00 PM

This is the perfect mattifying pressed powder compact to carry around in your purse, I'm now on my second one, my first dropped on a cement floor and that was the end of it :( I tried to attempt to keep using what was still left in the pan but since it was all crumbly it just didn't work out. I love the little heart shaped sponge that it comes with, also the "Get ready for your closeup" on the mirror is too cute, except that it rubs off too easily so now its just black smudged lines :( I used to use this to set my face makeup everyday with a kabuki, before I got my HG Elf HD loose setting powder <3. Now I use it for touch ups when I'm out and about and need to check my face/take care of shine. Works great, I will repurchase it I don't find something cheaper and equally as good.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HIP Loose Pigment-Intrepid
rated 5 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 6/14/2012 9:14:00 PM

I think this is the best out of the Loreal Hip pigment line, I own a few of the other pigments and Intrepid is my favorite out of my entire pigment collection :) I think this was actually the first pigment I purchased when I first really started getting into makeup, the color is so unique and beautiful, a little expensive for such a tiny jar though. Mine is half full now, I loved it so much when I first got it that I wore the same Smokey eye (Alternating only crease colors) for like two weeks! So its now half full :/ and I should repurchase and I would but.... I think it was a little expensive for such a little jar and I really want to try Macs Blue brown ,even though I heard its a exact dupe, you get way more product for a few more bucks. Wears well on dark skinned brown eyed girls, stays on all day without creasing or fading on my oily lids.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Felt Blue (Veluxe)
rated 3 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 6/14/2012 9:08:00 PM

This ES has a amazing silky smooth matte texture, I don't think I've ever swatched a shadow softer than Felt blue, however there is a serious lack of staying power. Over a primer/base and applied wet its gone in about two hours or less! What a shame, its such a pretty wearable blue and I would have loved it had it actually lived up to the Mac es hype. I tried this for the first time on my lower lashline for a pop of color to they rest of the eye look I was wearing, and once I got to the door to leave the house for the day I checked my makeup Felt blue was nowhere to be found :( the second time I used it for a simple three es color look allover the lid paired with a black in the outer v, it didn't look too bad at the end of the day but the black had overpowered Felt blue and made it darker a deep blue, which was all right. I wouldn't repurchase again this will probably just sit in my traincase and look pretty or I'll Google different looks and experiment. Can`t recommend because there are DS shadows out there for half the price and better.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Gorgeous Gold (Veluxe Pearl)
rated 3 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 6/14/2012 9:06:00 PM

:( This was one of my first MAC shadows I ever brought and I gotta honestly say...not too impressed, my Wet n Wild shadows are better, sorry Mac snobs but its true, lol. GG kinda ruined Mac for me. I really love the interesting color, a yellow gold with a green shimmer undertone, unique and pretty. However used with a base/primer and it creased like all hell! Never had a shadow crease as bad as this one. I'm gonna try some different ways of wearing it to make it work and hopefully not crease, I heard the creasing has something to do with the finish, I will not repurchase since so much is packed into the pan that I probably won't hit, but will recommend to anyone with dry skin/eyelids or that don't usually have problems with creasing.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Aquadisiac
rated 5 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 6/14/2012 9:02:00 PM

This I love!!! such a pretty mint/aqua color that looks great paired with almost any color, in any placement on the eye. I've had it for about a month now and find myself using it every two or three days, just looks amazing on my dark skin/brwn. eyes. So glad I got a once in a lifetime deal on it otherwise I might have never tried it. Pretty much a DS grab everything I need in one place and go, type of girl, I brought aquadisiac, steamy, gorgeous gold and felt blue all at a yard sale some brand new others swatched, for $1.50US (Gotta <3 Mexico :) I almost had a heart attack when I started looking them over and discovered they were not replicas but the real deal! (I had the girls at Sephora check just to be sure, lol) So keep your eyes open girls/boys' for major steals like this! :D OK story time`s over back to the review, lol. I love the finish, to me its a matte with silver micro glitter. Applies well both wet and dry, the silver glitter does transfer onto the lid and show, no fallout at least for me I use all of my es wet, last and stays true to color all day, most importantly for me and my oily lids anyway...no creasing! Very happy with this color, will repurchase, recommend!

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - 8-pan Palette "Comfort Zone"
rated 5 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 6/11/2012 9:20:00 PM

OMG! I love this little palette! And everything else I've ever tried WNW, lipsticks, bronzers, blushes, other palettes, my go to DS brand beside Loreal, Revlon and ELF. Awesome highend quality at cheap prices, it`s also great that they're so easily accessable I purchased, this around its 2011 release date at Walmart and have been in love ever since :) I own other WNW palettes, Lust Greed Vanity, also in love with those but CZ is my favorite palette from WNW. The palette consist of 8 large square super pigmented packed to the rim shadows, neutral browns and greens, as well as some unexpected pretty neutrals . *No MAC comparisons here as I don't own any MAC colors similar to the palette. * BROWBONE: Both colors a little frosty to be used as a highlight but perfect lid colors L: Beige frost R: Golden greenish taupe (Favorite lid!) EYELID: Also Beautiful! L: Pretty rose gold, soft yet vibrant. R: Yellow green CREASE: L: Bronze/Brown (Eh...undecided gotta try over a dark base but nice :) R: Dark mossy green/black gold micro glitter flecked, perfect for outter V. DEFINER: L: <3 between a blk and dark brown with maroon micro glitter, also perfect for outter V. R: Ahh.... the Infamous MAC Club dupe everyone raves about. I noticed this shade at time of purchase but didn't buy only for it I have 3 or 4 other dupes for Club so I'm not super excited about another, it will just be a while before I run outta Club. I have used it and a lot of the reddish undertone came out on me, which didn't look that great (Other dupes gave more brown/green sheen) I've seen swatches over a blk base and it looks like a winner gonna try that. OVERALL: Absolutely in LOVE, of all the WNW and pro palettes I own this is my most used on a daily basis and my fave, they're so soft creamy and easy to use lasting all day even on hot days, no creasing over a primer! plus the pigmentation is far better than the handful of MAC EShadows I have. Would most def. repurchase, but due to size and pigmentation I think it'll be a while, recommend! HELPFUL SIDENOTE: Since the shadows are very soft and I've heard they break easily I cut a large square out of a cotton pad and keep it closed inside the palette over the ES to pad it, haven't had any problems with breakage and CZ stays on me at all times, try it :) Also tips on back of palette of placement and looks for begginers or lazy days, lol :)

Mascara -Boots - Extravagant Lashes
rated 5 of 5
BeatFaceBeauty 5/20/2012 12:25:00 AM

Brought this mascara with the intention to try something new for my bottom lashes out of curiosity (CG Lashblast volume and False lash diehard) browsing the cosmetic aisles, plus never tried any Boots products before. And I have to say I like it, on the fence about liking it more than CG. I used it on my tops and bottoms to see how it would work. When I first saw the brush I was a little scared, I love huge latex mascara brushes with a bunch of bristles but this one was entirely made up of squares, ??? Upon further investigation I noticed the little bristles in between the squares. It separates and defines lashes, although not individually but rather into groups (think spikes). Worked well, doesn't need to many coats good in one but could be built up without getting all clumpy looking. No weird smell. Last all day. No flaking :) All in all happy with this purchase, would buy again. EDIT: I used this mascara a few times on my bottom lashes and to blend my tops in with my false lashes. I'm more concerned about my bottom lashes though. The brush picks up way too much of the super wet formula and doesn't give me the definition, length or volume of my HG Lashblast volume, instead my lashes get stuck together, making them look like I don't have many. I was gonna start using my Lashblast again but the tube was dried out....:( so I came up with a plan, I washed the brush from my LB and put it inside of the Boots. Now it works way better because I have the brush I love. It fits perfectly and screws on tight. The formula although wet is no problem, the brush comes out covered but I just wipe it off on the sides of the tube. I now get the length, definition and volume I love! Just from changing the brush (Try this or disposable spoolies). I'm glad I tried this before I chucked it, The formula works its just the brush girls!
