Eye Shadow -Sally Hansen - S Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy
rated 1 of 5

After reading positive reviews and making a CVS run, at 75% off I had to try some Carmindy inspired products. The cream blush had no staying power at all. Maybe the shadows will be better. I could see through the window of the cases that most of the palettes had shiny colors. The color combinations were all really nice however so that was another reason to try them. I chose the Stone collection. I got home and when I tried them on my eyes I couldn't believe it. The lid color a silver/mauve had a frost finish that was sooo unflattering. The contour color a deep plum, which went on muddy, had sparkles in it! The highlight was a matte vanilla which and was non existent when applied. My eyes looked like a frosty muddy mess. There was very little to no pigment in all the hues. Was Carmindy sniffing eyelash glue when she "inspired this make up line? Next.

Blush -Sally Hansen - Natural Beauty Sheerest Cream Blush Inspired By Carmindy
rated 1 of 5
seaswan 1/25/2011 10:13:00 PM

No! I would not buy this product again. I am looking for good cream blush for my dry cheeks. I read the raves on MUA and went to CVS for the 75% off sale. The hue's were dark in the package the lighter ones like bloom were not on sale. I picked Ginger b/c I wanted peachy color over a rosy one. When I went home I applied it, no problem with the color, nice creamy consistency. My problem? This blush put the dreaded colored dots on my cheeks! Right into my pores it went and my cheeks looked bare within 30 minutes. I re-applied, heavier. Dots with no lasting power.. I don't understand all the high lippies count for this blush. Sheer should not translate to non existent.

Eyeliner -Physicians Formula - Shimmer Strips Gel Creamliner (all)
rated 4 of 5
seaswan 1/24/2011 9:54:00 PM

Could it be that I have found a gel eyeliner that is as good as my beloved Mac Fluidline???? YES! PF Gel Creamliner comes 3 cubes in a set. You buy the set that matches your eye color. My eyes are brown so I got the one for blue eyes. (Call me a rebel if you wish), Blue eyes has a Black with flecks of blue glitter.(the glitter does not stray anywhere in or around your eyes,. Brown with a really nice glow finish, and a gorgeous med/deep blue. The cute little cubes stack together or you can take them apart and they are adorable. You also get a liner brush. Which I don't use. It reminds me more of a lip brush. SSGC pots are smaller than the Fluid line pots, but 11 bucks for three colors that's awesome! Okay now comparison to Fluidline PF; creamy application, easy to apply, Fluidline not as creamy PF wins on application. Also smudges out great for a long lasting shadow. Next; Staying Power PF and Mac It's a tie folks! They last as long as I want with no Fading. Final test; will it dry out in the container? I've had it PF for over two months and it's like new! So PF SS Cream gel eyeliner beats the Mac FL except for one thing; Mac is animal friendly PF not so much. So if you haven't tried these what are you waiting for?. Target has all the colors as well as CVS. I just bought the set for Green Eyes (check out my review under that category if you like). The colors are stunning! PF has the biggest selection of colors, especially if you include they're new GLAM collection which I also picked up and will be reviewing next. If you have used BB,MAC,Loreal Hip. Give these a try, you won't regret it. If you do, you have my permission to yell at me but ya won't ; )

Liquid -Rimmel - Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation
rated 3 of 5
seaswan 1/24/2011 9:14:00 PM

I tried this last summer. I was looking for something to use that had more coverage than the foundation I was using at the time and that would stay put in hot weather. The colors were limited. I chose #200 Soft beige the best for my skin tone, which was slightly tanned at the time, so I would say I was med/olive. The first thing I noticed was the strong scent. (very sweet grapefruit with a hint of glue) Which lasted quite a while, the next thing was that it remained sticky to the touch...which lasted quite a while. Too long in fact. This would not do in hot and humid weather. I gave it many chances. It stayed moist and I tossed it aside...until recently. I still had the tube and my now dry, winter skin needed help. I tried it again, scent still there, but the finish was not sticky in fact It sunk into my skin and felt great! The medium coverage lasts. (not sure about 24 hours thought) and doesn't look cakey later in the day. Lasting Finish is looking good on my dry skin.! I'm just trying to get past the scent.

Lotions/ Creams -Cetaphil - Cetaphil Daily Advance Ultra Hydrating Lotion For Dry Sensitive Skin
rated 1 of 5
seaswan 12/3/2010 10:05:00 PM

Ultra hydrating - Oh no it isnt! . It has a slick feel (almost oily). I don't think anyone with sensitive skin would appreciate that! The performance of moisturizing my face and body were mediocre at best. I'm left with slippery dry skin. That's just weird! I will stick with the cream which is far superior.

Eyeliner -Jane - Be Pure Mineral Gel Eyeliner
rated 3 of 5
seaswan 9/16/2010 8:43:00 PM

I bought these in Dark Brown,Navy and Plum. The Brown is a medium intensity. Navy is just a bit lighter in intensity than a true Navy, still very pretty The plum was a purple with no red in it but it doesn't really show up very well. I wasn't pleased with that shade. When I first opened the jar I thought I got an inferior jar b/c the eyeliner seemed dried out. I opened another one and realized that was just the texture. It comes with an angled mini brush which isn't the worst brush in the world but not one I would use when applying. Getting back to thinking these were dried out in the pot it's because Jane gel liners are more waxy than creamy and that makes it apply less smoothly than for example, MAC fluidline. The price is great $5 a pot, which is good considering the amount of product you get. Taking everything into consideration it's an average Gel/Cream eyeliner compared to others out there.

Candles -Yankee Candles - North Pole
rated 5 of 5
seaswan 9/10/2010 9:31:00 PM

The snow white candle and label with white lights and candy canes are enough to put you in the spirit. Light the candle and I dare you not to start caroling within minutes! I bought this last Christmas and went back and bought more within a week. I put tarts and votives in almost every room. Have you ever gone over someone's house for dinner and they have a scented candle that makes the food taste like the candle? North Pole will not do that. Everyone commented on the scent, and loved it. In fact I kept putting out more of this candle all Winter. Yankee Candle describes this scent as "a sweet blend of icy cool mint and sugary rich vanilla cream" The sugary rich vanilla cream sounds a little gross to me so I'll keep it accurate and simple... North Pole is Peppermint bark candy, It is the white chocolate kiss shaped candy sprinkled with Nonpareil that you get at a great local candy shop. North Pole is not sweet or sugary, It is cool peppermint candy cane with just enough of a warm white chocolate twist to make it irresistible. 2012 update: It is the best of all the mint scents Yankee candle has...... Try it and Enjoy!

Polishes -OPI - Absolutely Alice [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
seaswan 9/7/2010 9:38:00 PM

It's a party in a bottle! AbAlice is a glitterama festival. If you do an image search of a london blue topaz, that's the pretty blue hue this polish is. Then add neon blue, with a hint of green and gold glitter. You don't even need bright light to see the show this polish puts on. (WARNING: In bright light always protect your eyes with dark sunglasses when looking directly at AbAlice) It is not the easiest polish to apply considering all the chunky glitter, full bottle color and more with 2 coats and despite the glitter it was a easy to remove. Absolutely Alice just makes me happy. It's a trip! (Pun intended)

Polishes -OPI - Sand-erella
rated 5 of 5
seaswan 9/1/2010 9:24:00 PM

AHH..Summer for Shore. How I love you. I only have one more color to go. and I will own all of the polishes in this stunning holographic rainbow shimmer D/C collection. (You can check my reviews for the other shades) I will tell you I have been amazed by each and every one. I didn't think I would get Sanderella wasn't into purples much and looking at pictures online it looked darker than it is in person. I gave in and bought it anyway from the auction site from a great seller. This lilac shade is just sublime. It is more like a light amethyst. Very pretty. The sheerness of it takes three coats to achieve full bottle color, but so what. This polish goes on like a breeze, no lumps or streaks. If you find it, don't hesitate to buy it. It is a gem indeed!

Eye Makeup Remover -E.L.F. - Eye Make-Up Remover Pads
rated 1 of 5
seaswan 9/1/2010 8:55:00 PM

I have bought four of these and every single one I've opened has been dried out with no product to use. I bought the first two at a clothing store which was getting rid of ELF cosmetics. I figured well maybe it was a case of a bad batch. Then I bought one at a dollar store. No product inside just dried out pads! Today I went to Target' where they have a brand new full line of ELF cosmetics. I bought another one and went to my car, opened the sealed packaging then unscrewed the top.....nothing! I went back in and returned it. Yes it's only a dollar but this is ridiculous! " Hello ELF?" "It's quality control calling, "Check Yourself"!!

Polishes -OPI - What's Dune?
rated 5 of 5
seaswan 6/16/2010 10:28:00 PM

My fourth in the Summer for Shore d/c collection. What's Dune? reinforces my obsession with this series of polish. I paid twice the price and would pay more. Sheer buildable coverage with bottle color in two coats, wears beautifully alone or as a top coat. I was reluctant to get WD because of the silver references describing the shade. When I got the bottle I saw a light blue tint like OPI added a bit of Blue Moon Lagoon to it, and yes it was a bit silver gray too. Then I applied it and was immediately relieved The holograph and rainbow shimmer lured me in...again. Putting the special effects of this polish aside however the hue is not silver, nor is it white frost. It is simply the most accurate mother of pearl shade you could imagine a nail polish could be. Be it a piece of jewelry or the face of a watch etc. If you collect Sea shells add a bottle to your collection, it will fit right in!.

Polishes -OPI - Designer Series - DS Exclusive
rated 4 of 5
seaswan 6/7/2010 10:46:00 PM

Exclusive is one of the first D/S polishes to be released and I take off one lippie (would take off a half if I could) because I'm finding that the D/S polishes wear off a bit faster than the regular OPI formula. Now for the Hue itself. It is gorgeous. I vibrant magenta/plum with rainbow holograph and micro glitter that dazzles the eye. If you find it...buy it!

Polishes -OPI - Diamond
rated 4 of 5
seaswan 6/4/2010 10:31:00 PM

I got a bunch of Designer Series polishes on sale and almost left this behind. In the bottle it looks sort of muddy with green and purple holograph. Funky ugly and not any diamond I would want to wear. I bought it anyway and could not believe how much I love the hue on. It is really more mauve/lilac with gorgeous holo and shimmer that creates bling for my fingers and toes. One lippie off because D/S is not wearing as well as original OPI

Polishes -OPI - Designer Series - DS Design
rated 4 of 5
seaswan 6/4/2010 10:22:00 PM

On of the first DS colors. This is a sand colored beige polish that looked boring in the bottle but because of the holo and shimmer looks fantastic on! I love this hue neutral for everyone and holographic shimmer for a boost! YES. One lippie off b/c/ the DS is wearing a little bit faster than normal OPI. Maybe it's the diamonds?

Polishes -OPI - DS Ruby
rated 4 of 5
seaswan 6/4/2010 10:14:00 PM

Got this on sale with other OPI polishes, that I will be reviewing. This is from the first Designer series line. Diamonds in it so it costs more. Opi names many of their polish more for fun than description This is an example of that.. It didn't look very red in the bottle, when I put it on my finger I saw that it wasn't ruby red. It is a very vibrant Pink sapphire that wants to morph into a ruby.. It has holograph and shimmer that dazzles in the light. (Similiar to The summer for shore collection) I was excited because I have been looking for a bright pink wiht holo, shimmer and this turned out to be it! If you want more of a red with rainbow shimmer try Dressed to Empress. The only downside is that I 'm finding that the DS is not wearing as well as my other OPI polish.
