This works well in the sense that you can quickly and easily give yourself a french manicure, but the color is just too opaque and stark white for me - even with several coats of sheer pink polish over it, the white is just too bright. I know that some people prefer it this way, but I think it looks tacky and very unnatural. I would buy this again if it came in an off-white color.

I left a review for this product in general, but wanted to strongly recommend this color. It looks incredibly natural, but really defines your lip line and makes you look more "polished" without being super made-up. Depending on how much you put on and whether you blot it before it dries, it can vary a lot in terms of darkness but looks great either way. I can wear it to job interviews to look classy or out at night to give me sexy darker lips.

I was amazed to see all of the negative reviews here; this is my HG lipcolor. I bought it in Bare Maximum on a whim at the drugstore and haven't touched my other lipsticks since. Like all products of this type, you need to be careful putting it on, but once you do, it stays all day. I've never had a problem with the texture - the color I use is fairly light so I don't need to put on a ton for full coverage, so maybe if you really layer it on it'll feel weird. Personally, I forget that I'm wearing anything. I like the accompanying gloss because you can put just a dab on to keep your lips moist, or more to have a nice shine. It's not disgustingly sticky like the stuff that comes with Maybelline's Superstay line. And if you don't like the gloss, either because of the texture or the way it looks, you can use any other gloss or lip balm you want and the color will stay just the same. If you want to mute the color a little, put on the gloss before it's completely dry and blot your lips. This is never drying or flaky on me. As long as my lips are in good condition when I put it on, they'll stay that way all day. They'll FEEL dry later if you don't reapply the gloss, but at least in my color it still looks great, just very matte. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Lip Treatments -Beauticontrol - Lip Apeel

This is the first product I have purchased because of reading good reviews on MUA. I have had chapped lips for my entire life, and have never been able to wear lipstick because it looks disgusting on my peeling lips, so I was desperate for something to make them pretty! The packaging for Lip Apeel is clever (as is the name), the process is fun if a little messy when rubbing it off, and most importantly my lips are softer than they have ever felt before. The lip balm has a delicious light citrus smell and goes on soooo smooothly, although I'm curious to try it separately. I paid a mere $12.50 and can tell that it will last for ages, because you don't need much at all. Is it possible that I've found a HG product on my very first try? I'm going to use this once or twice a week and will update when I see how it works with continued use. UPDATE: I find that it only takes my lips a day or two to get chapped again, even with religious use of lip balm. So this is an awesome product, but the effects aren't especially long-lasting.
