Palettes -Victoria's Secret - Ultimate Makeup Kit - (50 must-haves for eyes, lips and face)
rated 5 of 5
Akidrad 12/26/2010 3:06:00 AM

I'm surprised there are so few reviews on this wonderful makeup kit! This quality of makeup in this kit is really excellent for the price, and the colors are beautiful. The shadows are creamy and pigmented, and almost all of the colors are wearable for a day look. With a primer, they last all day and blend beautifully. I like the mix of glosses and the blushes/highlighter in the bottom tray are very pretty. Overall, the quality is great for the price and MUCH better quality than the stuff in Coastal Scents 88-palettes that everyone raves about. I gave one of these to my friend as a birthday present and she texted me later in the week that she loves the kit. I couldn't resist the cute packaging and bought one for myself as well, and I'm very pleased with my purchase. The kit has everything, so it's great for travel too. The only downsides: the packaging is a glossy black, so fingerprints will show up easily. Also, the included brushes are not that great, but they never are and I use my own anyways, so that's no biggie. Overall, I highly recommend this kit (and it's on clearance now at VS.com!).

Other -Crest - Pro Health Clinical Gum Protection
rated 1 of 5
Akidrad 12/18/2010 12:27:00 AM

This product made the inside of my mouth peel. I know it sounds crazy (and I thought I was the only person this happened to, until I saw the other reviews on here) but it's true. Crest makes some great toothpastes, but avoid this one unless you want to wipe film from the inside of your mouth. Gross! This tube went straight into the trash.

Styling Products -Garnier - Fructis XXL Volume Thickening Mousse Extreme
rated 2 of 5
Akidrad 12/18/2010 12:24:00 AM

The product smells good, but it provided no volume for my fine, wavy, normal/dry hair. I tried it on several occasions, using both more and less of the product. I blow dried my hair upside down and hoped for the best, but it actually left my hair MORE greasy, rather than providing volume or hold. After being disappointed with this product, I tried the Got2Be Collagen volumizing mousse and it was MUCH better (though, admittedly, it doesn't smell as nice). Still, my favorite volumizing product is the Matrix Biolage gel, but it is more expensive.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Cremesheen Glass in Partial to Pink
rated 5 of 5
Akidrad 12/16/2010 11:49:00 PM

Ok, so I am cheap when it comes to makeup. This was the first expensive lipgloss I bought in my life (and I'm 25!) and I've already repurchased it because I ran out. I LOVE this color on my fair skin, the texture sits perfectly on my lips, it's a GREAT alternative to a nude lip color that makes me look dead. This makes my lips look plump and beautiful and naturally like a barbie. And I should mention, since I'm cheap I was looking for a color dupe for this and couldn't find one in a gloss. But, Rimmel's Airy Fairy is a very close color dupe, and with a layer of gloss on top it's a pretty close match for this. LOVE IT!

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Airy Fairy
rated 5 of 5
Akidrad 12/16/2010 11:45:00 PM

I bought this based off the great reviews here and I'm SO glad! This is a gorgeous, natural, slightly shimmery pink that looks beautiful with my pale skin. Color-wise, this is an almost perfect dupe for my beloved MAC Creemesheen in Partial to Pink (which, by the way, is far more pricey and has no gloss dupes!). I also adore the smell of the lippie, it's sweet and tropical (good for kissing). Thanks MUA members for recommending this!

Eye Shadow -NYX - Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil - Milk
rated 5 of 5
Akidrad 12/16/2010 11:39:00 PM

I was looking for a soft white eyeliner for my waterline - and I got all that and so much more with NYX's milk! First, it's buttery soft and easy to apply. The color is bright white and very blendable. It works on the waterline, or as a base for eye shadow. It's great for light-skinned complexions because it helps the eyeshadows really POP and stay all day. Some people here complain of creasing, but I haven't had any problems with creasing when I use this as a base (I just put a thick swipe on my lashline and little swipe under my browbone and blend it onto the entire lid, so it's not too thick). Overall, I am new to NYX and I am LOVING their products; they are super affordable and high quality. I don't have an Ulta near my house, so I buy them off of Ebay where they are super cheap and shipping is fast. Highly recommended!

Treatments (Eye) -Kinerase - Restructure Firming Eye Cream
rated 2 of 5
Akidrad 12/16/2010 11:33:00 PM

I used this product religiously for 6 months and saw no results - no firming, no reduction of fine lines, no reduction of under-eye circles, and really nothing at all! I am 25 years old with fair skin and I'm starting to get wrinkles around my eyes because I smile a lot and I have very thin skin around my eyes. I bought this to "firm things up" a bit and hopefully see a reduction of my fine lines. Well, after spending the ridiculous amount of money that this costs, I have to report that I saw no results. I kept using it, hoping there would be some difference and it was all a waste. It does moisturize, but it doesn't sink in. Seriously, buy a $10 Eucerin moisturizer from the drugstore and you'll get all the same benefits you would have gotten from this. I bought this on Sephora because of all the great reviews. I'm so disappointed that I fell for all the positive reviews on Sephora, because this product was a waste. I seriously question who writes reviews on Sephora. Anyway, don't buy the hype. Save your cash and don't buy this...

Eye Makeup Remover -Lancome - Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Make-up Remover
rated 3 of 5
Akidrad 10/17/2010 4:38:00 AM

This product was not effective at removing my waterproof Cover Girl Lash Blast mascara. I had to soak 3 cotton rounds per eye with this product to get all of my mascara off. So disappointing considering I usually love Lancome's products, and the price for this remover is high. It does, however, do a decent job at removing waterproof eyeliner. I wouldn't recommend it because I've traveled with these bottles (the small size and full size) and they leak. Overall, given the price and rather mediocre performance of this product and packaging quality, I would not recommend it. It's definitely over-hyped. If you want better performance and a lower price, go with the Mary Kay makeup remover in a pink bottle (and get it online instead of through a rep--it's cheaper that way!).

Bronzers -Wet 'n' Wild - Bronzer in Goddess
rated 5 of 5
Akidrad 8/12/2010 9:19:00 PM

I have already repurchased this bronzer for my travel bag. It's truly the best bronzer I have ever tried, from both drugstore and department store lines. It's matte, a gorgeous non-orange color, very soft and lasts forever and photographs well. It's my holy Grail bronzer for life, and so affordable! Try it if you have fair skin, you'll fall in love. Just use it sparingly because it's very soft and a touch goes a long way!

Loose Powders -Unlisted Brand - Purely Cosmetics - Diamond Perfect Finish
rated 1 of 5
Akidrad 3/28/2010 1:55:00 PM

I am so sad that I was duped by youtube gurus (who, of course, got this for free) into believing this was a good product. Don't waste your money on this! It's expensive and it does nothing but dry out your skin! It's basically the equivalent of putting talc on your face. I tried to make it work with various mineral makeup and it does nothing but add a powdery coat to everything. But the biggest drawback is that it photographs really really horrendously: you will look like you put your face in a bowl of flour (I'm serious, try it if you don't believe me). Even a light application shows up disastrously in photos. I rarely believe products warrant 1 lippie, but this one surely does. It's my biggest makeup purchase regret to date.

Lip Liners -Jordana - Easyliner for Lips in Silver Lilac
rated 1 of 5
Akidrad 3/19/2010 8:50:00 PM

Really awful color - light a purplish bright pink. There's really no way I can make this color look good on me. Try Tawny Or Dusty Rose from this Jordana lipliner line instead--those colors are much more versatile and natural. This one is going in the trash--thank goodness it was cheap!

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Colors Pure Sky 913B
rated 1 of 5
Akidrad 3/19/2010 8:46:00 PM

These reviews describe this as a perfect nude, but it's actually a tan brown with no hint of pink. It's NOT a pretty nude on me. It looks very dead on my fair, green-eyed, auburn-haired complexion. This is not a color for the palies, but maybe would work on darker-haired ladies. Not very versatile for me.

Lip Gloss -Jordana - Incolor Pretty Shine Luxury Gloss in Delightful
rated 2 of 5
Akidrad 3/19/2010 8:43:00 PM

I am a fair skinned redhead/auburn with green eyes and I have to say this color looks TERRIBLE on me. So unnatural and practically bright orange. I'm throwing it out. I like these lipglosses in general, just not this shade, too orangey.

Lip Gloss -Jordana - InColor Pretty Shine Luxury Gloss in Adorable
rated 1 of 5
Akidrad 3/19/2010 8:40:00 PM

Awful color - it comes out on your lips exactly how it is in the tube: super metallic and beige. It would really only work for Halloween if you are trying to be a metal statue. Too over the top and looks too shimmery/metallic. I wouldn't recommend it.

Shampoo -Ojon - Rub-Out Dry Cleansing Powder
rated 1 of 5
Akidrad 3/16/2010 2:15:00 AM

Awful stuff - just made my hair powdery and smelly and feel nasty. I'm so upset that I wasted money on this product that did nothing for me. I was looking for something that would help with a little bit of oilyness in my scalp that I get if I use moisturizing styling products. This, unfortunately, did nothing. The search continues.-- By the way, there are more reviews listed on MUA for this product is you just search "rub-out."
