Fragrances -Little Shop of Beauty - Cocktail Hair and Body Mist
ASweet1 12/14/2005 10:29:00 AM
I've bought a lot of these products, and I have to say that although they're pretty nice in the beginning, I've noticed that over time they tend to change and smell very synthetic. Also, certain scents vary from product to product. For instance, vanilla sugar cookie bubble bath was very light and cinnamony, but faded right away in the tub. But in the body spray it was strongly caramel scented, cheap smelling and truly disappointing. It's pretty expensive so you don't want that. I've also noticed that the shave cream morphs over time as well. I was buying from Little Shop of Beauty for a while and spent tons of money on their products, but the novelty wore off pretty quickly after noticing these quality issues. Also, their message board is controlled by the owners so the overly "sweet" banter on there started to really turn me off! (I also suspect that they must post as users as well to get hype going, because the reviews are just too Lala-land and some border on hysterical...weird )!

Lip Gloss -Cargo - Machu Picchu lipgloss
ASweet1 12/14/2005 10:01:00 AM
I would definitely buy this lip gloss again. I plan to get a lot more shades! This is the best lip gloss I've ever tried. It has staying power and the shine is gorgeous. I also love the tin it comes in. You get so much product for your $$$. I just wish I would have discovered it sooner :)

Lip Treatments -MAC - Lip balm
ASweet1 12/14/2005 9:50:00 AM
I'm pretty disappointed in the Tint Toon lip balm. It's tiny, that's for sure, and the cartoon label on the lid does not justify the $17 CDN price. Go with chapstick for $1.99 or if you need cutesy prints, get one from Avon for $.99! Shame on MAC!

Lip Liners -MAC - Cork lip pencil
ASweet1 8/2/2005 2:50:00 PM
Love this color, hate its texture. Some of MAC's liners are dry and others are not. This one goes on bone dry and even clumps on my lips! I have to put lip balm on before I use it every time; forget touch ups, and after an hour or so, it looks like I have a dotted line around my lips. Yikes! If it was softer, I'd be wearing it all the time with my nudes.

Lips -MAC - Chicory Lipliner
ASweet1 8/2/2005 2:44:00 PM
Perfection. I have found the perfect lip liner. To me, it's not orangy at all, but a golden cherry color that's so versatile, it can blend with reds, pinks, bronzes, and nudes. Amazing!

Lip Gloss -Little Shop of Beauty - Lip Butter
ASweet1 8/2/2005 2:12:00 PM
I got the lip butter in orange sorbet. It has an incredible scent to it and is very buttery. But like a lot of LSOB's products, the scent only lingers for a short time. It's also pricey for a lip balm. (I'm relieved to get reviews for their stuff here, as I've heard that they're message board is editted by the owners, hence the shockingly sugar coated reviews!)

Eye Shadow -Rimmel - eyeshadows
ASweet1 8/2/2005 2:04:00 PM
I bought this eyeshadow in black and brown, but use it as an eyeliner with a MAC eyeliner brush. You need to wet it and it goes on beautifully. Also, it'll never ever run or give you racoon eyes. I've tried every eye pencil known to man and all of them end up giving me circles, but not this. I don't really use it as a shadow, but when I have it was fine. I'm wondering why so many people are complaining about this product. Eyeshadow is supposed to look like a shadow, not paint ;)

Blush -The Body Shop - Lip & Cheek Stain
ASweet1 7/20/2005 3:52:00 PM
I love this tint. I've tried Bentint by Benefit, but found it to be too liquidy and harder to apply than the Body Shop's gel formula. Also, Bentint is way over-priced. The Body Shop's cheek stain is more or less the same shade and reasonably priced. Also, because it's a gel, it doesn't run down your cheeks when you dab some on. I will definitely repurchase.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Body Butter - Brazil Nut
ASweet1 7/20/2005 3:46:00 PM
I used to love the original Nut Butter by the Body Shop, but they've changed their formula recently to a lighter texture and scent, which I don't like as much. I asked a salesperson at the store why, but she didn't know. I've found better stuff at Fruits & Passion since.

I got a sample of this when I purchased their pistachio hand soap, which is to die for, and I will be picking up a full size of this lotion the next time I'm at the mall. It's simply beautiful, very melony and light. Perfect after a shower on a warm summer night. I feel refreshed wearing this!

Lotions/ Creams -Little Shop of Beauty - Marshmallow Hand Creme
ASweet1 7/18/2005 3:53:00 PM
This hand cream is fun to use. The marshmallow scent is very light and rich, slightly greasy, but not worth $16 when you can find good ones out there for much less. I'd recommend the hand butters by Fruits & Passion instead. They're awesome, only $8, water resistent and a little goes a long way. I do love some of the other products LSOB offers, but I have to say that they are somewhat over priced, and orders take forever to arrive. OK, if you can afford to wait to indulge. (I'm relieved to see reviews for their stuff here, as I've heard that they're message board is editted by the owners, hence the shockingly sugar coated reviews!)

Pineapple (lip butter): juicy pineapple scent, strong and delicious Sugar Cookie: Smells like Demeter's Sugar Cookie. They're all starting to smell the same, chemical undertones. Spicy Little Number: Cinnamon bun scent, creamy, nice if you like cinnamon. Good for the winter. Kalani: Smells like gardenias, there's a cheapness to this scent. Waffle Cone: Smells like a baked waffle cone, vanilla mixed with creamy caramel, foody and sweet. Buttercream: Rich vanilla cream mixed with a hint of cherry. Like frosting in a can. Pink Cupcake: Strong smelling cherry (almond?) Pineapple: Their pineapple lip butter is the best smelling pineapple, strong and sweet. Main Squeeze: Kind of like fruity Life Savers, not a really good perfume scent if you think about it. (I'm relieved to get reviews for their stuff here, as I've heard that they're message board is editted by the owners, hence the shockingly sugar coated reviews!)

Lip Gloss -DuWop - Lip Venom
ASweet1 7/18/2005 1:17:00 PM
Like a lot of people, I keep hoping for a miracle product. But there isn't one out there. And the marketers of these types of products are having fun with us when they make false claims. I've been reading a lot of articles about lip plumping, and this makes sense: a surgical lip lift or real collagen injections will work, but lip glosses claiming to do the same, do not. Period. Also, for those who like the lip tingle, all you have to do is dab a tiny bit of real cinnamon onto your glossed lips and it'll do the same thing as the Lip Venom. Only, a bottle of cinnamon can be bought for .99!
