Liquid -Lancome - Teint Miracle
rated 3 of 5

Lancome Teint Miracle is a beautiful formulation. It has a glow to it unlike any foundation I've seen. I just wish the color selection were a little better for fair and medium skin tones. There are a lot of colors, that's not the issue...On HD Camera many of the lighter colors appeared yellowy/green so although I keep trying to get this to work for me I have to do too much color correcting with bronzers etc so i tend to set it aside when I find something else I want to try out. It doesn't have me quite hooked but I'm not ready to let it go quite yet either and here's why: I gave it a 3 because I do have a favorite color for fair skin tones: Buff 4C. I still use it occasionally on Alyson Hannigan in the wintertime when her summer color is faded. It has a pretty peachy tone to it and in using it on HIMYM with our continually upgrading HD technology 4C is a good choice that I feel safe with. Its one of my go-to's that's in the rotation. I like that its sheer enough and with a beautiful finish that can be used alone, or mixed in with a heavier coverage foundation, or on top of other foundations for a finishing touch. A few of the darker colors are very pretty on ethnic skin and are worth reconsidering so I'm not giving up on this one. It'll definitely stay in our foundation supply but I need to edit out quite a few of the colors and keep the gems only.

Cleansers -Clarins - Water Comfort One Step Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
88angels 11/4/2012 1:19:00 AM

I have 2 makeup kit facial cleanser staples. Cetaphil and Clarins Water Comfort One Step Cleanser. They are both one step, don't require water rinsing and can just be wipes off with a cotton pad or tissue. Love them both. I have been using Cetaphil for 18 yrs as a professional MUA and I'm partial to that only because its been with me from the beginning. But this Clarins is amazing. One is a thicker lotion/gel consistency (Cetaphil) while the other is a thin liquid (Clarins) so dealer's choice on that one. You can't really go wrong with either, just a personal preference for consistency really.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
88angels 11/4/2012 1:11:00 AM

Been using Cetaphil for all my 18 yrs as a professional makeup artist. Never even considered a replacement because it does everything I need it to. Sometimes I use the Clarins cleansing water which is nice too, but i go back to my Cetaphil roots because it works so well and is thicker than the Clarins which is nice sometimes when you need that. PROS: It cleans with out water (just wipe clean with a cotton pad or facial tissue) wipes off without oily residue removes even waterproof mascara hypoallergenic is great for all eye makeup removal, doesn't bother even sensitive eyes like mine leaves skin soft and fresh CONS: not a replacement for daily skin cleanser that requires water. skin needs water people! (but its still great because we don't always have water around do we?) I recently accidentally purchased the kind of Cetaphil that requires rinsing so don't make that mistake. Its not the same! I read some of the reviews and wonder if that mistake may have been made by other reviewers.

Skincare - Body -Bio Oil - All Products

meh. its fine. but Emu and Josie Maran Argan Oil combo is my winner so I'll stick with that. Bio Oil is not all it professes to be IMHO. And the fragrance is...well, TOO fragrant. makes my nose itch. Sorry Bio Oil.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Mia
rated 5 of 5
88angels 11/4/2012 1:41:00 AM

My Clarisonic Mia is on my top 5 desert island items list. It operates on a built in rechargeable battery so I'll have to work out that issue. Its amazing. Has completely changed my complexion, refined my pores, and smoothed out my dry rough skin so moisturizer and treatments can absorb better. For many years I had problems with enlarged clogged pores on my nose. My facialist would always tell me i needed to exfoliate more even though I was using an exfoliant of some sort on a diligent regular basis. I started using the Mia and after a few weeks i noticed that the pores on my nose started appearing smaller and that clogging was getting less and less. Now the pores on my nose are barely noticeable and my skin is silky smooth. Cant say enough praises!!

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara
rated 2 of 5
88angels 11/4/2012 1:25:00 AM

Its beautiful it really is. If you want to wear it for an hour. After that its smudges and smears and makes all manner of mess. As for shelf life it dries out and gets clumpy after 2 weeks. And its super expensive. So nope on Dior Show. I will continue on my quest for the perfect mascara. This isn't it.

Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm Sphere - Sweet Mint

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS LIP BALM! If you don't care for this flavor, try another because the formula, shape and packaging is fanstastic. What I love about the shape is you can swipe it once and get upper and lower lips at the same time. It takes a bit of getting used to but I loved it from the 1st use. Formula is so moisturizing and yummy. As a side note, beware because dogs seem to love it too. The rubber/plastic packaging is very alluring and they love to chew on them. All my EOS lip balms have teeth marks. My dog opens drawers to get to them so I have to keep them high up.

Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - 5 Colour Eyeshadow - Earth Reflection 609
rated 5 of 5

Expensive but so worth it. They are silky and beautifully pigmented, blend perfectly and have great staying power. Not all day but a good 4-6 hours under television and film lighting. and they are easily touched up without grabbing or flaking. i love the Dior palettes and most of the MUA that I know in the industry have them as a staple in their kits.

Lipstick -Bite Beauty - High Pigment Lip Pencil - Bouquet
rated 5 of 5
88angels 11/3/2012 11:32:00 PM

I love this new craze in fat pencil lipsticks. I personally think the old school lipstick packaging should be done away with forever. When using on actors they get their own pencil and i generally don't even use a lip brush anymore. Great for touch ups on set and super easy (ok, when I am doing print or red carpet I still like the control and precision of a brush) I have tried lots of these style pencils: Tarte, Clinique Chubby Sticks, Bite, Urban Decay. I love them differently for different reasons and I think its helpful to see all in one review. Tarte: I love the option of sheer or more pigmented matte. the colors are so fashion forward with the brighter matte choices. The sheers are perfect for every day wear and are fairly moisturizing Clinique Chubby Sticks: Sheer and moisturizing. Love the color selection. Two Ton Tomato is such a fun orangey bright red and you don't have to have a surgeon's steady hand to apply like you do most reds. I apply it on the go mirror free! and Bountiful Blush is just hands down the best natural color out there. It works on everyone! Bite: Not a huge color selection as of this review (4 or 5 colors at most at this point) but what they have is great! highly pigmented and smooth application. Great find! Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss: I love this pencil. But it is not for the shy one. The colors are super vibrant (wow!!!) and yes, some of them quite loud. Which is so fun!!! Very pigmented! and smooth silky app. love love! Hope this helps! If you are still going old school with your lipsticks, ditch 'em grandma!. come on over to fat lip pencil lipsticks - you'll never go back! (unless of course you are a makeup artist for runway, print, or redcarpet events where the control of a brush is still a tool we should be using... but who needs all that hassle if you're not??)

BTW As of the time of this review, In the HIMYM Makeup Dept we use Bountiful Blush EVERY DAY on Alyson Hannigan and Cobie Smulders. We buy them 6 at a time because we use that color on everyone and they tend to grow legs like ballpoint pens at the grocery store so we have to conitnually restock!

Mascara -Kiss Me - Kiss Me Mascara
rated 4 of 5
88angels 11/3/2012 10:57:00 PM

I gave this mascara a 4 because for its specific use, its brilliant. On clients who tend to be smudgy and complain about difficult removal this is perfect. Because of the tubing aspect, smudging is a non-issue. and it removes so easily with water. But needs replacing fairly often and you know when its getting old because it gets spidery. unfortunately you don't know this until you've already applied it and the spiders appear without advance notice! I have read some reviews recommending Kanebo over this one so I'll give that a whirl and let you know what happens!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 4 of 5
88angels 11/3/2012 10:47:00 PM

I have been using this mascara on my clients for awhile now. Probably the longest term I have stuck with a mascara. I've tried lots and lots of mascaras over the year - From Dior Show, Kiss Me Tube Mascara, all the way down to Maybelline Great Lash and everything in between. This has so far stood the test of time and works on most people. PROS: 1. Volumizing 2. Stays put! 3. Non smudging 4. Rubber wand is great shape and material. CONS 1. Dries out fairly quickly. Needs frequent replacement 2. The wand, although its one of the things I love when using on myself, can be a bit tricky using on clients because its pretty bulky to maneuver This one stays in my kit and its the first I reach for.
