Cleansers -DHC - Pure Soap
ayngemac 7/16/2008 12:57:00 PM
This is an average facial soap. It's gentle enough for sensitive skin, and cleansed my skin okay, but it's way overpriced for what you get, and I think regular Neutrogena works much better at a quarter of the price. Looks nice, though, all icy and minimal...

Conditioner -Freeman - Sea Kelp Moisture Conditioner
ayngemac 7/16/2008 12:51:00 PM
I decided to try this when it went on sale for $1.99. This works well for my long straight hair. It's pink and very thick and smells nice. My tangles slid right out. It left my hair soft and smooth. However, the hole in the cap is so tiny, I had to squeeze the tube with both hands to get any conditioner out. WTH? Very inconvenient. Otherwise, I really like this.

I like the look of this: pink and girly and slightly retro, however, the scent bugs me. It smells faintly synthetic and plasticky, not fruity. Moisturizes well with a very faint pink tint. Got it for 79 cents.

Styling Products -Clairol - Herbal Essences Shimmery Nights Shimmer Spray Gel
ayngemac 7/15/2008 1:24:00 PM
I only picked this up because it was $1 after my coupon. The shimmer only shows up when I first spray on it. The gel gives only a little bit of hold. It sure smells good, though! I have black, very long straight hair. Maybe the shimmery just slides right out, or my hair is too dark. Who knows? Maybe my niece will like this.

This is a perfect creme, blue-based, candy-apple red. Vroom! And it's dirt cheap right now at CVS for 99 cents.

Fragrances -Prescriptives - Calyx

This actually made me shudder. I believed I would love this; there is nothing like a green scent. However, the synthetic edge to this is overwhelming. It's as if someone asked a robot to create a fragrance, and this was the result. I can't bring myself to give it a one, though, because I've smelled worse.

I adore the indigo version of this new brights collection, but this one is disappointing. It's just an average violet with a lilttle shimmer. Not vivid at all. It's okay, just not rockin' my world. It was $3.15 at Walmart.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Gloves in a Bottle
ayngemac 7/14/2008 1:15:00 PM
I bought this for my mom at Walgreens. It was $9.99 for 8 ounces. Normally I wouldn't pay that much for a little bottle of lotion, but my mom is always complaining about her cracked sensitive skin. This has no fragrance and is hypoallergenic. It smelled a little weird to me and seemed kind of watery, but when I tried it, it absorbed quickly and softened without feeling greasy or sticky. She loves it, and I really like this a lot, and I'll probably go back and buy myself a purse-size. Here are the ingredients: Purified Water, Dimethicone, Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Myristate, Stearyl Alcohol, Triethanolamine, Xanthan Gum, Hypromellose, PVP/Hexadecene Copolymer, Steareth 21, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

Conditioner -L'Oreal - Vive Pro Hydra Gloss very dry/damaged hair
ayngemac 7/13/2008 8:28:00 PM
I have to admit that I was a little concerned in the shower as I was trying to rinse this out. I didn't seem to want to leave my hair. It felt heavy and greasy. I wrung out my hair with a towel and let it air-dry. Now I feel like I'm in a hair commercial: my locks are shiny and silky and I have a lot of volume which is something I don't care about as I'd rather have straight glossy hair. Somehow I now have both shine and volume. I'm not nuts about the coco-buttery scent. It's not unpleasant, but I'm just not really fond of cocoa butter. These are BOGOF at Walgreens right now, plus I had a coupon so I got it for $2 a bottle.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Xtreme Wear - Wild Life
ayngemac 7/13/2008 8:18:00 PM
Not as wildly thrilling as my new bottle of Orly's Oh Cabana Boy, but it's still a pretty metallic deep fuschia that is definitely bold. You'll need two coats, but it has a wide brush and is only 99 cents at CVS right now.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Xtreme Wear in Purple Potion

This is a deep violet with a weird pale metallic lilac sheen. I've been on a purple polish jag and this is a nice addition to my expanding collection. Dry time and wear are average, but it has a wide brush and it was only 99 cents at CVS.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Lime Lights
ayngemac 7/13/2008 8:10:00 PM
These are 99 cents at CVS now so I picked up a handful. In the bottle this looks like a metallic pastel green, but it's very sheer. Maybe it'd look cool layered on something else, but I think I will try to Franken it with a darker green and see what happens. Love the wide brush though.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Marine Scene
ayngemac 7/13/2008 8:07:00 PM
I love the wide brush and the pearly aqua color is pretty, but it's sheerer than I expected. But it was only 99 cents at CVS. There are prettier aquas out there (like Milani's and Orly's for example) so I probably would not buy this again.

Misc Beauty Tools -Revlon - blackhead remover / extractor

This works fine for me. I also have the Tweezerman, and that one works slightly better, but I can get by with this one. Plus it's so much cheaper than Tweezerman's, so when I lose it I won't freak out.

It's so much easier to pluck when you can see everything so clearly. I picked this up at Rite Aid for $5.99, plus I got one free so I can put one in my purse. Later on I found a lighted 15x mirror by Conair at Target, so that is my favorite, but I still use this one, too.
