Blush -MAC - Dollymix
AsiaChick 6/12/2009 7:04:00 PM
This is a nice cool toned deeper pink blush that's suited for my darker olive skin. I was in love with this when I first got Dollymix since it was my first cool toned blush. I was always matched up with warmed toned blushes by MA's just because I'm Asian and they automatically thought I had yellow toned skin without actually looking at my skin tone (stupid preconceived notions). Now I know they are all wrong for me. Anyhow, since then I've been trying out other cool toned blushes in other lines, as well as MAC. I still think this is a pretty good color. I like that I don't have to be so careful and light handed with this, since it's a sheertone. I might end up buying this again if i run out of the one I've got and MAC still carries it by then.

Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation Matte Formula
AsiaChick 6/12/2009 2:32:00 PM
I wanted to try this out since it's extremely sunny, hot and humid down here in southeast Texas right now. Even though the Original Glow formula is made for dry skin, it makes me look like a grease ball this time of year. So I wanted to see if this will work better for me for summer here. The other day I tried this with EDM's Pick Me Up Bisque concealer dusted on as a primer underneath and it worked out fine with no irritation to my ultra sensitive skin. Now I just tried this formula again today without using a primer and my skin almost immediately reacted after buffing this stuff on. I just washed it off a while ago because I had a small red spot with a soft inflamed bump pop up about an inch or so under my right eye. It was spreading fast. Now I have my baby's Desitin applied on this spot. And the bump and redness is almost gone. I put it on because it has 40 percent zinc oxide which I think is the ingredient in some mineral makeup that keeps my skin from being irritated. I guess if I want to use either this or the Intensive formula I'll have to use one of EDM's concealers or finishing powders that have zinc oxide in them as primers prior to applying either of these bases. Too bad only the O Glow and Semi Matte has this ingredient. But I will still repurchase this because I need something with no glow for the sunny months.

Eye Shadow -Lancome - Garment
AsiaChick 6/11/2009 12:41:00 AM
I've had this e/s for a year now. I'm pretty happy with it since this color is flattering to my cool olive skin, black hair, and black-brown eyes. I don't really have any other blue e/s, so I don't really have anything to compare this. I would say this is a basic matte dark blue for someone with my coloring to wear on a regular basis. I find the texture is pretty good, glides on easily and is very pigmented. If I had to I'd buy this again.

Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - Long handled Kabuki
AsiaChick 6/8/2009 6:53:00 PM
I already have three of these brushes. That's how much I love them! They're soft and fluffy. I didn't know how much I really needed these until I used them for blush. Before these brushes arrived, all my blushes (both EDM and non-EDM) were showing up muddied on top of EDM's foundations. So I wasn't sure if I was gonna like their bases. Well, with the Long Handled Kabuki or Flat Top Brushes all blushes show up the wonderful colors that they are. Whew, I really wanted to like EDM because they're one of the very few cosmetic companies that I know of that make olive foundations. Also, they have a wonderful selection and their prices are so cheap when you order one of their custom kits. The LHK is also good for me to dust on EDM concealers as primers before application of foundation and face powder. This has definitely replaced my MAC 129 for blush and powder. This distributes blush WAY better than I could've imagined anything could; looks more natural. I'm pretty sure I'll get more of these in future orders.

Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - Eye Kabuki Brush
AsiaChick 6/3/2009 6:09:00 PM
This brush is so versatile for me that I've already obtained three of them, and I just found out about Everyday Minerals last month! They work so well at applying and blending out my highlighting and color/neutral shadows in just the fraction of the time it took me to do before. And I LOVE the results so much. It's really easy to go for a more natural everyday look using these brushes. I've never had my e/s so well blended before. It's really easy to over do it with makeup on me. I don't need as much makeup as a lot of others do for anything to show up, so these are perfect for me. But if you're looking to pack the color on, I found that I could do that too. I just dabbed the e/s on with these brushes and blended the edges. And as some of the other reviewers have said, you can use these brushes for applying/buffing in/blending concealer. I never was much for using concealer before, but I thought I'd try one of EDM's concealers (multi-intensive) under the eyes using one of these brushes. To say the least, I was very impressed. I wasn't expecting the results to be that good. The areas under my eyes were brightened up without looking obvious at all. The apparent look of having concealer on others made me shy away from it before. Also, using these eye kabuki brushes are just as amazing used for spot concealment with any of the EDM foundations I'm using. These brushes are so great that I don't think I can write a review that'll do em justice. But you can count on me buying a bunch more!

Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - Eye Blending Brush
AsiaChick 5/28/2009 2:51:00 AM
I hate to be the first reviewer of this brush and give it such a low rating, especially with how much I really love EM's Flat Top, Long Handled Kabuki, and Eye Kabuki brushes. I'm just in love with this line of cosmetics, period. I was so excited to use this brush since I have a MAC brush similar to it and I love that. I thought this could be even better because of all the great reviews over some of EM's other brushes, as mentioned above. I first tried it for applying eyeshadow like I do with my MAC equivalent, but it hardly deposited any color. Then I tried it for blending and it just took off too much shadow. Before I even used it I felt the bristles and thought they were too smooth and stiff to work. Turns out I was right. I wish I had ordered another kind of brush, instead of this one, like one of the Kabuki brushes as part of my Super Custom Kit. Oh well, lessen learned.

Pressed Powders -Real Cosmetics - Dakar
AsiaChick 3/31/2008 9:24:00 PM
I just got this pressed powder today from a seller on Ebay for dirt cheap. I thought it was worth a try. Although the powder is not the best quality out there, it does make up for it with it's undertone in my opinion. Dakar is under the "Olive" category of REAL foundations. It was too dark for me, but I could tell that the undertone was a pretty good match to mine because it didn't turn out red or pink or orange or yellow on me. Every other foundation, whether my value match or not, always shows up it's undertone, which means it doesn't match mine. This is the first time in my life that any foundation or powder I've tried has blended in with my olive undertone. Dakar is the third darkest shade out of the olive toned foundations, so I'm fixing to buy the lightest shade, San Juan, from the REAL web site along with the matching liquid foundation. I really hope this company doesn't go out of business.

Hair Color -Revlon - Colorsilk
AsiaChick 1/14/2008 11:03:00 PM
I had previously tried L'oreal Feria in "Starry Night" to cover my bleached hair, but it washed out after a couple of shampoos. I didn't just use this once, but I gave it a go again. And it still sucked just as much. So I know it wasn't just that the first box was bad. I've also gone to a salon to dye my hair back to black sometime after it was bleached again. It eventually faded to an ugly brassy orange brown. I don't think I'll ever let anyone talk me into bleaching my hair ever again! Well, after I spent a lot of money on that salon coloring, I decided to pick up a couple boxes of Revlon Colorsilk when I came across this line of hair color at Wal-Mart. I didn't use them until two months ago. I can hardly believe it's lasted this long, considering it was only $2.97/box. I figured, "I don't have much to lose trying this." And I'm so glad I did. I haven't had to dye it again till just yesterday cause there was a strip of hair on each side of my face that had faded to a dark brown. But this time I thought I'd tone the metallic blue a bit by getting the regular "Black" shade. I'll let ya'll know how this comes out in the long run. Natural Blue Black is such a beautiful color by the way. My fiancee was a little disappointed that I changed it.

Loose Powders -T. LeClerc - Loose powder in Translucide
AsiaChick 12/13/2007 1:32:00 AM
I have T. LeClerc in Orchidee and absolutely love it. So I decided to buy another two the other day, in Parme and Banane. I got four generous samples along with my order. Translucide was one of them, and I find that it brightens up my complexion. The brightening effect is more subtle than Orchidee, which is fine by me. It would make it more suitable for the daytime. My skin (light olive in the fall/winter now) still shows through, but glows. I attribute this quality to the pink in the powder, as do moisturizers/powders that have pink in it. There's no chalky/white cast against my face in the least bit. If you do not have very oily skin, you might want to moisturize before using this powder. The powder melds almost on contact for me, after using a rich moisturizer for my dry skin.

Moisturizers -St. Ives - Cucumber & Elastin Eye & Face Stress Gel ] [DISCONTINUED]
AsiaChick 11/28/2007 10:39:00 PM
I wouldn't say that this hydrates my skin, but it certainly does cool it down. I think this would be handy during the summer and when my face starts getting irritated. I don't know about this gel diminishing lines or puffiness (since I don't have those problems yet), or even the appearance of stress and fatigue. But this does seem to do a good job at soothing my sensitive skin.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Electro-Lush Lipglass
AsiaChick 8/27/2007 12:22:00 AM
This is a medium mauve that's just about the same color as my lips. It doesn't exactly wow me. Very plain in my opinion, no pearl or any other frills. I'll use it up, but wouldn't wanna buy it again. There's other colors in MAC's gloss line that'll be worth more for my money.

Styling Products -Aussie - Sprunch Spray
AsiaChick 5/17/2006 4:24:00 AM
I've been having to buy hairspray recently since I started using velcro rollers to give me a little curl/wave and volume. So I bought Aussie Mega Styling Spray and while I liked the flexible hold, I thought I might wanna try something with a little more hold. Plus I wanted to see if it really helped with scrunching better than regular hairspray. It's really helped in that department and I'm happy with the results. When most of my curls/waves have gone due to the humid climate here (yes, it doesn't stand up to humidity very well, just like any other hairspray I've used so far), I've noticed this leaves my hair with more volume and texture than normal hairspray. But my hair is still left soft and fairly bouncy as well. This is a definitely winner to me and will buy again.

Styling Products -Sebastian - Shaper Plus Hairspray
AsiaChick 5/12/2006 4:15:00 AM
I just started using hairspray recently because I use velcro rollers to give me the volume I covet, so I don't have much experience with different brands of hairspray yet, other than Big Sexy Hair. That was a disappointment. I bought Shaper Plus because of the good reviews on here and it says on the can that it's supposed hold up all day and it's humidity resistant. So far it's proved to be a flexible hold, letting my hair keep it's bounce. Moreover, it's not heavy and stiff. It doesn't weigh my hair down like the hairspray I mentioned. I don't feel like I really have anything in my hair. Also, I'm very happy that this has done a pretty good job of holding up in humid weather, like in Houston where I live. I'm still going to search and see if I can't find better. Until then, I'm gonna continue using this.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Scunci Self Holding Easy Out Rollers
AsiaChick 5/12/2006 3:59:00 AM
These velcro rollers don't really do as much for me as VELCRO and Goody ones do. The biggest rollers aren't big enough for the lift I need at the roots, as well as the rest of my hair. They're also more expensive than VELCRO and Goody.
