Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme

Brought this after reading all the great reviews on MUA. I use Nivea creme (blue tub) as a facial moisturiser and it is amazing, leaves my skin beautifully nourished and smooth!! :) I thought it would be a bit heavy for the upcoming summer so decided to give this a try to use as a day cream/ in the summer. I used it for 3 days and for some reason i now have so much peely dry skin on my face (perhaps this is just the cream working? but i never get this with original nivea, i simply put it on and in th morning my dry patches have gone :)) Also, for some reason when i put this on yesterday it made my face sting :( Basically, not a very good cream for face, perhaps due to the high fragrance content? I will stick with my original Nivea creme, which is cooling, soothing, and incredibly smoothing (oooh ryhming! :))
To start of, I must say this is most certainly a hand-bag must have! (and man-bag must have?) Everyone needs a Vaseline tin! Infact the government should provide everyone with one! :P - Just due to the fact it is unisex and incredibly versatile - you can use it on your chapped lips, dry skin on elbows/knees, cuticles, I even heard some people say they use it on their eyelashes. I personally use vaseline as a cuticle softener, on my elbows if I'm wearing an elbow baring top! And also on my lips if i've misplaced or run out of lipbalm. Vaseline is just.. Vaseline! Everybody needs a tin of Vaseline!
As I have naturally black eyelashes, I'm not so into mascara - it's not something I use everyday, so I don't have much to compare this to. But generally here are my pros and cons on this product: Pros - Nice colour, very black. Cons - Gets clumpy (To combat this, i leave it on the radiator or steam it with an iron whilst getting ready to melt it - not really sure if this is something I should be reccomending or not..) - Very hard to reapply. I usually like to wear more than just the one coat of mascara on the occasions I do wear it, but with this particular product it is incredibly hard to do so. :( (It gets clumpy) - Not long lasting! I find little specks of mascara around my eyes after a few hours. Overall, I was not that impressed with this product, which is a shame because I was originally drawn in by the slogan 'Make-up used by make-up artists..' Yeah bloody right! Just another advertising scam!!
I brought this a few weeks back, as I am a lipbalm junkie!! I'm always trying out new products - I read a reccomendation for this particular product on MSN and therefore had to purchase it! I ordered the citrus flavour. Overall, this lipbalm is bloody fantastic! But there were a couple things I disliked. Pros -Incredibly moisturising! This lipbalm leaves your lips feeling beautifully smooth, and I feel this is one of those rare products that actually penetrates the top layer of your skin, as opposed to just sitting on top (Cough cough.. Vaseline!!). - 99.6% organic, no parabens, all that stuff. Don't know what that actually means, but it attracts me. -Beautiful scent :) I purchased the citrus scented balm, which smelled absolutely divine! At the same time, it is very lightly scented - nothing overpowering. On a side note, I loved the packaging!! :) Clean and simple. Cons - Didn't last very long - I'm not sure if this is due to my constant re-applying, or just the fact that there is not much product in the tube? Either way, I think Yestocarrots should make a jumbo edition of this lipbalm.. think treat soft candy size :), because my Yestocarrots balm was finished within two weeks!! - For some reason, a few days into my routine my lips started chapping (it wasn't due to the weather either?) my lips just started peeling. Maybe this was due to the lipbalm somehow removing dead skin cells off my lips? But anyhow I exfoliated my lips with a toothbrush and all the skin came off and left me with the smoothest softest lips i've had in a long time!! :D So, it was kindof a pro? I listed this as a con as Whenever I have chapped lips, I get an urge to bite of the peeling skin, which in turn makes my lips bleed... Ouch!! I would definitely buy this product again, but perhaps use it just a few times a week to exfoliate my lips with, because of the whole peeling issue.
