Lips -Revlon - Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - Lovesick
rated 3 of 5
melangerehab 9/18/2012 12:48:00 AM

This is a pretty color, but I wouldn't buy it again. This is a color that would only REALLY pop on very very cool skinned girls. I tend to be more cool toned but this made me look washed out. The stain lasts, but it gathers in the cracks of your lips easily. It's good, not great.

Lips -Revlon - Just Bitten Kissable Stain Balm - Crush
rated 3 of 5
melangerehab 9/18/2012 12:29:00 AM

Well jeez. My pale ass should have taken a closer look before buying this one - I bought it a while ago when it was the top-rated Revlon Just Bitten stain on here. Nooooot working for my skin, methinks. I have fairly neutral skin that looks good with both warm and cool toned makeup, and this one cosmetic is the ONE THING I've tried that looks god awful on me. Maybe I've just gotten lucky buying makeup, who knows, but a lip stain that makes me look green and yellow is good for Halloween, not much else. I'm not rating on the color, though, colors work different for everyone. It lasts a long time but it feathers AND rests in the cracks of your lips veeeery easily. If you're wearing a very bold lip, it is VERY easy to mess it up, and you need quality - I would recommend a more dependable formula in a bold lip product.

Concealers -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles
rated 4 of 5
melangerehab 9/18/2012 12:16:00 AM

I like this a lot and I've been using the Light color quite a bit for my undereye circles. I have puffy eyes so sometimes my dark bags are difficult to conceal, but I don't have the "reverse panda-eye" problem with this concealer as much, I guess. I don't like the sponge tip - the packaging says it's "protected with an anti-microbial system" and that you're not supposed to wash it, so I haven't... but it still feels dirty to me. This concealer doesn't do a 100% perfect job of covering up my dark circles, but no concealer I've ever found has done that. It looks natural and doesn't crease as much, and for that, it satisfies me, and I will probably repurchase for my dark and puffy eyes. edit: I have two of these, one in Light and one in the Brightener shade. Light gets a three from me, Brightener gets a FIVE because OH MY GOD LOVE IT. Great for concealing eye bags, blend it down below the shadow and it brightens your face right up!

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Smudge Eyeliner Brush
rated 3 of 5
melangerehab 8/20/2012 3:27:00 PM

Eh. Ecotools' brushes are usually pretty good, but I hate the unnecessary sharpener on the end of this. Isn't a pencil sharpener a thing that people usually have anyway? Why put it on the end of a brush to make it bulky and awkward to use? If they had included it separately, it would be better. I like the brush okay, but I still prefer my Sephora smudge brush for smudging eyeliner. Probably wouldn't buy another one of these.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Bronzer Brush
rated 4 of 5
melangerehab 8/20/2012 3:23:00 PM

I love this brush! Great for blending the whole face together, great for applying translucent powder. I wouldn't use it for bronzer - it's too big! But it's soft, durable, and while I'm not a huge fan of the huge handle, it's quality and I use it everyday. I have a larger makeup brush collection than actual makeup, and while I've tried lots of brands, Ecotools remains my favorite, the quality and price is pretty amazing.

Cleansers -Simple - Cleansing Facial Wipes
rated 4 of 5
melangerehab 8/13/2012 9:17:00 PM

I've gone through three packs of these. I like using them when I'm at my boyfriends place and I don't have other things to clean my face with. I wouldn't recommend using them every day, but they don't sting from what I've experienced. It's not a super fresh super deep clean, but I haven't broken out or anything, so that's good enough for me. If you're on the go and in a pinch, these will get everything off pretty well. Though, if you have a lot of eye makeup on, I'd recommend a quick swipe with Vaseline first if you don't want to scrub and rub at your eyes too much.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil - Milk
rated 3 of 5
melangerehab 8/13/2012 9:13:00 PM

This is pretty good for highlighting the brow bone and inner corner. I only apply it on the lid when I put primer down first, but it really does make color pop. It's creamy and blends like a dream with your fingers. I like it a lot, but not enough to rebuy.

Concealers -Urban Decay - Surreal Skin Creamy Concealer
rated 1 of 5
melangerehab 8/13/2012 9:10:00 PM

Ugh. Urban Decay, you really are hit or miss. The packaging is terrible. The formula is runny to apply and cakey after minutes of wear. If you put it on a blemish it will most likely make it more obvious and look worse. You know when you put concealer on a pimple super carefully and it looks god awful? Yeah. This stuff does exactly that. This is a terrible concealer. I would not recommend it, there are cheaper ones that are higher quality out there. Urban Decay is best for eye products.

Styling Products -TRESemme - Instant Heat Tamer Spray
rated 3 of 5
melangerehab 8/13/2012 6:16:00 PM

This is a heat protectant product I use on the rare occasions I straighten my hair simply because it's laying around. It's okay. Can't say if it's great. It does what I want it to, but I don't think it protects my hair as well as I'd like it to.

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Proclaim Glossing Polish
rated 5 of 5
melangerehab 8/13/2012 5:39:00 PM

My hair is super frizzy since I'm growing out a pixie cut and none of my hair is the same length, and until I get a trim, this is the closest I'll ever get to smooth. It makes my hair shiny and soft and I like how many natural oils it has. My boyfriend loooooves the smell, it's a very sweet and natural fruity-vanilla like smell. I like this stuff, you barely need any. It's one of the few hair products I consistently use. If you're one of those 'cones-phobic people, you're gonna have to stay away, but if you don't mind them, give this a try.

Pressed Powders -Almay - TLC Truly Lasting Color Pressed Powder
rated 3 of 5
melangerehab 8/3/2012 6:46:00 PM

I don't typically like Almay products, but this is probably my favorite Almay product I've tried. It's decent enough, and that's the problem: it's just decent. Not great, not outstanding, just meh. It's powder. If you need powder I'd recommend a higher quality one that has longer lasting power and controls oiliness better.

Polishes -OPI - Big Apple Red
rated 4 of 5

Very pretty candy apple red. As always, OPI is easy to apply and requires few coats. I usually don't wear red polish but I make an exception for this one.

Polishes -OPI - Lincoln Park After Dark
rated 4 of 5
melangerehab 8/3/2012 6:32:00 PM

This color is very dark. It doesn't really look purple to me, just black. I'm really pale, so I don't like wearing this color on its own, but it looks AMAZING with Essie's Shine of the Times topcoat over it. I will continue wearing it for that or maybe for a galaxy nail look if I have the time for one but I probably won't buy it again. It is high-quality, though, as OPI always is, so if this a color you can work with, enjoy it.

Concealers -Maybelline - Dream Lumi Touch
rated 4 of 5
melangerehab 8/2/2012 2:35:00 PM

I bought this product because I heard it was a good substitute for YSL's Touche Eclat, and boy, am I glad I did. I've got quite the assortment of concealers, but this may be my new favorite. Sorry, Glamoflauge. It feels thin for a concealer, but I find it's not that sheer. One light application for everything but my dark circles does the trick. It's pretty illuminating, too, so it brightens up my face in ways other concealers never have. It has good lasting power. I don't like the applicator brush tip too much, it seems somewhat unsanitary to me, but considering everything else, this is definitely worth the money.

Bronzers -Rimmel - Natural Bronzer- 21 Sun Light
rated 4 of 5
melangerehab 8/2/2012 2:28:00 PM

Every other bronzer I've tried has made me look dirty or sparkly and for the longest time, I had a very hate-hate relationship with bronzer. But since I'm in the middle of a hot summer, my pale ass needs to look like it actually gets sun, and I bought this bronzer after reviews on MakeupAlley. I find it applies exceptionally well, is easy to blend, and is buildable so I don't ever go overboard. It has pretty good staying power as long as I put on translucent powder beforehand. What I like most is the lack of glitter, though - very pretty, very natural. I will probably stick to this bronzer from now on.
