So many positive reviews, and tips- thank you MUA! This helped me a lot in making the decision to even attempt at-home highlights. My hair was growing out from dyed medium/dark brown, I had been colouring it medium brown but it had faded. I had about two inches of natural growth at the roots, which is ash/mousy brown with LOTS of grey. Basically I'm sick of dying my hair to cover the grey- I'm only 33 but have so much grey it's hard to keep up with. I have finally given up so to speak, going to start the road to blonde... So that being said, I have two different shades of dye in my hair, plus natural growth. Dark hair and grey hair. I followed all of the directions, but I pulled through every hole (even the ones without circles) and tried to pull small pieces. My husband helped with the back although he was afraid of hurting me so he probably didn't pull as much as I would have liked. He also gave up rather quickly and so not every hole was pulled. The result- definitely honey. Oh I should mention that I used the kit for dark hair. Thinking on it now, I could have used the medium kit but oh well. My hair lifted fast- my strand test indicated 50 minutes, but once it was on my warm head covered in plastic, 25 minutes was more than what I had planned. So I washed it out, dried it and all that good stuff- it looks very nice. There are definitely some starker blonde pieces, but not bothersome. My hair looks summery and rather nice. Definitely just as good (if not better) than my experiences at the salon. I will give it a week (I hope that's long enough) and do the whole process again. My hair is naturally curly- I had it cut the day before so it was nice and straight which helps a lot with pulling it through the cap. On my medium length hair, 1/2 box would be enough. I will definitely use this again and again- I love the effect. It's fantastic. I think I'll even use it in winter- and use a deposit only colour like herbal essences to darken it down but still maintain some dimension. Very satisfied with this kit, highly recommend it to anyone looking to freshen up their hair or lighten up for summer.

I have been going to the salon for a year, every 5 weeks to have my roots touched up. Needless to say, $100/pop adds up fast. I have naturally medium/dark brown hair and a LOT of grey. My stylist has been making it nice and dark and rich, and emptying my wallet in the process. I just can't afford to be going every 4-5 weeks (and trust me, that's stretching it) to have my grey covered. Today I went and picked up #51/MilkChocolate. It has blended perfectly into my dark hair- it's a TEENY bit lighter but not enough that anyone will really notice. Next time, I'm picking up this shade and one darker to blend together. I think that will get it just about perfect. The colour is rich, covered my greys, didn't smell awful, and now my hair is shiny and smooth. All for $11 (Canadian). I'm a happy camper and will continue to purchase and use this product. I'm happily surprised at the results.

Palettes -Cargo - 7 in 7 kit - Light Medium
rated 4 of 5
Adele 11/9/2009 6:51:00 PM

I just picked this up yesterday- the price can't be beat so I figured I'd give it a go. This is the perfect set of makeup for my purse. I use BE for nearly everything else, but it's not very convenient to carry around or touch up. The concealer+foundation worked great under my eyes which weren't looking too refreshed this morning. The mascara was ok, needed a little more work than my normal mascara (Buxom) but still looks very nice and didn't clump at all. The lipgloss is pretty (sheer though) and I love the concept of a timer in it- I hang on to old makeup all the time and have experienced that awful taste of a rancid lipstick. YUCK. Haven't given the reverse lip liner or the black eyeliner a chance yet but will do that later today. The blush *is* shimmery, but honestly with a light hand it is very pretty. If you work in an office, might not be a good choice for day wear, but I work in film and can get away with whatever. All of the products are full size- the eyeshadows are beautiful and well pigmented. Goes on smooth and blends well. I'd definitely pick this up again, in a heartbeat.

Palettes -Bare Escentuals - Siren of the Sea Kit

Wow, not sure what else I could possibly add to Laci's review- well done, and well stated! I love this set, it's beautiful. The Mermaid eye colour is gorgeous. It's got some colour to it, but not overdone. This is another great kit from BE, some bang for your buck- and a great way to try out several products for the price of one. The brush- while i find it is too small for the mineral veil as it's intended, or even the blush for that matter- it's a nice brush for adding localized amounts of shimmer to the face, and the smaller end is actually quite a nice all-over shadow. I'm Light in BE- Mac NC20. Fair skin with slightly olive undertones.

I love this set- the brush has become a staple for me and I pretty much use it for most of my eye shadows and looks. The two shadows included are very very pretty- Celestine is quite shimmery but somehow it still looks conservative enough for day wear. I also use it sparingly, so maybe that helps. Skyline always gets me a compliment on my eyes- which are a grey/blue. Love the set, it's a great buy and will definitely restock it when I use it up. Can't say enough good things about the brush either- it's very versatile.

Treatments -Clinique - Turnaround Concentrate [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
Adele 8/25/2009 1:28:00 AM

I've only been using this for a few days- but so far I really like it. I've been wearing it over Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel in the morning, and with the night rescue lotioin for oily skin. And on top of that I've been using my new Clarisonic twice a day for the last week. Whatever the cocktail is, it seems to be working. My skin looks smooth, even, and calm. UPDATE Oct 2009 I have been using this for a while now and I still really like it- my skin's been soft and well behaved. This is definitely something that I will repurchase.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
rated 5 of 5
Adele 8/22/2009 3:38:00 PM

Just purchased this a few days ago. I've been lazy lately and not using moisturizer- but I just picked up a Clarisonic and figured if I'm gonna put some effort in, I might as well take the extra step. It's a very light gel/lotion- feels great on the skin, and I like the smell... Leaves skin very smooth. I think it's a great option for summer moisturizer, but I'd probably go to something a little creamier for winter months. _________________________________ Update: I'm still loving this- I'm 1/4 through the bottle and I think I will actually use it till it's gone, and then go get some more! I use it on my neck and chest as well- I love this stuff. And I love the scent! I'm bumping it up a star- this is a great moisturizer.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals ALL
rated 5 of 5
Adele 8/8/2009 11:39:00 PM

Ok. I've purchased the starter set twice now- the first time I admit I was heavy handed with it and not impressed. I think I tossed it to be honest. But I did repurchase, figuring I'd give it another chance, and I'm glad I did. I think what really proved to me how nice it looks is when I used it on both of my sisters for a wedding (we were all in the wedding party) and our makeup looks perfect in EVERY photo that was taken, despite the fact that we were sweating up a storm. My lil sis is anemic and had purple shadows under her eyes, and being fair makes it more visible. It covered it beautifully and SO naturally- make me look at it in a new way. It's not dramatic, but it really does look natural and beautiful. I'm sold, this is my HG brand. Period.

Treatments (Eye) -Biotherm - Age Fitness yeux
rated 2 of 5

This goes on soft, smooth- and very light. It might not be great if you need a good amount of moisture around the eye area, but for me with slightly oily eyelids, it works great. I have just started using Biotherm products in the last few weeks, and am quite surprised I haven't used them before. Great packaging, dispenses just the right amount. *UPDATE* I pretty much gave up on using this. It might be good for only the oiliest skin, but even with my combo-oily skin it did zero moisturizing. I gotta take back two more lippes, knocking this one down to two. Just not worth the money in my opinion. You could easily get something else from the drugstore that works way better for a fraction of the cost.

Toners -Biotherm - Biopur Matifying Astringent Lotion
rated 5 of 5
Adele 2/17/2009 7:20:00 PM

I am honestly quite surprised at the reviews for this product, and for the entire Biopur line for that matter. I very recently had a bad breakout- I've been using Proactive but it stopped working- and I mean REALLY stopped working. Non-stop breakout for the last month. One after the other- blind ones that took forever to come up, whiteheads that wouldn't heal. AWFUL. I have felt horrible even letting my friends see me like this. It's double points month at London Drugs for Biotherm- so I figured I'd give it a go. The woman who worked there was knowledgeable about the line, and suggested the Biopur cleanser, mattifying toner, matte lotion, and one of the anti-age eye lotions (the green one in the pump, can't remember the name haha). I have been using all four products morning and night for two and a half weeks. My skin is looking amazing. Not a single new blemish, and the ones that I had have healed up significantly. Makeup actually covers them now without looking hideous. It's made a huge difference and I will definitely repurchase.

Moderate lotion- very light. Probably not a good option if you do not like fragranced face products. I like this lotion but I've kinda given up on it due to the strong scent. It's not unpleasant, just strong, and long lasting... unfortunately.

When I get a bad breakout, I switch to Proactive for a few days, then right back to this cleanser. I use it twice a day, once if my skin feels tight. Will repurchase again and again (already on #2).

Treatments (Eye) -Avon - Anew Clinical Eye Lift
rated 3 of 5
Adele 2/28/2008 6:55:00 PM

I'm not entirely sure about this product yet, but I can say so far it hasn't made me break out, hasn't caused milia, and hasn't left my eyelids feeling greasy like most other eye creams have done previously... I have been using this for about 1 week now, and while there is no huge difference the skin around the eye is definitely softer to the touch, and makeup application is smoother. Easier to blend under-eye concealer. I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to wrinkle creams, but so far I think I like this one. I'll give it another couple of weeks and update this review. *UPDATE* Yet another eye cream I have given up on. I just couldn't be bothered with two steps every morning. I'm bad enough at one step to be honest! Not a bad product, but there it is sitting at the bottom of the bathroom drawer...

Scrubs -Kiehls - Kiehls Papaya and Pineapple Face Scrub

I admit I'm still undecided on this product. I think it's a nice gentle exfoliant, but not sure if it's TOO gentle. I have never had an adverse reaction to it. All in all, I will probably use up this tube, but for the price I'm sure there are other options out there worth giving a try before I can say if I'd repurchase. *UPDATE* Waste of money, doesn't do a thing. A washcloth alone is more effective.

Masks -Juice Beauty - Green Apple Peel
rated 4 of 5
Adele 10/22/2007 5:39:00 PM

Well, I'm not a huge fan of the packaging, since it's a jar that you have to dip your fingers into (and it could get contaminated) but the product itself is awesome. My face gets REALLY red when I put it on- and it usually takes a good 20 minutes to calm down afterwards. BUT, it doesn't burn, itch, or irritate my skin. The results afterwards are amazing. I have been using it fairly regularly 1 to 2x per week for the last 6 weeks or so, and my skin is beautiful. It helps to zap some pimples, and leaves it looking fresh and radiant. If you have really sensitive skin, you might want to try the weaker version of this product. I also recommend using a nice cool washcloth to remove it from your face- helps get rid of every trace, and the coolness helps soothe the redness quicker. I would also avoid using an alcohol based toner afterwards.
