ugh ugh ugh. i HATED this product. and i am a YSL fan in general. always re-buy their mascara and love teint parfait. this however was vile. i was pushed into it by the SA at selfridges (unusual for me because i never get pushed into stuff; are YSL salespeople the pushiest ever or something??) In a word, it is horrible. had no brightening effect apart from a weird glittery finish that i happen to hate. and worst of all, after only 1 use it broke me out in big lumpy spots. i hate it and will never repurchase. money down the drain. if you like glowy/shimmery products that are somewhere between skincare and makeup, try clarins beauty flash. i also love love love guerlain meteorites liquid/gel and nars orgasm in the tube. ANYTHING but this ysl disaster!!!

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre Lipstick - Pretty Please
rated 4 of 5
AngelaW 4/3/2011 4:25:00 AM

love this lipstick but then i am a nude lip obsessive - only other shades i use are mac's myth and creme de nude. This is a nice daytime nudey pink for me, as others have said a good alternative to a gloss. it's not glossy as such but a little shimmery. i love it more the more i use it. will repurchase!

Lipstick -MAC - Cremesheen - Creme d'Nude
rated 3 of 5

I like this lipstick as an easier-to-wear and therefore daytime alternative to Myth. If you love Myth you will (probably) like this, it is a similar shade but easier to wear, though you dont get that lovely blotted-out effect that I happen to love about Myth. I have quite large and fairly highly pigmented lips, so nude lipsticks are a big obsession, I need them pigmented enough to wipe out my natural color otherwise they dont seem to really work on me. And Creme d'nude does what i want, just not as effectively as Myth. Less drying though.

Polishes -NARS - Orgasm
rated 1 of 5
AngelaW 1/20/2011 11:42:00 AM

Horrid horrid horrid polish. The color is a tacky-looking gold and the consistency felt glittery. Took it off as soon as I put it on. Just vile. I love NARS, I love the Orgasm blush and the cream cheek color, but this was just horrible.

Treatments -Ren - Rose Synergy O12 Restoring Facial Serum
rated 5 of 5
AngelaW 6/13/2009 10:47:00 AM

Incredible stuff - I only bought it as a special treat, to use occasioanly if my skin felt extra dry, or tired. And now I am such an addict that it is my regular night 'cream'. I LOVE this stuff with a passion. I use it over the REN H11 night serum, and my skin has reached new heights of glowiness. DH pinches it too, which is a shame as it is pricey - but I think I'd happily forgo food/clothes/wine to make sure I could afford this stuff. A treat to use, wonderful fresh rosey scent, and the bottle is hygenic and stylish. I did love the Frankicense Repair Creme but this has replaced it in my affections.

Lipstick -MAC - Satin Lipstick - Myth
rated 5 of 5
AngelaW 5/11/2009 12:04:00 PM

My HG nude. I mix this with a little balm - not too much because I really love the matte look of this l/s - and on me it goes on sooooo pretty. To me it's a true nude - blots out a lot of my own lip colour, but that's exactly the effect I look for in a nude. My lips are quite rosy and full and I want a nude that tones that right down so it works with a smoky eye, or for a chic bare-faced look for day. Other nudes I have tried (and liked) have too much pink or peach for me, and/or not enough pigment, so they don't fade out my own colour and the l/s colour then clashes a little with my pinkish lips! This is a little drying, which is partly why I use the balm beneath it. And I don't reapply as much as I might otherwise, because of the dryness. But it stays on pretty well, even with balm, so reapplying not an issue. This is the only l/s my DH has ever commented on that he likes - usually he prefers my lips in clear gloss. But this just seems to 'finish' my lips perfectly. Love it and will repurchase for as long as they keep making it!

Lip Gloss -Boots - No7 Liplicious lip gloss
rated 4 of 5
AngelaW 1/19/2009 12:08:00 PM

I was given a selection of small (5ml) sizes of these for Xmas, and so far I'm really enjoying trying them out. My faves are Caramel, which is a sophisticated, useful nude, and Jellybean, which is a terrific fuchsia, not a colour I'd EVER usually try, but just a little dab and spread out over lips, it looks like I've been eating strawberries! I have a couple of other shades too but I'm not as sure about them - Candyfloss looks a bit glittery for me but there are good reviews of it on here, so will try it out. They don't have amazing lasting power, but I don't know a lip-gloss that does. Not too sticky at all for me, and not drying. If I'm being honest, the main problem is that they're a Boots No 7 product! I'm not a snob but I do usually buy more expensive and/or covetable brands than this. But I will definitely stop being silly about brands and repurchase these, because they work so well.

Treatments -Bumble & Bumble - Bumble and Bumble Creme de Coco Masque
rated 5 of 5
AngelaW 1/8/2009 6:49:00 AM

I'd used this for the recommended 7 minutes a few times and liked it but didn't love it. Probably wouldn't have re-purchased as it was no better than a lot of the deep treatment masks I use (at least twice a week!) on my very hard-to-manage, coarse, not-at-all shiny hair. But last night I left it in for about 2 hours, under a shower cap and a towel - and all I can say is WOW. My hair is honestly like silk, plus it is actually SHINY for a change! It's a little more flyaway than usual today but I think that will settle by tomorrow - and flyaway is something I don't mind when I usually have to cope with heavy, thick and coarse hair. I have used Phyto's deep treatments, and I do like them, and Frederic Fekkai's, which I didn't repurchase, but this has just become my HG deep masque. Smell is divine if you like coconut ( most people do!). It may not be cheap but nor are any of the other masques I use and it has so far proved far more effective.

Sunscreen -Clinique - Super City Block SPF 40
rated 4 of 5
AngelaW 12/8/2008 12:47:00 PM

Decent consistency, nice neutral colour. Does the perfect job of protecting patches of my very fair skin that tend to get pigmented if I'm out and about in sunlight. Use it religiously on upper lip area where I had a horrible patch of slightly darkened skin from UV rays, and it has prevented it from re-occuring while time has faded it out. This product can be a little bit drying but I just use extra moisturiser if that is the case. Not flashy or exciting to use, but a great product. I will continue to buy this unless one of my favourite brands (don't know why but I'm just not a Clinique fan) brings out a good alternative.

Treatments -Boots - no7 Protect and Perfect beauty serum

AngelaW 12/8/2008 12:39:00 PM

REally didn't like this. Got it in a sample and hated it so much I only used it once - rare for me as I like to try samples properly. Dried my skin out and felt very 'silicone-y' - very wierd sensation on my skin. I'm used to using brands like Ren and Caudalie that are much more 'natural' and so I really am not used to/do not like the silicone feel. I'd rather pay more for a Ren product than use this - so although it is not expensive I have scroed it low on price because I think it is bad value. EDIT - I have now started to use this on a sun-damaged area of my chest because I'm not so picky about the siliconey feeling when it's not my face. It seems OK - not a miracle worker by any means but then this area is quite badly lined. I'll carry on using it as I've not found anything else at this kind of price that I think is any better. But I still don't think it's great value because the bottle is actually pretty small and you do get through it quickly.

Treatments -Ren - Revivo-lift H11 intensive night serum
rated 5 of 5
AngelaW 10/8/2008 8:26:00 AM

Terrific product. I am 32 and avoid the sun and don't smoke, so luckily I haven't seen many lines yet. So this product may not be right for people with more concerns about lines. But this seems ot keep my frown line between brows at bay. Plus it has a lovely effect on my skin, making it glowy and smooth. If I'm very tired and want a real boost I use it under Midnight Secret - but I try not to do that too often becuase I don't want to diminish the effect!! Usually I use it under Ren's Frankincense Repair Creme and it's a great combination. Not oily or clogging, lovely clean packaging, light fresh scents. Good value, I think, given the prices of some anti-ageing ranges. I have been using this for over a year now and love it.

Self Tanners -Clarins - Radiance-Plus Self-Tanning Cream-Gel
rated 5 of 5
AngelaW 10/8/2008 8:21:00 AM

I've been buying this for several years now and will continue to buy it for as long as they sell it! Great natural colour - though I am very pale and I certainly need to use it 2 days in a row to see the benefits. But 2 days in a row gives a terrific natural glow that makes me look healthy. People always comment that I'm looking well when I use this - and sometimes comment that I'm looking 'tired' etc when I'm not using it!! I have good glowy skin but without this lotion I look very pasty indeed. Great packaging, decent price, never breaks me out, pleasant enough smell. Strangely I don't use the matching body lotion - I've tried it but prefer both Johnson's Holiday skin and St Tropez Everyday for Fair to Medium. Really an excellent product if you're very fair and want a light natural glow.

Powder -Laura Mercier - Mineral Powder SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
AngelaW 7/30/2008 8:32:00 AM

A greta product. I have tried other mineral powders occasionally but didn't like them as much as this. I specifically bought this in a panic because i had this awful grey mustache-like shadow under the skin on my top lip, I think caused by a bad lip wax. Anyway, I had a wedding to go to and really didn't want to be feeling self-conscious! So I dashed out to the nearest department store (I was in Denmark) and bought this. It works like a dream. Total coverage, but not in a cakey way. I got talked into buying the brush to go with it, which I probably would not normally have done (I don't like being pushed into things my sales assistants) but in this case I was really desperate. And I'm glad I did - I don't know if application is so much better with this brush, but certainly I love using it and it does seem to help the product go on like it's designed to. Basically, the powder completely covered the patch I was feeling anxious about, and stayed on for the entire wedding (about 8 hours) without slipping or sliding off. I will repurchase this as soon as I've used it up. Am a big fan of LM in general, so I don't baulk at the prices by now, but it is a little on the pricey side. Is my only criticism.

Treatments -Guerlain - Midnight Secret

Have been meaning to try this for ages and then I was at copenhagen airport with kroner to use up and so decided to take the plunge and buy it. I've used it twice now and I'm not disappointed. First thing - the smell is GORGEOUS. So lovely I'd almost consider using it for that alone! Even nicer than Jurlique products - a fresh, rose smell that's not sweet. It's nice to use - smooth and just like a serum to apply. So, the effect - well, both times I have used this, my DH has woken up in the morning and the first thing he has said to me was - "you look so pretty!" The sceond time in particular he did not even know I had used anything different on my face. So if nothing else this is proof that for me the product works. However, both times I have used it I have not been suffering from very little sleep - maybe this would be the real test of the product. I had been drinking quite a lot the second time though, and usually wake up looking a little more grey and puffy than I did. Expensive but a gorgeous treat, and for me, it works very well.

Highlighters -Yves Saint Laurent - Teint Parfait Complexion Enhancer Oil-free
rated 5 of 5
AngelaW 1/5/2007 1:00:00 PM

Glowy, not shiny or glittery, gorgeous stuff. Best used on basically clear skin - I never use it if I'm feeling cr*p about my skin, which I suppose is a down-side. Makeup is meant to make you feel better! But if you're having a good skin day, it's the best! Gives you such a glow
