Mascara -Laura Mercier - Thickening & Building mascara
Anitag 6/17/2011 2:32:00 PM
I am mascara obsessed at the moment... on the search for my HG mascara, that manages to give my already long lashes more thickness and hold a curl. Well as it turns out, it isn't this one! I got a small size of this, thankfully and could not believe how much this mascara smudged, I've never had any mascara smudge on me ever, this is the first. The day I wore it I thought maybe I had used too much eyeliner (liquid pen), but the one I use has never smudged on me. Then I read reviews on this from MUA, (albeit a bit late) and saw the low ratings, comments on smudging and thought, crap it's this mascara! I will say the one thing in it's favour is the brush, but you can get cheaper mascara's with a similar brush.

Eyeliner -Shiseido - Integrate
Anitag 5/21/2011 11:48:00 AM
I have the liquid eyeliner pen version and it's the best eyeliner I have used! I only line my upper lash line and this has a sharp, fine pen/ brush type applicator (known as a sharpie) that allows me to control the line and darken the lash line so my lashes appear thicker. You don't have to shake it (like the Shiseido 'the makeup' one) however it's not refillable, but I use it daily and it's lasted for over a year and causes me no irritation whatsoever. It's a true black colour, and stays all day but comes off easily with water. I highly recommend this for a natural defined look on the lash line. I have tried it on the lower lash line and it's perfectly fine. If you are looking for a thicker line then you could probably do it, but it would take a few strokes so maybe not so good for that. When this eventually runs out, I will definitely buy again.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express One by One
Anitag 4/28/2011 3:20:00 PM
I would give this 0. Bought this with high hopes for a fuller volume look on my longish med lashes, what did I get? A bad reaction is what!! I read the ingrediants list after washing this stuff off fast and realised it contains a whole load of fruit oils including Lemon. I took it back to where I bought it and got a full refund. Usually I'm fine with maybelline mascaras, but this was a big NO for me. Whilst on my lashes they just looked clumpy and horrible - I'll stick with Full n'soft.

Lip Treatments -Vaseline - Lip Therapy
Anitag 3/18/2011 9:56:00 AM
I have this in the green Aloe vera variation and all I can say is it's HG the best lip balm I've used and one of the cheapest! I have very dry pigmented lips and I must have bought nearly every brand of lip balm high to low end on the market, no joke. I just can't believe that after spending so much and buying into that 'don't use petroleum jelly' blurb, this is one of the few that actually work and also has a very short list of ingrediants. My test for any lip balm is when I use it at night, if my lips are dry in the morning then I consider it a no no. NB:Vaseline have just brought out one's in stick form of all varieties, but they have different and longer list of ingrediants, so I'll stay with this one in the tin.

Fragrances -Gucci - Gucci Guilty
Anitag 2/27/2011 11:38:00 AM
I haven't really thought much of any of Gucci's recent fragrance releases (since Tom Ford left) and unfortunately Guilty is just the same. A non-offensive fruity floral - nothing great just one of many already out there which are probably cheaper. Not for me but A++ for the packaging, which is probably where they spent most of the budget!

Lipstick -MAC - Matte - Taupe
Anitag 2/27/2011 11:15:00 AM
Over the years I have purcahsed numerous MAC lipsticks but tend not to use them after a while as they either dry out my lips or I just go off the colour. I have dark pigmented lips that look two toned! I put this lipstick on and voila! it evens out my lips so they are overall a natural colour. The thing is I bought this some time back and used it now and then, but in the meantime I was purchasing God knows how many other lipsticks and treaments i.e lip lighteners, Dior, Lancome E Lauder. Expensive to cheap, I tried so many all in order to solve my lip problem. I had an old Maybelline moisture whip mochachinno colour which I really liked, but the lasting power was not good. I went to the MAC store in Westfield shopping centre and this really helpful SA matched this shade to the Maybelline one. If only I had just stuck with that I could have saved so much money, as nothing has matched it. Although this can be drying, (I just add a little gloss), it is also one of the only colours that stays on my lips even after eating. Taupe is one of the few lipsticks (of any brand), which I actually may finish and would definitely re-purchase.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Senational - Autumn Rush
Anitag 2/13/2011 10:35:00 AM
Autumn Rush is a brown pink shade, which on my skin tone (BB Honey) and pigmented lips, is MLBB. I love everything about this lipstick, it's formulation is one of the very few that doesn't dry out my lips, has good pigment coverage and unbelieveably also a drugstore brand. I have bought so many lipsticks and glosses from high-end to low-end and hardly finish/use them as they dry my lips out. MAC has great colors, but even with lipbalm they dry my lips out like crazy. I ended up buying this shade and Crazy for coffee - it's more of a darker brown/pink, with some red in it. Autumn Rush would look great on anyone with tan-dark skin tones, who is looking for a natural pink brown. This shade and moisturizing, pigmented formulation of these lipsticks in general are excellent and comparable to any more expensive brand, definitely a HG for me, which I would highly recommend and definitely buy again. Lasting power isn't great, but not many lipstick formulars last on me anyway. Love the smell and packaging - similar to Lancome ones, who L'oreal also own.

Lip Treatments -Yes To Carrots - lip butter
Anitag 12/11/2010 11:32:00 AM
Got this in the original flavour - Carrots, on the rec of a E Lauder SA, funnily enough! I was intending to buy the Natio paw paw lip balm, but there was only one left and it had been used. The SA said that she had tried it and it wasn't all that, she actually recommended this one and said that other SA also said it was good. I had tried all the variations of Burts bees, trying to convince myself that it was any good, but it just wasn't moisturising enough for me! I have pigmented dark lips that are dry, with cracks (I know it can't get any worse!). I have been using lipsticks, mainly matt ones to cover the pigmentation, with balm underneath. This stuff actually manages to moisturise and sort of even out my natural lip colour on it's own, so that it's more pinker (natural not fushia) and even toned. I presume this is due to hydration by this balm. It has more slip than B Bees, which may be why some people don't like it, but this stuff works for me. I will definitely try more flavours and the tinted ones next.

Fragrances -Lancaster - Lancaster
Anitag 11/28/2010 11:49:00 AM
I had been wanting to try this for quite while as recommended by Gimferrer, and happened across a 50ml bottle in TK Mexx for really cheap, which I'm glad that I got it. This is similar to Eau de Rochas, but not as strong and on me with less of the oakmoss than EDRochas, which I prefer. It's a citrus/chypre fragrance, but light at the same time and inoffensive. Appropriate for daywear, but as it's an EDT, the staying power isn't more than a an hour at the most on me.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - J Del Pozo Esencia De Duende EDT
Anitag 11/26/2010 8:25:00 AM
I really like this scent. As others have mentioned it's very inoffensive and 'safe'. It's floral but retains a freshness and at the same time doesn't smell like all the other fresh floral scents out there. The bottle is certainly interesting, however the lid on mine keeps falling off which is a little annoying. I understand that this is very popular in spain - as that's where its from. I got mine from a local perfumery at a good price and although I have a vast collection of fragrances this is one of a few that my DH has actually commented (positively!) on! Definitely worth trying.

Fragrances -Bulgari - Rose Essentielle EDP - limted edition
Anitag 11/9/2010 5:03:00 PM
I tested this out for a good month or so before buying, which is a first for me. As I don't really go for rose fragrances. I prefer citrus or darker amber fragrance and hate anything sugary or sweet with vanilla, however I really like this. It's not too sweet or powdery but manages to be light, with the blackberry giving a nice slight sharpness. The staying power is pretty good for this EDP, with the dry down on my skin smelling similar to Narcisco Rodrigues for Her oddly enough!

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - HIP Shine Struck Liquid Lipcolor, Pretentious
Anitag 9/24/2010 4:33:00 PM
I bought 2 HIP Liquid lip colors and absolutely love them. Aswell as I Pretentious I aslo bought Reseved, (more pinky). They're a cross between a lipstick and gloss which I really like and the color payoff is very good, as a lot of drugstore glosses don't even show on my lips (i.e Maybelline), with no shimmer, which is another plus for me as I can't stand shimmer!. Both of these come out natural shades on my pigmented two toned lips and manage to even them out. When they wear off after eating/drinking they still leave enough product so that I can see something (even if others can't!) and more importantly they don't dry out my lips, just moisturize without stickiness, are not 'over-shiny' and contain No shimmer. I don't particulary like the feeling of heavy lipstick and have dry lips during the winter months, these are not heavy at all. The only thing that I dislike about them slightly is the fragrance - sweet cake batter, but thankfully, it fades soon after application. I think these have been discontinued, as per usual, I find something I like and it gets binned!!!

Fragrances -Jo Malone - Blue Agava and Cacao
Anitag 9/22/2010 6:15:00 PM
I have a small 9ml bottle of Blue Algava & Cacao, that came in a Jo Malone set. As a lover of citrus and chypre fragrances I have always liked Jo malone, as citrus is featured prominantly in most of her scents. Blue Algava and Cacao was one that I never really considered as I'm not a vanilla fan. None the less I wore it a few times and have discovered I quite like it. More importantly out o fthe 100 odd perfumes I have in my collection, this is one of a few that actually last on me, in fact I can smell this even after a shower! I noticed in the base notes there is something called Chypre Cocoa, which I've never heard of, along with vetyver and cinnamon which keep the vanilla from turning sickly sweet. As I change fragrances frequently (looking for my HG), if I ever finish my small bottle I would definitely get a full size.

Fragrances -Coty - Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker
Anitag 8/12/2010 10:04:00 AM
I initially purchased this in 2006, my first and only celebrity fragrance, but gave it away as I found it a little B.O smelling on me. Fast forward to 2010 and I find myself with another bottle. Everyone I know who encounters this fragrance says its 'nice and light'. I have a huge collection of fragrances (over 100) and this is one of the very few that my DH actually says smells 'nice'. Most so called 'fragrance experts', have only good things to say about it and so I succumbed and decided to give it another go. Well all I can says is its 'nice'. It gets compared a lot with NR for her, one of SJP's long term favourite designers and friend, however NR is more stronger and can be a little headache inducing for me. SJP wanted Lovely to be a 'very soft, quiet fragrance' - well I would certainly agree. I also have the serum wand in this, however for an oil the staying power is only about an hour on me!
