A-Mazing. I have the purple and the taupe. They go on easily, give you a little time to smudge and blend, then stay FOREVER. They colors are absolutely gorgeous, and they are so affordable. I may need to go back and get 4 or 5 more !! LOVE.

Lip Treatments -Smith's Rosebud Salve - Smith's Rosebud Salve

Wow. I've had this in the tin for years and barely ever used it because it was so darn inconvenient to get the lid off and then dip my finger in. I've just bought the tube form, and I am in love. This stuff keeps my lips moisturized for hours, which my Blistex couldn't do. I will use this as long as they keep making it.

I got a sample of this in Doug. Nice color, but I cannot tolerate the disgusting smell. It smells like either waffles and syrup or chewable vitamins. gross

Cleansers -Biore - Steam Activated Cleanser with SteamActiv Beads
rated 5 of 5
ASecretRose 6/28/2010 10:40:00 PM

I've been using this daily for about 3-4 weeks after a couple years of cleaning with Lush's baby face bar. I can honestly say that my skin is now as close to perfect as it's probably going to get, and I credit this cleanser. It removes every bit of makeup, especially when used in the shower, and makes my skin sooo smooth and soft. The major benefit for me is that it seems to make my other products sink in SO much better so that they can do their job. It smells wonderful, comes in a convenient pump, feels nice and cooling, and seems like it will last a long time. This is such a winner from a brand that doesn't get a lot of attention or respect.

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Blush - Warm Soul
rated 5 of 5
ASecretRose 6/28/2010 12:12:00 PM

As far as I'm concerned, I can stop buying blush right now. Warm Soul is exactly what a blush should be, at least on my white-pale skin. It warms up my face beautifully and looks both natural and noticeable at the same time. The color is an amazing mix of red, pink, coral, brown, and beige with a subtle gold shimmer. Usually I avoid shimmer, but this is the perfect amount. I will repurchase again and again and again!!!!!

SOOOOO beautiful!!!! I bought this lipstick for a couple bucks off of the Avon outlet, and it is the most perfect pinky purple glossy lipstick ever. This l/s has shot up to my top 5.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Nine One One -911
rated 1 of 5
ASecretRose 4/4/2008 6:00:00 PM

I can honestly say this is the worst m/u product I've ever purchased. Color is waaay too dark, way too red for eyeshadow, and way too drying on the lips. It's like a maple-brick red color. hideous. And the cap broke almost instantly. Just sooooo bad. Sorry, but I absolutely hate Benefit. I've given it so many chances, and it's always total junk. I hate how gimmicky it is, too.

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Erase Paste in Fair
rated 3 of 5
ASecretRose 4/4/2008 5:57:00 PM

This works OK, but it really isn't thick/dry enough to be an effective undereye concealer. The MA did a terrible job and put it on my entire undereye area, which never works-- concealer only looks natural for me if it is applied directly on the dark areas and nowhere else. She also put Benefit's horrid Ooh la lift stuff on top, which just looked shimmery and greasy. That being said, I went home, removed it, and started over with just the erase paste. I swear this is the same stuff as Laura Mercier's Secret Concealer, which also didn't work. Same color, same texture. Yes, it's brightening and doesn't cake, but it just isn't opaque enough, and it's way too creamy. I would have to set this for sure. Even if it ends up not coming off, it just looks greasy. I'm so disappointed. This was the last thing to try before sinking 70 bucks on Cle de Peau. If that doesn't work for me, then maybe I'm asking for too much!

Lip Gloss -Stila - Brown Sugar Lipglaze
rated 4 of 5
ASecretRose 1/21/2008 4:49:00 PM

This may be an HG shade for me. It seems like the perfect combo of brown, pink, and lavender, colors that look great in combination b/c they are natural tones of the body. When I say lavender, I mean verrrry subtle undertones. This is mostly a browny pink color. Texture is thick and a little sticky. If I were my SO, I'd be grossed out to kiss me with this stuff on lol! Good staying power and nice shine, though.

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara
rated 4 of 5
ASecretRose 1/21/2008 4:46:00 PM

Just got this. Seems to be on the dry side, which is worrisome, and you do have to apply carefully or it will clump. However, gave me pretty full lashes with a nice fan effect. Overall, I wish I hadn't bought it b/c it seems pretty mediocre.

lemon cleaner. sharp-edged and, while not quite repulsive, cheap-smelling and 100% unappealing, at least to me. blech.

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Sex Bomb
rated 2 of 5
ASecretRose 10/21/2007 8:57:00 PM

The smell was hard to notice and was just ok. The purplish pink water was pretty, but it stained my tub, and the gooey rose that comes floating out was completely repulsive. No smell lingered on my skin afterwards. I love Lush and plan to try out their other bombs and bubble bars because they're just so much fun, but this one was not impressive at all.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
rated 1 of 5
ASecretRose 10/20/2007 12:04:00 PM

I think Great Lash is the biggest paradox of the makeup world. So many awards (how many times has it made Allure's best of beauty list?) , yet it must be THE crappiest mascara out there. The only people I know who like it are people who rarely wear makeup anyways and have no idea what a good mascara really is. Utter garbage.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 5 of 5
ASecretRose 10/18/2007 10:24:00 AM

After trying Lash Exact and absolutely hating it, I never bothered with Volume Exact, but picked up Lash Blast based on the reviews here and the cute orange tube. WOW. This may be an HG. It's a super fat brush in a super fat tube, and it really pumps up the volume of my lashes with no clumps. I look so wide-eyed when I use this, but it doesn't look too unnatural. NO flaking or bleeding either. I've only used it once with my Shu curler, but I'm sure it will continue to impress. Great stuff. UPDATE: Still loving this. To the people who aren't impressed with it, the trick to using this is to first curl the lashes, then SWEEP it quickly up through your lashes (don't use the wiggle method), then repeat for one or two more coats. The result, at least for me, has been separated, high volume lashes. I find that you have to slightly relearn mascara application when using these rubber brushes. HTH

Treatments -Peter Thomas Roth - Glycolic Acid 10% Hydrating Gel
rated 5 of 5
ASecretRose 6/26/2007 7:16:00 PM

I will buy this product until the end of time. It has turned my skin around 100%. I now no longer get period breakouts, and my skin is sooo smooth and even. Seriously, this stuff is so effective that the 50 USD price tag doesn't bother me one bit anymore. UPDATE: So I'm on my second bottle now after trying HARD to go without this stuff and just rely on the exfoliation from my Neutrogena healthy skin lotion. I thought I was doing OK without it, but I bought it again as a splurge before my wedding. After three days of using it again, I can NOT believe I ever strayed. I won't make that mistake again. This, plus Avon's microdermabrasion scrub and the Neutrogena lotion are my HG of HG's for skincare. Never underestimate the power of exfoliation!
