Moisturizers -Olay - Complete All Day Moisturizer with sunscreen Sensitive Skin SPF15 (classic gentle formula)

In the Uk we have this product, only it goes under a different name "Olay Complete Care Daily UV Fluid For Sensitive Skin". Ever since i have bought this product the sunscreen ingredients have always been Avobenzone and Octocrylene. So it seems that the Olay company in America must be swithching to the Uk ingredients for this product which is really hateful especially for someone who has been using it a long time with the original formula and got good results i understand. I hope Olay live up to their promise for bringing back the old formula in the U.S. Anyway heres my review for the UK version I bought this when i was looking for a moisturiser with SPF in Superdug so i grabbed this. My first thoughts were despite it claiming it was fragrance free it did have an ever so slight sunscreen smell but i reckoned it was due to the SPF so i did not really mind. The consistency is thin, light and easily spread. It has never made me break out but i do remember at the start my face had a sort of allergic reaction like some people described it went sort of red but nothing long term but as i kept buying it this stopped full stop and I really love it. Oh and even though my skin isn't really sensitive it's combination and acne-prone i purchased the sensitive skin version as it does not have any fragrance i not a fan of heavily fragranced products. I really love it even though it is Avobenzone based. I hope all you guys across the pond get your beloved formula back.

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Drugstore Witch hazel
rated 5 of 5
Asen 5/2/2010 6:47:00 PM

Witch Hazel is one of the cheapest toners/atringents around and heres why i love it. Its 100% natural, cheap and lasts ages. I have combination acne prone skin and i believe a toner is necessary i don't care what beauty editors say that a toner is not recquired i see it as important step to give your skin a final go over to remove dirt that your cleanser has missed and to tighten your pores, to prevent entry of dirt and oil and Witch Hazel has the bonus of reducing redness and preventing and clearing up acne in my experience. In the Uk i buy my Witch Hazel from Boots "Boots Distilled Witch Hazel" or Savers they sell "Care X Distilled Witch Hazel" both exactly the same depends where i get to first. In the U.S from what i hear you have no trouble finding Witch Hazel in any drugstore I think the brand is Dickinsons. I would recommend Witch Hazel for Normal to Oily skin while if you have Dry to Sensitive skin i suppose you could use it but i think Rosewater as a toner is more suitable. Look back to the days of your Grandparents when the beauty products were limitted. Cold Cream or Soap and Water as a Cleanser, Witch Hazel as a toner, Nivea Créme or some other vanishing cream as a moisturiser and probably either Antiseptic cream as a spot treatment or god forbid rubbing alcohol lol. Give Witch Hazel a try people don't swear by it for nothing.

Cleansers -Dove - Beauty Bar - Sensitive Skin
rated 5 of 5
Asen 4/30/2010 5:10:00 PM

Like many of you out there i don't think you need to spend a lot of money on skin care to have good skin. I have tried so many cleansers from mostly chemists, Boots and Superdrug in the Uk. I have never bought any high end skin care e.g clinique, shisheido i cringe at the prices and i think the people who buy them are fools. The key to good skin i have learned the hardway is to keep your skin care routine simplistic. Have you ever noticed that the people with fabulous comlexions often do little in terms of their skin care routine and dare i say it use soap and water. Hard to believe i know, after all this talk of soap is bad for your skin etc etc when its really all you need. So any way after reading reviews on here I went to Superdrug and bought a twin pack of Dove Soap for Sensitive skin. Its odourless thank god as i find the original Dove overly perfumed. Its soo gentle and mild and the first soap i have discovered not to be drying or leave my skin tight. I use it morning and night and follow up with Witch Hazel as a toner and then sunscreen in the day and just witch hazel afterwards at night to let my skin breath and function itself. I have suffered from acne since i was eleven and have been on Accutane, used Benzoyl Peroxide and have always been searching for the perfect routine for me. Now i can say i found it, i love Dove Sensitive Skin Soap. Simplicity is the key, try it! it will not leave a hole in your pocket thats for sure and Dermatologists reccomend it.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Anne French Deep Cleansing Milk
rated 5 of 5
Asen 4/8/2010 3:55:00 AM

Classic Product. Has been around since the 70s and before, my mum and my great-aunt used this. So I bought it to give it a try. Its easily recognizable it comes in a white tear shaped bottle with a blue lid which pulls off does not screw off. One the way home i reached into to the bag and opened the bottle to test the consistency of the cleanser on my hand and spilt a good amount on the floor of the car. Take note it comes out very quickly so have your cotton ball at the ready. Great gentle cleanser i use it in the morning then use a different face wash at night and i love the smell, one like Nivea Creme or Ponds Cold Cream that if smelt will make you recognize it instantly. Cheap as well sells in Savers, Boots (where i am neway), Superdrug and your local chemist usually for £2.49 and it lasts for a long time.

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Duac Topical Gel
rated 5 of 5
Asen 4/7/2010 12:35:00 PM

Love this, clears my face, better and gentler on my face than Pan Oxyl TOP TIP If you apply duac gel at night, in the morning before you wash your face grab a lotion such as Johsons baby lotion, Nivea Lotion or Lubriderm or Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion if you live in the U.S and massage it into your face to dislodge the Duac Gel that has dried into your skin and remove it with tissues, cotton pads or baby wipes. This prevents bleaching of eyebrows and hair when using benzoyl peroxide based creams or gels. As when you remove the benzoyl peroxide with lotion your not mixing it with your cleanser or face wash you are not therefore rubbing it into your eyebrows and hair so they won't get bleached or damged. Hope this helps

Sunscreen -Simple - Sun Sensitive Facial Hydrolotion SPF50
rated 4 of 5
Asen 4/2/2010 12:49:00 PM

I used this religously since i bought it and heres what i experienced. I did not use a moisturizer as this provided enough hydration for my skin during the day hence the name hydrolotion duh.Take note that it only protects against UVA rays not UVB even thjough it is SPF 50 but i live in Ireland so no worries, but i would advise you not to use this as you facial sunscreen on holidays because you will get burnt due to no UVB protection. Anyway it does take a while to rub in but when it does it dries matte and does not feel greasy. I love the Simple range but it has no UVB protection so it is unlikely i will repurchase. Plus it was expensive £10.00 for it in Superdrug. It improved my skin tone, texture, and effectively moisturizes and did not give me any spots or pimples i just wish it had UVB protection.

Moisturizers -Simple - Light Moisturiser
rated 5 of 5
Asen 4/2/2010 12:37:00 PM

Great moisturiser for those with oily acne prone skin and for teenagers. The consistency of the moisturiser is a cross between a gel-like-fluid-cream with no fragrance at all and is absorbed fast into your skin leaving your skin soft and hydrated. This is not greasy at all. Its great because its cheap, comes in a travel size, lasts for a long time and will not irritate you skin unless you are allergic to the ingredients. This is one of my go-to moisturisers and ihave repurchased more than once. BTW i would not recommended this for the older generation as it would not moisturising enough for them but luckily Simple do do a rich version of this moisturiser. Just SIMPLY great.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
Asen 2/21/2010 7:01:00 AM

This product is one of my favourite cleansers. After reading reviews on here i decided to purchase it online since they do not sell it in the Uk. I started using it on Christmas Eve and it lasted me 2 months. The cleanser itself is a thick cloudy water consistency and does not foam up, the ingredients are minimal which is always good as it reduces the amount of chemicals your face is exposed to. Loads of people on here are like "OMG parabens and Sodium Laureth Sulfate". You need to chill out as cleansers are on your face for under a minute before being washed down the drain so it will hardly cause any damage. The cleanser is incredibly gentle, i use it both ways, in the morning i rub it on my face to loosen the benzoyl peroxide and tissue off so it will not bleach my eyevrows or hair then rub it on my face again and rinse with warm water and then in the evening i just rinse the Cetaphil off with warm water. This will not get rid of your acne alone but it will certainly not aggravate your skin or cause more breakouts in my experience. Definitely would repurchase.

Treatments -Vaseline - Vaseline
rated 3 of 5
Asen 1/6/2010 11:40:00 AM

I first start using vaseline when i started accutane, the dermatologist reccomended it for the chapped lips and dryness insiide the nostrils. I used it only when i was at home for those purposes. i have noticed however that it does not moisturize the lips as after a while it started to make my lips dryer than they were previously so i stopped and switched to chapstick. God knows how Marilyn Monroe used it as she used to put it on her face, which is a mystery to me as it does not absorb and makes your face look like and oil slick. I do however recccomend it for winter to put a very thin layer over your moisturiser to prevent loss of moisture it's good for that and as said previously is a versatile product

Cleansers -Noxzema - Original Skin Cream
rated 1 of 5
Asen 12/23/2009 7:32:00 AM

Holy Shit! I ordered this product online a while back and the shipping from the U.S was expensive enough. It took forever to arrive so i thought to myself this better be worth the wait. I purchased mainly because of the reviews on here. Anyway back to the product, the packaging was good as i like creams and cleansers that come in jars. The Cleansing Cream on opening the jar is solid and you have to press your finger on the surface and the product is like a fluffy kind of putty. so i followed the instructions and cleansed my face and holy crap was my face tight after rinsing i might as well of washed my face with soap the very thing i detest. A complete waste of money IMO but if you like Noxzema try the cleansing cream with moisturisers trust me you will need them

Moisturizers -Simple - Replenishing Rich Moisturiser
rated 3 of 5
Asen 8/22/2009 5:35:00 AM

I bought this product when i started on my course of accutane but never really used it until after my treatment was over. It didn't really stand out or amaze me that much nor did it make a huge difference to my skin. The appearance is a white fluid neither too thick or light with no scent. It moisturized my skin but i was concerned with the fact it had no designated sunscreen but only uva and uvb filters. It didn't make my skin worse nor did it make it better so it did not have a big impact on me.

Moisturizers -Nivea - Creme
rated 5 of 5
Asen 7/11/2009 1:33:00 PM

Nivea Creme has been around for a long time indeed. It comes in a blue tin or plastic jar. There are a few things you should know about Nivea Creme before you purchase it *Golden Rule*- Only by Nivea Creme in the tin jar not the plastic one simply because in my opinion i feel the creme in the tin jar is better quality than in the plastic jar. Some people say there are no differences but for me there is. Pros 1. Multi purpose moisturiser for face, hands, body, feet etc i use it on my face after i cleanse and tone. 2. Pleasant fresh smell. 3. Will not give you spots or pimples 4. Only a small amount is needed 5. Cheap and comes in all different sizes Cons 1. Some people may fine it difficult to spread but a tip is to take a small amount warm it between your fingers then pat on to your face and your good to go

rated 5 of 5
Asen 7/2/2009 12:28:00 PM

Very good exfoliating scrub for people with combination skin. Only use twice a week as every day is a bit much on your skin and may strip it of the skin's natural oils. Pros 1. Pleasant Smell 2. Removes dead skin cells leaving the skin with a natural glow 3. Lasts a long time 4. Only a pea sized amount is needed each time you exfoliate your face. 5. Contains Salicylic Acid that is helpful to people with acne. 6. Not harsh like the original Apricot Scrub from St Ives has a nice creamy texture with small yet effective micro-beads Cons None, works very well definitely a must in a skin care regimen
