Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush in Pinch Me
AllAboutLips 1/20/2009 10:52:00 PM
Once again, MAC Sheertone blushes just rock! I was looking for something to give me a pop of colour on my cheeks, and the MA at MAC suggested Pinch Me. At first, the colour looked pretty vibrant and scared me a bit. But once applied, I loved the finished result: a fresh, sheer berry wash of colour that brightened my face. It kinda imitates that flushed look you get when you've been walking in the cold outdoors! Looks great when I wear it with my Hot Tahiti lipstick, which the MA also suggested when I purchased Pinch Me. Would definitely repurchase.

Crème -MAC - Select SPF 15 Moistureblend [DISCONTINUED]
AllAboutLips 1/20/2009 10:48:00 PM
I was looking for a moisturizing foundation for winter, as my usual Studio Fix fluid seemed to reveal my dry areas around my nose, thus wasn't moisturizing enough for me. The MA at MAC suggested Moistureblend. I tried it out for a month and found that it certainly did keep my skin moisturized, however it was a bit too greasy for me. I could feel a thick layer on top of my skin, even though I blended it endlessly. Went to exchange it for another reco: Studio Tech. Let's hope this one works better! As for Moistureblend, I wouldn't repurchase.

Moisturizers -Kiehls - Ultra Facial Cream
AllAboutLips 1/20/2009 10:43:00 PM
So far, the best cream for my combination skin for winter time. Far better than their Moisturizer, which I find just sits on the skin. This light cream is absorbed into my skin and it leaves it nicely moisturized, and not tight or greasy at all. Wish it wasn't a jar formula though. But I'd definitely repurchase.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Blot Powder - Medium/Dark
AllAboutLips 4/19/2007 12:14:00 AM
This is my HG of powders! Great for setting my SF fluid and to blot oily areas during the day. Just wish it would provide a round sponge instead of the cloth pad it comes with. Instead, I replace the pad with a foundation wedge and use that to apply it for touch-ups. Does a good job of mattifying my oily t-zone without a cakey finish. Love this product!

Fragrances -Jo Malone - Pomegranate Noir
AllAboutLips 2/9/2007 11:25:00 PM
When I first smelled this scent, it didn't appeal to me. But when I applied it on top of Vintage Gardenia, it was amazing! This is my favorite combination. It tones down the floralness of VG and just gives it this nice depth, which I think makes for a great winter fragrance.

Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Creamy Moisturizing Oil
AllAboutLips 2/9/2007 11:19:00 PM
This is definitely my holy grail during the winter! Initially, I was worried that this product would be really greasy and oily, but it's not at all! It's just as the title says: it's creamy, watery texture and not oily at all...and it's super-moisturizing! Plus I can't get enough of its scent, like yummy oatmeal! It's almost like comfort food but for the body!

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Shimmer - Peachtwist
AllAboutLips 4/22/2006 2:25:00 AM
One of my favourite blushes from MAC. It's not as bright as Peachykeen and not as dark as Sunbasque. When applied lightly (careful because it is a bit more pigmented than the other Sheertones), it gives a nice glow-like finish, subtle and flattering. I'm an NC42 in SF fluid.

Liquid -MAC - Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15
AllAboutLips 4/22/2006 2:18:00 AM
I absolutely LOVE this foundation!! I was previously using the SF powder foundation, but I found it to look a bit too matte and powdery looking. But when I found out that a liquid version came out, I was so excited! I like to apply it with the foundation brush, and I also use it as my under-eye concealer. That's what I love about this, it's got medium coverage that's buildable and looks natural at the same time. Finish with a light dusting of Blot powder (I just used the pressed version but apply it with a big powder brush) and I'm set for the day! And the best thing: it doesn't feel heavy or cakey, but almost like nothing on your skin!!! Oh, and the spf is definitely an added bonus. This is MAC's best invention ever!

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Honey I Washed the Kids soap
AllAboutLips 9/15/2003 10:11:00 PM
I have to say that this is the BEST soap ever made by LUSH! I love its sweet, but not overpowering scent of honey. It smells like honey mixed with sweet milk, and caramel or toffee. You'd think it was edible once you sniff it, seriously! Pineapple Grunt was formerly my fave LUSH soap, but this definitely replaces it. Truly a must-buy for those who like sweet, foody scents.

Blush -Origins - Brush on Color - Bronzed Metal
AllAboutLips 4/27/2003 2:49:00 AM
Absolutely love this blush, especially when I want a sunkissed look. Bronzed Metal can be a blush and a bronzer; it's a soft, coppery-bronze shade with shimmer, almost looks sheer. Good packaging comes with a decent-size mirror and mini brush that does an OK job, but I still prefer my MAC 129 blush brush! A bit pricy, but it's easy to use and is a great shade to have for summer.

Lotions/ Creams -Aveda - Hand Relief
AllAboutLips 2/3/2003 9:47:00 PM
I purchased the travel-size tube to test it out, and so far, I've been pleased with the results! Hand Relief has kept my hands soft and smooth after constant hand-washing and harsh winter weather. I love the sweet, lemony scent, and the texture is creamy and perfect, not too thin or thick, somewhere in between. Once I've finished the travel size, I'll definitely purchase the full-size tub. The only downside: it's pretty expnsive, $28CDN. Otherwise, it does the job: it's moisturizing without being greasy.

Lotions/ Creams -Origins - A Perfect World Body Lotion
AllAboutLips 1/1/2003 4:18:00 PM
I absolutely love this lotion! It's got a peachy/apricot scent that is sweet, yet subtle. I use it as an all-over body lotion, as well as a hand lotion during the day at the office; my co-workers love the scent, too! As for its texture, it's not as thick as their souffles, but not as thin as the body balm, just somewhere smack in the middle! It sinks into my skin upon application, and doesn't leave me feeling greasy at all. This is perfect during the winter; I usually suffer from dry skin on my legs, but APW lotion has left my skin feeling soft, smooth and itch-free. While it is quite expensive for a body lotion, I'd definitely buy it again.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush in Blushbaby
AllAboutLips 1/1/2003 4:07:00 PM
This is the perfect medium rosey-brownish color (no shimmer) to achieve that "just came from a brisk walk" look. I apply it to the apples of my cheeks, and it looks soft, rosy and very natural. My BF said I looked like I was glowing, and my co-worker thought I was blushing naturally! Before this, I normally didn't wear any blush, but Sheertone blushes are very easy to use and buildable; you don't have to worry about applying too much at the first application. I think Blushbaby would suit medium to dark skin tones, especially if you want to achieve that flushed look. Just perfect for my C35 coloring!

Lotions/ Creams -Origins - Ginger souffle
AllAboutLips 3/21/2002 2:20:00 AM
I heard many raves about this product, so I asked a fellow MUAer to send me a sample since it isn't available in Canada. When I first smelled it, I was a bit overwhelmed by its intensity. But I grew to like it, and now I absolutely love it! Personally, I don't smell any ginger; I found it to be more of a citrus scent that is strong, but not overpowering; it's a pleasant citrus scent. The lemon and lime scents really stood out. I just love the texture of the souffle, it's so soft and creamy, and just glides onto your skin so smoothly without leaving it greasy. The scent is somewhat noticeable after a while, but not very long-lasting. Overall, I love this product and would buy it!

Hair -KMS California - Silkier Shampoo
AllAboutLips 2/28/2002 3:47:00 AM
This shampoo did not make my hair silkier as it is intended to, but it didn't dry it out either. Basically, there wasn' a difference in my hair's texture and feel. I love anything that smells like cherries and almonds, which is another reason why i wanted to try this shampoo, but the scent was too faint and not as good as Aveda's color-depositing shampoos (Blue malva, Black malva, etc.). However, I do like the fact that they come in travel sizes and have easy flip-top lid packaging.
