Concealers -MAC - Studio Finish Concealer
Aishteru85 5/19/2011 6:29:00 AM
I have been looking for a good concealer as I have moderate to severe post-acne scars that are horrible, some are really red and some due to the sun have turned brown. And without make up, I looked like a true-pizza face. I read the rave reviews on this concealer and decided to try it, and I was really glad , I did, i got mine in NC35: Pros: -Highly pigmented, so it covers really2 well, i was shocked to see that my post acne scars almost disappeared..thats how highly pigmented this concealer is!! -the texture is creamy -its long lasting up to 12 hours! as i live in a tropical climate, this withstand gallons of sweats, humidity and doesnt disappear even though i have crazy oily face. -and it doesnt break me out - and doesnt get cakey. -a little goes a long way -one tub lasts a long time Cons: -This does not make a good undereye concealer as, it gets cakey and settles into creases and dries out your undereye skin, this also isnt suitable to be used around the nose. but i find if i mix this with a moisturizer it does a decent job without caking. -can be a lil drying Bottomeline: this is a heavy duty concealer and lasts a long time, and perhaps not suitable for dry skinned gals. UPDATE 15/10/2011-After having these close to a year. I'd like to add that its lasting power degrades as the product ages, as with all things i guess. But I hate the fact that I have almost 2/4 of the tub still and a couple of hours after mid day, it started becoming this gloopy mess, where it started separating from my foundation. You know like you have a patch of mud on your face and it was not blended in. Disgusting I know...T_T

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Water Gel
Aishteru85 5/7/2011 4:23:00 AM
Since I have started using a new facial cleanser, my skin which was usually very oily and without a dry patch in sight has turned into combination skin. i have horrible dry patches around the corner of my mouth and around the nose. since the cleanser actually works in reducing my acne, i'm reluctant to change it and hence i figure i would change the moisturizer instead. since my regular moisturizer is not moisturizing enough to hydrate my dry patches, so i have been on a moisturizer hunt....i got this one and have been very glad that i bought it. pros: -very moisturizing without being gloopy and thick -very refreshing upon application. -oil free -very light moisturizer yet really hydrating -does not break me out -it claims that oily face usually is a result of non-balance skin and that by using this your face will be less oily and shine free as it is well hydrated-and YES!! they are right..my face isnt oily anymore..weird! cons: -the packaging is horrible, its in a tub so its very unhygienic -for a drug store moisturizer, its pretty pricey -its great for oily skin girl as well...will repurchase

Cleansers -St. Ives - Apricot Face Wash -- Blemish and Blackhead Control
Aishteru85 4/21/2011 12:18:00 AM
I was looking for a cleanser to basically leave at the downstairs bathroom, as sometimes I like using the bathroom downstairs and most of my skincare prods. are up at the other bathroom. So, i got it since the bottle claims to control acne, i dont have much hope for it, as i have never found a cleanser that got my acne problem under control. And since it was on sale and pretty cheap...i got it....a few days later i noticed, how my pimples have reduced in size and number...i was pleasantly surprised to discover it was the this face wash that helps to clear my face...i usually slather this on my face and leave it for a few minutes, and it does wonders! pros: -cheap -really helps get my pimples under control -refreshing cons: -awful smell -leaves the skin a tad dry.. all in all , a great cheap product that really works...just make sure to adequately moisturize ur face afterwards..i'm glad i found this, the only cleanser that has ever helped me clear my face...btw: i'm taking off one lippie as it dries the skin slightly...but a good moisturizer helps with that..great buy! UPDATE: I have been using this for a good 2 months now, and I'm loving this, not only does it control my acne but it has diminished most my post acne scars that are red and brown! its really great...a 2-in 1 product....i just cant believe how wonderful it works and cheap it is and how great my skin has looked ! love love love!!

Sunscreen -Biore - UV Aqua Rich Watery Mousse SPF 50+
Aishteru85 4/10/2011 5:33:00 AM
I have been using biore uv perfect face milk sunscreen forever, and have finished almost 4 bottles with no complaints and no breakouts, needless to say, it was my HG sunscreen. Since they've launched this, i wanted to try this, and my this was just as good as the biore uv perfect face milk pros: -the texture is soft and very refreshing, it feels like you're slathering a cool-water on your face. - it does not leave a whitish cast. - it has a high spf 50 -its great as a make up base. -its not oily at all...not at all. cons: -the tube only carries a mere 33 gm, so its pretty little. -since i have really oily face, this does not control my oilies as good as the uv perfect milk, but this is more moisturizing than the uv pefect milk... overall, this is great for combo, dry skin or even those with lil oil issues.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
Aishteru85 4/3/2011 3:23:00 AM
I have been using this for almost a year. And It is by far the best foundation I have ever tried. I've tried other durgstores ones like rimmel, l'oreal, maybelline, kate and etc and the high ends like shisheido, dior and double wear estee lauder Pros: It lasts all day, I mean all day...up to 12 hours and more. It controls oil like a super sponge It has FULL coverage. A little goes a long way. For the quality it gives, i find the price to be pretty reasonable. It doesnt break me out Cons: The smell is horrible, utterly disgusting. it smells like paint. the consistency is rather thick. and where i live, they dont carry a color that matches my skin tone, and i use early tan, which is a tad too dark for me... the packaging is horrible and you need a heavy duty make up remover to remove this =I have moderate acne scars, crazy oily face and i live in a tropical weather, and this made me sweat like a pig, so this is by far the best foundation to tackle oiliness, provides amazing coverage for acne scars and can withstand gallons of sweat without totally disappearing..

Cleansers -Biore - Kao Make-Up Remover Perfect Oil
Aishteru85 4/3/2011 3:04:00 AM
Pros: It removes heavy make up effortlessly..think thick waterproof eyeliner and mascara and long wearing-heavy duty foundation. It doesnt cause me break out. You dont need several pumps. One or two is enough for your entire face. I like that after rubbing in this to dissolve make up, you splash a lil water on your face it emulsifies and turns to this milky purply color and then, you rub it a lil more and all your make up fades away and clean, oil-free soft and clean face. It is so cheap! Cons: None that I could think of... -overall, if u're looking for a make up remover that works great with heavy make up. You have found it! This is HG status for me, i have finished more than 6 bottles of this great stuff. Always, always takes off my make up effortlessly. One bottle with daily use can last you well over a month.

Sunscreen -Biore - UV Perfect Face Milk SPF 50+
Aishteru85 10/6/2010 1:48:00 AM
Skin type: very Oily/acne prone skin. OMG! I have finally found a suncreen that makes my make up stay so much longer!! I mean, i've tried neutrogena ultra dry touch sunscreen with spf 50++ after reading rave reviews and my was i disappointed! my make up slid off my face in 2 hours...but this, made my make up stay the whole day, and i'm shine free! i dont even need to blot...and best of all its cheap! Pros: -cheap, at least where i'm at, this could be pricier if its not sold locally. Ebay do have them though -controls oil really8x well, i mean i have super oily face, after half hour of washing my face, my face is already oiling up..but this really made my make up stay so much longer!! -works as a primer...I use this both as a primer and a sunscreen, so this is my last step before i put on my foundation. -doesnt break me out. -I have finished like maybe 8-9 bottles of these, been using this for quite sometime. It's really great. -It has a runny texture and once applied and blended in, it smooths to a powdery finish. -doesnt leave a whitish cast after fully blended cons: -none!! this is my HG sunscreen...try it...worth every penny

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Deep Clean Cleansing Lotion
Aishteru85 9/13/2010 4:20:00 AM
Skin Type: Oily/Acne-Prone. I use this to remove my makeup. This is my make up remover at least for the face. For my eyes, i turn to johnson's baby oil lite, it removes heavy duty mascara and eyeliner so efficiently. I have always felt that neutrogena is among the best drugstore brand ever, i have been son happy with their moisturizer and cleanser, and i thought i would be to with this cleansing lotion..boy was i wrong Pros: -very affordable. -great packaging and pump Cons: -i was horrified to find traces of foundation on the cotton pad, even when i have used 3 pumps of this lotion and wipes it off with wet wipes. it really does poorly on taking off your make up. -texture is rather runny. -just cleanse so badly. even the cheap price cannot compensate how poorly it cleanse. Will never buy this again...

Blush -Za - blush vibrate
Aishteru85 9/7/2010 7:17:00 AM
Okay, I don't believe in spending so much money especially on a blush. I mean at the end of the day you just want your face looking a lil bit rosy right? The point is you want color. So, I've tried a few drugstore blusher and this is my fav. one. Why? The price is so cheap. Yes it comes in dual tone, and i hate the highlighter one, cuz i never really use it....but the color for the blusher is so natural, perfectly matches my skin tone, giving it a flushed look. the staying power is super long, i mean i apply it before going to work in the morning and by dinner time, its still there! The texture is smooth and not powdery. This is great for those looking for a good blush and within a budget....and yes, and it lasts for almost a year plus...so yeah..great

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
Aishteru85 9/7/2010 7:02:00 AM
First and foremost, I am an Asian. So i basically have semi double eyelid...(go figure) and applying eyeliner is super tricky for me..and i have never successfully applied a liquid eyeliner without having it smudged and transfered to the upper crease...so, i usually use the automatic pencil eyeliner..so I was sceptical when i bought this. But to my surprise this is the best liquid/gel liner i have ever tried! I dont have problem of it smudging upon application. It does smudge overtime..but its still bearable. Pros: -affordable -has a long staying power, 5-6 hours (considering the fact that i have super-duper oily lids) - does not smudge upon application -and comes with great brush..trust me the brush works fabulously! -one tub can last you a long time cons -pricey for a drugstore makeup.... I love this, give it a try! And, a few days ago, i was crying really badly (a really great touching movie, mind you), after i'm done, i went to the toilet to check on my make up and to my surprise, my eyeliner does not budge or makes me look like a panda...it looked as if i had just applied it a few minutes ago! OMG, I love this, even when i sweat like crazy this liner does not budge...i really2x love this! yippie!

Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub Blemish and Blackhead Control
Aishteru85 9/7/2010 6:49:00 AM
I have super oily skin and am acne-prone, i have active blemishes and post-blemish scar. This has been in my beauty regime for 10 years. Its cheap, easily accessible and great for oily skin or acne-prone skin. I use this 3 to 4 times a week, and although it does not really prevent future break-outs it does help to get it in check...it unclogs pores and clear dead skin cell which in turn will result in less break-out. So, for those who want something to help their overall blemish-skin treatment then this is a good product. I however dont think it clears black head. I have had it in the past and still have it now...this doesnt do much for black-head..u're better off with pore-packs anyways...

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
Aishteru85 8/29/2010 3:23:00 AM
Skin type: Oily/Pimple-Prone Well, i was looking around to replace my revlon colorstay as, they have stopped carrying my shade, at least where i'm at, so i decided to try this. Basically I was looking for a foundation, much like revlon, gives medium to full coverage, controls oil, long-wearing, rub-proof, and doesnt melt when i sweat. But this really let me down. Pros: -Its got a wide range of shade -contains suncreen - 30 ml can last awhile. -provides medium to full coverage cons: -by 11am, the foundation on my chin and forehead are gone. -my face is super duper oily. like i can fry an egg on it by mid-day. -fades off pretty quickly. -and when i sweat, my sweat turn orange...eww -and its not rub proof. bottomline: this is probably suitable for those with normal or dry skin...oily skin should stay away

Liquid -Rimmel - Stay Matte Foundation
Aishteru85 8/29/2010 3:05:00 AM
Skin Type: Oily/Pimple-prone Pros: Its lightweight, does not feel like you're wearing anything at all, and its pretty cheap. Cons: It does not contain any SPF protection, contrary to its name, it does not give a matte finish, dew finish is more like it, and it is horrible in controlling oil. My face looked like it needed to be soaked with sponge, after 1/2 an hour using it. The coverage is sheer to medium, and by mid-day most of it is already gone...So, cheap as it may be, not worth the time or money

Skincare - Face -L'Oreal - Dermo Expertise UV Perfect SPF 40
Aishteru85 8/29/2010 2:57:00 AM
Okay the product that I'm about to review is slightly different from the above, it's called Dermo Expertise UV Perfect Matte SPF 30.... So for starters: My skin type: Super Oily/pimple-prone skin. Pros: Staying Power :It did stay pretty long, not 12 hours as stated on the tube, but at least about 5-6 hours. Color upon application: Like most sunscreens it leaves you looking like a ghost, but this one, is less so, when you work it out on your face eventually, the whitish casts will dissapear Amount : A little goes a long way Cons: Price: For a 30 ml tube, its quite pricey for a drugstore product. Application: This product is quite greasy, but since i'm told most suncreens are, this might be slightly less greasy than the rest, but bottomline is, it is definitely not suitable for combi/oily skin. And after 1 month of using it, it broke me out horribly. I mean really horribly. After I've stopped using it, the pimples stopped. So go figure.
