Polishes -Zoya - Trixie
AriaMuse 1/11/2007 2:54:00 PM
For those of you looking for a beautiful chrome/silver polish, Zoya's Trixie is it! First a bit of my backstory with bad silver polishes.... A couple of years I found a silver polish at Hot Topic, which I used a lot because it was the only silver that did not look "sheer" or white to me. Then the bottle eventually dried up and became unusable, and since then I've been buying basically every drugstore silver polish in sight to try. I had not had any luck until I happened to find this Zoya polish online, and at least in the picture it looked fantastic. The polish just came today, and it is even better than I had hoped for! More sophisticated then the Hot Topic polish, yet chrome-y and sparkly all in one. The Zoya polish goes on very well, and even after one coat looks incredibly smooth, line free, and opaque. For around 5 bucks a bottle, not much more than a drugstore polish, this polish is a steal! The packaging is also really cute and professional looking! Thanks Zoya for finally making a silver that I can wear :)

Shampoo -Aveda - Rosemary Mint Shampoo
AriaMuse 5/28/2006 10:33:00 AM
I have long, thick, curly hair, and the lady at Aveda didn't recommend this for me because she said it would be way too drying. I bought it anyway because I loved the scent, and I'm really glad that I did. I can't use it every day on my hair, but it is a great clarifying shampoo to use a couple of times a week. It also just smells wonderful - it would be a great thing to use when you're sick; the mint is fresh and invigorating. This shampoo makes my hair feel light and shiny and gunk free, plus I love that it's made from mostly natural ingredients. I also like the conditioner, although it's a very light consistency, so if you have crazy hair like me you'll probably need something heavier.

Fragrances -Chanel - No.5
AriaMuse 12/25/2005 9:09:00 PM
My mom wears Chanel No. 5 on occasion, and I've always been fascinated with the scent of it. It is the definitive fragrance for me, any time that I think of perfumes. I'm in college, so I think it's a little too mature for me at the moment, but it smells lovely on my mother. It's subtle, but I can always tell when someone is wearing it. I love the soft floral notes in this scent.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - Smooth-Intense Vive
AriaMuse 12/25/2005 7:46:00 PM
I bought this after seeing ad after ad on tv. I have long, curly, and frizzy hair, so I was excited to try something that would supposedly make it 3x smoother. I used this once, and it made my hair dry and crispy. It was definitely the worst shampoo I have ever tried. The conditioner didn't do anything to moisturize or smooth my hair either. I tried the shampoo and conditioner again today after putting in a 15 minute hair treatment, and this shampoo stripped off all of the moisture that I had just put on my hair. The only redeeming quality in this product is the scent, which is light, clean, and fresh.

Bath Treatments -Burt's Bees - Therapeutic Bath Crystals
AriaMuse 12/25/2005 1:47:00 PM
I asked for this for Christmas and my mom bought it for me. I'm slightly under the weather, so I poured about 4 tablespoonfulls of this in my hot bath that I just took. The aroma of these crystals is lovely, and I think it smells much better when it's actually in the bath as opposed to when you first open the can. It relaxed my aching muscles and also helped me to breathe better. My skin also feels soft and smooth! I'll definitely repurchase this!

Lotions/ Creams -Eucerin - Dry Skin Therapy Plus Intensive Repair Creme
AriaMuse 12/15/2005 3:31:00 PM
This lotion is absolutely amazing! I have been getting red, itchy, and scaly skin on my arms, and I needed a lotion that I could use at night. I applied the Eucerin right before bed, and it didn't soak in for a while, so I was a little worried. I could not believe how smooth my arms were when I woke up this morning! The bumps have even diminished from one applicaton! It is a little expensive for a drugstore lotion though, but it's definitely worth the price.

Lotions/ Creams -Olay - Quench Body Lotion Extra Dry Skin
AriaMuse 12/15/2005 3:27:00 PM
I have had problems with my skin getting red, itchy, and bumpy in the winter, and I'm always on the lookout for a super moisturizing lotion. This lotion could be a little richer, but it soaks right in and I don't have to worry about it getting sticky on my skin. I don't mind the mica, as it gives my super pale skin a little bit of a glow. The scent reminds me of a baby, which I like, although it's too strong for me to use at night. The lotion dries to a powdery finish, and I like that. I took one lippie off just for the strong scent. Luckily the scent diminishes after a few minutes and just smells fresh. *EDIT* I took off a lippie because of the scent. I didn't mind it until I undressed at the end of the day....my legs smelled disgusting! I don't know how to describe it, but the fresh scent definitely wasn't "fresh" any more! I still do like the moisturizing benefits though. I will probably not buy this again because of the scent.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Beeswax Lip Balm
AriaMuse 12/9/2005 3:31:00 PM
I'm a music major in college, and playing my French horn all the time really dries out my lips and makes them swollen sometimes. This lip balm has really helped my lips to recover from playing so much during the day. I put it on as soon as I'm done playing, and the cooling mint feel really relaxes my lips. I also love the fact that it's all-natural, because I am allergic to a lot of additives in beauty products. It comes in a little tin or a tube, and I recommend the tube just because I don't want to have to stick my fingers in my gloss each time I want to apply it. I definitely recommend this balm!!

Toners -Burt's Bees - Complexion Mist - all of them
AriaMuse 11/23/2005 2:41:00 PM
I bought the grapefruit mist a couple of years ago and forgot about it until a week ago or so. I already use Burt's Bees Tomato soap and toner for my combination/acne prone skin, but the mist is a great addition to my skincare routine. It feels great and is very refreshing, and it makes my skin feel softer right after use. I don't know if it helps my skin at all with breakouts, but it definitely makes my complexion look more balanced.

Shampoo -John Frieda - Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Corrective Shampoo
AriaMuse 11/13/2005 8:43:00 PM
I have long, curly hair that tends to become a puffball as soon as there's any humidity in the air. That's precisely why I tries this shampoo and its conditioner sidekick. At first I was really impressed with the results - my hair was soft and more tame. Unfortunately those results only lasted a couple of days, and my hair got more and more coarse. After feeling my hair the other day, my boyfriend described it as feeling "like wool". Yikes! Perhaps the only redeeming quality that this product has is its great smell. Frizz Ease shampoo was not my cure-all for frizz, although I do like the serum for when I want to wear it straight.

Conditioner -John Frieda - Brilliant Brunette Light Reflecting Conditioner
AriaMuse 9/11/2005 2:35:00 PM
I have medium brown, curly, and thick hair. This conditioner definitely makes it much more shiny, but it leaves too much residue for me to use it every day. The smell is a nice coconut/caramel scent, but it can be overpowering at times. It's great to use as a conditioning treatment or with the shampoo to give hair extra shine.

Shampoo -John Frieda - Brilliant Brunette Shine Release Moisturizing Shampoo
AriaMuse 9/11/2005 2:31:00 PM
I have medium brown hair with natural light brownish red tones in it as well. It's very curly and thick, so I have trouble finding a shampoo or conditioner that controls it. Brilliant Brunette controls it and definitely makes it much more shiny. This shampoo is VERY thick, almost too thick, as it is actually too moisturizing for my hair and tends to build up. I don't use it as my primary shampoo any more since it builds up so much. It's great to use as a once a week treatment or for special occasions though. Make sure you use it with a Brilliant Brunette conditioner for best results.

Polishes -L'Oreal - Bijou Gems
AriaMuse 7/27/2005 4:10:00 PM
I bought this in B Dynamic, and the shade is lovely. The coverage is great, as I only applied 2 thin coats and got the same shade that it looks like in teh bottle. Unfortunately, the extremely small bottle is this polish's downfall. I would buy it again, but for the price, I think they should be a tad more generous =P

Scrubs -Burt's Bees - Citrus Facial Scrub
AriaMuse 7/24/2005 12:09:00 PM
My skin is also quite sensitive, but this citrus scrub doesn't irritate it at all! It smells heavenly and leaves my skin feeling really soft. I don't get the filmy texture after I use it like some reviewers have, but it does recommend on the box to use a toner after scrubbing. Yet another great and natural product from Burt's Bees!

Misc Beauty Tools -Gillette - Venus Razor
AriaMuse 6/17/2005 9:05:00 PM
I really like to use the Venus on my legs, because it is much more smooth and gentle on them than any other razor I've tried. My gripe about the Venus is its performance on my underarms. It gives me horrible razor bumps and it is extremely painful to shave with it. I much prefer a men's razor like the Mach 3, since it is designed for coarser hair and to soothe over-shaved skin. The Venus is definitely the best razor to use on legs though.
