Lotions/ Creams -Clarins - Hand and Nail Treatment Cream
Anne1960 2/4/2011 12:08:00 PM
This and the L'Occitane shea butter hand cream are my HGs. I keep smelling my hands after I have put this on as the smell is so gorgeous! It absorbs quickly without any greasy residue and leaves my hands smooth and nicely moisturised. I have just finished my collection of handbag size tubes received with GWPs so will now have to fork out and purchase the full size - but it's definitely worth it!

Skincare - Face -MAC - Blot Film
Anne1960 1/31/2011 11:35:00 AM
Expensive (£10.50 for 30 sheets) but Clean and Clear, Estee Lauder's and Clinique's blotting sheets (which I used to use and were very happy with) have been discontinued here in the UK, Bobbi Brown's are like cheap toilet paper and smear the oil over my face and remove my make up, Shiseido's are powder coated (I don't want another powder coating on my face). The MAC sheets are similar to the C&C, EL and Clinique ones but about twice the size, so you could cut them in half They are double sided and do a very good job at removing excess oil without disturbing my make up. I do cringe when I hand over my £10, but unless they bring back C&C I will continue to purchase.

Tools -Bobbi Brown - Blotting Papers in faux-leather case
Anne1960 1/26/2011 8:35:00 AM
I used Clean and Clear blotting sheets for years, they were cheap and worked really well - then they were discontinued here in the UK. I have since tried Estee Lauder's and Clinique's - both discontinued! why?! The case for the Bobbi Brown blotting papers is really neat, saves me having to carry a mirror. The papers themselves are a good size - about the same size as MAC's - this is about the only good thing about them. They are crinkly with a waxy, tracing paper/cheap toilet paper texture. Need to use at least two on my not very oily face. They seem to smear the oil back onto my face and remove parts of my make up. Will definitely not repurchase.

Mascara -Max Factor - Masterpiece Max
Anne1960 12/20/2010 10:09:00 AM
My first drugstore mascara bought based on MUA reviews. I have used Lancome definicils, (alergic reaction) EL Sumptuous and CD Diorshow Extase (love the effect, hardly smudges, but they dried out after about a month), Clarins wonderlength (did absolutely nothing for my lashes) and YSL Everlong waterproof (smudged badly). I was getting fed up paying out over £20 every couple of months so decided to give this mascara a go. Brush is just the right size to reach small inner and outer lashes, lengthens, separates and volumises nicely. In the current very cold weather my eyes water and unfortunately this mascara does not stay put. I may try again in the summer.

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Everlong Waterproof
Anne1960 12/20/2010 9:51:00 AM
My first waterproof mascara, bought based on MUA reviews. Brush is too big making it dificult to reach the small inner and outer lashes without getting the mascara on eyelid and under lower lashes. Lengthens slightly, volumises hardly at all, clumps and flakes and makes my lashes look like spider legs. Worst thing is that it smudges badly after a few hours. Estee Lauder Sumptuous and CD Diorshow Extase, although not waterproof, have far superior staying power and do not smudge. Will definitely not repurchase.

Mascara -Estee Lauder - Sumptuous
Anne1960 5/21/2010 10:24:00 AM
My HG mascara for years had been Lancome Definicils, but I can no longer wear it as it makes my eyes red and puffy - I think they must have changed the formula. I think I have now found my new HG mascara. It really volumises and lifts, doesn't flake, doesn't make my eyelashes feel dry and brittle, removes easily with my Shu Uemura cleansing oil, but best of all it doesn't irritate my eyes. Will repurchase.

Lotions/ Creams -Clarins - Moisture-Rich Body Lotion
Anne1960 5/16/2010 7:07:00 AM
Bought this based on MUA reviews. It has really improved the appearance of my dry scaly legs and the bumps on my thighs and back of my arms have disappeared. Didn't find it too greasy as some reviewers have, it's quite concentrated and a little goes a long way. Would prefer if it was in a tub. When I couldn't squeeze any more out of the tube I cut off the top and there was enough left for another week's use. Quite expensive, but would repurchase.

Cleansers -Clarins - Water Comfort One Step Cleanser
Anne1960 5/16/2010 6:46:00 AM
Got this as part of a gwp. I use it as a toner in the evening after removing my make up with Shu Uemura cleansing oil and the Clarins gentle foaming cleanser for dry skin - I like to make absolutely sure all my make up is removed. I don't think this cleanser alone would be enough. I use it in the morning after the foaming cleanser. Really gorgeous smell - would repurchase.

Moisturizers -Clarins - Hydra Quench Cream
Anne1960 5/16/2010 6:36:00 AM
My previously combination skin recently developed dry flakey patches on my forehead and on the lines between my nose and mouth. I bought the hydraquench cream based on the MUA reviews. After less than week's use all the dry patches have gone. I don't find it too rich for my less dry areas and my foundation goes on very nicely. I will definitely repurchase.

Mascara -Shu Uemura - Mascara Basic [DISCONTINUED]
Anne1960 5/16/2010 6:28:00 AM
My absolute favourite mascara for years had been Lancome Definicils, however I think they must have changed the formula as it now leaves my eyes red and puffy. The Shu basic mascara lenghtens and thickens my lashes nicely, it does smudge a little which I could put up with - but it dries out after a month. For this reason alone I will not repurchase.

Mascara -Lancome - Definicils Mascara
Anne1960 5/16/2010 6:22:00 AM
My absolute favourite mascara for years had been Lancome Definicils, however I think they must have changed the formula as it now leaves my eyes red and puffy - for this reason alone I won't buy it again. It lengthened and thickened my lashes and didn't smudge. The search for my HG mascara continues!

Mascara -Clarins - Wonder Length Mascara
Anne1960 5/16/2010 6:15:00 AM
My absolute favourite mascara for years had been Lancome Definicils, however I think they must have changed the formula as it now leaves my eyes red and puffy. I bought Clarins Wonderlength based on the MUA reviews. I really wanted to like it as I get on really well with Clarins skincare. The wand is very long which I found tricky to use, and the brush is very thin and picks up too much mascara. Apart from the fact that it smudged and the effect was quite disappointing, it too made my eyes red and puffy. The search for my HG Mascara continues!
