Loose Powders -MAC - Blot Powder - Loose
AriasMommy 9/16/2007 12:08:00 PM
I've been jumping around trying all sorts of powder from loose to pressed, high end to low end. This one is my favorite so far. It makes my face just matte enough, without looking dead or chalky. It actually has a little glow to it on me, and I really like that. The container is a little messy, but I'm pretty used to it now. I think the jar will last awhile though...I'm still working on using the powder that's trapped above the sifter!

Hair Color -Revlon - Colorsilk
AriasMommy 9/16/2007 12:06:00 PM
So far so good. I picked this up in Dark Mahogany Brown. It was a duo pack for just under $4 at Wal-mart. I was hoping to get a deep deep brown just shy of black with red hints, because the red hints are always much more flattering on me. Consistency is awful, I've colored my hair so many times and this is by far the worst consistency. I managed to fling some of the developer across the room by accident just by cutting the top off the squeeze bottle to use for application. The toner is liquid, not creme like Garnier. I prefer the creme. The smell was insignificant. It smelled, but most others smell much worse. I did not like the ketchup package conditioner packets, they are so hard to open in the shower with wet hands. I ended up having to use my teeth and both hands to pull while keeping a grip on the corner with my teeth. My hair does not feel too damaged, but it will need some TLC. The color is alright, the bottom is darker than the top but since it's an all around dark shade it's not too noticeable. If I could find this color in Nutrisse, I'd use it. I don't think I'll use this one again unless I can't find a similar color in any other brand.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lipglass in Prrr
AriasMommy 1/7/2007 11:43:00 AM
I've been on the hunt for a nude lipstick/lipcolor, because I like to have my eyes be the focus point of my makeup most days. I have very dark brown hair, brown eyes...and am EXTREMELY pale (lighter than NC15), so most of the colors just washed me out. Then I saw one of the tanner MA's at MAC with a gorgeous lip color on. I asked her what it was, thinking to myself that it most likely wouldn't work for me anyways because her skin tone was so different, and she said "Honeylove with Prrr on top"
So I tried it. Another MA suggested that I "blank out" my lips first with concealer to make the color show up better, since I have pretty pigmented lips. I tried it both with and without concealer on my lips, and both ways it looked so fabulous! I did not look washed out at all! I cannot wear Prrr by itself however...for whatever reason it turns up too milky on me by itself. Go out any buy this, NOW!
FINALLY!!!

Lip Gloss -Prescriptives - Custom Blend Lip Gloss
AriasMommy 11/28/2006 8:43:00 PM
I went into Nordstrom's today, and had planned on only buying one, since the price is even more expensive than the Chanel Glossimers that I (loved) so much. Keyword being loved. I decided today that I'm getting rid of every other lipgloss I own, because I am just flabbergasted at how superb this product is. The salesperson was so very friendly, and her suggestions were just dead on. I didn't customize it too much other than adding shimmer and actually mixing two flavor options (vanila and mint for one and just bellini for the other). I'm not sure how much I'm going to like the packaging...I would much prefer a tiny brush like MAC lustreglasses, but it's a small sacrifice to make for a spectacular product. I'm totally going to get more.

Lipstick -MAC - Pink Cabana
AriasMommy 11/14/2006 11:54:00 AM
I NEVER wear lipsticks, I always wear lipglass and glossimers...but this lipstick is so unbelievably perfect. It's not too pink, peach, or anything, it has beautiful shimmer. It looks superb by itself or paired with nymphette. I had bought Sandy B, but it was way too frosty. Pink Cabana is everything I hoped for and more. If you can find it, get it.

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Spark Glossimer

This is the perfect sheerish red. I cannot wear lipsticks because there is too much color..but this is like the perfect marriage between opacity and sheerness. Just beautiful!

Crème -MAC - Full Coverage Foundation

This foundation is actually just a ginormous size of their studio fix concealer...the one in the little pan. It's true! I asked MAC through their live chat!

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Crystal Body Deodorant Stick
AriasMommy 11/1/2006 12:14:00 PM
I was very skeptical at first to try this, but the smell of even unscented deodorants had been giving me headaches since the day I started using deodorants many years ago. Then I heard all the fuss about aluminum chlorohydrate and thought it was a good reason to switch to an all natural. I found this at whole foods, I think it was 4-5 dollars. At first glimpse this thing looks like it will do absolutely nothing to help with odor. So I bought it and tried it and I am simply amazed. All you do is wet the crystal and apply it just like deodorant! And it works! All day, even to the next morning! And even better...my 8 month old has had a rash on her forehead since a few days after she was born. It's almost gone now! I concluded that some chemical from the old deodorants was irritating her forehead when I nurse her. So extra points to the crystal stick. I'll never go back. I don't mind that it's not anti perspirant, because it's actually a good thing to sweat...it eliminates toxins and regulates body temperature. We wouldn't have been created with the funtion of perspiration if it wasn't a good thing. Think of it this way: dogs only regulate theiir body temperature through having their tongue hanging out. Did you know if you muzzle a dog in the heat, it's likely die of overheating? One dog in our area actually did, it was on the news...but, my point is that perspiration is both normal AND healthy for you...if you're hindering your perspiration ability, it can't possibly be a good thing in the long run. GO CRYSTAL STICK!!!

Misc Beauty Tools -MAC - Brush Cleanser
AriasMommy 10/27/2006 8:49:00 PM
I looove this brush cleanser as well as almost everyone else here. The reason that you should be using this to clean your brushes every day and not shampoo and water on an everyday basis (once a week or every two weeks is fine) is because if the brush is washed in water every day, the water gets absorbed to the base of the bristles and can mildew, even if you lay it flat or hang it bristles down to dry. When it does mildew, the ferrule will eventually become detached from the brush handle. It doesn't matter which brand of brush you are using, even the MAC ones do it...I know this because a friend of mine works at MAC and she is the one who told me this, and showed me her dilapidated eyeshadow brush whose ferrule had become dislocated and could be pulled off, bristles intact LOL. Anyways, I love this brush cleaner for everyday use...but I do a deep cleaning once every week or two weeks with baby shampoo and water.

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque
AriasMommy 9/16/2006 12:20:00 AM
I looked on this site hoping i'd find some great recommendations for a great mask that would make my skin baby soft and leave my several enlarged pores nice and tightly closed, and I did! What I was surprised about the most, however, is that it's not some high-end department store brand that took the cake. The minty smell is great, if I didn't have one mother of a tension headache right now it'd probably be even more so. I applied it liberally, especially in areas like my forehead and nose, and waited 35 minutes although the directions say 15-20. It dried up to be very stiff, my face felt like i'd cast it in plaster...which I suppose is essentially what I did...hahaha...anyway, I washed it off using warm water and washcloth and could NOT believe just how great my skin felt afterwards! And the best part was almost all of the tiny blackheads that I battle constantly to get rid of...were GONE! I will most definitely buy this again.
