Fragrances -Caswell-Massey - Lilac Signature Scent
lisa7788 3/19/2009 7:27:00 PM
Maybe I got a bad bottle, but this stuff was awful! It doesn't resemble the scent of lilac at all; more like musty soap. I would not recommend this, but I love Highland of Rochester lilac! It's a wonderful lilac fragrance.
This is the best eyeliner color I've found so far. It goes on easily/smoothly, blends well if you want, and stays on all day. It's a cooler gray color that works well with my gray blue eyes & fair skin. I so wanted to like Merle Norman Galaxy (so pretty purplish blackish gray) but it make my eyes look red and was to harsh for my coloring. Clinique's Black Diamond was promising, but still to harsh. This works very well so far. I'll still try others, but for the price & quality, this is great. I'll buy a back up for sure.
I really want to like this. I loved it the first couple of times I used it. A closer look however showed how creapy my eyes really are! OMG!! I had no idea they were so bad... I put a little more moisturizer over it and it did blend it better. I tried again today. The jury's still out... Maybe I'm being too critical of myself, but the last thing I want in an eyeshadow is to accentuate my lines. I won't repurchase. Update: This does work pretty well if I make sure I moisturize with Clarins eye cream first & blend well before the moisturizer sinks in. The color is great!
Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Facial Hair Removal Spring
lisa7788 3/9/2009 11:09:00 PM
Thank you MUA! This isn't perfect, but it's the best method I've found yet to remove facial hair. Found it on ebay for $16 incl s&h. If I could get the hang of it to get the fuzz on my jaw line it would be perfect! A little ouchy, but do small areas. Removes hair quickly. I recommend you give it a try!!
I don't know why I bought this... Matte lipstick is hard to wear; your lips have to be perfect or else matte shows every line & flake of skin. The color is not good for my coloring, it looked drab on. The so-so rating is not the product's fault. If you can pull of matte go for it. As for color, that was my poor choice. I wanted more of a nude look, this was more of a dull pink. It's up for a swap throw in if you're interested ;-)
Skincare - Body -Caswell-Massey - Almond Cold cream soap
lisa7788 2/27/2009 5:59:00 PM
Very nice soap. I use this as a splurge, pampering soap & follow with their almond lotion. This leaves skin soft & feeling moisturized. I also use this as a shaving soap... my razor glides over me skin & my skin is soft after. Good stuff!!!
Lotions/ Creams -Caswell-Massey - Almond & Aloe Hand Cream with Silk
lisa7788 2/27/2009 5:55:00 PM
This is the yummiest scent ever!! I first discovered this while staying at a very nice hotel. All the toiletries they supplied were Caswell-Massey Almond. I fell in love with this lotion 20 years ago & still love it today. Wearing this makes me feel pampered, it's a real treat! So soft & silky. It's a must have. Treat yourself & try it- you'll be hooked!
Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Highland Lilac of Rochester

Oh, wow! This smells just like fresh lilacs; my favorite scent :-) I've looked high and low for a beautiful, fresh (not sweet/fake) lilac scent. This fits the bill perfectly. My only wish is that the scent lasted longer. It's gone in about 4 hours & I have to reapply. I bought a sample from their website $5.99. I'd like to get the full size ($49) but might try Caswell Massey ($22 on sale now) first - but they don't have samples that I've seen. Edit: I've now tried Caswell Massey & it's horrible! I'm going to treat myself for my birthday & buy the full size from Highland Lilac! Iloooovvve it!!!
Mascara -Merle Norman - Luxiva Supreme Lash Mascara
lisa7788 2/27/2009 4:44:00 PM
I decided to try this after reading the reviews here. I still like my Blinc Kiss Me black mascara (love the tubes for a quick weekend no-fuss look), this has become my new daily mascara. It goes on smoothly with no clumps and doesn't stick my little blond lashes together. I have to make the most of the few I have, so making them into 3 globs is not my goal (have you seen that MAC Plush lash picture? Whoa!) Anyway, I bought this in black and the color is a nice pure black. I wanted to try black/bronze but they were all out. (The lady actually said to me "You mean someone actually likes & uses that??") Well, I never said I buy MN because of the SAs. This separates my lashes nicely and gives the perfect amount of length and volume. It's easy to build more volume with another coat or two if you want a more dramatic look. I can even get my lower lashes ALL coated with no clumps and no (minimal) smudging in the corners. I have a teeny brush from a Shu lash conditioner that I've been using for my lower lashes & I don't have to use that with this. This stuff makes it all day with NO flaking or smudging and actually washes off easily & completely with warm water & soap in the shower. I think I'm in love...
Makeup Brushes -Bare Escentuals - Soft Focus Face Brush
lisa7788 2/27/2009 4:29:00 PM
Great brush! Soft, no shedding, just as soft & fluffy after cleaning. I use it for my mineral foundation & am planning on getting another for my bronzer. $10 on ebay. Love it!!
Eye Shadow -Sally Girl - Sally Girl Stripes Eyeshadow

Why can't I bring myself to plunk down a chunk of $$ for makeup? When will I learn?? Soon I hope. I'm learning through trial & error. This was an error. What junk! The shadow is hard as a rock and difficult to get on a brush. On my eye it has not color at all. This stuff is really junk. I could have spent that $2.11 with tax on a really good large cup of Sumatra Italian roast coffee at the shop around the corner Sigh....
Ooo, these colors are sooo pretty! This palette is a steal! I think I paid around $5.00 for it and it has so many colors to work with. They are very pigmented and last all day. Unfortunately, I thought I could still do shimmer eyeshadows... I think I should stick to a more matte formula (I'm open to suggestions! This palette is so pretty; I'm so sad the shimmer doesn't work for me :-(
Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - H2O Proof Blazing Bronze 792
lisa7788 2/15/2009 11:39:00 AM
Ooo, this is crap! I had such high hopes for the Wet N Wild eyeliners based on the reviews here... I bought two, this one and I Shimmers Night Lights in 695 which is black/charcoal w/ sparkles. I haven't gotten to try that one on yet, since it was broken and all the liner material is stuck up in the cap. And it was sealed when I bought it... Anyway, I was looking for a bronzey/brown eyeliner with some shimmer so I thought I'd give this a try. Walgreens had a BOGO sale so I figured it was a good chance to try them. Another reviewer loved this pencil under the general eyeliner category. Hmmm, maybe hers was fresher? This is terrible stuff! Not even worth the $1.00 it cost me. The liner is hard & dry, so it takes some real doing to get it to leave any color. The color is very light and uneven. Anemic describes it best... It doesn't resemble bronze at all. It's more of a light brown/cappuccino/ baby poop color. I will not be buying any more of these. They're junk. I guess you do get what you pay for. I don't expect much from the other pencil either, once I exchange or return it. I did buy the Sandcastle eyeshadow compact also, and the colors look very promising. I haven't tried them yet, but will review when I do. I hope I didn't pass up the Stila Gold Glow eyeshadow for more WNW junk...
This is a pretty good mascara, especially for people who don't like a "made up" look. Like others said, it gives a very natural look. It's very light coverage; no volume or length just color. I tried both brown & black. I'm blond with very light lashes and the brown hardly shows up at all, so I'd stick with the black. It does wash off, but it leaves some raccoon eye residue. I prefer the ease of Blinc mascara, but this is cheap and easier to apply :-) Edit: I took off a lippie and decided I wouldn't buy this again due to the fact that it doesn't wash off very well. It leaves alot behind after my shower and it's all smudged under my eyes.
I'm so glad I found this product here on MUA! I stumbled upon it while I was checking out the Clarisonic. I've used this for a little over a month and I really like it. I haven't tried the creams that come with it (I didn't know what most of the ingredients were, and was afraid it would break me out). It does a great job of exfoliating and leaves my skin beautifully smooth. It cuts way down on the number of blemishes I get as well. I do wish the brush was a little more gentle/softer. I'm not so sure about the people who are using this or the Clarisonic twice a day or even daily. I can't imagine it's good to scrub your face that much... I think every other day or so is good. It really does exfoliate - daily use seems a bit harsh for your skin. I got this at Rite Aid for $29.99. It's well worth it! Update 3/23/09: I'm still loving my Pretika! I use it every other day or so and my skin is very smooth and my makeup goes on better. It is improving my skin too (I think it's helping; I switched meds & my skin was unhappy about that, so I'm back on them. My skin is still recovering from the switch, but this is helping). I haven't had any problems with the charger or the unit holding a charge. I'm totally pleased & recommend it 100%!!
