Moisturizers -Fresh - Creme Ancienne Eye Cream
AnnieNYC 4/23/2013 3:52:00 PM
I love this eye cream. Bobbi Brown discontinued my BELOVED Eye Balm, and I've been so upset that I cannot even tell you....then I found (after a long search) this eye cream. It is no Extra Eye Balm, but it is great. The trick is to warm it between your fingers for a minute before applying. My eyes LOVE this stuff, and it even makes the under-eye area look brighter and kind of "juicy" in a great way. My concealer goes over this like a dream. It's a keeper, even though the price is obscene. (Oh, and I'm 44, so this eye cream is a must-have for me!)

NOT WATERPROOF. I put a bit on today (not much, it is Sunday and I'm just hanging around) and all day I've been having to wipe it with a Q-Tip off the top of my eyelids where it is transferring. I'm NOT sweating or working out (movie on the couch followed by an hour of grocery shopping) and it is not hot out. I purchased these in 3 colors since the girl at Sephora was raving about them. These are going back tomorrow! Ugh!

Moisturizers -La Mer - The Moisturizing Soft Cream
AnnieNYC 9/30/2012 12:34:00 PM
If you are old enough to remember when Coca-Cola introduced "New Coke", this cream is La Mer's "New Coke"...it is a disaster. I bought it (and am returning it today) and used it for a whole week. My 44 year old skin didn't feel plump and moisturized like it always did with regular La Mer (I've used the cream and the lotion in the past). I woke up every morning and I felt almost dry (in this September weather I don't get truly dry...but if I'd used this product in January it would have been a disaster). I'm SO disappointed in this product and predict it will be off the market within the year. A total FAIL. (BY THE WAY, I COPIED AND PASTED THIS TO THE LA MER WEBSITE AND THEY REFUSED TO PUBLISH IT)

Foundations -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup For Face & Body
AnnieNYC 9/28/2012 10:04:00 PM
To those women who are giving this a bad review because they say it is too "cakey" or whatever, you do NOT understand the plight of a woman who has serious skin problems. For me, it could go on like wall spackle if it allows me to go out in the world and be confident and have a career and a social life. My skin is terrible, and this foundation has saved my life. However, while it covers extremely well it still looks natural and pretty (a dot the size of a pea does my whole face). It is the HOLY GRAIL of foundations for women who have a skin issue which is getting in the way of life. So, if your skin is just fine and you are giving this bad reviews because it is too much for you.....well, that's not fair.

Treatments -Joico - K-Pak Color Restorative Styling Oil

I'm in love with this product. My hair is super dry and processed, and I'm a terrible blow dry addict. I also heat style with a curling iron, and I'm way over 40, when hair seems to change and get dry and impossible to love. This product made me throw ALL the others out.....I use it on damp hair before blow drying and it performs miracles! It disappears into my hair, but leaves it soft and shiny, and I'm even trying air-drying for the very first time in my life. I'm not sure if a product can change your life, but this one is coming pretty darn close.

Shampoo -Pureology - Nanoworks Shampoo
AnnieNYC 5/28/2012 11:12:00 PM
"LucyEm" called the price of this obscene and she was right, but for me it was either this or an expensive wig! You see, I'd colored dark, then highlighted, then colored dark over that, then highlighted (huge chunky highlights) then colored dark over that again (I'm neurotic)....all in the span of a year. I'm 43 and I blow dry and hot curl every single day (except in the extreme hot weather). My hair is in terrible shape and I was filling the brush with broken hair every day. I heard about this shampoo and gave it a try (even Kerastase Bain Satin wasn't working for me any longer). My hair now feels AMAZING and is shiny and "young" again!! I bought the conditioner, too, but I like the shampoo much more. Anyway, when you are in a desperate situation this is the shampoo for you....it may be a fortune to buy it, but the alternatives (cutting off all my hair, etc.) are out of the question. I'd rather not eat and have this shampoo. By the way, I got my first bottle for 50 bucks at Nordstrom Rack and just got my second bottle on Amazon for a similar discount. It lasts a long time and is very concentrated. Anyway, if you are thinking about it....just do it. It will literally save your hair, and if you are getting on in years like I am, it will give you back the hair you had at 16. Miracles are worth paying for!!!

Shampoo -Living Proof - Restore

The entire line left my colored hair dry and I could not even get the comb through it while it was wet.....AND I used both the conditioner and some mask on my ends. This stuff is simply horrible. I'm off to Sephora to return the whole set. Ugh!

I love this as a bronzer for my pale, pale skin (I'm lighter than Nicole Kidman)....I always come back to it when I realize that whatever bronzer I'm trying out is making me look orange. It is subtle and classy and totally gorgeous. I buy Beige Mouselline, Number 84, which is darker than my skin, of course. It is very natural looking a and with a pop of blush on my cheeks it is the perfect look. It is obscenely expensive, but you only live once :)

Blush -Physicians Formula - Happy Booster™ Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in Natural
AnnieNYC 3/15/2012 6:25:00 PM
As a person without a job, and someone who is generally sick of paying for expensive makeup that CANNOT make me into a supermodel, I'm in love with this blush. I returned a NARS "Deep Throat" (too bright or something...I'm 43 and hate looking like I have too much makeup on) and bought this for a fraction of the price. It makes my cheeks look young and fresh, and I'm thrilled with it. I'm very fair, so the "Natural" was the right pick for me; the more pink-ish colors would have been to bright. I hate the packaging of this brand, and could really live without the cheap brush and the whole area that holds the brush, but whatever. I'm just happy to have a pretty blush to make me feel young again. Oh, I also use the "happy" bronzer from this company and have found it to be better than most of the expensive brands (in the past I've tried everything!).

Treatments -Shea Moisture - Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque
AnnieNYC 1/20/2012 5:56:00 PM
Ok, so I am thinking this is a product that is marketed to African-American women, and I'm Caucasian. However, I have damaged my hair in ways that shock even my hairdresser. I have a lot of hair, but it is sort of fine (if that makes sense) and gets weighed down easily. This product was a MIRACLE for my highlighted and over-processed hair that I blow dry and hot curl EVERY day (I'm lucky there is still hair on my head at all). I cannot speak highly enough of this product....it is, indeed, the Holy Grail of hair products, and I have tried them ALL. WHY is this so under-loved? Try it, girls, no matter what race or ethnicity you are!!!

Gels/Soaps -Gold Bond - Ultimate Deep Moisture Softening Body Wash with Shea Butter
AnnieNYC 12/15/2011 12:22:00 PM
This is the HOLY GRAIL of body washes, and I've used them ALL. The smell is amazing, the results on my dry, older skin are outstanding, and I'm in LOVE. I stockpile this stuff like the world is coming to an end.....OMG.....try it, you'll ADORE it. A little goes a long way, and I buy it at BBandBeyond for 5.99 and usually have a 20 percent off coupon. If they ever discontinue this stuff I'll DIE.

Shampoo -Aveda - Smooth Infusion
AnnieNYC 4/28/2011 1:50:00 PM
This dried out my hair and made it feel like STRAW. It does add some shine, but it isn't worth it in my opinion. I can't stand the way my hair feels with this...I needed to add a TON of deep conditioner to alleviate the straw feeling! And HORRIBLE Aveda won't take it back...grrr...hate them.

Bronzers -Givenchy - Le Prisme Sun Visage - Mat - Soft Compact Face Powder

I'm so fair that I use this (color number 84) as a bronzer....it does not read orange on my face at all, and the colors are beautiful. One problem is that I've gone through two of them because when I carry it around it tends to break up in the pan. This is not a big problem for me, though, since I love the product SO much! If you are very, very fair this is a wonderful bronzer!
