Powder -Milani - Multitasker

So in my search for skin perfection, first i try all of the cheaper stuff listed as an MUA Top Pick and then work my way to the expensive stuff if necessary. This was great because it was cheap, it was fantastic for being completely matte, but unfortunately it looked too flat, the color match wasn't good and it caused a bunch of little whiteheads on my chin. I know this was the guilty product because I've had clear, blemish-free skin for years. So much so that I panicked and didn't know how to deal with those whiteheads. I stopped using this powder and then it took like 2 months for my skin to recover. Boo.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Orjene Organics CoQ10 OliveVitale Foaming Face Wash
Aralechan 8/30/2008 3:59:00 AM
I love this cleanser almost as much as BWC's herbal cream cleanser. This is the only foaming cleanser that doesn't dry me out. Not the most heavy duty cleanser but I use an oil cleanser before to get off makeup anyway. Bought it at vitacost.com for super cheap. The greatest thing is that this is totally travel friedly unlike the usual pump top. You just stick the cap on and secure it with some scotch tape and the pump is completely encased.

Mascara -Kiss Me - HEROINE MAKE long and curl mascara (black)
Aralechan 4/21/2008 2:02:00 AM
Finally broke down and bought this mascara at my local Mitsuwa. It has a silly shojo manga crying girl with huge eyes and blonde curls on the package and so I steered clear of such girly marketing. But now, I must admit, this is a great mascara. Absolutely no smearing, great separation and a very pretty result. Love it. Not used to a curved brush, but soon got used to it. This might beat out my all time fave Powerstyle. I have a sneaking feeling that the Powerstyle doesn't sell as well so the tubes get old and that's why it hasn't been living up to my previous love for it. At $13.99 it's not a steal, but definitely more affordable than the department store high-end mascaras. Now if this were paraben free and biodegradable and cruelty free and free trade friendly and all those socially/enviromentally responsible things I would be estatic.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
Aralechan 4/21/2008 1:47:00 AM
This is a very decent mascara. Darkens nicely and holds a curl. Doesn't add volume but does separate pretty well. Can't apply layer after layer because it starts to clump. Minimal smearing. Why must the package be so honking big though? Looks like a mascara tube on steroids, kinda silly. I would buy this again if in a total pinch, but I think I'll stick with my Japanese non-smearing mascaras: Powerstyle Mascara Super waterproof Curl&Separate and Kiss Me heroine make long&curl mascara. If you live near a Japanese market like Mitsuwa or Marukai I suggest you try one of these mascaras.

Mascara -Maybelline - Unstoppable Mascara [DISCONTINUED]
Aralechan 4/21/2008 1:37:00 AM
My problem: extreme racoon eye no matter what mascara I use. So Unstoppable Waterprood gave me some hope. Absolutely no smearing, Maybelline claims. Wrong. It did smear, but maybe not to the extent of other mascaras. And the brush was big and fat, but somehow the bristles seemed very sparse. As for thickening and lengthening, it was alright. But since it smears, it's going into the trashcan.

Brows -Boots - No 7 Lash and Brow Perfector
Aralechan 4/21/2008 1:32:00 AM
So I was looking for a clear mascara so I could sidestep the smearing underneath the eye problem. Just something to hold the curl on my super straight Asian lashes. Well, this wasn't it. Did absolutely nothing, didn't hold the curl and got flaky after a while. Since it's also for the brows, I tried it on my brows and it did nothing to hold my unruly brows in place. Straight to the trashcan.

Mascara -Kanebo - Kate Curl Memory Mascara Waterproof
Aralechan 4/21/2008 1:20:00 AM
Got this at my local Mitsuwa and although it's pretty cheap in Japan, all the costs associated in importing here make it pretty pricey. Anyways, I have super straight Asian lashes so after I take so much time curling them, it's a major disappointment when a mascara ruins all the work I put in. This mascara is too watery and uncurls what I had taken so long to get to curl. Ironic that it's called Curl Memory. If you don't have my problem, then this mascara might work for you. Big thick brush, and decent waterproof-ness. Doesn't thicken or lengthen at all. Only good thing is that it doesn't smear as much as American mascaras seem to on me.

Cleansers -Beauty Without Cruelty - Herbal Cream Cleanser
Aralechan 4/18/2004 11:17:00 PM
This is my holy grail. I have very dry flaky sensitive pimples-when-stressed-out skin and this is the only thing that keeps my skin perfect. It's a cream cleanser that doesn't foam with a texture similar to Cetaphil, but unlike Cetaphil doesn't leave a weird film after rinsing. Your skin won't feel squeaky clean but soft and fabulous. It doesn't remove all my eye makeup (full n'soft mascara) but if it did it would probably be too harsh anyway. The scent is unique, but doesn't bother me. My absolute favorite and someone should slap me if I ever feel like trying something new. I had Wild Oats special order it for me and it was $8.99.

Sunscreen -Ocean Potion - SPF 50 Sunscreen
Aralechan 6/7/2003 11:06:00 PM
Since my mom still hasn't sent me my Holy Grail Ipsa sunscreen (sorry guys, it's only available in Japan), I returned to this cheap alternative. Kinda stings around the eyes. But no whitish cast, absorbs well, and not as greasy as my experience with Skinceuticals. For under $2 this is phenomenal.

Moisturizers -Jurlique - Elderflower Cream
Aralechan 2/18/2003 12:22:00 AM
It's too thick and doesn't completely absorb. Supposed to whiten and brighten but I don't notice any difference after using every night for 2 months. The tube is one of those medical-like tubes that you have to pop the seal open and if you don't close it right away the cream starts oozing out. The only plus is that it hasn't caused any breakouts.

Cleansers -Aveeno - Skin Replenishing Cleansing Lotion
Aralechan 2/18/2003 12:06:00 AM
I love this cleanser. Cheap, rinses off well, doesn't cause breakouts. I don't know how well it removes makeup (don't wear any). The only problem is that the pump doesn't work too well and the consistency is kind of watery. Overall, a great product but I like the consistency of Beauty Without Cruelty's Herbal cleanser better.
