Treatments -Paula's Choice - RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum
rated 5 of 5
Aseretmarie 3/7/2012 5:45:00 PM

This is a quality retinol product with all the bells and whistles, but without the $100 price tag. Paula will not divulge the percentage of retinol it contains, but does say RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum contains an amount of retinol that's greater than our other serums with retinol. All Paula's Choice serums with retinol are formulated with stabilized retinol within the range of what research has shown to be effective for reducing wrinkles, improving skin tone, and building collagen. The range she is talking about is 0.1–1%, so I guess it's somewhere between there. Whatever the percentage is - it is one of the few retinol products I can use consistantly without any irritation. I use it every night with a moisturizer over it. Will definitely repurchase.

Cleansers -Paula's Choice - RESIST- Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
Aseretmarie 5/15/2011 3:04:00 PM

Love this cleanser. The feel is really silky and creamy, not heavy at all. Removed all traces of makeup, even my eye makeup. I rubbed the cleanser directly over my eyes (probably not recommended) and it did not sting at all. I have very dry skin and this cleanser left it feeling cleansed, but not tight. I used 2 pumps total. It is her most expensive cleanser - given the amount you get for your money, but I prefer it over the Skin Recovery cleanser. Definitely worth trying a sample to see if it works for you!

Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Marie Veronique Creme de Jour Tinted SPF 30
rated 5 of 5
Aseretmarie 5/31/2010 6:25:00 PM

Love this organic physical sunscreen. This is probably one of the best sunscreens out there when it comes to "good for you" ingredients. Ingredients: Moisturizing Face Screen, SPF 30 - Light Tint Active ingredient: zinc oxide, 24% Contains non-micronized zinc oxide, a physical sun block that reflects UV rays without releasing wrinkle and cancer-causing free radicals. Camellia sinensis (green & white tea), zinc oxide, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba oil), Prunus armeniaca (apricot kernel oil), Limnanthes alba (meadowfoam seed oil) capric/caprylic triglycerides (fractionated coconut oil), Helianthus annuus (sunflower oil), potassium sorbate, vegetable glycerin, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Elaesis guineensis (red palm oil), Cosmocil CQ*, lecithin, Rubus idaeus (red raspberry seed oil), Hippophae rhamnoides (sea buckthorn oil), Lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) Rosemary oleoresin, xantham gum, Daucus carota (carrot seed) essential oil, Cistus incanus (cistus) essential I have the older packaging which is just a bottle that you pour out. Now I see they changed the packaging slighty (bottle with pump) and it looks much easier to get the right amount out. Its not a lotion or cream, but more of a liquid. I have dry skin so I always use a moisturizer first. I read somewhere that zinc oxide tends to dry out the skin and that must be true because this is suppose to be a moisturizing formula and it's not enough moisture for me. I got the light tint which has a slight pinkish tone. If you have a yellow skin tone it might not blend very well, but for fair skin it works. It's not perfect for me - wish it were more of a lotion/cream, more moisturizing and had a more neutral tone, but I will still buy it again because I haven't found anything better. I like the feel of the chemical sunscreens, but choose not to use them so this is the best option for me. If your interested in trying this you might be able to call and see if you can get a sample size since it is a little expensive. When I ordered mine I requested samples of a couple of their other products and they were nice enough to send me some.

Eye Shadow -Shiseido - Hydro-Powder Eye Shadow H3 Tiger Eye
rated 5 of 5
Aseretmarie 5/21/2010 10:15:00 PM

I love these eyeshadows! They feel cool when you first apply them. Almost like they were refridgerated. It feels refreshing. The application is so much better than most creams, but better wear than most powders. The tiger eye color is a warm golden shimmery copper/brown color. I'm not very good at describing colors, but this one looks beautiful on green or hazel eyes. If you have any gold in your eyes it really draws attention to it. Now I want to try all the Hydro Shadows.

Moisturizers -Skinceuticals - A.G.E. Interrupter
rated 5 of 5
Aseretmarie 11/1/2009 7:39:00 PM

This is one of my favorite anti aging preventative type products. It feels great going on, but I really believe it actually makes my skin better. I work with an esthetician who complimented me on my skin about a month after I started using this. I felt my skin had improved, but it was nice to know someone else noticed a difference. One thing about Skinceutical products is they get peer reviewed - so it's not just someone tooting their own horn. Plus they do extensive research and testing. None of it means anything though if it doesn't translate to improved skin. I did find the professional size for sale on line. It comes it a tube (which I prefer) and is a better value.

Treatments -Skinceuticals - Retexturing Activator
rated 5 of 5
Aseretmarie 9/13/2009 10:31:00 PM

I LOVE this new product. It's a serum that exfoliates and hydrates both in one step. I use it at night under either the AGE Interupter or the Renew night cream. It's very light and absorbs quickly into your skin. Usually when I exfoliate after so many days I end up dryed out and have to use a moisture mask to bring the balance back. I've been using this for over a month and I haven't had one flake! I really feel like my skin looks smoother and softer since I've been using it. It's price isn't that bad either - it retails for $70.00. My skin is very dry, but since it's oil free and really light I think any skin type could use it. If you tend to be sensitive to retinoids its definitely worth a try.

Moisturizers -Skinceuticals - REnew Overnight Cream for normal to Dry skin
rated 5 of 5
Aseretmarie 9/13/2009 10:22:00 PM

Love this night time moisturizer. I use the C & E Ferulic in the morning and at night I use the Retexturizing Activator with the Renew night cream over it. My skin is looking really good - and I have pretty good skin to begin with. Skinceuticals has some of the most researched and reviewed products out there and I think they are top quality. My only complaint is I wish it came in a tube or a airless pump jar.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 in Bamboo Pink
rated 4 of 5
Aseretmarie 4/29/2009 12:42:00 PM

I really like this lip gloss. It's not anything special, but it's one of my favorite neutral MLBB colors. Its a warm pink shimmer, but the color is very subtle so you need to be in the light to really see it. Otherwise it looks shiny, but more like a pinkish clear shimmer. Still it's very pretty and I would repurchase.

Eye Shadow -Paula Dorf - eye color glimmer in silhouette
rated 5 of 5
Aseretmarie 4/19/2009 8:07:00 PM

This is one of my favorite shadows for under the brow. Its a neutral champagne beige with shimmer. It works great to blend the line from the contour color while brightening under the brow. It's almost a creamy color even though its powder. It's not sheer - you can actually get some coverage even though it's a light color. Love it and will repurchase.

Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Kabana - Green Screen
rated 5 of 5
Aseretmarie 3/16/2009 2:52:00 PM

For the past five years or so I've really tried not to use chemical sunscreens. I've read to much about how the chemicals are bad for your skin and can cause free radical damage (Yikes!). Now they're questioning the safety of sunscreens containing nanoparticles of zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. It's so hard to figure out what to use. I've even contemplated not using suncreen at all - well, not really, I'm very blond and would burn within 10 minutes. I researched some "safe" suncreens and so far this is the best one I've found. I bought both of them (tinted and untinted), but have only used the tinted one so far. Will review the other after I try it. I LOVE this suncreen. It's slightly tinted so you don't have to keep rubbing to blend in the white look. I think I'll just use this one on my face and use the other one for my body. It does note that because of the tint it might stain clothes. It's organic and unscented. I have normal to dry skin and I use a serum first and it's not greasy on me. If you have oily skin you might want to apply it directly to your skin. You can feel it on you skin, it is not "super sheer", but if its protecting your skin from the sun that makes sense. I didn't experience any breakouts at all. I even though it felt a little like a makeup primer - my makeup actually went on smoother while using it. You don't get those little balls like with some sunscreens. I will definitely repurchase and tell my friends about it. Here are the ingredients: Green Screen® Organic SPF 22 Sunscreen contains these organic and natural ingredients: 1. 25% Zinc Oxide 2. Eldorado Springs Artesian Water 3. Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil 4. Organic Jojoba Oil 5. Vegetable Glycerin 6. Organic Shea Butter 7. Vegetable Emulsifying Wax 8. Iron Oxide 9. Vegetable Vitamin E Please note that iron oxide is a mineral pigment often used in mineral makeup and may stain clothing! This formula also has a mineral scent due the presence of iron oxide. On their website it lists the retail outlets and on-line retailers. I purchased it directly from them kabanaskincare dot com

Eye Shadow -Almay - Almay Intense i-Color Eye Shadow Play Up Trio for Greens
rated 4 of 5
Aseretmarie 3/3/2009 7:06:00 PM

I normally buy high-end makeup, but every once in a while I try a department store brand. This time I'm glad I did. These are great colors that really do emphasize the green in your eyes. There is a golden shimmer highlighter, a darker burgundy for the crease, and a muted neutral mauvish color for the lid. Went on smoothly and lasted as well as the more expensive brands (used UD PP underneath). I tried the other one for green eyes and thought it sucked - this one is 100 times better!

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Equinoxe glossimer
rated 3 of 5
Aseretmarie 2/16/2009 2:28:00 PM

I have many of the glossimers, but was really disappointed in this one. It is very sheer and almost looks like clear with sparkles on your lips. I like the ones with more pearl to them like Blizzard or Unity. If you like this look (glittery) save your money and just buy a drugstore brand.

Eye Shadow -Laura Mercier - Eye Color- Vanilla Nuts
rated 5 of 5
Aseretmarie 1/6/2009 9:15:00 PM

I really like this eyeshadow. Its a neutral matte creamish color. It goes on great - as most Laura Mercier shadows do. I use it under the brow bone for my highlighter. It has no shimmer, but still helps highlight your brow bone and blend your contour color. It could also be used as a base shade on the lid or all over the eye for a very natural land soft look.

Eye Shadow -BeneFit Cosmetics - Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Get Figgy
rated 4 of 5
Aseretmarie 8/27/2008 1:42:00 PM

This is a cream shadow/liner that is suppose to be creaseless. I don't think I've ever used one of any brand that was 100% creaseless so I don't expect it to be. I does crease eventually, but for me it lasted pretty long. I did use the eyeshadow base by Urban Decay underneath. The color is listed as a frosted heather. It can still be worn as a neutral because the color is fairly muted. I have green eyes and I thought this color was very complimentary. I think it would also look great with blue or hazel eyes. It comes in a little pot that you can apply with your finger or a brush. It goes on smoothly and evenly. It has a slight shimmer, but is not overly frosted. I've worn it with browns and purples - very pretty with both. I liked it enough that I'm going to try it in another color. Worth a try if you don't have really oily eyelids.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - BENEV Vitamin C Gel 20%
rated 5 of 5
Aseretmarie 8/6/2008 1:51:00 PM

I can't believe no one has reviewed any of the Benev line before. This is one of my favorite skincare lines. The only bummer is, as far as I know, it's only available on-line. This vitamin C gel is a clear silicone gel, but once it's on your face feels very light weight. It comes in a airless pump bottle so the antioxidants stay fresh and active. The retail price is $90.00 (see below) It's one of the few skincare products I buy over and over. I'm always looking for "the next best thing", so I rarely re-purchase. The best place to get this product line is at skin-ect.com - they have many of their products and they are discounted. Plus they offer free samples (with $20.00 puchase) so you can try other stuff. Other recomendations from Benev: Retinol cream (gentle formula) and Redoxa Dermal Firming Cream. Very high quality line - check it out!! Here are the ingredients for the Vitamin C Gel: Cyclomethicone, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Oil Soluble), Cyclopentasiloxane, Trihydroxystearin.
