Lip Treatments -mark - Kiss Therapy Super Soothing Lip Balm [DISCONTINUED]

I am always on the lookout for a new favourite lip product, and after seeing all the rave reviews for this particular item, I decided to give it a try. I ordered 2 of them, Shimmering Shell w/ SPF 15 and Sheer Rose. The minute I opened the package, my nose was assaulted by the horrendous smell of this product. I can't even describe it. I can definitely smell rose in it, but it's not a nice rose smell at all. My second issue with the product is the consistency. It is SO thick and goopy. I mean REALLY goopy, and it's really heavy on the lips, and it feels very sticky when you first apply it. My third issue is that you practically have to wrestle the damn tin into submission to get it open. It's not an easy task, so warm up and do some stretches before you go at it. That said, this product looks AMAZING once it's on your lips. (I KNOW!! THIS IS CRAZY!!) I mean, after I fight to open the damn case, practically faint from the smell and then use steel wool to wipe it off my finger after applying, my lips look INCREDIBLE. I have 2 of them, and they are both brand spankin' new so they will probably last me some time. We'll see if I repurchase again. It depends how tired I am from fighting to get the tin open a million times.

Moisturizers -Marcelle - Aquarelle Aqua-Matte Hydrating Fluid

I am very, very pleased with this product. I have a very, VERY oily T-Zone, and I have been searching high and low, near and far for a product that will get rid of my ugly shinies. I swear, when someone takes my picture, you can see their reflection in the shimmering pool of grease on my forehead. Anyways - I was searching p'ville for a nice oil-free moisturizer and I came across this little gem. There were so many positive reviews that I knew I had to give it a try. I'm very glad that I did. Now, it doesn't get rid of ALL the oilies, but it does significantly reduce the shine on my face, and I can get through most of the day without having to blot with a tissue. (And let me tell you - I used to blot - a lot!) I don't use actual oil blotting sheets as I find that they CAUSE me to be more oily. This lotion has really helped me. It doesn't cause me to break out - but then I rarely break out anyways. It absorbs very quickly, doesn't smell bad at all, and you get quite a lot in the bottle. And for $17 CDN, you can't go wrong. I would highly recommend this lotion to any gal with oily skin.

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Light

Awful. Awful, awful, awful. I used it for 4 days straight, and for 4 days straight my face was a grease pit. I've tried both the original primer and this one, and neither of them work for me. My makeup settled on top of it, and my face looked blotchy and disgusting. It went on smoothly, but that's about the only positive thing that I can say about it. DO NOT WANT! Back to the store she goes!!

Sunscreen -B. Kamins - Bio-Maple sunbar sunscreen SPF 30
rated 4 of 5
AntsInMyPants 10/15/2007 10:37:00 AM

So far, so good. I rec'd a sample of this from Sephora. I've been looking for a lotion I can use on my oily skin under my makeup. I'm using Diacneal at night, so a high SPF is important to me. I've only been using it for about 3 days now, and i'm impressed. It doesn't make my oily skin oilier, and it dries quite quickly and my foundation goes on quite nicely afterwards. I definitely think that I will purchase this when my sample runs out. I'll have to come back and update in a few days, just to be sure. *Update* I still love this just as much as I did when I first reviewed it. I'm going to buy the full size this weekend!

Concealers -Revlon - Age Defying Concealer With Botafirm ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5

I really do like this concealer. I've used many different kinds - both HE and LE, and I think this one is my favourite so far. It has really nice coverage and it goes on nice and smooth. It's a creamy texture and it's really easy to blend and it doesn't collect or settle into my fine lines. I can't really say for sure if this concealer or my eye cream that I use - but after using this, my eyes do look less tired and my puffiness is a bit toned down. Regardless, I would definitely purchase this again - it really does provide great coverage for my dark circles and puffiness.

Moisturizers -Neostrata - Smoothing Cream (all concentration levels)
rated 2 of 5
AntsInMyPants 10/9/2007 1:48:00 PM

This product had potential. It smoothed out my skin quite nicely, and got rid of all the pesky little bumps that I just couldn't seem to get rid of - and all in a matter of 1 week. However, this stuff REEKS! The smell is so bad, that by day 6 of using this product, I was practically gagging when I put it on. I couldn't take it anymore, so I returned it. If you can stand the smell, then this stuff does actually work - but I just couldn't take it anymore. GROSS

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Dream Matte Pressed Powder
rated 4 of 5
AntsInMyPants 10/1/2007 12:26:00 PM

Ok! I'm impressed. I've never used Maybelline products, and in all honesty (not trying to sound like a cosmetics snob because by no means do I use only high end stuff) I never thought I would. I never really thought of Maybelline as quality stuff. However, I was at Shopper's Drug Mart looking for an AHA lotion for my oily skin, and when I asked the cosmetics counter woman for a suggestion on a nice pressed powder for oily skin, she beelined it straight to the Maybelline display. I must have looked skeptical, because she then turned to me and said that ALL of the women that work in the cosmetics dept' of that particular SDM use this pressed powder. They gave it absolutely rave reviews, and I do have to say that the girl who helped me...her skin was beautiful, and she did say that she was currently wearing the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Powder. Ok - now to my experience. Today is my 2nd day using it, and I really like it. I mean, I really REALLY like it, in a Sally Field just won another Oscar kind of way. My skin looks really fresh and even, it's nicely matte and it stays matte for much longer than it normally does. I don't have to touch up at 10am anymore - I can make it until at least lunch hour before blotting the oils and patting this powder on - and even then - i'm not THAT oily looking. So this powder does what it says it does. I will definitely repurchase it - and contrary to a few of the other reviewers here, I really like the nifty packaging. :D The only reason that I took off a lippie was for the price. It's 15 bucks CAD for this little gem, (and it IS little) and for a Maybelline product, I find that steep. But then again, the price isn't stopping me from believing that i'll purchase this again.

Skincare - Face -Neostrata - Day Lotion 4%/8% Glycolic
rated 1 of 5
AntsInMyPants 9/28/2007 12:13:00 PM

I have 1 word for this product: Awful. Aside from the fact that it's packaged in a hygienic way, it's an awful product. I bought the 8% Glycolic Day Lotion for Oily/Acne prone skin. There must have been some sort of confusion when labeling this product, 'cuz when they say it's for oily/acne prone skin, I think what they meant to say was it CAUSES oily/acne prone skin. Seriously, my face looked like someone just fried an egg on it and left the pan sitting on the burner for a day and a half so the grease could establish a nice high-gloss shine on it. Now, if I were a bowling ball, or maybe a 1960's Ford Mustang I could understand wanting a high gloss shine. But no, I am an oily skinned girl, just making my way through life trying to find a nice product to keep my oilies behind bars. This was NOT the product to do that, however, I may give this to my dad to use to buff his beloved truck. Thanks, but no thanks Neostrata.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Skin Firming Lotion
rated 4 of 5
AntsInMyPants 9/4/2007 5:22:00 PM

This is my HG body lotion. I go back to it time and time again. Although the consistency is a but greasy, once you work it in - it's fine. My skin looks and feels fabulous after regular use of this lotion, and my hubby looooves to feel my skin, always commenting on how soft it is. It really does help my skin tone as well - believe it or not, it looks much more toned and even after regular use. I will always repurchase this body lotion.

Conditioner -Aussie - Sydney Smooth
rated 4 of 5
AntsInMyPants 9/4/2007 5:17:00 PM

I'm impressed. I saw this product on sale and decided to give it a shot. My hair really does like Aussie products, although they aren't the best products i've used. (Biolage Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioning Balm are my faves) This leave in conditioner leaves my hair very soft, and much to my surprise and extreme delight, it also makes my hair VERY shiny! Very shiny indeed! I would definitely recommend this product to anyone inquiring about it. Just as an FYI - I have fine hair (the individual strand itself), although it is quite thick (volume of hair). It is also colour treated, oily at the scalp and tends to be normal to dry at the ends. I will definitely repurchase this leave in conditioner.

Gels/Soaps -Dove - Cool Moisture Body Wash
rated 5 of 5
AntsInMyPants 6/13/2007 5:23:00 PM

This is my HG body wash. I've tried so many, and none of them have left my skin as soft and clean as this one has. The price is right, it has a nice, light scent and the packaging is perfect. My skin is normal to dry, and I always have to lotion after a shower, but with this body wash, if I forget to lotion - it's ok, because my skin doesn't feel dry at all! Love, love, love this body wash. HG status.

Gels/Soaps -Dove - Cream Oil Shower
rated 2 of 5
AntsInMyPants 5/17/2007 9:58:00 AM

I really wanted to like this, but alas, I do not. The consistency of the body wash is really watery. I don't find that it lathers well at all. After using it for a few days, I found it left my skin very dry and itchy, and I was using the most moisturizing one! I also found that it felt like I had a layer of grease on my skin, and when I shaved, it filled my razor with gross buildup. I did not like this at all. I will continue to buy the Dove Cool Moisture, which is ten times the product this is!

I am so in love with this product! When I use it, my feet are so incredibly soft and smooth and the smell is soooo delicious. I rec'd it as a gift, and I can not get enough of using it!!! I follow it up with either the Shea Butter Heel Cream or the Cocomint Foot Lotion. Fabulous product!!
