OMG!!! This is great!!! My Almay dried out, and I went to repurchase, and saw this on sale for like $4. I had to try it even if I didn't bother checking the MUA beforehand! So happy I did. It definitely delivers on its claims. It really does make my lashes look full and thick, but still soft. It doesn't clump nor smudge, and the overall effect is effortless beauty! Really! Very feminine lashes. I hate when women put too much and get that spider-eye look. I also like the fact that I can just pull out the wand and apply. There is no excess goop on the wand that I have to take off before I start applying. Just take it out, apply, and look pretty :) If I need a dramatic look, I find it easy to build up with this mascara. Honestly though, I just like it *full and soft* :-)) No irritation or tears either. All in all, best d/s mascara, hands down!
Lip Treatments -Avon - Beyond Color lip Conditioner SPF 12 with Retinol
lexymiss 4/23/2008 12:42:00 AM
This is some good stuff! No, it doesn't live up to its claims of plumping, but nothing else does either IMO. Still, it is a great lip conditioner. It really smoothes the lips, and is great as a base for lip gloss or lipstick. I also love the SPF! I use it in the am, before I leave the house, and at pm, before I go to bed. In-between, I use my Chicken Poop, and I love the combo. If I wear anything else (gloss, lipstick), I use this before it. Definitely helps!!! Will repurchase (on sale though)!
Cleansers -Eucerin - Redness Relief Soothing Cleanser
lexymiss 3/22/2008 12:25:00 AM
Iíve been using this cleanser for a while now. I think I went through about four tubes so far. I bought it on the recommendation of Dr. Baumann, about year and a half ago, and I absolutely love it. Been using it ever since. It is weird yellow, gel-like consistency, and it doesnít foam at all. But it cleans, and is imperative at minimizing my facial redness! After using this, my skin does not feel tight at all (the only cleanser that doesnít make my face tight and ready to crack)! No break outs, and I can use it several times a day if I wanted/needed to, still with no drying or irritation!!! I only seldomly use make up, so Iím not sure if this would take your make up off. When I do put some on, I use Pond wipe first, then follow up with this, and this combo does a great job at getting all that gunk off of my face! Extremely happy with this product! (I can only find it at Walgreens though, but definitely worth an extra trip!).
Skincare - Face -Philosophy - when hope is not enough spf
lexymiss 3/22/2008 12:10:00 AM
I waited about three weeks to review this, just to make sure Iím as enthusiastic about it now as I was when I first started using it. And I am. I really like this product a lot. Normally, all the UVA lotions leave my skin greasy looking, are too thick, or leave a pasty white residue on my face. But not this. It is pretty runny (consistency), so application is a breeze: no tugging or pulling on my delicate facial skin. Also, no irritation whatsoever (no breakouts nor facial redness)! It absorbs, so I donít look like I havenít washed my face in days! Even after I slather my moisturizer underneath; an added bonus for me!!! And no white film left on my skin afterwards! I also love the SPF 20. Granted, itís not as good as 30, but itís better than 15!!! ;) The only part I donít like about this product is how much of it comes out. No matter how lightly I squeeze the tube (love the tube packaging BTW), a lot more comes out than what I need. Considering the size of the tube and the price, I really do not want to waste this! True, it does have that herbal lavender smell to it, but it does wear off in my opinion. Will definitely keep repurchasing! UPDATE: Just found out this is not photostable and ppd of this product is very low!!! UGH..... Off to find another HG sunscreen. Took two lippies off for this.
Cleansers -Aveeno - Positively Ageless exfoliating cleanser
lexymiss 3/21/2008 11:46:00 PM
This is a great product by Aveeno! I only use it once every 7 to 14 days, and that is all my sensitive skin needs. It is gentle enough and doesnít irritate, and doesnít break me out, but still does a wonderful job of getting my facial skill clean and clear. I use it when I need it, when I start noticing some blackheads on my nose or chin area, and this literally wipes them out completely with a single use. Also, I love the pump (hygienic!), and the fact that the cleanser is kind of runny. I donít like when I have to pull on my skin to apply anything Ė it totally defeats the purpose of anti-aging!! Not sure how this would work as a daily scrub, but then again, I wouldnít want to use scrub daily to begin with. I use retinol, and from what I hear, using scrubs or exfoliants is not necessary when youíre on retinol. So I use it seldomly, as stated, and I donít see any problems at all (and I even have sensitive skin!!!). It is gentle, but delivers great results, even when used sporadically! I always keep this on stock (and with my irregular use, lasts forever!). Yay, Aveeno! :)
Sunscreen -Skinceuticals - Physical UV Defense SPF 30
lexymiss 3/13/2008 12:03:00 AM
I got this on recommendation of Dr. Baumannís book, and Iím sorry to say that I was disappointed. It is very heavy and greasy, which would be ok with me, as long as it absorbs. But it doesnít. It lingers visibly on my skin and leaves a white cast (and Iím pale white to being with), for hours. To make matters even worse, it makes my skin feel suffocated. It kind of sits on my face, preventing it from breathing; I felt my face sweating! Since it is so heavy and thick, I also felt that I was pulling and tugging on my delicate facial skin way too much. It is supposed to prevent aging, but the application process was sure to give me additional lines and wrinkles by me trying to spread it over my face. Overall, a waste of money. I stopped using it after about two weeks of useÖÖ. Although a great formulation, drug store moisturizer with broad spectrum UV protection works much better and is a lot cheaper! Iím going to try Philosophyís When Hope is Not Enough SPF 20; hope it works better!
Lip Gloss -Maybelline - Volume Seduction Plumping Gloss
lexymiss 3/9/2008 3:41:00 AM
Maybelline was on a great sale, so I bought this (and few other things) to give it a shot. I opted for nude color, as I normally donít use much make-up and I prefer natural look. I really like this gloss, and I absolutely love this particular shade. Itís not goopy or sticky like some glosses can be, and it has great shine! Although it nicely tingled, it didnít plump my lips up. I donít think any of them really do, so I wasnít disappointed! But it is a very nice gloss, definitely worth a try. Staying power was pretty good as well. I also bought the bright pink one, thinking it would be a lot less pink once applied. Wrong. The shade on the tube is exactly what you get on the lips. Amazing and true tint, especially for lip glosses. Too bright for my fair complexion, though. Iím waiting for another sale to stock up on some other, more natural pinks! Would definitely buy again. Love the packaging too!
Iíve just purchased this thermal water together with Eluage (which Iím about to start). I used Evian water before, and I thought it was pretty good before starting with this Avene water. But boyÖ. Have I been wrongÖ.What a difference!!!! This truly instantly soothes!!!! It is a fine mist that my skin soaks up pretty fast, and feels very calming! Iíve been lucky at keeping my facial redness at minimum using other products, but adding this to my routine completely erased my redness! I went from bright red to ďflushedĒ using some great stuff. But when I added this Thermal Water, in just three days Iím completely flush free! I am positive it is this particular product that has done it, as it is the only new addition to my regimen! I use it after I cleanse, both morning and evening. I also add a spritz here and there, because it is so lovely. I have found my HG! Wonderful product! UPDATE: (3/21) Yup........ still working wonders!!! Loving it!!!
I didnít care for this gloss at all. The colors and shine seem fine, but this is way too goopy and sticky. UghÖ And the round tip applicator has got to go too! Messy, hard and uneven application. Hard to get off as well. ~Very disappointing!!~
Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipgloss - Nude Lustre
lexymiss 3/2/2008 1:23:00 AM
I love this lip gloss, and I always keep coming back to it. The color is awesome, not a traditional lifeless nude, itís more of a nude with a little spunk. It is glossy, but not too overpowering. It feels light and it is not goopy-sticky like some glosses tend to be, and the staying power is pretty good too! All in all, a great buy from Revlon!
I really wanted to like this, but it proved to be a waste of money for me. I love the natural ingredients in this mineral make up, and a natural SPF, and I really thought my skin can tolerate it. The brush seemed to irritate my skin as I was applying it, and after application, the powder just seemed to sit there on top of my skin. Although it looked fine, it felt like a film over my face. My skin couldnít breathe! I would feel like my face is sweating and burning underneath the powder. As a result, my face was itching, and it was bright red for days and I got a few pimples too! I also tried applying with cotton ball, very lightly, but the same feeling returned. Mineral Veil gave me the same results, as well as Mineral Warmth. I guess my skin just canít tolerate it. Will not repurchase, obviously.
Conditioner -TRESemme - Healthy Volume Conditioner
lexymiss 2/15/2008 10:48:00 PM
I did not like this at all. I used it together with the corresponding shampoo, and it was too heavy for my hair. I have fine hair, and the shampoo seemed to plump it up a bit, but the conditioner weighted hair down immediately. I only used a small bit, as I normally do, but it didnít matter. Another problem is that my hair felt very weird after using this; dirty and oily, like I havenít washed it at all. And the texture was very unlike my normal hair, very course. Definitely a waste of money. Some of their products are great, but this one ended up in a garbage can! Will not repurchase!!!
ATOPALM Face Lotion in a tube: I really like this moisturizer. I used it primarily at night, and within a week, my skin felt better and was visibly less red. It provided a relief for my dry skin, and it definitely provided barrier repair. Made my skin subtle and soft, hydrated and nourished! After a few weeks of nightly use though, it did start feeling a little bit heavy, and I would get an occasional pimple here and there. So I started using it every other night, and using Paulaís Choice Hydrating Treatment on the other nights. Awesome!!! I now use it only on the nights I use retinol (every third), during winter months, or anytime my facial skin needs an extra boost. Definitely do not want to run out of this one! Wonderful product. A little goes a long way, so the small tube lasts me a very long time. A definite keeper!!!
Iím so sorry to dissent, but this was horrible! It wasnít so much the feel of the balm itself, but the smell and taste of this was just too repulsive for me. It tasted like crap, so much that I had to wipe it off. And it felt very minty, which I normally wouldnít mind, except that it made my lips tingle and itch; almost felt like an allergic reaction. Iím thinking the culprits were menthol and salicylic acid?! Smell was very overpowering too. It is more hygienic than the little jar, true, but not worth any money! Try Chicken Poop instead (silly name, but a superb lip balm, and all natural)!
I got this as a gag stocking stuffer for my ladies at work this last Christmas. Iím so happy I got one extra, because I really like it. I donít think its waxy or heavy as some other lip junk is! It has jojoba oil, lavender oil and sweet orange oil in it, and Iím thinking maybe thatís why itís less waxy than some other brands (all the oils)? Donít knowÖ.. Either way, I think it smells great, herbal, although not too strong (and the scent does wear off in my opinion). I also love that all the ingredients are natural. And it does not taste bad (actually, it doesnít have any taste at all). I tried some that I just could not stand the taste of (Carmex cherry, awful)! Granted, I donít eat the balm, but stillÖ. It is very moisturizing, and makes my lips feel a lot softer! I canít find this anywhere locally, so I have to buy it online. But at $3.99 plus shipping, it comes to more like nine bucks, and that is a little pricey for a lip balm. I will repurchase however when it goes on sale. I only wish it came with SPF. It is definitely one of my favorite!!! I love Chicken poop!
